To those of you who read the description: You are an excellent subscriber! :)
Jose Raul Capablanca was regarded as a chess prodigy, yet his father wanted him to maintain the "even tenor of the average boy's way in his youth." Capablanca moved to the USA in 1904 to complete his education. However, he left Columbia University in 1910 without a degree and pursued a career in chess.[3] His first international success was his clear win (+8 -1 =14) over the former world championship challenger in Capablanca-Marshall (1909). After that, he was considered a worthy contender for the title of world champion, and reigning champion Emanuel Lasker commented "Capablanca has shown himself to be a great player."
Capablanca's admirers had suggested a title challenge as early as 1908. Even prior to his first European tournament, León Paredes had suggested to Lasker that he play a match with Capablanca, but Lasker declined. Capablanca himself remained cautious. The hype surrounding Capablanca made Lasker admit that the subject got "on his nerves." Capablanca made his international tournament debut at San Sebastian (1911). He unexpectedly won 1st prize, a result even he hadn't anticipated.[9] About seven months after this success, he challenged Lasker to a title match.]

Lasker and Capablanca met for the first time.
C: lets play chess
L: are you capable?
C: no. I am Capablanca
-are you capable?
-no, even more, I'm Capablanca
Lasker crushed capa
@Nospotic you must have an IQ lower than that of a rock
Nospotic whats going on here?
Hahaha. Real world stuff. As if chess is a fantasy. Love this guy.
If yoi don't play chess professionally, you will not be able to feed your family, and even if you are you were a professional player, make sure that you would not be paid sufficiently.
@@thealgeriantank2587many GMs do earn money from Chess whether it’s coaching streaming or tournaments of course the higher rated players will make more $
Who else questioned their life decisions when you heard Agad was busy with real world stuff...
Hahaha.. I don't think so..
@Virasman In fact, probably he was playing chess at the bar on a nice real board :-D
I questioned my life decisions after he showed what would have resulted had I taken the pawn
I felt indirectly savaged, like losing my queen to a pawn before 10 moves in... Which happens more than I would like to admit.
He probably had some errands to run. Pay some bills maybe.
The pro Capablanca crowd give me hope that young people respect the past. This guy analize his games , critizice his moves and the computer agree with him.
He critizice the Lasker move e3 shows the right move and the computer agree with him. that happens 90 years ago. Capa `e Grande!
If Capablanca was here, he would be the first one to criticize his own moves and using computer to challenge his own play... What's wrong with that? Is this insulting to you, that someone takes his very own time to enlighten the less diligent of us? :-)
@@TheCzechmate007 Did you realise that this guy was praising Capablanca's self criticism and analysis, "This guy analyze his games , criticise his own moves and the computer agree with him." What's your comment about?
I have improved so much by watching ur videos that I finally defeated magnus age 10 and my lichess classical rating is 1840 thank you for ur work agadmator
😂😂na I don't have a title of gm

But so has everyone else....
"Congratulations you are an excellent NOT blunderer of games." might be the nicest thing i've heard all week
Agadmator: You should learn the principles!
Alpha Zero: Am I a joke to you?
@@robertbanu810 no it has one principle: Attack
One of your best videos Antonio. The advice to new players, and the discussion of gentlemanly conduct.
Thanks for mentioning what the chess principles are! You are an excellent explainer of chess fundamentals.
Why don't you make Agadmator's lessons about chess principles and certain situations. Something like puzzle but with deeper explanation #suggestion
It’s not exactly what Agadmator does he’s mostly giving the breakdown of great games played by GMs he’s the best explaining why certain moves are good and some not
Thank you for the chess principles and the saga. It is insightful to see a player's journey through the years.
Playing without knowing openings by using basic chess principles? I'm not capablanca, Sir.
Why you say, you're not Capablanca? Do you think he didn't know much about openings? Well, I think Agadmator would have mentioned this at least once!
@@SOZlOPATHOR he already has mentioned it.Against the Marshall attack

Chess was never a passion to me but since i saw a video on this channel it became something that i love more and more everyday
Believe it or not , it was in this position that i realised i saw all of your videos
more evans gambit
I love spending my birthday watching ur videos. Thank you agadmator :)
#Suggestion you could do a Lasker series after finishing Capablanca's. He was a very powerful grandmaster way ahead of his time and it would be interesting to analyze his multi-stylist approach
15:07 - In fact, the line is a little bit longer and complex:
Instead of ...Qd1+, black plays ...Qb1+ which leads to Kg2 Qe4+ f3! - that's the move you need to see in the beggining to know for sure that you're winning - ...Qc1+ Rxc1 Bxf6 exf6 and white is up a piece.
If ...Rd2+ Bxd2 Qe2+ Kh3 Qxd2 Rxd8+ and black is lost.
