Remember when I said Itzy'stage presence was overrated? Yeah, I am a clown 🤡 Edit: Episode 2 this Friday. Link for trailer: ua-cam.com/video/9zYm3eMK0C0/v-deo.html
When ever glow was second and you said “you thought they were gonna be first cause they’re my faves” I was like no sis I thought they were gonna be first because you said itsy’s stage presence ain’t it
@@everglowup would you consider doing the same video with 3rd gen boy groups ? Like BTS - EXO - GOT7 - Monsta X, maybe not ranking if you don’t want to be attacked left and right, but giving pros / cons for groups and individuals, and each member type of performer ? Anyway, I really enjoyed the video, it was super interesting !
When people said that Yeji has stage presence, I have to admit that she has, he got attitude but at the same time I feel she has an advantage, her appearance itself is unique and her eyes just make her look fearless.
She may have an advantage, but so do other idols. There are quite a number of idols who have high fancam views, not necessarily because their stage presence is that good but because of their looks; a number of them look pretty dead inside while performing. Yeji, while she definitely has that advantage, actually does have an amazing stage presence and works to show it off very well.
@@Gemstones1000 I know, believe is so sad for me see how some idols, with no stage presence, not good dancer, rapper or vocalist either are popular just for their visuals.
I think what makes Ryujin's masculine energy stand out is that she's masculine without being androgynous, and that's rare for a female performer in Kpop. One could argue that Chaeyoung in Twice is like that too, but imo Chaeyoung is a very feminine person/performer who excels in cute concepts for a reason (or mature/sexy concepts like Strawberry and Love Foolish). Ryujin is just a strong woman with a lot of masculine energy, and it's refreshing to see.
Wow your comment is so refreshing to see as well as the amount of likes you got. In other comment sections I've seen people get attacked as if talking about masculine energy is "misgendering" sb. Honestly I can't stand that type of restriction in normal observation.
@@bru513 Thank you! I think it helps that it's part of the video topic too. As she said, masculinity has nothing to do with gender in this context. An example of a masculine female performer who is more androgynous (aka prefers a more androgynous stage look when it comes to costumes on stage and personal style) is Miya from GWSN (one of my personal favorite performers in Kpop at the moment).
Ryujin has a calm chill vibe when performing like she's not forcing herself just going with the flow, yet she does it in a way that it comes out as powerful & dominant, I love a girl who knows what she's doing.
Its true 💯like i know that when i think of First, i think of Mia, Aisha and ONDA. She doesnt have too many lines and yet the energy, the fierceness she brought to that song! * chef’s kiss *
ofc!! Soyeon fought HARD to stand where she is now. Survived a lot of idol shows, everyone called her ugly and such. She trained hard and worked on her qualities and definitely was her own best mentor. I don't stan GIDLE but I loooove Soyeon. In Unpretty Rapstar she took my heart and never gave it back lol
I’m so proud of Lia after every Itzy comeback. She is my bias and she works so hard which I admire. One of the most hardworking idols of this generation hands down despite the hate she got at the beginning of her career.
I definitely agree with you about winter.she’s my ultimate bias but she’s definitely lacking on stage presence.she’s loooks so shy and plain.but her visual plays a big part in her fancam views.people really attract to her visual.and yep she doesn’t need to attract people with her stage presence when she can attract it with her voice.she’s a great dancer but she needs to improve in her facial expressions if she can then she can be an amazing performer
@Faiz Hasnul yep.i love her visual, dance, vocals and rap but her stage presence is just so bad. She’s really need to work harder in facial expressions.but her visual already plays a big part in her fancam views.
i totally agree. i always say this but people constantly disagree with me. her beauty is another asset next to her dance and vocal skills but her beauty does not equal stage presence. if she wasn't as attractive as she is she would not have as many compliments on her so called "stage presence". winter is not the only member in aespa who does this. i feel like all of the members (excluding giselle, i feel that she has the most expression diversity on stage) have this problem.
@@chelsea8357 I think Ningning and Giselle are the best in facial expressions. I noticed they still keep acting, doing expressions even not their parts while others plain expressions when not their parts.
I agree with Soyeon being #1. IMO she's second to none in all of K-Pop right now. It's quite strange that even though she has monster stage presence, she's probably the least popular member in her group.
@@prettygirl7446 it’s really sad that some fans and definitely hater push this narrative that soyeon had bad personality and make poeple scared or don’t want to stan her and also people with pretty privileged are just really lucky
Its not that fans, its usually the other KPOP fans who say soyeon has bad personality because she gives shuhua little or no line and gives her self a lot of lines. But true fans know that its not true! Shuhua doesnt want lines. She literally asks her members what they want and How much they want and etc etc etc
I actually think Soyeon’s one of the most popular members in Gidle. Her Instagram followers are roughly the same number (about 1.1 million) as Shuhua and Miyeon, but her fancam’s views are usually much lower than them. Why is that? I have a rather simple answer: Because she has soooo much screen time in their official stage videos. She has a lot of lines and a lot of center time. (Well deserved - since she is a great rapper AND dancer) When I want to watch a lot of Shuhua/Yuqi/Miyeon (sometimes even Minnie and Soojin), I just have to go and find their individual fancams. For real. I can’t find Yuqi and Shuhua in Gidle’s official stage videos. They have so little screen time, because they have the least amount of lines in songs. They’re also not main dancers, so they don’t have a lot of center time either. Some people may think Yuqi has plenty of screen time, but…that’s not true. She makes a big impression when she’s on screen, but her screen time is one of the lowest in Gidle. Soojin (miss her so much…) is the main dancer and has a lot of center time, but her overall screen time still cannot compare to Soyeon, because she doesn’t have a lot of vocal lines. So basically, if I want to see Soyeon, why would I even bother checking her fancams? She is already the “Main Character” on Gidle’s stages. When I want to watch her perform, I usually just check Gidle’s official stage videos. Also, because she is such a queen, her presence is usually more interesting and powerful when she is surrounded by the other girls. It’s like how queens always go to places with a lot of court ladies by her majesty’s side. That’s partly why I don’t find Soyeon’s fancams as fun to watch as the main group videos. I just want to watch her being surrounded by the Gidle court ladies, like the queen that she is lol
@@_zuko. *shake hands* I also agree with your previous comment. Shuhua doesn't want lines, and Soyeon deserves all her lines. It's because Soyeon's rapping is usually the most impressive part of Gidle's songs. Her rap and Soojin's dance. She also has the best stage presence which means that it's often the best for her to sing the first verse of the title track. Minnie sometimes gets the first line because her dreamy mysterious voice perfectly fits the mysterious mood of a lot of Gidle songs (OMG, Lion etc). The first few lines of HWAA are technically easy to sing (its keys aren't too high and the melody is pretty simple), so technically Shuhua can do it. The second verse only has rapping + very powerful high notes which don't really suit Shuhua. So some people may think "Why don't soyeon give the first verse to shuhua?? How selfish! she already has the rap part in the 2nd verse!" But...no. I don't think Shuhua can pull off the 1st verse nearly as well as Soyeon, especially when performing on stage. No offence to Shuhua and most other gidle members, I love each one of them, but can they really take on the extremely important task of "shocking" an audience into staying and watching the rest of the performance? Because if they can't, most viewers are just gonna move on to another girlgroup. What is stopping someone from moving onto ITZY to watch Ryujin kicking off a performance with absolute FIRE? It's...it's the overwhelming charisma of Soyeon (plus her top-notch rapping skills) and Soojin (plus her top-notch dancing skills). Shuhua can have the first verse when she becomes the most charismatic and skilled performer, singer, or dancer in the group. Soyeon loves her and wouldn't refuse to give her anything that's within her ability to handle. I do know that the Chinese fanclub of Shuhua has been really really unhappy about her line distribution. After Hwaa's release, they even collectively refused to buy the new album, and said that they will never buy any future Gidle album unless Cube/Soyeon agrees to give Shuhua more lines. Yeah...they're pretty intense. But to me it just sounds very unreasonable, and ungrateful. I hope they change their minds. Shuhua is not mistreated in the group at all. She would have ZERO lines if Gidle had failed as a group. And Gidle is only the Gidle today because of Soyeon's genious songwriting and leadership. Cube is a freaking mess. Who knows how they would have mistreated Shuhua and the other Gidle members, if not for Soyeon being the guardian angel for them and telling Cube to "STOP YOUR BULLSHIT" whenever necessary.
