@@LovelyLilly90, not sure how pointing out that the story of their channel is common knowledge makes me a dick. Btw, they have said multiple times how they started the channel online, try to keep up.
Honestly, I am not convinced that anything qualifies as a pot pie unless it has a bottom crust. I know that a puff top is tasty and all, but I really like the contrast of a nice browned shortcrust on top, creamy and savory filling, and the kind of gooey shortcrust shell on bottom. So the ultimate one is definitely worth the time for me.
You can here fortunately, which tbh is most likely what I would do. But they're going whole hog (as it were) so not cutting corners, especially on the last pie 🙂
Made the microwave version just minutes ago! We added a little cayenne pepper sauce to the chicken/veggie mix, and had to go to a specialty store to find proper double cream (USA), but it came out fantastic! Wonderful lunch! We will definitely do this again.
Made this today. Did the chef's version and used rotiserrie chicken, added peas, and garlic, just thyme, and a touch of chipotle powder. So so good. The crust is excellent and doesn't get soggy. Thanks!!
yes, thankis for the recipe video! i know they probably don't get the same amounts of views as your other videos do, but i really enjoy them and they're actually what i subscribed to the channel for!
That middle pie. My mom made something very similar, but she would make the filling put it in a puff pastry cup, and serve to me and my sister. Great when we were little kids, and lots of pastry.
Great 3 way. Never thought about the microwave pie before but definitely something to think about for a weekday night. The usual pie I cook is mostly like Pie 2 (all top no bottom) and cooked a chicken leek mushroom and tarragon pie yesterday. Id cook pie 2 (cos you can obvs bake more puff pastry separately if needed). Good comparison guys
Thanks guys. I usually grab a rotisserie chicken and use the meat from that. I do individual bowls with the freezer puff pastry. I don't know if the store bought rotisserie chicken is as popular in the UK as it is here (Canada).
The second one is closest to the one my mom taught me and it does the trick! A saucy inside and a premade dough though we lay it out like the 3rd pie, crust on bottom and top! Either way these look great and I think I'll take some tips to spice it up!
I always love this videos. Another idea is one that my mum makes quite often is instead of using puff pastry, using Pillsbury biscuits that we roll out into muffin tins and that way we get our own little pot pies. Then the filling is usually leftover chicken or rotissere chicken with a bag of mixed veg with cream of chicken soup mixed together.
Well NOW there has to be savory pie battles between the chefs and between the normals... Each of those three pies has me looking at flights to London...
I made this with leftover mashed potatoes, wine and chicken, and onion instead of leek. I eyeballed everything (no measurements). it STILL tasted awesome. THANK YOU!!
