I picked up the Alpine White Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro a few months back, and I'm honestly amazed!!!! Solid construction, not a single flaw. I've traditionally played Jackson's, Strat's and others, but this instrument quickly relegated the others to the shelf! Played through a Marshall, the Probuckers are outstanding. It actually has the Paul Kossoff tone.

Best money I've ever spent and I've own a American Strat, American Les Paul studios, Schecters in which the C-1 with the EMG 81 and 85 actives just absolutely slays Rock, Metal, and blues... Great video...Keep up the good work...
I think they have made a few models in the early to mid 2000s that were similar to that color like Ivory, I know for a fact they haven't always done Alpine White
Fixing to order a Custom with a Koa top .I remembered watching this review when you first put it out. I enjoyed it even more this time. You are having so much fun. Awesome . Keep up the great work. Thanks !

Great video my friend. Smiled the whole way through. Loved how you demo'd the same lick with different sounds, more guitar cats should do just that. So simple and so effectively informative. Thank you sir, have a great 2021.
I have a Japanese white LP Custom Elitist that I found in mint condition on Craigslist. They actually only made them in Japan and stopped production years ago so they're hard to find and are getting more expensive. I also have a Gibson and several other guitars but that Elitist just connects with me like no other guitar. I never would've purchased a white guitar, but when I saw it, I was hooked.
I've been wanting one of these for a while, but the Ebony one. The only thing I don't like about the Ebony one is it also has the black pick guard. I just think the white one looks better on any black Les Paul, and it especially makes the binding pop even more on the custom. I had gold hardware on the Epi Les Paul Ultra II I used to own. Just looked better on that particular guitar, which is one of several reasons I went with the Ultra II over the III. It depends on the color of the body for me which one I prefer.
I have a black 2006 epi les paul custom it has the black and silver top hat nobs Im almost certain these were on it from new I could never part with it.. I do love that they now are made with ebony fingerboards
I just ordered a 2023 version of this guitar from sweetwater. Getting it pleked by them and installing locking tuners. Should have it early next week. The ebony fretboard sold me on getting one. I love a dark neck. Technology has really upped the quality of lower priced guitars.
Steve, the newer ones have the "correct" Gibson style split diamond inlay, so it looks even closer to the original now. I've seen pictures online, and a black Epiphone SG custom with the larger diamond, so hopefully it will be something they keep, as it does look better (won't make any difference to the sound of the guitar, but hey.......😜)!! Only just realised that these are ALL Mahogany, with no maple cap, so built like the original ones from 1954-60. That's a surprise, so sound very different from a Standard, as was originally the idea I suppose!! 😁
Best review I've seen so far. Real talk and no fluff. Thank you. I've been looking at getting me one of these and was wondering if it would be worth the investment. Thanks for a great review of it.
I was looking up my Model last month, and you vid has been recommended since, my mouse hovered over it while I was doing something else, and played half the video in the caption box, I figured I've already used the WiFi up.... (And I don't play the full Sus chords and Bar Chords like he does so it is fitting I have lesser Equipment). Love your tone, that's my sound as well, with no delay though. Not even too much reverb. Very Dry and Punchy.
ive had this guitar for years now and I never really appreciated until recently (maybe it was my inability to use humbucks). but the tone on this thing rocks and it's great value for the price.
The greatest quality and the best sounding that I have played so far from the Epiphone is the Epiphone Les Paul 1955 custom (Both P90 Pickups). I hope Epiphone will continue produce more 1955 custom guitars with the new headstock🎸🎸🎸
NIce job on the explanation, Steve. I just bought a new Epiphone Custom Limited Edition with P90s from Guitar Center, and I can't find any specs on this model. Has all the features you mentioned like block inlays, cool headstock inlay, sweet double binding, etc. I don't see much information at all on these with the P90s though.

Split Block is good too. Block in rosewood, ok, you can't put dots on a les paul, standard or custom, though so yeah, you need block. Of course the bindings are first rate as well, I see that the colored bodies come with white bindings, which is first class, no more tobacco stained bindings, I realize that will not be a preference for some players though, I guess you could dab on a little shoe polish.. Ebony is an absolute must, the best fretboard ever. 5:18 Headstock is a huge upgrade, looks really nice, and eliminates that massive, bulbus, albatross where you keep your tuners. : )
Thanks for the demo Steve. Just bought one of these at Manchester Music Mill in N.H. You really do it justice with your great technique/ skills. Plays good compared to my 1970 Custom. Take care.
For the record, Richlite is a paper and epoxy product. Ebony wood is more expensive however, and is of course actually wood. Richlite is a sustainable alternative with many additional benefits. The most significant being it's drastically less susceptible to shrinkage or swelling, less fret sprout. Most people can't tell the difference unless you look closely.
My aristides has it.... I'd say it looks like ebony and the way they sanded it, it feels somewhere between ebony and rosewood in my guitar. You can sand it to 12,000,000 grit paper and buff it to a smooth gloss if you so desire, but I like it where it's at.
Your absolutely right about the Epiphone headstock being ornate. It's from the 30s era of big jazz guitars that had ornate headstocks and is Epiphone traditional headstock. Some thought it was a clip ear version of Gibson, but the reality is the reason it had those facets was to show off the workmanship because apparently it's hard bind a headstock like that. I like both but I think it dose depend on guitar. I will say though it has to have binding otherwise it looks really odd indeed.

Makes me want to work harder.
Fan of gold hardware on all guitars!
😁
“Binding O’Plenty” - it’s magically delicious. Is the body thicker? Or, is it just an illusion due to the extra binding? It looks to be easy playing.
the body is indeed thicker
I got the Black Custom a few months ago. It's a great guitar. It's listed as a C neck profile but it's really a D. I like it. My first good guitar was a 1968 Gibson LP Custom. It had speed knobs too.
Is it a chunky neck or thinner please?
@@ver251209 A little chunky. Definately not thin.
@@waynewhiteside I'm looking at buying an older one 2002. Hope its the same. Prefer chunk - cheers for the reply.
WOW!!! Just heard the Fastway - Say What You Will, riff at 6:53 🤘
I was thinking about this gutiar all day before watching or seeing this. Been playing some higher end les pauls but man this Gutiar is soooo Fantastic for the money. The Gibson would involve me selling a few Gutiars. Its crazy you posted this today and I think you sold me!
That middle position sound is so nicely balanced. Sounds great.
Ebony is better than rosewood for fingerboard, no doubt. It’s a harder wood and usually a consistent almost black look. Gorgeous.
Ok Steve, you just made me want to check out the used one that's selling locally.... I need to check this one out. Your tone is sick, mind sharing what you're using?
Have one in silverburst and love it! Nickel hardware looks better on silverburst but gold looks so good on the black and white models
I agree! Binding, ebony, blocks, gold, speed knobs... A Custom should have all that. I also like the new headstock so much better!!
Yo Steve, been watching your vids for a while, just subscribed recently, really enjoy the way you talk about your guitars and also enjoy your playing...keep on rocking bro.
Cheers from Mexico
The Master Chef, of the Sweetest Tone Sauce ever, strikes again! I want one of these, just because SFB showed me what it is capable of. Great demo!
Yeah same with mine my gold top but make sure you get a 2020 because I think that's the only year they're going to do these so I've heard which copies must've if not all of the specs of a real Gibson Les Paul