I think after that era where they messed up line distribution and screentime Mia got the backlash like she was the one at fault for being the center. Ever since that I also don't see much commenting about her, but on the other hand I see so many for Onda always cheering her up and saying that she don't have much screentime and still shines. Honestly all everglow members shine no matter how much spotlight they have in the song so I think this is silly... Also everglow in general are extremely underrated they have the quality and talent needed for being as famous as all other groups on this list that are very sucessful and Everglow is still struggling with recongnition ):
I think it's because they just expected that much from her since YuHua prioritise her over the other members, but hey! Please show appreciation for Mia 😭
mia is absolutely INSANE. she has the best stage presence i think i’ve ever seen. coming from someone who professionally danced for 11 years. i’m always drawn to her on stage and beyond impressed and blown away every single time. she is such a powerhouse and an ace. yuehua got so lucky with her because she has natural born talent that is just incredible. i cant speak highly enough of her.
@@kealahehe8160 nope she’s not joining and never has!! everglow is, always will be, and always has been a 6 member girl group. yena is confirmed to be going solo in the 2nd half of this year!!
For me in all of female idols the only ones with god tier stage presence are CL, hwasa and soyeon(nearly) . They dont even need a choreo. Just give them mics they will catch your attention. Simply walking or smiling/smirking makes them stand out. They never feel forced.
I would add Hyuna, Hwasa tho, I think she sometimes adds too much, I love the girl, I really do, she is amazing in everything she does, but there are times when I wish she wpuld tone it down a bit, to control some expressions cause they start to have opposite effect. That's also just my opitinon so anyone is allowed to disagree and also this is not any type of hate towards her.
No because this explains everything about how my feelings of Winter changed. I watched the dance practice for Black Mamba and she killed it but then I watched the stage fancams and I was so confused as to where "Winter" went. This was spot on! Great video overall!
Some of the things I have noticed from Kpop dancers I admire like Yeji (ITZY), Ryujin (ITZY), Hyunjin (STRAYKIDS), Taemin (SUPERM), Kai (SUPERM) Ten (NCT), etc is that they are smooth but powerful when needed. 1. Tilting your head slightly forward when facing the front or cocking it to the side when using arms gives you an "exotic" look 2. Loose shoulders. Looking at Ten when he did the Doja Cat cover makes you appear very smooth. It gives you a natural swag. 3. Powerful popping when needed just puts the icing on the cake. My best example is Momo and Jihyo perfect world
Naurrr Yiren in First hits different, I swear she didn't radiate that energy back in Everglow other releases. Her smirk in MV for the second verse haunts me to this day...
SAME! finally i see someone said this. Her in First was really different than any of their previous releases. She looks more confident and goshhh the way she smirks, looks at the camera and dances. She's slaying that era.
As an hardcore nevie I feel like Miyeon´s and Shuhua´s job is to just stare at the camera and give that pure, innocent vibe, and even though that means having no stage presence, personally I enjoy it. Like when soyeon, Yuqi or soojin are slaying us with their expressions and moves and then it switches to miyeon or shuhua, the perfomance changes completely and i really like it. As for minnie, i feel like minnie´s weapon is her eyes because she can easily transmit different emotions in a way that u can tell what she is feeling Its just my opinion, but since this video talks about having or not stage presence and as a fan of all these groups i cant disagree with the rank
I feel like Ningning has so much untapped potential. Right now, I agree that Karina has the best stage presence in aespa, but I feel that Ning might surpass her with time and the right comeback concept. I find her very similar to Rose from blackpink (laptop keyboard, that's why no accent ), the goddess energy which you referred to. She is a tad bit under-confident while dancing from what I've observed , but her alluring gaze and struts give her an amazing aura. As aespa goes forward, I feel like she'll become one of the best 4th gen performers, and she might even add the dominant performance type in her archetype (seeing her in dreams come true made me have this hunch).
Y’all need to watch E:U’s fancams, she has one of the best stage presence of the 4th gen but sadly she doesn’t have any center time, screentime or even LINES to defend that up. She’s arguably one of the bests. Please watch her FIRST fancams and her facecam!
you should do a ranking of the girls planet 999 trainees based on what we've seen so far, and then make a part two after the final lineup is announced. i already have a few girls in mind who i think are really strong performers, but i'd like to see your thoughts!! also, a 4th gen bg ver? ex. txt, atz, skz, enha, tbz, etc. loved the video btw!!
The amount of times San was mentioned in this video is insane... do you know why? It ie because he has set a new standard of performance that no one has ever reached so far. He is just another level. I can't stop complimenting this man... he is just so mind-blowingly good!
Yess!! When she said san needs to tone it down sometimes I was kinda sad cuz I was like- what noo!!! That's what I love so much about him!! That's what makes him unique from everyone else! San is still preforming like his usual demon so it's okay😅
I initially thought Karina was more masculine than feminine in her performance style but after listening to the points you made in this video, I can understand why she would be a feminine archetype. I think the reason why I thought she was more masculine was because I was more focused on how she interpreted certain moves/gestures in their choreography rather than her overall body language. For example, she attacks the drop point dance in black mamba differently compared to Winter, but in the last chorus of the song, that’s when you really see her feminine qualities as a performer shine through.
@@everglowup Thank you for this video.... Many Winter solo stans were saying that Winter should've been the center... When infact she has the weakest stage presence out of all of them.... This video will be an eye opener for them.....Karina is really very good on stage and Ningning too.
Maybe this is why sm decided winter as a visual only than visual/center. She so pretty and her voice is outstanding but it seems like she lack in confidence when performing and yeah karina just have that umph and attention grabbing quality about her that a center should have. When aespa first debuting, winter is the most popular member due to her visuals, after that the attention gravitated towards to karina for obvious reasons.
thank you for putting into words (and categories) EXACTLY how I feel about Ryujin's performances. I always see in comments everywhere that watching her is so "Satisfying" and I understand why now. Her sharp, hip-hop dancing style + dominant stage presence and facial expressions = really eye-catching and enjoyable to watch personally I think she and Soyeon for sure work the camera the best
Soyeon is a genius Queen, she is such an amazing complete artist, imagine if this girl were an excellent and deep song writer, composer, killing freestyle raps, incredible vocal too, producer and a leader....OMG!
For me personally, Wendy has the most stage presence not just because of her facials but because she’s very energetic and is great at hyping up a crowd through that energy if that makes sense. A good example is their performance of hit that drum
i can really only speak for itzy since im not rly into any other gg but yuna is my fave performer in the group! shes just always a pleasure to watch since when the concept requires it she can look fierce or smile like she's the happiest person on the room. i love how she's always able to look so genuinely happy, you just know she really loves performing when she's on stage! she suits every concept
As an ATINY one thing I noticed was how people constantly claimed that Ateez over dances and while that is their opinion there were some people who went as far as to hate on them for that which isn't fair. What I wasn't aware of however was how San had been targeted with ableist comments about his stage presence. I cannot believe there are people who do things like this. But one thing I want to make clear to ATINY is that I am not like that. I am not a bully and I love San with all of my heart but I have been characterized as one of those people who do so. lt actually hurt me to the point where I cried because I love him so much and to be equated to people who bully him really hurts me. I am sorry to ATINY who have had to deal with this unnecessary hate that the boys get but I promise you I am not one of them. I love Ateez so much and I would never make fun of how passionate San and the boys are. Their stage presence is amazing and like I said in the video they are some of the best performers in Kpop and San is a rare gem in the industry for that. 💖
Idk why haters said ateez are over dance :( but I just want to say after I found ateez I felt some of idols from another group are lacking of expression when they perform :(
@@choerrychile5042 Yiren is pretty average at both dancing and singing. Quit crying and acting like she doesn’t get high views cause of pretty privilege.
@@Jonghogummybear okay I have just about had it with you stupidity and your annoying self! I told you SEVERAL times under your comment that I don't hate San or Ateez, that I get to have opinions if I want. But you keep ignoring the way I praised San and whine about it how I think he need to tone in down SOMETIMES? Now you say I am SPREADING A HATEFUL NARRATIVE bout him? Are you even for real. Ateez did not hire you to be their gatekeeper and stop attacking people who actually don't hate them and keep all that energy for actual haters my god! This is ridiculously stupid...
