Seeing Stefan doing the Hunger guitar riff is making my year!
Dude, the car analogy is SOOOOO right! Magnificent!
RIP Leroi. You are dearly missed.
I'd kill for the entire American Baby Intro studio jam to come out.
I have not even finished this video and I freaking love it. How awesome it is watching the Dave Matthews Band hang out, collaborate, and record music. I'm a late bloomer on viewing this video as it is from 2005. 16 years ago. Wow.
Regardless of the time. I think this band and their songs strike a nerve with a vast amount of fans like no other!
I love Stand-up. It fits a DMB space we need.
Definitely their funkiest album. Very different from their other stuff but not a single dull moment on that album
They were all so high.. OMG lol.. DMB is one of my all time faves!
High?
I like when Dave calls Boyd an A-hole for coming up with the best lick in music for American Baby. 12:28
Interesting video. Sheds a lot of light on why this ended up as it did. Turns out you still have to write songs. Writing based on short loops requires really, really tight riffs that hold your attention on their own for three minutes. That's extremely difficult with acoustic instruments in an ensemble group, regardless of how much you're chopping them up in the editing process.
The Stand Up sessions should have been demos that the band fleshed out afterwords, together. It doesn't look like there was any point where more than one member was playing at a time.
I remember when those videos came out. I was so hyped when my slow ISDN modem had load those short videos. 😝
Many great Jam songs, can‘t imagine how this would have sound with Lillywhite involved in the studio. Love most of this album when they play it live.
One of my fav albums for sure
Dave At The End! Genius! The Love Of This Band And The Connection Through Music They Collectivelly Share Is Unparalleled!!!
When they have all the members playing their instruments collectively they're just simpatico!!
Truly awesome band, and a fantastic bunch of guys🎶😀
EVERYBIT MAKES ME LOVE THESE GUYS MORE...and i've been on board since the begining
I love this record. Such an underrated album.
so true

The production just doesn’t work for me. But the songs work live pretty well. 💪🏻
Notes of Get Back but with the age of Daves generation. beautiful.
Wow these are some talented musicians!
So flippin GREAT!
Dave matthews in the booth is tooo funny
My favorite cd! ❤️❤️❤️
Great Job! One of my favorites bands
When people transcend their own style into another one. It makes for such a better musician
This made me so joyful. I love seeing LeRoi! I love seeing how the music is born. Thank you thank you thank you.
This is amazing! Thanks for the post!!!!!!!!!!!!
You´re Welcome! =)
I love music and I haven't a clue of how you write or arrange music.Im amazed that humans can do such things.
21 shows from 1996-2006. Six shows in 2002. 3 of those at the gorge. Front row 3 times. Met Boyd at the hotel at the gorge. We all watched them get on the buses. Oh well. Everything has a beginning and an end.
lol good video. Dave Matthews at the end. hahaha
fav dmb album of all time
Whaaaaaaaaat
13:58 . . a Dave / TOOL fan. . there's so few of us
Is that really that surprising? If you just love great musicianship you're going to like a whole host of things and what you're listening to at the time just depends on your mood. DMB, NIN, Tool, Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Primus, Queen, Buddy Guy, Phish, Nirvana/Foo Fighters (really anything Grohl gets involved in) and on and on. They are all individuals/groups with amazing musicians.
Chris considering Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry arr who people listen to anymore it is surprising. Unless of course, you're someone who knows what good music is.
@@gerrithoevers sure, but the op is talking about a skilled musician and what they like to listen to not the public as a whole.
Tool & Dave Matthews Band are two of my favorite 5 bands ever!
My favorite album by Dave Mathews Band. It's a timeless masterpiece.
As a lifelong musician/massive fan & I have zero understanding how you can say that?? It's easily the worst collection of music they've ever released. In fact aside from a couple of tracks, the album is a dude/throw away.
Before These Crowded Streets had two songs better than this entire album combined.
Wish they still recorded there.
N 1!!!!!!!
Great 😁😁😁
LeRoi..
RIP LeRoi
Seeing him smile, laugh, and be so happy...
Still can’t help but feel completely heartbroken.
❤️
Miss boyd so much :(
This makes me miss Boyd so much 🥺😭
Miss?
@@m.t.426 lol yeah 💀
@@outofthebox7122He was a good musician. Not a good person by any measure
18:30 Sad when Roi says that because it wasn’t the beginning for him. It was his last record.
