I've been playing for a year now, Pearl Percussion, she's got a sizzling snare, and a big swinging bottom on her. Coupled with a foot Tambo and a couple cymbals/stands, I can get damn near a full-kit sound out of it. I'm pretty decent, I've done gigs, I've got songs out there, but I'm still learning, and your videos have been more than helpful.
Hi! I have been playing for over 10 years, although I'm not a regular gigging musician or anything, and I'm not even a real drummer/percussionist (I'd be considered a keyboard player). I'll sometimes play it in church when they need percussion, or at camp fires or retreats or other small performances. I have a Meinl Headliner and a Gon Bops flamenco cajon. I haven't played much for the past few years but have decided to work on improving or changing techniques. Or maybe even relearn, because it's obvious I have some bad habits. First thing is trying to get my Meinl headliner to sound good again, because it was in storage in Germany for the past 4 years and sounds real. Thank you for your videos!
I'm all for supporting local music stores but I find that most have a very limited selection of all the same corporate cajon makers that dominate internet search results. For the same money you can get a great sounding, locally made cajon that is unique and doesn't involve trans-oceanic shipping.
Thank you for another awesome video. I purchased mine online. The difficulty there is that you rarely hear a good sample done acoustically. Even though I've got a Guitar Center down the street - they have very few samples on the floor to try. I wound up taking a couple back for exchange. As a beginner - I decided on the Mienl subwoofer jumbo bass cajon. 🤙
My idea is to play a Bass-Cayon with an acoustic Bass Guitar (which I already play). I slapp a Bass Guitar for a Snare-Sound (which I already do) and use a meinl cayon-pedal in order to play the Bass & Drum section for a cover-band. What do you think of this idea?
I love the meinl mini Cajon that sounds great & can be stored easy especially when I have LP Giovanni galaxy & Aspire congas yeah total of 6 congas,LP Giovanni galaxy bongos, meinl woodcraft zebra finish bongos, meinl marathon series bongos plus have meinl mini bongos, & LP mini djembe so the meinl mini Cajon will fit perfectly for me!
¡Muchas gracias por este video, y sus recomendaciones! I've been a percussion player my whole life, and I'm much more interested in playing hand drums than drums that require sticks to play. I think I'm going to prefer snare cajons to start out, since they will have a sound similar to a drumset. I'll be able to get an acoustic sound that's still similar to a drumset, all with the comfort of playing with my hands. Awesome video again - thank you so much!
Have you tried/reviewed Kopf Percussion S Series HANDCRAFTED here in the United States? They make them with Birch and sound fantastic! They produce them from start to finish ALL under one roof in ONE location.
I used to think cajons were small wooden blocks drummers used lol. I only saw pictures of them with nothing else for judging size and I'm not a drummer, and have no aspirations to be one. But I'm an avid finger and hand drummer (MPC, Maschine), and now that I know these exist, I need one and a microphone (and lots of practice with one :D )
Thank you for the information! I'm planning to start playing Cajon soon, so I'm a beginner. But I don't know how to choose between the Snare or Flamenco type. I like the sound of strings in percussion while playing this is why I want either of them. Can you tell us more about the differences between these two types please, it will help me decide which one to buy. Very appreciated, Thank you so much ❤
Hi! thanks for your message. I'm glad to know you are going to start learning the cajon, this is great! I suggest that you watch my reviews where you can see some snare and flamenco cajons to then hear the difference and pick your favourite. Kindly help me out to buy my first Cajon ever. I'm entry level but I have liked to thump since my childhood and i think i can do great with a Cajon.
Would you please make a review about cajon made by pearl especially the primero cajon music town usa because I really interested in it but I want to know your point of view about this cajon. Regard from Indonesia. 🙏😃
Also how should it sound, what is the ideal sounding cajon, a lot of people make cajons but getting the right sound is key. Must not be too bass and not too much treble. Would it be possible to guide on that?
Thanks for you question. This is very personal I think, each player will look for the sound that is more appealing to them. Ideal sound is very difficult to say. Depending on the style I need to play I will choose a different type of cajon. Of course you can get better quality Cajons that will probably produce a better sound. But in my opinion you need to play and listen the one that pleases you more according to the style you play.
Dear Cajon Master, I wonder about kid's cajon vs. adult's cajon. Will you tell us a little about the difference between them, please? Thanks in advance. Subscribed and liked.