@@choerrychile5042 I have been a fan of Everglow since debut and that's how I personally feel about Yiren's skills. Even as a lead dancer she doesn't compare at all to the dance line and Everglow has a powerful dance line. I did appreciate her significant improvement in FIRST but before that she just wasn't that appealing talent and stage presence wise. I mean it's my channel and my video, I am sorry that you got my opinion instead oof yours...
@@choerrychile5042 I mean that there is a massive gap between her dance skills and the rest of the dance line so it doesn't make sense to me that she is in the dance line. But it's just my opinion,l anyways. No I don't expect her to be as good as Mia and EU but there should not be ab insanely recognizable gap. Onda is a lead dancer and the margin between her and the main dancers is pretty Small and with Yiren it's massive in terms of technique, that's what I mean. How does that make me a solo Stan when actually happen to love Yiren? 💀 some of y'all need to grow up and realize that loving an idol and critiquing their talent is not an oxymoron...
Soyeon being on top is 100% true like damn that girl is giving us everything every single time. Yeji, Mia and Karina were also the first ones I noticed in their groups, now I know the reasons why. I also always thought that Miyeon kinda lacked something. Although I love the tone of her voice I barely keep my eyes on her in (G)I-DLE performances (same thing with Shuhua) The only one I completely disagree with is Minnie. In “Oh my god” the one who mesmerised me the most (after Soyeon) was Minnie. Like the opening and ending parts were just giving me chills. Also, in their performances to “oh my god” her facial expressions were out of this world. Yes, she’s not doing much but just like you said: her eyes are doing the job. Though, I still thought that Soyeon was killing it in “oh my god” even more, in “Hwaa” Minnie was definitely the one who stood out the most to me. Though I agree with you that she clearly isn’t the best, Minnie still deserves a much higher place. Definitely a higher rank than Lia, Winter and Shiyeon. Maybe even Chaeryeoung although I think it’s almost a tie between them. Love them all though, even Miyeon in the last place is a good performer and deserves to be an Idle. Edit: I’d also put Soojin much higher, definitely above all Aespa members. Just watched her “artist of the month” performances and damn. Miss her.
In a group of multiple members, I know it's hard for an individual to stand out with just appearance. So I can't fault EU for trying something different. Hell, when Dosie debuted with PURPLE KISS, it was her blonde bob that got everyone to notice her when before everyone was looking forward to Go Eun and Yuki. It wasn't as if Dosie didn't have that monster talent before, but she just blended in because of normal haircut. So I can't fault EU's bangs on this one. Sorry. I actually kind of like them. I just think people are noticing her less because they are (finally) noticing Onda more.
Soyeon is literally my fave 4th Gen Performer. No one comes close. And Yuna & Ryujin has the Best stage presence in Itzy. I see natural born performers for them. For everglow, I love Mia. Ningning is the best performer too in AESPA.
Your winter description was so right and the whole ballad thing is on point. Her most viewed clip is her cover of a ballad song on knowing bros. She manages to grab you with her voice
When I first saw Everglow, Mia got me right away.. Like her stage presence can’t compare to other 4th gen idols Like it’s literally the best stage presence i’ve ever seen since I got into kpop… 😭 And QUEEN IS A WHOLE ACE she really pulled out that card on me captivating me once more😩✋🏼 Idk but there’s just something about Mia and Soyeon that just make 4th gen much more entertaining. Mia being an ace and soyeon being the best main rapper is just wow to me. Queens served and still do till this day
The way I said “speak on it!!!” when you mentioned Jihyo. She’s not even a main dancer but she has the most stage presence in Twice (imo, at least) and nails the concept each and every era. I would love to see you go into more detail on Twice and maybe some other girl groups like Red Velvet, Blackpink and Dreamcatcher!
No pls- Are you a mind reader because I put up a poll last week on who I should analyse next and my subs vote for me to do Red Velvet vs BlackPink vs Twice vs Dreamcatcher... 😳
@@everglowup omg??? Then it must’ve been the stars aligning (or the youtube algorithm LMAO) that led me to this vid! Definitely gonna sub now to know your thoughts!
@@thebigbangtheoryispuregarbage i agree but jihyo really has that cativating aura coz even if shes not in the center or on the screen she still executes her performance like 110%
Honestly Shiyeon to me along with Mia carries the most consistent stage presence for the whole time they perform in an era. Her eyes are crazy. After a couple performances the other girls start to lag but Shiyeon along with Mia and even Yiren are pretty consistent
I like Chaeryeong, Aisha, Mia, Minnie, Soojin and Karina stage Presence there my top 6. More people should watch this because you define stage presence perfectly because people believe stage presence is facial expression. Does confident play role in stage presence? I just want to know because lately Chaer been gaining confidence also her facial expression in my opinion is getting better.
I was always concerned with Yiren's lack of stage presence since she is the center of Everglow. She was able to get by on sheer physical beauty. But, I am glad that she is improving.
I'm kinda surprised that Everglow-Up thinks Irene has the best stage presence in RV, and really likes Ningning's stage presence, but thinks Minnie has low stage presence. Ningning and Minnie even look a bit similar. Maybe because Ningning dances better (e.g. has better torso control and better dynamics) than Minnie, and sings more powerfully compared to Minnie's dreamy soft vocals (that's just her preferred singing style - I'm totally fine with it)? Basically, there's something about Minnie that makes Everglow think that she's a "covert" performer with subtle stage presence, whereas Ningning is considered a "overt" performer with intense stage presence. I think it's this "covert" part that lowered Minnie's ranking, because "dominant" performers stand out more with overt energy. If we were to compare Minnie and Ningning, both of them have super intense eyes, but minimal facial expressions. Ningning is even classified as a "sensual" performer (subtle body language), while Minnie is "dominant" performer (strong body language). What makes Ningning's sensual style beat Minnie's dominant style in Everglow-Up's mind? Mmm...it has to be the dancing skills, right? I can't think of any other logical explanation. If that's the case, then it's fair enough. I do think Minnie can still improve on her dancing skills to make it more controlled and dynamic. Dominant performers need high-level dancing skills, compared to "charismatic" performers (like Yuqi) who have more facial expressions (usually coupled with energetic intense vocals) to make up for the loss and divert attention away from the average dancing skills. That's probably why Everglow-Up praised Minnie's stage presence during Dumdi Dumdi. That was when she had the most facial expressions and became more of a "charismatic" type of performer. But anyway, I still think Minnie ultimately shines the most as a dominant performer. She just naturally has that "all eyes on me" "my existence speaks for itself" energy. It doesn't fit her very chill personality to be the charismatic type (intense face and body). I think she can gradually develop into a feminine-overt/dominant performer like Karina, or even a masculine-feminine-overt/dominant type, kinda like Ryujin. That would be so freaking cool.
Of course not only you. Minnie has good stage presence, almost the same level as Soojin. Now that soojin has left, Minnie is the second in their group in terms of stage presence
@@zhasyane oh my god I love Minnie but she is no where near soojin. Soojin has great facial expressions overoll energy better charisma while I watching Minnie she is actually blant sometimes
You blew my mind when you were talking about how certain styling can make a masculine/feminine performer stand out more! I was like: wait a damn minuteㅡ
I don't know about soyeon. But everyone talking about her I think she deserve #01. And I think whole ITZY stage presence is incredible. Not bc I stan them you can see their live performance. After bp itzy stage is my fav. ( I'm not comparing. )
Soyeon just oozes charisma like a smoke screen that fills the entire stage so wherever you look you cant get Soyeon out of the picture. Soyeon's Stage presence is really "a boss ass bitch" and this is also the reason why the solo stan always complain that soyeon overshine the others and hates her for it(some even fuckin said that soyeon should tone it down and try to fit with the other)like damn haters/solo stan really makes me so freakin crazy😧 And the reason why Soyeon and yuqi is my fav in (G)i-dle is because when they're performing they really enjoy serving up a performance And I'm so happy to see my three fav to have the top 3 spot(though I'm a really huge Soyeon fan)
Oh god I HATE it when people tell a certain group member to tone it down “for the rest of the group”. An idol’s performance should fit the concept of the song (e.g. Soyeon kinda toned down her dancing for Hwaa because it’s an elegant concept), but it doesn’t need to “fit” other group members. Y’all just have to catch up to the strongest. This is how we “make Kpop great again”😂 By aiming for the stars! Not telling the stars to come down a bit because they stand too high above the rest. Excellence cannot compromise for mediocrity. That would be the doom of Kpop (and the entire humanity lol)
In this video, the only group I actually stan is Itzy but I watched the whole thing because it was so interesting. I am just here to say that I love this content and I would love more videos like this!
