That's a great start actually! The goal of the vid is to have a combo for every kind of hit your naturally gonna land in a match. After playing some games you should be like "man I wonder what I should do after a drive impact into a wall," and then you come back to this video for THAT combo to add yo your ken combo collection. Slowly but surely you'll have the whole video under your belt.
A key thing to remember is the actual game has only been out a month. Try doing them in training mode at half speed at first, even if you can properly do each move at full speed doing it slower will help build muscle memory. Like OP said, practice one or two at first and build from there: it's a lot easier learning 1-2 combos at a time than 15
Yeah ken has a lot and if you didn't already catch it in the comments or description you can just do one Jinrai kick into DP for an easier more damaging combo.
1:29 For the meterless Wall Splat, I personally like to do : Forward HP + Heavy Jinray with Heavy Follow-up and finally Medium DP, i can squeeze around 3080 damage this way, and you can also cancel into LVL 2 instead for 3760 or something like that. The timing is a little tricky tho
woah thanks for the video. I was practicing the backwards tatsu corner carry and kept wondering why DP HP never came out. Turns out I have to input it backwards!

Been getting bodied once i hit plat 4 and struggling with playerthat are just play trutles and wont open up i think these will help if i add this to my damage cuz i am lacking in the combo department
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't combo a cr.LP after DR > HP > Medium DL, it ends on a +3 and cr.LP is a 4 frame startup. What am I missing here?
Why do people use Ken’s run cancel after crouching heavy punch into crouching light punch target combo? Doesn’t the crouching light punch already link after the crouching heavy drive rush?
I don't understand it either. It scales the damage pretty badly. You can just do st or cr mp after the run cancel into literally anything for more damage as well as the same corner carry.
Dad to find the time to test properly. Drive rush crouch heavy doesn't link into light punch target combo, not even in the corner. The run cancel give you better combo routes to choose from but if damage is all your worried about going right into crouch Medium punch gets slightly less damage for less work for sure. 👍🏾
Are you sure the combo at 0:18 works for opponents who mash cr. LP after they block the heavy Jinrai kick? I tried that in the lab and the ex jinrai kicks (second 2 kicks ) whiff completely.
Correct, in the case you catch them crouching you'll have to F+lk -> F+hk. You'll finish the combo but lose the safe jump. To give yourself time to confirm whether you are hitting on crouching or standing Jab twice.
I think your talking about his Dragon lash followup from his Quick dash (LK+MK). Its a unique attack that he can drargonlash from. After launching an opponent Quick Dash -> dragon lash will give you the bounce your looking for. 👍🏾 Let me know if you got it. 🤝
First off amazing video for real. Very in depth. I’m new to sf6, first street fighter. I play NRS games. This game has been very hard for me to pickup, so fun though I have a couple questions for anybody reading this. 1. I use a dualshock 4... seems not so great for this. Where do you put your run cancel / KK at? To me it seems like parry and DI are critical to have their own button.. I have them on L1 and L2. I can’t do KK together with just buttons consistently. So I put KK on the face button. Almost every ken player I talk to says they have L1 as PPP and L2 as KKK. 2. Can someone please for the love of Christ tell me how you do a DP into a level 3? Or really anything into any supers. I do normal DP input, then try to do 2 separate qtr circle punch to cancel the DP into level 3. I am like 30% success rate and my hands are killing me. Is there a shortcut here with supers? Any advice appreciated. Great game, great vid too
Fellow NRS player here, I feel your pain. I can't help you for 1 or 3, but what's been helping me with 2 is buffering the movement inputs as the previous hit is still on the way, so that I just need to time the button when the hit lands. For example, say you dragonlash kick them behind you to extend a combo--as they're bouncing off the floor, do your 2x quarter circle inputs, then hit your button as they're midair. Hope this helps!
The main way I do DP into Lvl 3 is doing the DP input but adding an extra forward input afterwards (so forward, down, down-forward, forward), or in other words forward hadoken, but with the punch input on the down-forward input. This will count it as both a DP input and a quarter-circle forward input. Then just do another quarter-circle and kick/punch. For Lvl 3s that involve quarter-circles back I'm not sure, but I'm assuming you're playing Ken so that won't really be an issue. Hope this helps!
For the combo at 2:14, im having a very hard time trying to connect Medium Dragon Lash into crouching light punch. Dont know why but it never connects in time for the combo to continue. How do you get it to connect?
im wondering this as well, i keep getting +3 on hit for the medium dragon lash which isnt enough +frames for the cr.lp to combo. Maybe its space or character dependent edit: works on crouching opponents only!