Hi there, thanks for your question. Have you seen my review of the Jumbo Subwoofer? It might be a good option - ua-cam.com/video/-1yLbsZghB8/v-deo.html
Hi Ryu, thanks for your message. If you apply the right technique you should not feel pain. Have a look in the fre resources here - cajonmaster.com Let me know if you need any help with that
Hi! Thanks for your message. I think nowadays most of the Cajons are strong enough to support any persons weight. I would recommend the Meinl Cajons because are the ones I’m currently playing and testing everyday. I’ve never played the MT box, I can’t say much.
Hi Jay! Have a look on my reviews here on the channel, the subwoofer cajon can be a good option for worship music. You can find this reviews and others in the reviews playlists 😉
So I am still unsure about what type of cajon to look for. The worship team at my church is asking me to play for them. All the worship team has right now is a singer, a guitarist, and a pianist but they all have problems with keeping rhythm and said that the drum would help them a lot. It is a very small church so I’m not too worried about how much sound it will produce and I’m probably gonna be doing simple grooves for now. Any suggestions on what type of cajon to get? (They mainly play hymns)

Thanks so much for all you provide on these reviews. I just purchased a Meinl Subwoofer Jumbo bass cajon. I like it but my family says there isn't enough high end and the snare is unbalanced. I'm not sure about the composite (particle board) cabinet. I think it just does not have full range of tone from low to high. Therefore I am looking at the Meinl 2 in 1 cajon with the throw off switch. I just have never played one and can't find one within 90 miles of me. (I live in a mountain community with no music stores.) I would like your advice on these two Cajons and suggestions of other to check out as well as other brands of cajons. Thanks so much Felipe. Rob
Hi Robert! thanks for your message. the subwoofer it's powerfull sound cajon. The snare has more bass as well and with medium high pitch than the 2in1 cajon. I really like this bass cajon specially for loud gigs where the power sound is needed :) But if you prefer a more standard sound with high pitch snare the Snarecraft PRO 2in1 or the Meinl artsan Tango are 2 good options in the same price range. Let me know what you're going to decide ;)
Hii Bro I'm a beginner and I selected to go on with Clapbox Cajons. But I'm very Confused To Select the Models in It. So,here I want your Help If you can...just Suggest a model in Clapbox Cajons and I'm looking for Snare Cajon...👍
Hi, unfortunately I can’t help you with that because I’ve never play a clapbox cajon. I would suggest you a Meinl Snare craft cajon, very affordable and very good sound. Check the review here - ua-cam.com/video/22QzgwhIO5w/v-deo.html
I play mostly Christian worship music, I already have a LP aspire cajon, looking for a different sound but also don’t want it to clash with the drums I was looking at the meinl artisan cajons but am not sure what I should get… I’m willing to spend 300-400$
Hi Aidan, around your budget you can have the Artisan Buleria line that’s a great cajon with adjustable strings. Have a look in my review of this model in the reviews section of my channel 😉
Cajon Master I noticed the photo that you used when describing the Peruvian Cajon is my product from Croaker Percussion. I’d be happy to work with you so that you can try one of my Peruvian Cajons.
HELLO... WICH BRAND IS THE BEST?? I AM AMATEUR IN THESE TYPE OF PERCUSSION, BUT I PLAY DJEMBE ADVANCED... I HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME FRIEND!! A STRONG HUG FROM ARGENTINA!
hey i have recently purchased the 'PEARL PRIMERO MUSIC TOWN USA CAJON' online , i liked it's looks and it sounded decent so i ordered it. but when it is here now and i am playing it i don't know if its that good. is it because i don't yet know how to play and it will turn out good afterwards? , or shall i replace it ?? please sir do reply.....
Hi! Thanks for you comment. The standard is 50x30x30cm but with variables. Bass snare cajon it’s good if you’re looking for that drum kick’sound but there are Cajons that are not « bass cajons » in the name but have a deep bass tone. It’s important to compare the differences and choose the one you like the most. What are you looking for? Which model specifically ?