As a Soyeon-biased Ondastan.... I appreciate your ranking lol Also agree with Mia in second and here's why. Mia is still "Mia" off-stage. She's straightforward - energy is the same so to me, that's easier. Ever watched any vids of Soyeon off-stage???? Two words: the duality. She was born to perform. She keeps~ getting better and her haters *should* eat crow. I live for my tiny marshmallow!!! Because she is such a soft-hearted, sweet person and does NOT deserve the hate she got and still gets, but she will still come on stage and serve like she does it 24/7! #thatswhyshecomesfirst
Soyeon is a powerhouse and simply on another level, she’s and artist that happens to be in an idol group right now. She excels in writing, production, dance, and her rap is on another level. She’s the next CL, I can see her going solo and then starting up her own label in the future, maybe even managing talent herself. She’s insane. Also, the way you did this video is so good! I love the classifications.
Am I the only who’s been simping for Ryujin hahahahaha I find her really cool with facial expressions and how her moves is accurately with her expressions she does it naturally without being over with it
Damn, I agree. Honestly, I wasn't paying much attention to Everglow expect their debut and even after all that time I can say that I remeber Mia as a strikingly good performer during their debut.
I really like how you set San from Ateez as an example. When I first got into the fandom, believe me, I WAS MESMERIZED with San's performance. He does carry both masculine and feminine energy. He's so fluid in his moves and his charisma snatches your attention. He's pretty overt yes, but I am not overwhelmed by it. Still, thank you for mentioning him a lot.
Who I also think is godly underrated as a performer and is one of the best in the 4th gen: LOONA Heejin. She literally can do anything. Feminine as in hi high, masculine as in so what, sexy as in greedy, charismatic as in why not, dominant as in, again, so what. She may come across as intense as in so what, why not, ptt or as subtle like in butterfly, full moon and vivid. She literlly can do anything.
She is as the saying goes "the real deal." Being a huge Loona fan, I think the member that is being overshadowed/held back is JinSoul. That young lady has huge talent that is not being exploited.
ok but Chaer improved so much, she's slowly gaining back her confidence and presence in MINTM era. When looking at the fancam, I felt like she was moving her face to the music without paying much attention to her facial expressions, making it feel natural! Especially during AOTM, she can express herself now not only in her moves but facial expressions.
also, sorry for comenting twice but i love the way you categorized the stage prescence, i would love it if you used this same categorization for other brutally rankings of groups stage presence, love u!!!
Can you please make an updated listed of these groups? So many of them improved since this video! Also maybe a list on nmixx, IVE, le sserafim, and new jeans? Baby monster, kiss of life, and young posse? I love how you classified the stage presence archetypes! This was a very thorough and well thought out list!
Itzy definitely has the most balanced stage presence. I’m honestly not a huge fan of their songs (except MITM and Wannabe and Loco) but the group itself intrigues me the most. Like I love watching their performances and also interviews cause I’m in love with their personalities. (G)I-dle is probably the group I listen to the most because I really enjoy their type of music, especially oh my god, lion and the “I burn” album. Also, love their personalities. Though I agree they don’t top Itzy nor Everglow in stage presence. Though I say that they have better stage presence than Aespa to me. Maybe it’s because of the fact that Aespa is still such a young group but their performances kinda bore me (watch their MAMA performances). I mean Blackpink also doesn’t do much fancy new stuff in live performances but it’s different there because they have much better stage presence. Maybe it’s also because I just can’t find myself enjoying Aespas music in contrast to Blackpink.
This is the only ranking video on the whole of UA-cam that I completely agree with because it's research is done so well, the reasons for the ranking make sense and it is completely unbiased. Thanks for the amazing effort you put into this queeeeen.
I love all these groups and I kinda have the same opinion. Soyeon is definitely #1 in terms of stage presence IMO. Her Produce 101 especially her UPR truly helped build her confidence
Sometimes i come back to this video while i clean but sometimes I think about hiw cube seems to be somewhat aware of gidles unbalanced group stage presence and thats why shuhua was pushed to take soojins role of softening soyeons presence compared to the rest. Like in their crazy relay dance its most obvious- soojins role was to directly contradict soyeon and then yuqi bridged strong from weak. Minnie could handle herself and shuhua/ miyeon had other members dancing with them.
@@theanti-veela-leprechaunShe only announced it on a live stream. Well… she didn’t announce it. She told people it’s coming and had us guess the line up. Spoilers: It’s IVE, Le Sserafim, NMIXX, and Billlie There’s no official date of when to expect it to actually come out. But I’m so hyped knowing that it’s happening!
It's fascinating that I was able to recognize a bunch of the things you mentioned but was never able to break down what I was thinking. It makes so much more sense why Mia and Onda complement each other on stage now and why Yeji not quite being a handsome female idol in my mind. Not really related to the ranking of stage presence, but my favorites when watching individual fancams are Onda, Yeji, Yuna, Ning Ning, Soyeon, and Yuqi. For group fancams, I enjoy watching all of them, but I often find myself watching Itzy's performances with all of them because I love seeing the whole choreography and their chemistry (same with Everglow, but I'm Onda biased so I tend to watch her fancams right after watching their stages). For (G)IDLE and Aespa, I feel as though their choreography was made to be seen with camera work and different angles so I find myself enjoying the stages more than the fancams most of the time (this is something that I find RedVelvet also suffers from because when there are close-ups, the performances are more engaging, but without them, the choreography can feel a bit dull in certain moments)
Tbh, I’d love to see you do this ranking again. I feel like a lot of folks you had ranked lower have improved in major ways, including some people sort of changing their types? Like Yuna I would say has changed to a little masculine Charismatic. Yuqi has seemed to have leaned into a sensual archetype since tomboy. Although I guess there isn’t much new everglow content
Omg I see no one talking about Soyeon like queen of stage presence tbh I feel like give her a couple years and she might be able to be compared to Queen hwasa stage presence her stage presence come on now tell my one stage she ain’t ate up. You can’t 😭
idle is a spectrum lol. Happy shuhua is not last but tbh wasn't expecting miyeon there either. Soyeon performing beam beam really showed how much fun she has on stage
This is one of my favourite analysis videos. I loved how you took time to do your research and categorized performance based on archetypes. It was so much fun to watch!
I would love to see this ranking play out on more traditionally "feminine" groups. Oh My Girl, Gfriend, Lovelyz, etc etc. Groups that have strong performances on their own right, but their concept is strongly leaning to a more traditional/stereotypical girly-girl style than girl crush. Like, Sin B from Gfriend, despite their concept is clearly a masculine performer according to this ranking and it would be very interesting to see your take on that.
I think masculine and feminine energies, can be simplify the aura around the idols. The Overt and Covert, would be how much energy they put in the stage in each move, that mean that if you put too much can look exaggerated. The 3rd part can be similar to the first one, the kind of aura around the idol, but I think is better explain like this: dominant/charismatic/sensual are the essence of the idol and the dynamic that they use. I did this for remind myself 🙂
I stan ITZY, aside from Blackpink. I'm crazy inlove with itzy, they are amazing performers, i love their stage presence, oozing charisma, one of the most synchronized kpop groups ive seen, they are stable in singing while dancing, love their songs, they have great personalities, itzy has a great chemistry as a group/team. ITZY is literally ALL IN US.