Can people just mash 4f jab against jinrai kicks? Also I've seen many pro matches where they use light or medium dragonlash kick and the opponent keep blocking instead of taking their turn, is there a trick to make these moves plus? I tried in training and you're negative unless you use the heavy version, what am I missing?
1. Can people just mash 4f jab against jinrai kicks? In my testing Cr.mp -> M.jinrai~F+lk is safe from drive impact and frame traps mash. Anything else like Cr.mk -> M.jinrai~F+lk loses to drive impact but can frame trap assuming they block the cr.mk. Cr.mk hasa more range but doesn't stun them long enough so focus on landing cr.mp.
No worries they're stored right in the video. Learn 1 combo in training mode, then master it in casual matches, then come back for another. SF6 aint goin anywhere anytime soon so have fun finding your pace. 👍🏾👍🏾
Hi mate, na the splat I think it's called. Found out I think it's only certain characters can do it, ryu part of there move and combo, thanks for getting back to us 👍
If I'm fighting against a Ken that's adding that overhead attack in his blockstring; do I have enough time to do anything other than standing block? Jab, throw, super etc?
Everything you just listed are solid things to react with. You wouldn't need to possibly react with anything else. Ken's mix ups are actually quite punishable if he's just flowcharting his command kicks and his overheads. Even dragon lash can get punished on reaction.
The combo at 0:19 The reason is because I set dummy on Block reversal to hit crouch jab so that I could get the counter hit. So if you're fishing for counter hits after HK Dragon Slash, and you counter hit their crouch jab, this specific ender will whiff.
Once you see you caught them crouching with the lights, after jinrai, do F+lk into F+hk. You lose the safe jump but you finish the combo with good corner carry.
Im pretty new to SF6 and noticed that are times when certain moves will have red flames when performing them when they normally don’t have flames. What are those moves called and how do you activate them? I’ve done them on accident a few times but can’t figure it out how to actually do it on purpose.
I think your talking about his followups from his Quick dash (LK+MK). Its a unique attack that he can do special moves from like his shoryuken. After launching an opponent with something like st.mp~st.hp, Quick Dash -> shoryuken will give you the flames your looking for. same thing will happen if you tatsu after quick dash👍🏾 Let me know if you got it. 🤝
@@KairosFGC You’re awesome dude. Thank you for answering that. I’m gonna try that here in about an hour and will confirm if that’s what I was referencing, which I’m pretty sure it is. Thanks again.
Bro i stopped playing luke because taking 40% off of evedy stray hit with 0 effort was honestly boring AF, but after trying to learn these combos i got half a mind to play luke more lmao
for CH DL Combo, is this combo patched? I am unable to get CR.LP after his DP+MK, leaving me with 3f advantage. Assuming all this, the combo is unable to be done
to get the 4+ advantage you need they have to be hit crouching. Thats where the overheads come in in the video. Or they have to get frametrapped mashing a crouching normal like cr.lp
I wish I could start practicing these combos but I gotta translate them to number notation first lol seriously hard for a lot of people to know what it is at a glance without numbers...
allright the video is old, but im learning new things so I gotta ask Better and easier version of combo discovored: HP+HK, DL.St.hp, qcf+lk, DL.F+mk, DP+HP (3080 damage!) [HP+HK, DL.5HP, 236LK, DL.6MK, 623HP] is this correct? i can manage doing the LK loops pretty well so far, but is it REALLY a dl.6MK? yknow, the one that smacks the opponent to the ground?? cause if yes then the timing must be SUPER tight, ive been at it for 3 hrs and havent gotten it once!
anyone wants to tell me why my Jinrai loop isn't working? No matter the timing I'm trying, the Jinray's low kick is always missing the target (too soon, there is no way I'm faster than he) if I delay the second kick, opponent falls down
Its tricky, and turns out there's a more optimal version that's easier. Lets assume you use st.mp~st.hp in the corner. Instead of jinrai loops go: st.mp~st.hp -> qcf+mk -> dl.F+hk -> DP+HP You get about 200~300 more damage, and only have to slight delay the jinrai followup. 👍🏾
Ive made it to gold just with simple guarantees, i think im ready to take it to the next level and start stacking the damage to all these openings, but i still gotta say im unsure how i feel about them as a whole. I like sf the most because it seems not to have any endless combo loops and i have pretty much quit mk because of that
Last combo isn't true. You can't crouching light punch after a medium dragonlash kick, they can just hold block. unfortunately DR -> ST HP doesn't allow follow up from any of the dragonlash kicks, even OD.
I was also confused about this for a while but turns out medium dragonlash is +4 on hit only if they are crouching, because the actual attack hits later in the animation.