Hi! Thanks so much for the explanation. I'm a trumpeter and an amateur bass player that wants to start playing cajon as well. The genre I want to play is Jazz (and sometimes reinterpretation od pop rock sobgs), use brushes etc. What type and model of cajon do you recomend for this genre? I can't spend too much right now, but I don't want to buy something that also sounds poor. Thank you!
Hi! The flamenco cajons are more sensitive and work well with brushes. I would suggest the Meinl Tango line, here is the review I made - ua-cam.com/video/b5WUb6u9mbI/v-deo.html
Sir iam confused between clapbox cb65 and hypestring cb500, which one will be better. Found quite few videos but not satisfied. Help me to suggest one. From india
Hi Stewart, thanks for your message. I would love to help you with that, but I really don’t know these cajons, never played before. I would recommend Meinl cajons, because are the ones I play and work with. Other then that I suggest you to try both and choose the one you like best. 😉
I've been looking for one of these, and I decided to buy one a few days ago. I have been comparing the sounds of various Cajons, and am ready to buy. But I can find no link showing me where to listen to your product. I don't know if it is my browser, or the page is not displaying, but No demo link. I thought I'd pass it on.
Hi Ben! There are many good options nowadays. I’m working with Meinl Artisan Line Cajons (flamenco type made in Spain) They sound great! I will soon review them here. Check out the different models in the website - meinlpercussion.com/
@@CajonMaster thanks, unfortunately I can't find this in my area,I found a Sela varios instead,it has also a removable snare..have you tried it?seems pretty good to me always in the same price range..(Forgive me but I'm a guitarist 😂)
Hi! Thanks for the amazing video. I am a bassist, keyboard player and producer. I wanted to approach the world of percussions with the cajon, and I chose a modern sounding one. Schlagwerk CP-160 X-One. I’ve seen very good reviews and very bad ones. Consider that the use that I’m gonna do of it is replacing drums. Do you think I made a good cajon choice
Hi Mattia! thanks for your message. This is a entry level model that I think works good, especially for live gigs. Have fun with that and let me know how it goes after you spent some time testing it ;) cheers
Hi, thanks for you msg. These brands make good stuff. I cannot say much because I didn’t test these Cajons before. I would recommend Meinl Cajons that are those ones I have and reviewed here in the channel. Have a look at these reviews and let me know what do you think 😉 cheers

For me to help you I need to hear the sound. Can you please send a video to felipe@cajonmaster.com

Hi. Can you give some information about the sizes of regular cajons, too? Also is a bass cajon really effective? What is your opinion? Thank you.
Muito top seu vídeo. Estou buscando comprar um para nossa igreja. Snare seria a melhor opção?
ola joão! Snare cajon é uma boa opção ;)

@@CajonMaster thank you very much!I can order, test it and if it doesn't go well for me,send it back!
Cool! let me know how it goes ;)
@@CajonMaster sure thing I will. Have a good day
@Cajon Master Which cajon do you recommend with big bass sound. Both electronic and acoustic?
Hi! Big Sound I would recommend the Meinl Jumbo Subwoofer Cajon or the SnareCraft Pro. Have a look on the reviews on my channel 😉🙏
Is Tycoon Cajon or Lp Cajon is good ????
Hi, thanks for you msg. These brands make good stuff. I cannot say much because I didn’t test these Cajons before. I would recommend Meinl Cajons that are those ones I have and reviewed here in the channel. Have a look at these reviews and let me know what do you think 😉 cheers
Hi, I would like to ask your opinion. I am looking for a cajon for worships (guitar, piano) with decent sound. I am beginner so I am looking for cheaper ones.
Yes, definitely. I would recommend the Meinl snarecraft pro, good price and will fit perfect for the style of music you've mentioned ;)