About Miyeon, while it’s true that stage presence isn’t her forte she did improve since debut and did well in Hwaa, I like her elegant aura and don’t find her boring (the comments under several Hwaa stages are filled with people praising her including comments about her stage presence improvement and I like her presence more than Shuhua’s), her fancams have the 3rd most views overall among Idle members, she’s the most popular member in Korea and trends easily on k-social medias, she ranked 3rd most popular female idol in Februrary behind Jennie and Rosé and 4th idol who appeals the most to the Korean lesbian community in 2021 ; my point is Miyeon does attract people and is charming so I don’t think she should be qualified as unbearably boring especially since her presence improved, not to mention her position is main vocalist/visual and she excells at it (she’s picked to sing OSTs and is recognized as a top-tier visual and a main visual of the 4th gen (Knetz and k-medias praise her beauty a lot, idols voted her as the 3rd best female visual this year and last year, she started acting (3 roles), she’s Mcountdown’s MC (their 1st female MC in 13 years) a Naver radio show host and a variety show fixed cast)
If u have a pretty face ur fancam views also blew up just like shuhua, winter, yiren ( she improved in first) I'm not saying these idols doesn't have talent but they r lacking stage presence
No doubt Soyeon is No. 1 Just imagine being in a competition with 100 other girls then almost debuting with the top 11, then there's the time when senior rappers were either fond of her or scared of her. She took all experience she can in those show and now we have HER.
In my opinion stage presence is really important to a kpop group because sometimes even if you're talented enough it won't just show because you're having a hard time catching the attention of audiences.
Take as an example of BlackPink, I saw a lot of comments that there's a lot of girl groups that are better than them in terms of singing, dancing, and rapping but yet those given girl groups can't even reach BP's charisma level hence making more BlackPink more popular than them.
Another example of that is Mamamoo. Mamamoo start from scratch from having only three audiences up to thousands of them now. Mamamoo charisma and stage presence really catch the eyes of audiences making them more popular every comeback. It is also inevitable to stan them because of their amazing vocals.
I finally found a person who actually understands and is seeing from my point of view. Everything you said is exactly how I see them everytime. No one understands me but finally i found someone who is actually the same with me. What you have said in this vid is my exact same opinion.
My gurl Yuqi being 11? I'll take it 😌 My daughter Yuna at 7? DESERVED. I dunno, aespa have constantly unimpressed me in their work so far but I mainly blame their "we're AIs" concept SM forces them to stick to. They did way better during their sm town collabs with the other sm artists, felt like we were finally seeing THEM perform.
You know, I’ve been focusing more on Aespa’s stage presence and how their hair affects it. Here’s what I think: *Karina* = Has the best presence when her hair is long and jet black. It really allows her facial features to shine. This is true amongst all concepts. *Giselle* = Darker browns with a bit of black and maybe some highlights. In “Next Level”, her hair switches between jet black and then dark brown with more of an orangy-pink color ombre pattern. When her hair near her roots and eyebrows is darker, her stage presence is better. This only applies to girl crush concepts. In songs like “Forever”, it would have been better to see her with lighter brown hair. But in “Black Mamba”, the blonde wasn’t doing her any favors and softened her dominant energy too much (when they should have been trying to increase Winter’s charismatic energy instead). *Winter* = Speaking of cuter concepts, Winter just took all of the attention for me during “Forever” era. I think she looks better with lighter yet vivid hair colors like light brown and blonde. The dark brown and platinum hair in “‘Next Level” didn’t let her charismatic side come out, which usually shows a lot of warmth to offset Karina’s confidence and Giselle’s dominance. *Ning Ning* = She’s like the Lisa of the group. Both maknaes thrive when there’s some extra pizazz in their hair. In “Black Mamba”, her hair was either light brown while her outfit was brightly colored or her hair had shaded of silver and violet with metallic glasses on. Or in “Next Level”, she was rocking the vivid red, Rihanna-esque hair style! But in “Forever”, the jet black wasn’t doing it for me. This video and Mera’s about “Why You Can’t Take Your Eyes Off Of Blackpink” really got me thinking about just how important your hair, makeup, and wardrobe really are in determining stage presence!
@@thebigbangtheoryispuregarbage Sure thing! *Irene* = Her hair is always best longer. Also, she really shines with natural hair colors. I really don't like her hair in Happiness, Russian Roulette, or Rookie. She (like Joy, who I'll talk about in a bit) are the most feminine performers in the group. She focuses more on being dainty and precise with her motions. Because of this, her body language isn't that strong and her hair needs to bring out her facial features. For cuter concepts like Red Flavor, Power Up, and Umpah Umpah, it's better for her hair to be more of a lighter brown as she tends to smile more and it really gives her a bright aura. During their more sensual concepts like Bad Boy, Psycho, and Monster, it's better for her to have pitch black hair. She focuses a little less on her mouth and more on drawing in the user with her eyes. The darker colors really let the intensity of her eyes shine through. I also think that she looks best when her hair is either in a ponytail or has some form of headpiece/hair band. You can see things like this in Bad Boy, Umpah Umpah, Power Up, Psycho, etc. It really allows her eyes, mouth, and cheek bones to shine through. *Seulgi* = As Everglow-Up mentioned, Seulgi has more of a masculine stage presence. And masculine performers tend to work better with shorter and darker hair. I think it's safe to say that Seulgi's Psycho hairstyle is one of her most iconic. With Seulgi though, I don't actually think it needs to be dark or short specifically. But her hair needs to be a bolder, solid color (and short usually works best for her). What do I mean by this? I really don't think that Seulgi's hair works for her in Happiness, Ice Cream Cake, Rookie, Russian Roulette or Automatic eras. Eras where I think her hair looks amazing are when it's a bolder color. When it comes to blonde, she looks great in RBB. Or, for orange, Queendom looks much better! And even Red Flavor and Umpah Umpah work because she has a more vivid shade of brown. And that's more so prominent in Power Up because her hair's shorter. But ultimately, she has a very dominant side to her performance style that comes through with jet black hair (Bad Boy, Psycho, Monster, etc.). That type of hair really brings your focus to her eyes and it's almost overwhelming when she looks at you (which is what makes her so captivating). *Wendy* = Wendy strives best with shorter hair (like other masculine performers) or actually ombres. I love her hair in music videos like Happiness, Peek-A-Boo, Red Flavor, Umpah Umpah, and Queendom. Wendy is a very overt, energetic performer that's always smiling. So, hair styles that are shorter or brighter (including her blonde from Psycho era) really bring out her smile and charismatic energy! But they do need to be careful with the styling of the brighter colors. Don't get me started on the mess that was One Of These Nights era. Wendy was supposed to shine the most because it was a ballad comeback. Instead, her hair looked really bad. If they were going to give her that hair color, they should have propped it up. This is why I find her more captivating during the Bad Boy era when her hair is in a ponytail. When her hair is a darker shade and let down, it can cover up all of the facial features (mouth and cheeks) that are a part of her smile! *Joy* = Joy can rock any hair length (as we've seen her do with shorter hair styles). But like Irene, she carries a lot of feminine energy when performing. Irene's performance style is very dainty and queenly. Joy's is elegant and gracious. She thrives on movements that are long and flowing (which is why she looks amazing during the bridge and final chorus of Psycho). Her hair serves as an extension to her movements. As far as colors go, she's usually better off with darker styles. Personally, I think the blonde in Russian Roulette and Automatic don't suit her. But the darker green in Happiness, the deeper red in Red Flavor and the licorice black that she often dawns. She still looks good in light brown such as Power Up. But it doesn't have the same effect. And I really dislike when she has her hair up. There are some stage performances of Psycho where her hair is fully propped up. It makes her movements feel incomplete and passive. When her hair is flowing, that airiness to her movements makes her look like a goddess! *Yeri* = Finally, onto our favorite maknae! Yeri's performance style is very cutesy and endearing. Color-wise, it's simple. She looks amazing with natural shades of brown. If they give her non-brown hair, it needs to style be a natural color or muted. Like for Red Flavor, they gave her blonde hair. It's still natural looking and worked well with the concept (but I think she would've looked better with light brown like in Umpah Umpah). Or in the Psycho promotional pictures, she had a very light shade of baby pink (it was very muted). So, even in a darker concept, it didn't feel out of place. That's where I stand in terms of Yeri and her hair color. Length is a totally different game. I think she feels the most comfortable when her hair is longer but the most confident when her hair is shorter. What do I mean by this? In Peek-A-Boo and Bad Boy era, her hair was usually shorter and she was actually expressing a lot more dominant and sensual energy than normal. But in Psycho (another darker concept), her hair was longer. During her part of the second verse, she's being cute and playful. Same with Zimzalabim. You see her doing some hair flips and smiling a lot. So, I think her lengthier hair lets her bring out the jovial energy she usually feels more comfortable expressing. *TLDR* Irene = Longer hair, preferably tied up (can be lighter browns, but works best as black) Seulgi = Any length, shorter works better though (vivid colors work, especially black) Wendy = Shorter hair, longer workers when tied up or ombre (brighter colors like light browns and blonde or ombre work best for colors) Joy = Always longer (Black works best, but other darker colors like evergreen and raspberry work too) Yeri = Shorter for girl crush concepts, longer for all other concepts (thrives best with natural shades or brown, but other natural or muted colors work too) Sorry that this was so long! Since Red Velvet's been around a lot longer, there are more styles to consider when trying to determine what works best for each member.