And if ...Qe2+ first, then Kh3 Qf1+ Kh4 Rd4+ f4 Rxf4+ Bxf4 and again, black is completely lost.
15:00
What if Black plays Qb1 ? Then Rc1 Rd1 check, Rxd1 Qxd1 with check and Bishop can now capture queen when king moves.
I was gonna say the same xD
Why would white play Rc1? It doesnt make sense lmao
Please do a series on Lasker or Phillodor. I would love that.
*AlphaZero:* Basic Chess Principles? What's that?
A0: You mean what patzers use to make decisions?
Probably some sort of food, like marriage or something

The brilliance man is capable of makes me smile.
0:00 "happy for the new videos... I was worried sick!"
14:05 "no water sip break"
Opening principles important for GM's and IM's. What about CM's? :)
I've studied the opening a bit, but realized early on that memorizing all those variations was not going to happen for me, so I learned the opening principles and have had a great time playing against those who only know how to play by rote, with little understanding of why those particular moves are played..
At around two minutes - great advice for beginners. I still have to remember those principles.
I would love for you to cover the game between Capablanca and Treybal at Carlsbad in 1929, it's my favorite game and would love to hear your thoughts on it! If not to cover it, I'm sure you would enjoy seeing the game!
Dear Antonio, could you give us an update about viewer statistics in the next video? Wondering how they changed from 2017 :) Thank you
Does anyone know what Agadmator is doing when he says "sorry about that" 0:47 ? I hear this frequently in his videos. Always after the first few moves....but nothing seems wrong to me before that. Thanks!
Hurray, back to the good stuff 👍👍
Great game I also felt it could’ve played on for some reason I felt Casablanca with the black pieces was a bit better very tight game well played wonderful watching these legends of yesteryear Thanks Agadmator
Aye I'm early, let me think of a joke.
What is Agad's favorite coffee?
You know it, CAPABLANCA.
i've been patiently waiting for this game
15:03 what happens when black Qb1#? I cant see how white can avoid trading queens or perpetual on e4
At 15:09, why not Qb1+, seems black will be able to win material if R or B blocks with Rd1+ and if Kg2, Qe4+ should lead to a draw or exchange of Queens with black still in a good position.
Can you make a video about the excellent chess principles which I can show my friends that say they‘re really bad?
That Lasker guy was a really tough opponent !
I don't understand why the pawn is poison... on 14:56 you didn't check black queen B1 check.
You get to this wired position, black can give multiple checks to the white king - and than maybe exchange the queens of the board. Not sure is useful, can't see how it loses the game.
Agadmator please make a video about basic chess principles. That would help a lot #suggestion
Well principles... week ago I had a choice... give a pawn with black having a passed pawn or keep the c3-B4 pawn chain and knight stacked on A2... impossible to really extract...
it was utter pain to play it. but I am not sure the other choice was better.
This is real world stuff.
Is chess the real life, or is chess just fantasy? Caught in a knight fork, no escape for my rook and queen...
Tempo on the king, now my pieces are freeeeee!
Queen, I like it 💯
...of causa: you are very right about the principles in chess and in general in life but i wish we would see more of the "modern" openings on the highest level in pro-chess - i know it is too much on stake ("money for nothing!") for the players these days...
I'm starting to think Antonio is just saying sorry and putting his hand under his desk without actually changing the volume. He does it so quick now.
Terrific Game. Capablanca seems to be lucky to have an advantage in this saga. Lasker is equally wicked Jackal.
Capa blanca is litteraly my favorite gm from before
Would love to see the highlights of the Capablanca v. Alekhine world championship match
Oissev Onos did he confirm he’d do a series on me?
3:15 - "bishop-cruiser operational"
*(Voice of starcraft battlecruiser)*
You'd think with all these videos I watch I would get better at chess but NOPE
You need to keep playing and learn from your mistakes
this is a very good example of difference between passive and active learning. no matter how many times you watch something being done, you have to do it yourself in order to improve.
Did anybody else notice? The worst thing was that, for nearly two days, every time we refreshed Agadmator's page to check if a new video had finally been uploaded, we were greeted by the ironic title of the last video . . . "F is for Frustration." Yeah, tell me about it.
I would love to see analisys of Magnus vs Bill Gates game :)
Agadmator: ...apologies for going over 24hrs without a video.
Finegold (CCSCA) channel: ...goes two weeks between videos, posts months-old stuff.
-- We never had it so good.
Is it a not devolped piece if is not moved? I wonder.. Because of how strong was that black square bishop at the end.. Perhaps depends on the context.... a piece could have a lot of potencial in its initial position. If you know exactly when has to be moved as the great lasker did.
As he mentioned, the principal issue with doing what Lasker did (huge Lasker fan btw, Lasker sweep,) was that it allowed the white bishop free range over the board early on, which positionally translated into the endgame that we saw. The computer agrees, bringing out the bishop was the better call.
God bless this channel.