That double jinrai combo at the wall is way too fucking hard and inconsistent, and online with the lags and fps drops yeah good luck hitting it. I can do it like 1/10, you need to be frame perfect doing it, meanwhile theres an easier version with just doing 1 heavy jinrai instead of 2 lights.

Been getting bodied once i hit plat 4 and struggling with playerthat are just play trutles and wont open up i think these will help if i add this to my damage cuz i am lacking in the combo department
Heavy dragon lash mixed with Drive approaches should force them out the shell. Let me know how it goes.
I actually NEVER knew that you could combo after the Jinrai overhead😑 ik about the corner loops tho and I’m Plat…I feel so ashamed
No worries your doing the right thing by playing first cause the counterhit on jinrai takes understanding of his gameplan to get. 👍🏾👍🏾
@@KairosFGC True, learning other safe jumps with ken and imma fast learner, I was Plat 1 before and I’m about to hit Diamond now❤️🔥
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't combo a cr.LP after DR > HP > Medium DL, it ends on a +3 and cr.LP is a 4 frame startup. What am I missing here?
CH Jinrai Low Mix combo - 2161 is this thing even possible? I set the dummy to block and I can't get it to work, even without gaps.
Long as the dummy is set to not block lows, and to get counter hit on counter settings you should be good. 👍🏾
Not bad👍
Appreciate it! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Why do people use Ken’s run cancel after crouching heavy punch into crouching light punch target combo?
Doesn’t the crouching light punch already link after the crouching heavy drive rush?
Saves meter
cr. HP is +3 on hit, so you can't link any normals on a regular hit.
@@KairosFGC thank everyone for the responses.
I’ve practiced it just in case!
must known combos for honda please
thnx
Are you sure the combo at 0:18 works for opponents who mash cr. LP after they block the heavy Jinrai kick? I tried that in the lab and the ex jinrai kicks (second 2 kicks ) whiff completely.
Correct, in the case you catch them crouching you'll have to F+lk -> F+hk. You'll finish the combo but lose the safe jump. To give yourself time to confirm whether you are hitting on crouching or standing Jab twice.
I can't for the life of me connect the standing medium punch after the overhead. Does it only work on crouching opponents?
which combo specifically?
On the last combo, the DragonSlashMK is +3 en hit while the c.LP is a 4frames. how do you connect it :O? I can't do it in training mode.
They have to get crouching that's where the Jinrai overheads come into play.
@@KairosFGC ah ok. I didn't noticed that x).
Thank you.
im struggling to get the second cr.lp on the counter hit dragon lash combo any tips?
works on crouching opponents only, in the Deejay example he is getting caught mashing cr.lp
I’m super co fused with the bouncing Dragon Lash kick. I can’t make the opponent bounce. Is it an overdrive DP+K?
I think your talking about his Dragon lash followup from his Quick dash (LK+MK). Its a unique attack that he can drargonlash from. After launching an opponent Quick Dash -> dragon lash will give you the bounce your looking for. 👍🏾
Let me know if you got it. 🤝
#ReneGang!
hey, how come some combos don't work when the opponent is getting counter hit standing and not crouching ?
the second combo requires them to be getting hit standing. and anything that connects st.hp -> Medium dragonlash requires them to be crouching.
First off amazing video for real. Very in depth. I’m new to sf6, first street fighter. I play NRS games. This game has been very hard for me to pickup, so fun though
I have a couple questions for anybody reading this.
For KK i do LK with thumb and HK with index

Maybe its space or character dependent
edit: works on crouching opponents only!
@Mugen123456789 after labbing for some hours last night I figured it out as well lol
works on crouching opponents only!
I bought this cuz imma 90s baby same reason imma buy tekken 8 but I'll never be this good at the game cuz I'm all about laughs and button mashing 😂😂

There is no way my old brain can store all these combos.... I Guess its time to quit for me 😢
No worries they're stored right in the video. Learn 1 combo in training mode, then master it in casual matches, then come back for another. SF6 aint goin anywhere anytime soon so have fun finding your pace. 👍🏾👍🏾
Great combos mate, some serious skills there. I see people do the wall bounce combo how do you get them to bounce of the wall
By wall bounce do you mean the effect after Drive impacting the opponent into the wall?
Hi mate, na the splat I think it's called. Found out I think it's only certain characters can do it, ryu part of there move and combo, thanks for getting back to us 👍
Does playing on an Xbox controllers make these combos harder ?
I can’t connect my second jinrai medium overhead kick into ST-MP
How are you linking the DP+MK into CR.LP at 2:18? I can’t get it at all
enemy must be crouching
@@meowsuoWeird. I didn’t know certain combos can be done if the opp is crouching
If I'm fighting against a Ken that's adding that overhead attack in his blockstring; do I have enough time to do anything other than standing block? Jab, throw, super etc?