@@thebigbangtheoryispuregarbage We're just gonna go through the entire KPop industry, aren't we? Lol Okay, here are my thoughts on them. And let me preface this that it's going to be confusing to talk about hair length. With women, there's usually a distinct difference between long and short hair. With men, most idols don't have long hair like Taemin of Shinee or Junji of OnlyOneOf. So, I'll try to clarify when talking about long versus short hair. Anyways, let's get into it: *RM* = RM has a subtle smile. By that, I mean that he pretty much is always smiling, but his mouth rarely opens. Instead, he smiles with his lips and his eyes. Because of this, he thrives more so with vibrant and pastel colored hair. Think of examples of hair colors like silver in Boy With Luv, teal in Dynamite, hot pink in Butter, and neon in Permission To Dance. So, these brighter colors bring out his eyes better and give them more light. Because most of his smile comes from his eyes, it makes him more charismatic! As far as length goes, it's better when he keeps it shorter. By that, I mean that the top can be lengthy, but the sides should either be kept short or styled that they stay close to the sides of his head. That way, it lets his cheekbone structure stand out more (which further improves how powerful his smile can be). Speaking of which, I also really think that he should keep his entire forehead exposed. Not only does it help his eyes stand out, but smarter people tend to just give off a better aura when their forehead is on full display. Now, he still looks good with darker colors (browns and blacks). However, I feel like it makes him look too boring that way. It just doesn't elevate his presence and makes him fade into the background. *Jin* = Jin is like Irene (the third gen visual line is too powerful!) in that his strength comes from the intensity of his eyes. He comes off as a more dominant performer when on stage. Because of this, you want that intensity in his eyes to shine. So, anything lighter than black (even dark brown), isn't going to do him just. Of course, he still looks great with browns, blondes, pinks, etc. The problem is, it takes away from the intensity in his eyes and the performance overall. For an extreme example, it would be like a professional wrestler showing up in a tutu. The intensity and dominance is still there. But it's not in full effect. Also, for Jin, length doesn't matter as much. What does matter is his shape. Like with Onda and E:U, THE BANGS HAVE TO GO!!! lol Jin's strength being with his eyes means that the top half of his head needs to be unobstructed. So, he can have long or short hair. As long as it's dark and parted in the center to let his forehead and eyes be fully visible, then it works well! This means that his hair can partially cover his forehead as long as it's very minor and the hairstyle is parted down the center of this face. *Suga* = Suga is a lot like Seulgi. His hair style really needs to be catered toward whatever the concept of their performance/music video is. When you have a more lighthearted concept, he works better with lighter and brighter colors. Think of him with electric blue hair for DNA, blonde for Lights, sapphire for Boy With Luv, and even light brown in Life Goes On. Whereas, when he has darker hair in those concepts, it comes off as wrong. Look at him with black hair in Dynamite. It looks out of place. Even in Butter he has streaks of plum in his hair and raspberry in Idol. That's just enough of a pop of color for it to work. For their dark concepts, his hair works perfectly when it's in the extremes of the color spectrum or lack there of color. From lighter colors like silver in Mic Drop or platinum blonde in Daechwita to pitch black (also in Daechwita) as well as in Fake Love as well as Not Today where he has midnight blue shades in his hair. That might still give him a little color, but the lighting in the video doesn't make it very noticeable. Then, we have a lack of color. In music videos like On or Black Swan, his hair is a very ashy grey. This really takes away some of the charismatic energy he normally has and lets him come off as more dominant. Now, length wise, I think he should keep it short. However, he has the exact opposite face of RM. Whereas RM's prominent facial features stick to the top half of his face, Suga's stay with the bottom half. He smiles a little more openly and he has a fully cheekbone structure. So, he can either have his forehead completely open, covered a little, or fully draped with bangs. As long as his hair is appropriately colored for the concept, it works. When the concepts are darker (and his hair is black, white, or grey), it adds to the intensity of his eyes and it actually helps that it's right on top of them. When his hair is lighter, his eyes and cheekbones become more of a focal point and he comes off as more endearing. The duality of this man is not to be underestimated. *J-Hope* = My hope, your hope, our hope! It's J-Hope! This man could be bald and I'd be totally okay with that. He is one of the most expressive performers in all of KPop! The way that he uses his eyes, eyebrows, smile, etc. he is a true performer! And it matches his body language because he gives us EVERYTHING! Now, we're talking about hair. So, let me get back to that. I actually really love his looks from Mic Drop, Chicken Noodle Soup, and We Are Bulletproof Pt. II when he has a head band to put his hair back. Or in their most recent comeback, Permission To Dance, I think that's the shortest that his hair has ever been. And it looks incredible! In terms of color, he needs to keep it lighter. Light browns like Boy With Luv, platinum blondes like Butter, and orangy-pinks like in DNA work so well for him! They match his energetic and bubbly personality so well! Now, the only reason why I'm not knocking him with black hair is because he always wears very vibrant and flamboyant colors in his style. So, it makes up for when his hair isn't fully there. So yeah, I don't care about the length or shape of his hair so much. I just want it to not obstruct any part of his face because he uses all of it while performing. *Jimin* = Stop giving this many darker colored hair. Jimin has some of the most amazing eyes that I've ever seen. They're luminescent and angelic. This works best with bright and metallic hair styles. Blondes like in DNA and Lights, vibrant colors like the strawberry blonde in Boy With Luv or multicolored like in Butter are all amazing examples of when his bright hair brings out eyes and draw you in. You also get the same effectiveness in Dynamite where he hair is more of a silvery color and that brings out the sparkle in his eyes. Now, that doesn't mean that he can't have darker hair styles. In Black Swan and On, his hair experiments with shades of blue. They work well for those concepts and he knows how to convey his emotions through his eyes. HOWEVER, the raspberry hair in Permission To Dance isn't doing him any favors. If he was going to walk onto the No Diggity by Oneus music video (which is a bop btw), then he'd look the part. But in a happier concept, it was counterproductive. Similar to RM, he needs his hair to not obstruct his eyes and forehead as they're focal points of his stage presence. The bigger his eyes appear, the more captivating they are. His hair can be any length in my opinion. But he is like Joy in that a lot of his movements are graceful and elegant. So, it's better when it's on the longer side so that it can compliment his body language. *V* = I'm actually at a loss for words. V's so stoic on stage. He seems to be the most dominant of the BTS members. He shows very few facial expressions. Maybe a wink or a smirk here and there. Or he's brush his hair back. But in all of my research (if you wanna call this research), there are no hair styles that work better or worse for V. He just makes it all work. I'm sorry that I don't have anything more to add. I will say that it's better if his hair remains its usual length or longer just for normalcy sake. But he could probably pull off shorter hair if he wanted to. *Jungkook* = Absolutely looks better with darker hair. Even the cosmic purple from Butter looks amazing! I don't think that the strawberry blonde from Idol or the light brown from DNA work that well for him. Jungkook may be the youngest, but he has this air of mystery around his. So, darker colored hair adds to that. And the length doesn't matter, but I think it looks better when it's longer. Also when his bangs cover half of his face, it really adds to that feeling of mysteriousness with Jungkook. So, I'm not a huge fan of the short hair, full bangs look in Permission To Dance. However, it does make him look more mature and I like that visual representation of him growing up (because we all know that a lot of people are failing to see it). I seriously think that Fake Love, Boy With Luv, On, and Black Swan are some of his best looks!
