Great video. As a machinist by trade tungsten carbide was a huge part of my industry. Born in 68 I've had the privilege of meeting some of those people you spoke about. The younger generation obviously. I was born in Ontario and grew up in Montclair. Keep it the good work buddy
It's always cool retracing the past. An interactive history lesson thanks to all involved. It's really neat to delve into a miners aspect of living. Those were some steep hills to navigate. No one left behind, but a canteen casualty.
Truly Amazing Sh--! Love all the historical stories . Never knew there even was a tungston mine up there. Thanks for bringing this great stuff to us all!
Very cool ❤ I ran across a loin just outside of vegas, it had to weigh 180 to 200 his tail was about 5 or 6 foot long, and his head was about 12 to 13 wide. I was about 25 feet away from him, It makes you think about life 🤔 please stay safe my friend 🙏
Awesome! Is this the spot down-slope from Baldy up Cattle Canyon? I've known about that spot for a few years, but never went because I was concerned about access, private property, and whether or not the mine is active. It's great that you were able to go. Very kool wherever it is!
Thanks for preserving the history. Was the canteen that slid down a regular water bottle or was it your blue nalgene oasis canteen? Did you go down and find it?
This was a great adventure and story telling! awesome stuff!! Is the mine still patanted private property today? or a claim or it's all absorbed into the wilderness land grab?
QUESTION: First, thanks for hiking that treacherous trail. So you show a few modern pieces of heavy equipment, a bucket loader and dozer. Are they stuck above the washed out road, land locked forever????. Curtis mentioned the original Mr Curtis used a Walker dozer to carve the road / trail to the mine site in the 30' s. Theres no such dozer brand named Walker ever made, Chote was the first " dozer" ever commercial made nicknamed the Catapiller. Back then up to about the 70's they were very slow moving so they all called them Crawlers, Catapiller Crawler dozers date back to 25, so i suspect the Walker i e walking speed was a 30' s Cat Crawler 😊. LOCAL HISTORY NOTE: Back in the 2000's there was a pretty well known hiker & videographer named Nalgeene Pharaoh . He was said to have fell down washed out road section back near Curtis mine never to be seen again. We can't locate any of the old videos because after WWIII the nukes on the west coast vaprozed everything below 7000 feet on the west coast. Some hight mountain servivors say theve seen his canteen stuck into a giant Tungsten melt bolder, melted during the war as they traversed the canyon in 3001. 😉
Thanks for watching, all the trucks and dozers are buried and smashed in rock up to the windows at least, some to the roofs. Incredible sized boulders block the once road. one is literally 15' high and the same in diameter. You dont walk to that sight, you climb up and down a couple miles of boulders. rip canteen, you came from England from a friend and I failed you. rip
I remember hiking Fish canyon and climbing the falls and hiking the upper canyon to just below the fire road... This for some reason reminded me of that trip...

Yes it was. No, I couldn't find it
Did you go and try to find your canteen? Was it your Military style Nalgene or a regular Nalgene that fell?
Nalgene, looked for an hour, it was a gift from a tuber in England but nada

i flood in the canyon about 13 years back took out access, it would cost millions to move all that rock.

Hey bro, do u know if there is gold on the north and west fork of the river ?
its never been found in either. I have found a few small prospects where the old timers had sampled but no record of any finds
What about the ruby mine coming out of cold water canyon from lytle creek? In one of the books that says there was a secret one