Real world stuff! Teasing VR?
We saw some pretty early draws in the 2018 world championship games between Carlsen and Caruana but I think against a lesser opponent Magnus would continue.
9:21
When your friends ask you to loan them some money
#Suggestion Will there be Videos added to the Lasker Playlist?... a Lasker Saga would be awesome. After all he was the longest reigning world champion in chess history with 27 years. Even accounting for the uncontested years because of World War I intervention, he remained far longer World chess champion than Gary Kasparov (15) or Mikhail Botvinnik (13)
Capablanca challenged him in 1911 and he did not accept the challenge..... he got cold feet..... Otherwise Capablanca would have broken more records and Lasker would not have been the longest champion.
Agadmator rocks
What is the defense for black against Qh5, Qh6, Rh3, Qxh7 and Bh6. He loses one pawn and he has king in the centre
Great vid! Love this series..... Capa missed a win late in the game! After 34. Bf4 Capa could have played 34. ...Rd1! and ground out the win. Capa is the most patient of players.
I enjoy your comentaries.
How does the book you read call? ..... There are many books on Amazon... 🤷♂️
At 15:04 , what about Qb1 + and after Kg2 Qe4 + and repeat ?
White wont repeat, it will prob go Qe4+ f3 Qe2 Kh3 Qf1 Kh4 Rd4+ f4 and no more meaningful checks and stopping white checkmate
Hello agadmator's dude i like your all videos almost .
Move on always about youtube things.Best regards Mustafa ,Mersin(city).
Start Carlsen and Kasparov please .
@11:20 wasnt Bc1 a good move?
Yes! Principles!!
15:04 how about Qb1?? a forced draw
How much time takea you to do one video?
13:46 he plays bishop to "E" 7
i love that moment :D
Can you do the Max Euwe saga? #suggestion
After the Alekhine saga #suggestion
An unremarkable player
15:05 Qb1+?, perpetual?
Could someone please help me understand what GK means in his quote by saying that chess has many "scientific elements" ?
I'd hazard a guess by saying that chess is similar to science in that you make decisions only be a process of rigorous thought and based on principles (well at least you should, I don't). I also think the nature of chess scholarship is similar to science in that it evaluates positions and suggests improvements as more knowledge (better lines and moves) becomes available.
I'd also say that it is similar to science in that it is a game of perfect information: each side has access to the correct move/continuation (despite the inherent difficulty of this) in the same way that science supposes that all information necessary to evaluate the world and understand it, is available through a process of experimentation and interaction.
the last days were definitely frustrating
The quote above the board is by Capablanca, not Kasparov.
#suggestion can we get more Paul Morphy game please?? Like the vids continue like this!
This playlist videos are based on some book?
Me: -"Uhhh.. Another "QGD""
Agadmator: "Sorry about that.."
xD
how old was capablaca when he became world champ?
Very strong players.. it seems that lasker didnt have a good opening with the dark bishop but still capable to hold his positions.. very strong lasker,
I bought your chess clock, but it's late 1,5 second per minute ?
i hope we start the Alekhine saga next:) It's spot on after Capablanca
Absolutely. But I might add that while Alekhine won 1927 Jose definitely had a much, much better time in Buenos Aires. Antonio should talk a little about that.
12:58 rook e1 why not qf3 🤔
Capablanca can actually take the a2 pawn. In the third variation shown by you, instead of Qd1+ he can play Qb1+, Kg2 Qe4+ and the game continues
It's actually a draw after qb1+ but only if Capablanca plays perfect moves, otherwise black is just lost. For example, after qe4+ and f3, black would blunder the game if he goes Qe2+ instead of qc2+. Its a complicated line to calculate I guess. And Capablanca is known to be lazy to calculate if he already found a safe alternative.
Yes! I'm a titled player! An excellent not blunderer of games!
It’s ok for no videos because you are an excellent UA-camr
17:18 wish we still were like that, nowdays
Beyond weird that the World Champion in his first game with white in a title defense would come up with something like e3.
Chess is real world stuff😎
Hello Mr. Antonio love your videos
This is another sneaky way to bring up tho he didn't know any opening theories
What`s agad`s nationality?
Chess principle?
Wait, so this isn't real?
But this is my favorite bit of the day!
7:29 instead of Lasker rook g3, he should have played knight c5 to eliminated capablancas bishop pair. #chessprinciples
@Oissev Onos i see. I guess it is just me that placed myself in that position and was happy with a draw against Capa. Obviously Lasker has higher ambitions =)
What is the real world?
13:48, bishop to eee7
No videos makes Heavyboxes go crazy!
what about queen to c3
Back to the goodstuff
#Suggestion for the next series, do the voting process early so that more people can vote and enjoy the ongoing series at the same time. Moreover you'll also get time for preparations and we get the next saga without much delay... This is the good stuff, and we want more of that.