@@thebigbangtheoryispuregarbage *TLDR* RM = Brighter hair colors. Length can either be short overall or lengthy on top and short on the sides. Just keep his forehead completely exposed. Jin = His hair has to be as dark as possible. Length doesn't matter, but it can't fully obstruct his forehead and eyes. Suga = Hair color has to match the concept. Should keep it short. Works better when he has bangs, but can choose any level of forehead exposure. J-Hope = Vibrant hair styles work better. But darker colors work well too because he offsets them with his colorful clothes styling. Personally though, I think his hair should be styled back (whether it be gelled back or held back with a headband/scarf). Jimin = Works better with lighter, brighter, and metallic hair styles. Longer styles compliment his body language. Like RM, he needs to keep his hair away from his face so that his eyes can really shine through. V = Can literally pull of any style, any color, any length, ANYTHING!!! Jungkook = Darker hair (especially jet black). Any length is okay, but the longer the better in my opinion. Style-wise, I love it when half of his forehead is covered by hair bands as it makes him appear more mysterious. There you have it! Sorry again that this one was even longer! If you ask for thoughts on a group like EXO or Twice, just be ready for an entire book lol
YES thank you for what you said about Onda! It really irks me when people say that she 'improved'. She's been a monster on stage for years, but no one noticed her because she was pushed to the back so often. Thank you for setting the record straight 👏👏👏
YAS NINGNING for me has the best stage presence in aespa. Her vocals are strong(overall in 4th Gen), her stage presence is overflowing, and plus her aura is so powerful When her teaser is released last year, I knew she's the one. People said she's like Jennie, but for me, she's NINGNING.
Amazing video👍 Are you gonna do this for Red Velvet, Bp and twice I always thought that Irene had the best stage presence because she just had this aura on stage, she always commanded my attention and of course she’s beautiful but it was so much more than that

When people said that Yeji has stage presence, I have to admit that she has, he got attitude but at the same time I feel she has an advantage, her appearance itself is unique and her eyes just make her look fearless.
oh my god I got a heart
btw sorry, in the comment I put "he got" instead of "she got" my mistake.

I've been thinking about this for so long, but I do admit she does have stage presence. I love your comment♥️♥️

Yeah. Hope she improves and maybe aespa can do a stage with fans one day 🙂
i totally agree. i always say this but people constantly disagree with me. her beauty is another asset next to her dance and vocal skills but her beauty does not equal stage presence. if she wasn't as attractive as she is she would not have as many compliments on her so called "stage presence". winter is not the only member in aespa who does this. i feel like all of the members (excluding giselle, i feel that she has the most expression diversity on stage) have this problem.
@@chelsea8357 yep.If winter could work harder on her facial expressions i can see that her fancam could be so popular
I have a rather simple answer:
Because she has soooo much screen time in their official stage videos. She has a lot of lines and a lot of center time. (Well deserved - since she is a great rapper AND dancer)
When I want to watch a lot of Shuhua/Yuqi/Miyeon (sometimes even Minnie and Soojin), I just have to go and find their individual fancams.
@@queenning28 I agree
How selfish! she already has the rap part in the 2nd verse!"
But...no.
I know Mias popular but I never really see ppl talking about why she is and I still feel like she’s underrated haha she’s a powerhouse performer
cuz she barely attend some show
yea this is why i want Yena to join everglow because that would be a huge boost for them especially in korea
She’s overhated and underrated
I think it's because they just expected that much from her since YuHua prioritise her over the other members, but hey! Please show appreciation for Mia 😭
Whenever I think about stage presence I think about Soyeon. Like... she IS insane. She invented stage presence. If you disagree go argue with a wall.
CL invented stage presence.
@@thepiscesfairy nono you’re right actually. Soyeon reminds me a lot of CL in terms of their stage presence

Honestly, I can see Yena being a very popular variety show host and MC along with making solo work. Kinda like Eric Nam and even Jessi!
I wouldn’t say ever I think Hwasa and Soyeon take that spot for me but she most def is amazing
For me in all of female idols the only ones with god tier stage presence are CL, hwasa and soyeon(nearly) . They dont even need a choreo. Just give them mics they will catch your attention. Simply walking or smiling/smirking makes them stand out. They never feel forced.
I would add Hyuna
I would add Hyuna,
Hwasa tho, I think she sometimes adds too much, I love the girl, I really do, she is amazing in everything she does, but there are times when I wish she wpuld tone it down a bit, to control some expressions cause they start to have opposite effect. That's also just my opitinon so anyone is allowed to disagree and also this is not any type of hate towards her.
Your opinion .....but for me hwasa's stage presence seems forced esp. her expressions
I would also add Jessi
No one touches CL to this day in Kpop. Not even Soyeon. CL IS UNREAL.
No because this explains everything about how my feelings of Winter changed. I watched the dance practice for Black Mamba and she killed it but then I watched the stage fancams and I was so confused as to where "Winter" went. This was spot on! Great video overall!
I literally only thought is was a battle between Mia, Soyeon & Soojin because DAMN, they got some mad stage presence
For me its
1) Soojin
2)Mia
3)Soyeon
Soojin doesn't try hard by showing those expressions lol...she is the definition of natural performer
love those queens
AGREEEED. Soojin day1 for stage presence. She shocked me on Queendom, crazy fierce. Such a loss for (G)-IDLE tho I understand why
Soojin is a beast on stage
Some of the things I have noticed from Kpop dancers I admire like Yeji (ITZY), Ryujin (ITZY), Hyunjin (STRAYKIDS), Taemin (SUPERM), Kai (SUPERM) Ten (NCT), etc is that they are smooth but powerful when needed.
1. Tilting your head slightly forward when facing the front or cocking it to the side when using arms gives you an "exotic" look
Her smirk in MV for the second verse haunts me to this day...
as well as Onda.
I agree. She blew me away !
oh yes her smirk had me dead
SAME! finally i see someone said this. Her in First was really different than any of their previous releases. She looks more confident and goshhh the way she smirks, looks at the camera and dances. She's slaying that era.
Yiren and Onda’s presence is godly
As an hardcore nevie I feel like Miyeon´s and Shuhua´s job is to just stare at the camera and give that pure, innocent vibe, and even though that means having no stage presence, personally I enjoy it. Like when soyeon, Yuqi or soojin are slaying us with their expressions and moves and then it switches to miyeon or shuhua, the perfomance changes completely and i really like it. As for minnie, i feel like minnie´s weapon is her eyes because she can easily transmit different emotions in a way that u can tell what she is feeling
Its just my opinion, but since this video talks about having or not stage presence and as a fan of all these groups i cant disagree with the rank
sanpaku minnie
Welcome back! In my opinion, (G)I-dle's Jeon Soyeon has the best stage presence. She is incredibly expressive, confident and fierce.
@Mia biased Forever so true, people were calling her cute with that hairstyle too, she really needs to change to stand out more
Period!!! She's one of the best for sure!!
Yeji is such incredible performer and dancer. She just know how to slay 💅🔥🔥🔥
you should do a ranking of the girls planet 999 trainees based on what we've seen so far, and then make a part two after the final lineup is announced. i already have a few girls in mind who i think are really strong performers, but i'd like to see your thoughts!!
also, a 4th gen bg ver? ex. txt, atz, skz, enha, tbz, etc. loved the video btw!!
Oh this is a good idea...
The amount of times San was mentioned in this video is insane... do you know why? It ie because he has set a new standard of performance that no one has ever reached so far. He is just another level. I can't stop complimenting this man... he is just so mind-blowingly good!
Yessssssss!!
Preach!!!
Yess!! When she said san needs to tone it down sometimes I was kinda sad cuz I was like- what noo!!! That's what I love so much about him!! That's what makes him unique from everyone else! San is still preforming like his usual demon so it's okay😅
Taemin would like to have a word with you….
I know Giselle has a LOT of potential. It's showing how massive his improvement from just one comeback.
Coming here in savage era and Giselle! she is becoming a monster!
Initially when I watched her I thought she was a masculine performer too... But after studying her more I realized she's more feminine...
She performs like click baam.....But this is something I noticed too, When Karina performs black mamba chorus, it hits different unlike Winter.....
@@everglowup Thank you for this video.... Many Winter solo stans were saying that Winter should've been the center... When infact she has the weakest stage presence out of all of them.... This video will be an eye opener for them.....Karina is really very good on stage and Ningning too.
@@Whiplæsh I thought everybody wants NingNing as a center?
