One caveat for anyone who has this laptop, too much pressure on the lid to the keyboard while closed might leave keyboard marks on your screen, permanently.
If you are looking to do light gaming on this, do NOT buy it. I bought mine around a year ago, the bottom scratches easily and I've had problems with the headphone jack and the volume key, I use it mostly for my work and school, occasionally I'll do some light gaming on it (i am a youtuber/streamer) I thought it would be fine for that but it was kind of terrible for gaming, it ran at an average of 15 fps max 20 fps, it kept crashing and lagging so bad (I have good internet) the screen us pretty small, I don't like the keys. Overall I'd rate this personally a 4.5/10 remember this is personal, I don't know if it is just my computer or not.
I'm reading very conflicting reports about battery life on this. Some are saying one should expect around 5h of real time use, others 10. It's very confusing.

Real differences from this Hp Aero 13, vs the (mostly) commented here Macbook Air M1, from my point of view, that could make you go for the Aero. First - the matte screen, many of us prefer that. Second - more ports. Third - Windows environment, if you already know MacOS is not for you, or that both ecosystems can be good. Fourth - keyboard. good on both, but maybe, better for some of us, with HP. Fifth - weight; even though the Air is light, the Aero is lighter. Sixth - Clipboard option on Windows; many of us like that, that unfortunately Mac doesnt have natively, at least. Both laptops are good, and fortunately, have their differences.
You stated the laptop was made of recycled plastic, but it’s a magnesium aluminum alloy. Not sure where you got that recycled ocean plastic from… It also has USB-C charging. That’s too many inaccuracies in one video.
Thanks for the review! Question: How's the Wifi chip performance in this one? I've heard HP used the Realtek chip in this machine and it is not always consistent...did you notice any signal drops during your testing?
I went with the Acer Swift x Amd 5800u with buit in RTX 3050ti and have had the Swift 3 with 4800u before I upgraded to the Swift x. I recently acquired an HP 17" with Ryzen 5 5500u expecting USB c charging only to find out it doesn't support USB C charging. Now watching this review and finding out this also doesn't support USB charging, is a surprise to me. At the time of this review it was 2021/22, HP is late in going with the trend. The need to change their mantra from "Leader of innovation" to "We're late and behind the industry". My hobby is photography, and have switch to mirrorless, so my bag includes a light laptop, a tablet, and my a6500. It helps a lot if I only have one charging brick the charges all of them.
If you want windows buy the swift x If you want mac os buy a macbook it's really that simple There's no comparison when you are picking laptops that run two different os You have to decide which OS is better for you and pick accordingly

Well the m1 MacBook is $899 with a student discount, and this laptop you can find for under $600 on HP's site. I do think the MacBook is a better laptop overall, but the price difference is enough to warrant a consideration on which is better for an individual
I‘d spend a bit more for either the Macbook Air or Lenovo Slim 7 Carbon. For around $300 more, you get much better build quality and speakers, also usb c charging. The Slim 7 also has a bigger 14in display. Macbook Air is fanless which will give you a much longer lifespan. But it's probably not a good buy atm since it's already over a year old.

Thank you for the detailed review!
Bought one for my dad and this is by far the best reasonably priced Ryzen ultraportable laptop in my opinion.
been waiting for this, thank you! awesome thin n light
I'm reading very conflicting reports about battery life on this. Some are saying one should expect around 5h of real time use, others 10. It's very confusing.
Awesome review highlights the most important features we expect from a laptop.
One thing I will say for HP laptops of late, sound is better than the laptops of yesteryear. So good for listening to media.
8:14 I have an envy 17 with the same rubber strips, and just upgarded memory and ssd. Actually if you peel off those rubber strips slowly you can put them back in just as new.
Just got this for $587 before Tax with free 2 day shipping through a discount I have through work. Can't wait to get it!
It is on Black Friday sale so go get it!
Finally I bought it this week. My best decision ever. Thank You HP
How is it so far?
any wifi issues? and if i use an usb wifi adapter instead of the onboard one, should everything be okay?
Updates???
thankyou , i just bought this one on amazon sale :)