Who here from Tiger Wood's 07. Stand up, dawgs
I really miss Roi and Boyd. Just not the same
Agreed. It's not the same anymore, and it won't be quite the same again. We're lucky to have the albums with them.
"skooby fuckin' dooby" - Dave Matthews
There was a video from these Making of series, it was called video 4 or something and it had a riff I always wish they made into a song. Now I can't find the vids.
I'm literally looking for the same thing and can't find it. The riff will pop into my head every now and then and I can never find it.
Found the video! ua-cam.com/video/5vWBPxcn18Q/v-deo.html
Kool
Miss LeRois smile
What is the name of that Beautiful song that Dave is playing on the Acoustic Guitar beginning at 6:54?
Almost kinda sounds like Joy Ride. It was on the scraped stuff from this album, but was on a bonus disc.
What is the song at the 7:00 min mark? Love me some Dave
The scale from what song is Dave is playing at 9:06?
It's the bridge in American Baby, I believe.
😊
9:05 i honestly think this has a lot to do with why stand up doesn't come close to comparing with any other dmb album. batson had dave write a song based off every little riff he came up with noodling around. it takes a lot of time to find that one perfect riff and while some simple noodling might work for a hiphop track, it is NOT dmb
Stand Up has its moments but in general I concur. Live on stage however Dave and the band can take any studio flop and make it golden. ❤
Not their strongest outing album wise, but I'm glad they put all their effort into it and enjoyed working on it.
Lol. 18:18 a sorry attempt for a voice over edit. And 19:05, why we all love Dave.
wow this is a great video. Would love to work with Mark at some point in my life.
Yes this record had some gems but in general I think Carter's drums were muffled, even stifled. I don't know if it was Batson or the way they were recorded, but I felt a difference.
I think he was purposefully attempting sparse drumming on most of it, but the kick and snare are also generally way too loud, which makes it feel like the kit is situated at the front of the mix.
@ 6:54 sounded like a track that was not released or maybe just a jam, but it sounded it great!
Was it Joyride maybe?
Jake DeMatteo It does sound similar, maybe a different variation...
Yeah you're probably right.
Sounds to me like it may be the ending/outro to Everybody Wake Up...
Whats the name of the song on 1:55?
+Ron P Dreamgirl
11:02-11:15 somebody help me, which song is that??? It’s driving me insane that I can’t figure it out
It’s the American Baby Intro on the stand up album, great track
Track #4 on the album
The whole album has an unfinished/"assembled from scraps" feel to it, and this video shows why. It was an experiment that didn't really work out.
I think the SU songs are really good live. But they are really missing Boyd.
@@stackleft2925 I don't understand why they can't get another accomplished violinist to step in as long as it's a good fit and they have a cohesiveness. I mean of they can bring in Jeff Coffin after LeRoi passed then why not bring in somebody in Boyd's spot?
Grace is gone is the best!
hunger for the great light and old dirthill are such great songs....but yeah, this album seems underrated
:51 was there already friction between Dave and Boyd? Jeez.
There's another documentary from around 2000/2001 I'll try to find it an come back to the comments where Boyd actually told Dave "You need to leave the band, and do your own thing" they had tension for quite some time before the whole sexual assault situation involving Boyd & James Frost-Winn.
i think dave's face just looks like that
11:28 never again did it happen
funny
lol 15:42
Yo Boyd's odd. Could see from the get get....
And the violin is the shitty rear view mirror dice xD
Such a bummer this band had to stop being this band
Incredible Sessions, unfortunately the Album was mostly disappointing.
It's weird to hear a band speak so highly of the shitty album they wrote.
I guess for them as artists it was different and freeing, it allowed for new means of creating
@@SammyMakepeace I love Stand Up but songs live are much better
And they were all miserable during what was arguably their best album: the Lillywhite Sessions. Just one of those mysteries of the creative process.
Great video. Horrible album.
I love the band but this was by far the worst album they recorded.
The aboriginal truck kinetically remember because sunday electronmicroscopically terrify across a threatening valley. green grey grieving, ruddy girl
Absolute worst album they have made.
Old Dirt Hill, ABIntro, Out of my hands, 55th n 3rd, Die Tryin, Steady as we go....Seriously?
What horrible strain of weed you smokin?
Stop listening to people and listen to the album LOUD then come back and make correction