More than enough to jab on reaction. And if you got the read super or drive impact l. There's no way for him to generate enough stun.
Everything you just listed are solid things to react with. You wouldn't need to possibly react with anything else. Ken's mix ups are actually quite punishable if he's just flowcharting his command kicks and his overheads. Even dragon lash can get punished on reaction.
@KairosFGC hey man how do i the 3 hits of the corner carry tatsu combo i cant get it
Trying to really improve but say I could only use 3 of these combos, which 3 would be good to utilize?
For the OD jinrai ender my dummy slinks down after the first hit instead of taking the 2nd and 3rd hit like a man, what am i doing wrong 🤔 😩
The combo at 0:19
The reason is because I set dummy on Block reversal to hit crouch jab so that I could get the counter hit.
After launching an opponent with something like st.mp~st.hp, Quick Dash -> shoryuken will give you the flames your looking for. same thing will happen if you tatsu after quick dash👍🏾
Let me know if you got it.
It be like that no worries.
@@KairosFGC lol well I got the combos mostly down now so I won't switch my main after all 🤣
LETS GOOOOOOO@@tonyl9636
for CH DL Combo, is this combo patched? I am unable to get CR.LP after his DP+MK, leaving me with 3f advantage. Assuming all this, the combo is unable to be done
It can be done but only if the enemy is still crouching if they are then you’ll be +4 for CH.LP
to get the 4+ advantage you need they have to be hit crouching. Thats where the overheads come in in the video. Or they have to get frametrapped mashing a crouching normal like cr.lp
Do you think I can play ken with modern controls?
Absolutely. Once you use all the options of the control scheme you get 90% of your kit. def recommed for new and veteran playeers.
Did Ken get nerfed? I can’t dragonlash into jab at all. He’s only +3 on hit
I wish I could start practicing these combos but I gotta translate them to number notation first lol
seriously hard for a lot of people to know what it is at a glance without numbers...
would be just as hard for other people to know what it is at a glance too if it was numbers...
It's really not that difficult lol.
allright the video is old, but im learning new things so I gotta ask
Better and easier version of combo discovored:
HP+HK, DL.St.hp, qcf+lk, DL.F+mk, DP+HP (3080 damage!)
[HP+HK, DL.5HP, 236LK, DL.6MK, 623HP]
is this correct? i can manage doing the LK loops pretty well so far, but is it REALLY a dl.6MK? yknow, the one that smacks the opponent to the ground??
cause if yes then the timing must be SUPER tight, ive been at it for 3 hrs and havent gotten it once!
anyone wants to tell me why my Jinrai loop isn't working? No matter the timing I'm trying, the Jinray's low kick is always missing the target (too soon, there is no way I'm faster than he) if I delay the second kick, opponent falls down
Its tricky, and turns out there's a more optimal version that's easier. Lets assume you use st.mp~st.hp in the corner. Instead of jinrai loops go: st.mp~st.hp -> qcf+mk -> dl.F+hk -> DP+HP
You get about 200~300 more damage, and only have to slight delay the jinrai followup. 👍🏾
1:08
What punish DP?
Ive made it to gold just with simple guarantees, i think im ready to take it to the next level and start stacking the damage to all these openings, but i still gotta say im unsure how i feel about them as a whole. I like sf the most because it seems not to have any endless combo loops and i have pretty much quit mk because of that
How do i connect the low jab after dragonlash kick?
It's a crouching confirm, although you probably know that by know
bro i can do almost as much damage as that max damage combo by just doing heavy punch and critical art
Am I the only one not understanding what the abbreviations mean?
1:54
Last combo isn't true. You can't crouching light punch after a medium dragonlash kick, they can just hold block.
unfortunately DR -> ST HP doesn't allow follow up from any of the dragonlash kicks, even OD.
I was also confused about this for a while but turns out medium dragonlash is +4 on hit only if they are crouching, because the actual attack hits later in the animation.
@@callanharvey6264 Great info, thanks!
What does DL mean in yout notation?
It says in the description that DL = Delayed Press. Hope that helps!😋
Hi what does DP mean?
DP = Dragon Punch! Check the description, it should have any terms that you need an explanation for!
Kens dash mechanic with X and O is so dofficult on controller man. How am I suppsed to do that
map it to l1 or l2
A lot of kens change their L2 (which is drive parry by default) to 2 Kicks in controller settings. Make it way more reliable. 👍🏾
No matter how much i practice they just wont come out for me
What the earliest combo in the video giving you trouble?
Bro I can't do none of the combos 🤣🤣 but if I would love to do one would be the max damage one
This is so cool u taught me. I’m gay btw🤨