That's actually an all-magnesium chassis. Not plastic.
You stated the laptop was made of recycled plastic, but it’s a magnesium aluminum alloy. Not sure where you got that recycled ocean plastic from…
It also has USB-C charging. That’s too many inaccuracies in one video.
Mine is ordered with the 1600p display, I have not been able to find any professional reviews of that option but I took a chance on it. We'll see
How's it so far?
I think this is like the only channel that I don’t skip through the sponsor segments lmao.
I'm using hp envy 13 right now, and it's working so well .
How would you recommend this from 0-10 (0 very bad and 10 very good)
@@fernandot988 10/10 for normal used..
Pity this isn't available in Canada yet (except for the lower 8gb model from Costco)
many people pointing that wifi module is garbage, woule be great if u could test it aswell since it doesnt have ethernet port
This video really help. Many Thanks 😊.
Thanks for the review!
Question: How's the Wifi chip performance in this one? I've heard HP used the Realtek chip in this machine and it is not always consistent...did you notice any signal drops during your testing?
Your also need to try MSI Modern 14. It's a very solid budget laptop.
I bought it after watching your review
Silver keys and white backlight is a no go
Actually the usb c can be used for charging .
Worth watching
Good job sir
To get to the bottom screws just peel up a little on each side.
I can imagine an HP Envy 14 with Ryzen 5 6000 and a 3050TI. Can't wait!
I don't want this thing get popularity here by any local youtubers because it will skyrocketed its price through the roof.
Seriously, Canadian reviewers .... PLEASE(!!) include links to Canadian websites. Thank you (rant over).
Very cool overview
Should I go for M1 MacBook air or this ? Consider 8+256 for mac and 5600u+16+512 for hp aero
Never get the base model on Apple especially if you think you’re going to keep it for a few years.
Couldn't find this portable gem in my country so I settled for the Acer Swift X
its in the 500s right now too
Can't recommend this laptop enough, really happy with my purchase. Hopefully it holds up.
any wifi issues? and if i use an usb wifi adapter instead of the onboard one, should everything be okay?
@@oxnyz1883 for me no wifi issues at all.
More important - does the Type-C support Display Port? Then you can just dock it and charging through USB would not take away useful ports.
I have this exact same laptop it support fast type c charging 65 watts i am using ugreen 65 gan type c charger
@@HarisKhan-ju4mg Which laptop are you referring to? I mentioned 4 in my book(long paragraph).
How about Acer Swift X
Ryzen 7 5800U with a dedicated GPU 3050ti, 16 Gigs RAM and 512 Gigs SSD, is it worth to buy compare to M1macbook air?
Get M1 MacBook Air.
Not worth it
If you want windows buy the swift x
If you want mac os buy a macbook it's really that simple
There's no comparison when you are picking laptops that run two different os
You have to decide which OS is better for you and pick accordingly
its worth if you need that 3050ti
@@arushh42 Stop spamming.
Cost in Indian rupees ???
Planning to get this, but my country only have the 8GB model. 🤦♂️
hopefully they would refresh it next year wih RDNA2, then it will become perfect if they don't downgrade any other feature
FYI, the Corsair link in the description is not clickable, at least on mobile.
Please suggest in the future on sub 2000 dollar thin and light gaming laptops
Any idea on the to be released Lenovo Yoga 7 Pro (16')? I think it might be a worthy competitor to the already well valued Aero 13.
@@bdsuf Yeah, I got acknowledged recently that it was at least 1300 Euros.
You can get a MacBook air with the best build quality in the market,8 core M1 processor,QHD+ 16:10 retina display and other features just for 899$ on sale right now.I am surprised you recommended this.
Well the m1 MacBook is $899 with a student discount, and this laptop you can find for under $600 on HP's site. I do think the MacBook is a better laptop overall, but the price difference is enough to warrant a consideration on which is better for an individual
Also depends on what OS fits your needs.
thank you this was really helpful. but to be clear this runs games like valorant well?
Guys, get this if you're in the market for a thin and light. This starts for 580$ on hp site now.
India?
How would this stack up against my current 2017 Dell XPS 13 (8th gen, Core i5)? The Dell 9360 has been great, but I'm thinking of replacing it with something similarly portable and hopefully a bit more powerful. I'd be doing Office, DAW (Studio One), and hobbyist-level video editing in Davinci Studio and Topaz VEAI.
I am ordering it tommorow, wish it doesn't sell out by then 🤞
Don't, get the Zenbook or a Mac if possible. Even the swift x
@@jame5game5 Which Zenbook would you recommend? Most of my apps are windows only so i cant get a Mac