Maybe this is why sm decided winter as a visual only than visual/center. She so pretty and her voice is outstanding but it seems like she lack in confidence when performing and yeah karina just have that umph and attention grabbing quality about her that a center should have. When aespa first debuting, winter is the most popular member due to her visuals, after that the attention gravitated towards to karina for obvious reasons.
thank you for putting into words (and categories) EXACTLY how I feel about Ryujin's performances. I always see in comments everywhere that watching her is so "Satisfying" and I understand why now.
Her sharp, hip-hop dancing style + dominant stage presence and facial expressions = really eye-catching and enjoyable to watch

For me personally, Wendy has the most stage presence not just because of her facials but because she’s very energetic and is great at hyping up a crowd through that energy if that makes sense. A good example is their performance of hit that drum
When I saw them, I agree that Wendy is the most eyecatching, followed by Seulgi and Irene. But that's just 1 performance
Agree

agreed, also her facial expression and her overall energy feel very natural
That maybe one of the reasons people thought she was the visual in their debut era
i can really only speak for itzy since im not rly into any other gg but yuna is my fave performer in the group! shes just always a pleasure to watch since when the concept requires it she can look fierce or smile like she's the happiest person on the room. i love how she's always able to look so genuinely happy, you just know she really loves performing when she's on stage! she suits every concept
This is MBTI but for stage performance. Great analysis

Soyeon being on top is 100% true like damn that girl is giving us everything every single time. Yeji, Mia and Karina were also the first ones I noticed in their groups, now I know the reasons why. I also always thought that Miyeon kinda lacked something. Although I love the tone of her voice I barely keep my eyes on her in (G)I-DLE performances (same thing with Shuhua)
The only one I completely disagree with is Minnie.
Miss her.
Mia and Soyeon, yas queens, it's tragedy I-trinity stages can no longer happen
Who's the member of i-trinity?
If my girl EU has bangs next comeback I will riot the dark hair is a moment but seriously the bangs shouldn’t of been cut
I just think people are noticing her less because they are (finally) noticing Onda more.
girl the effort and amount of information in this.... you deserve all the numbers! excellent job no crumbs left

Am I the only that think Minnie has a good stage presence? She acts during whole perfomance like E:U and Yuqi, and her dance is not bad.

When soyeon,San and yeji perform I just can’t keep my eyes off them😭
Yeji, Aisha, Soyeon and Karina are the ones that attract me the most when I first saw their debut mv. They're just on another level.
Soyeon's Stage presence is really "a boss ass bitch" and this is also the reason why the solo stan always complain that soyeon overshine the others and hates her for it(some even fuckin said that soyeon should tone it down and try to fit with the other)like damn haters/solo stan really makes me so freakin crazy😧
And the reason why Soyeon and yuqi is my fav in (G)i-dle is because when they're performing they really enjoy serving up a performance
And I'm so happy to see my three fav to have the top 3 spot(though I'm a really huge Soyeon fan)
I appreciate your ranking lol
Also agree with Mia in second and here's why.

The FACT that you mentioned AleXa as one of the most charismatic… you have class.
Am I the only who’s been simping for Ryujin hahahahaha I find her really cool with facial expressions and how her moves is accurately with her expressions she does it naturally without being over with it
Should have been n2 for me. The most natural.
Damn, I agree. Honestly, I wasn't paying much attention to Everglow expect their debut and even after all that time I can say that I remeber Mia as a strikingly good performer during their debut.
Lol our mums could talk over coffee or tea about how San needs to chill 😂
Imagine getting so darned pressed over this joke.
Yes my 2 biases with the best stage presence. ❤❤❤ Wont argue with these rankings
1. Soyeon of G-Idle
2. Mia of Everglow.
Thank you for acknowledging Monsta X in the beginning!! I hardly ever see them mentioned for their stage presence
also, sorry for comenting twice but i love the way you categorized the stage prescence, i would love it if you used this same categorization for other brutally rankings of groups stage presence, love u!!!
Thank you 💖
Can you please make an updated listed of these groups?
Is this a stage presence ranking or a 40 min video cover up to subtly tell San to calm down on stage lmao
lmao
@@Jonghogummybear she literally said in the video that she loves san and its pretty obvious she thinks he has good stage presence
But hey I love how you say Twice Jihyo is the best one to put in the list of idols who are Charisma performer.
Re-watching this in preparation for the upcoming ranking video! 💙
Wait there’s another one coming up? How did I not hear about this 😮
@@theanti-veela-leprechaunShe only announced it on a live stream. Well… she didn’t announce it. She told people it’s coming and had us guess the line up.
Spoilers: It’s IVE, Le Sserafim, NMIXX, and Billlie
There’s no official date of when to expect it to actually come out. But I’m so hyped knowing that it’s happening!
@@Nameless_mixes ohhh ty
@@Nameless_mixesi saw it on her story :D
The disclaimer was slapping!!! I love you!!!!
I agree with your whole list especially the no bangs for EU
You can’t 😭
Wtf.I think she js currently better than hwasa. Considering that Hwasa is an underwhelming performer. In my opinion
idle is a spectrum lol.
The queen is back
I would love to see this ranking play out on more traditionally "feminine" groups.
Yess
I think masculine and feminine energies, can be simplify the aura around the idols.
The Overt and Covert, would be how much energy they put in the stage in each move, that mean that if you put too much can look exaggerated.
The 3rd part can be similar to the first one, the kind of aura around the idol, but I think is better explain like this: dominant/charismatic/sensual are the essence of the idol and the dynamic that they use.
I did this for remind myself 🙂
Queen you might not read this but I’m gonna need an updated one for le sserafim,Ive,and new jeans PLEASE 🙏
i swear it's always the rappers and dancers of the group 😭😭😭
We are not talking bout visual we are talking bout stage presence , the way half of the comment u only talk Bout popularity/visual
Well stated. Especially "debuting with the top 11." Thank your god she didn't. (I'm sure she's thankful also).
@@birchlawpa Yeah. I also can't imagine her in that group. She just have a different vibe and that is G(IDLE) vibe.
It’s true, soyeon’s presence on stage is unmatched in the fem 4th group gens
I am always enthralled by jihyo whenever she perform
I agreee
I finally found a person who actually understands and is seeing from my point of view. Everything you said is exactly how I see them everytime. No one understands me but finally i found someone who is actually the same with me. What you have said in this vid is my exact same opinion.
Chaeryeong deserves a lot lot higher imo, but the rest of the list is great. Mia and Soyeon are impeccable.
My gurl Yuqi being 11? I'll take it 😌
My daughter Yuna at 7?
Here’s what I think:
*Karina* = Has the best presence when her hair is long and jet black.
What do you think about red velvet
*TLDR*
Irene = Longer hair, preferably tied up (can be lighter browns, but works best as black)
Seulgi = Any length, shorter works better though (vivid colors work, especially black)
Wendy = Shorter hair, longer workers when tied up or ombre (brighter colors like light browns and blonde or ombre work best for colors)
Joy = Always longer (Black works best, but other darker colors like evergreen and raspberry work too)
Yeri = Shorter for girl crush concepts, longer for all other concepts (thrives best with natural shades or brown, but other natural or muted colors work too)
Sorry that this was so long! Since Red Velvet's been around a lot longer, there are more styles to consider when trying to determine what works best for each member.
@@Nameless_mixes how about bts
@@thebigbangtheoryispuregarbage We're just gonna go through the entire KPop industry, aren't we? Lol Okay, here are my thoughts on them. And let me preface this that it's going to be confusing to talk about hair length. With women, there's usually a distinct difference between long and short hair. With men, most idols don't have long hair like Taemin of Shinee or Junji of OnlyOneOf. So, I'll try to clarify when talking about long versus short hair. Anyways, let's get into it:
*RM* = RM has a subtle smile.
@@thebigbangtheoryispuregarbage *TLDR*
RM = Brighter hair colors.
As a MY, Karina draws my eye
As a Forever, it’s my bias wrecker Mia that draws my attention
YAS
NINGNING for me has the best stage presence in aespa.
Her vocals are strong(overall in 4th Gen), her stage presence is overflowing, and plus her aura is so powerful
When her teaser is released last year, I knew she's the one. People said she's like Jennie, but for me, she's NINGNING.
Amazing video👍
Are you gonna do this for Red Velvet, Bp and twice
I always thought that Irene had the best stage presence because she just had this aura on stage, she always commanded my attention and of course she’s beautiful but it was so much more than that
i'd like dreamcatcher too but no presure lol