i like my surface with ryzen5se for under 1k u get the best display on the market and buildquality as well as original microsoft product support.

Nice video brother
Aiyayaya, if this has a thunderbolt port so I can use a single cable display and charging set up, then this is THE LAPTOP
does this laptop have windows hello face id? thanks great review
Is it still worth to These days?
Does it charge over USB C? Please talk about this with every thin and light laptop review.
Otherwise great review
For me I'd still get the Huawei matebook 14 due screen aspect ratio and better speakers
Yes it does
@@jman000 will 30 watt type c cable will be enough to charge this laptop
@@nishatafroj880 Don't have this laptop (yet) but you want to have at least the wattage of the included AC Power Brick it came with. So no less than 45 watts. Someone commented that they use a 65 watt Anker USB-C charger and it charges very quickly for them. Again I haven't tried it myself but it may be good advice. Good day to you.
Do you prefer this or the HP Pavillion 14 inch? (AMD RYZEN 5 version)
I can't seem to buy this laptop from anywhere in Canada..
Do a review of swift x
Excuse me, would you recommend it for a medicine student? I won’t use it for anything besides some very light gaming and studying, but i need a computer that will last a couple of years at least, while performing adequately during that time, do you think this computer fits the bill? I would be getting the AMD 7 processor and 16/512 GB ram and memory.
yes! Even in 2022 it's still a great value. My cousin just snagged one for a little over $700 🔥 (R7 5800U 16GB)
Wish it had 54 watt hr battery
This is very relevant to my interests! What about a top slim and light 13" laptop comparison video? I'm looking to get a 13" laptop for under 1k (like the aer13) with similar specs. Are there any similar options that offer 5-10% better gaming performance? The Asus Zenbook 13 from the benchmarks looks like exactly what I might want. Is there any way to link to that specific build (or know what version of the Zenbook 13 is 25watts)? It seems like most manufactures don't advertise the wattage and I want to make sure I'm getting that 25 watt chip.
If you're looking for gaming, then t he Acer swift X is better
I think the Intel version of the Zenbook has a higher wattage
@@jame5game5 Thank you for the options. I'll look into them!
Who found a powerbank that actually works with this? I've tried 3 and all work for about 5-10 seconds and then turn off.
can i upgrade to 2 tb ssd?
hey, i need some suggestions
should i go for legion 7 with 32GB of ram, bundled with (legion armored backpack, m500 mouse, and h300 headset) which is 100 USD more expensive or a legion 5 pro with 16GB of ram bundled with (legion recon backpack, m300 mouse, and h300 headset), and the rest of the specifications are the same
I would definitely pick Legion 7
legion 7, more premium and twice the RAM
I would ask them how much TDP limit is on the RTX. More TDP = better in terms of performance.
So can you charge via USB-C port if you have the cord? I know it comes with barrel charger but I think you should be able to charge USB-C
Hi there. I am planning to get samsung 65w type c pd charger. Will it charge. I remember before 1 year when I purchased I wanted to make sure it charges with type c pd. Just want to confirm 65w type c charger would work.
anyone know if I can find this laptop in Canada? Can't find it in the official HP CA store.
Same!
$800 is not what I would call an affordable laptop.
Its on sale for $549. Now its affordable or slightly above affordable
