What a fantastic preserved railway this is Patrick. I could tell that you really enjoyed the haul behind that steam locomotive in the comfortable carriages. The museum looks to be a must for any serious railway enthusiast or just a visitor. There's so much to see in that building, with the signalling equipment and numerous other railwayana items, which I know a little bit about with previously working on the railway. The pictures and station name plates are an amazing collection. I noticed that they have heritage diesel multiple unit trains in the main rolling stock collection as well. Many thanks for the showing of this video, Patrick. It's much appreciated.
This was a great little bonus after my earlier walk Ffranc. Can't believe it's taken me all these years to finally ride on this steam train, but I've done it now. I love watching all the volunteers who keep these old railways going. The museum is fab and so much to see. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching 👍
That was awesome. I loved the shot you got from your window, as the train entered the bend. The engine reminded me of one of my favourite old films, Oh Mr Porter. It was excellent to see it running and people filming it. I've never been on a steam train either so you beat me to it. The old signs in the station house sell for hundreds a piece these days because they are collectors items. That station is priceless. I'm so glad you filmed this, it was great. Cheers Patrick
Thanks Kelly. It was tricky filming from the windows due to reflections and dirt on them, but I'm glad I got those shots. Not sure if I've ever seen Oh Mr Porter, must look that up. I've been on steam trains before, but just not this one so it was great to have finally done so after so many years. I bet a lot of those old relics in the station and museum are worth a few bob now. Glad you enjoyed it Kelly, thanks as always for watching 👍
Thankyou Patrick enjoyed your train journey 😊 there is just something nostalgic about steam trains and those little railway stations, abit of a cosiness about them....compared to now. Again thankyou for taking us along and have a good weekend 😊
Glad you enjoyed it Steph. I love all these steam trains and watching the people who keep it all going. Thanks for watching and have a good weekend too 👍😀
I love heritage lines too. The museum reminded me of the NYM railway with a heritage ticket office and Peak Rail near Matlock which when I went on it it had themed stations. Such great memories and wonderful volunteers. Thanks for sharing Patrick
Yes I live close to Peak Rail and was on the NYM line earlier this year for my partner's birthday. The Dean Forest Railway only runs for a few miles but it's a great trip all the same. Thanks for watching 👍
We thoroughly enjoyed your video on the Forrest of Dean railway Patrick,it's been many years since we visited this railway society, the first time was in 1984 , glad to see it's still continuing despite the current ecconomic situation, please continue with your excellent videos as we enjoy them all as we are retired and don't get out that often, many thanks Alan and carol Morgan!
Many thanks for your kind words Alan and Carol, glad you've been enjoying the videos. I remember this railway from when I lived closer to the area a long time ago, but this was my very first time riding on it. It was great to have finally done it. All the best 👍
hi Patrick, just watched your train journey,it looked amazing.you cannot beat the old steam trains.i once went on one years ago from Pickering to goat land where they filmed heartbeat.it was strange without your music.cannot wait for another fantastic video.take care 👍👍❤️❤️
Morning Shane, it was a lovely little trip. Yes I've been on the North Yorkshire Moors line too. We were there for Linda's birthday this year and went from Goathland to Whitby. It's a lovely ride on the steam train as you know. Thanks as always for watching and commenting 👍😀
Hello Patrick , well that's a must on my next trip home , I was not able to make this year, as my Mum has not been to well , all good now thankfully , love this video what a great day trip , I saw a bench from Blaisdon Hall I believe it's some sort of retreat now , back in 1952 I was christened there back then it was a school for deprived children ran by Catholic priest's and there was a small chapel there . I am really enjoying your return to the Gloucestershire . Thank you Patrick.
Loved the trains in this one Patrick. Brings back times gone by. I bet the little dog on the train was a Jack Russell?! 😂you can always trust a JRT to be energetic and excited! Already looking forward to the next one. Hope you have a great weekend too. ❤xx
Glad you enjoyed it Sylvia. It was a small dog for sure, so probably a Jack Russell. It started barking each time the train began to move, it was probably scared. Thanks as always Sylvia for your comments, have a great weekend 👍😀
An interesting venture with your train ride and museum visit. Must admit I never like travelling backwards as it makes me feel sick. But do enjoy train rides when opportunity arises. Certainly plenty of stops on route for breaks Patrick. Nice relaxation for you too.
Morning Shanita, it was a nice little bonus after completing my earlier walk. The train ride was great, lasted about 90 minutes I think. The museum is interesting too, love to see all those old relics preserved. Thanks for watching Shanita, all the best 👍
Hi Patrick, Thank you again for your walks, and we loved the ride on the steam train, they are much better than the electric one's. I bet it felt strange riding instead of walking. Thank you for showing us around the museum and the little model railway. Take care, regards Dave & Jean.
Morning Dave and Jean, it was a lovely little ride on the stream train. I had done a walk featured in the previous film, but I had just enough time after that to catch the last steam train of the day on this railway. Thanks for watching, all the best 👍
I did laugh at the switchboard Patrick. Don't you just love these old relics? My favourite is an old train waiting room. Back and forth there but so good to hear the sounds and feel the smoke through the forest. I remember old carriages still in use in the early 80's - you know the ones with separate rooms with sliding doors. Do you? Well. a good old ride there - you smiled a lot, Patrick. A good sign doe sure. All the best over the weekend. Mark
Haha yeah they're great aren't they Mark 😁 It's fascinating to see those relics and the volunteers working at the old station who preserve them. I do remember those old carriages Mark. Linda and I with some of her family rode on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway earlier this year, and those carriages have the separate rooms with the sliding doors - great stuff. Yeah this was a nice little ride to do after my earlier walk. Thanks Mark, all the best as always 👍
@@solitaryrambler They are Patrick - fun! Yeah, great to see the old ways and to hear of your ride through the Yorkshire Moors. Loved them old carriages.
Wonderful video Patrick. Just the tonic after a long week at work. I’ve never been on a steam train myself either, they’ve always been electric, though I tend to drive everywhere these days 😂
Loads of amazing things in museum & really interesting Patrick. You really enjoyed being on board, I was smiling along with you. My Great Great Grandad was a station master in the late 1920's in England. Thank you as always, delightful. 😀
Glad you enjoyed it Lesley. It was a nice bonus to have this train ride after my earlier walk. Lovely to have had your great great grandad as a station master 😀 Thanks for watching 👍
Took my girls on there in the summer great afternoon out for the money. There is something very special about steam trains the smell the sound brilliant.
Wow your first time on a steam train, there's so many heritage railways in the UK you've got the Llangollen, the North Yorks, the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland to name a few, but ok they can get expensive, maybe next one to do is your local one Peak Rail, hopefully you'll do another next time you're on holiday somewhere Patrick, 🚂🚂, but that was a lovely little film hope it's inspired you to do more now.
Morning Steve, it was my first time on this particular steam railway, but I've been on many others before now. I was on the North Yorkshire Moors train earlier this year on my partner's birthday, and rode on the Ffestiniog line back in 1986. Glad you enjoyed watching this, thanks Steve 👍
Really enjoyable watch! thank you! best wishes Darren👍👍👍
Thank you for watching!👍

Glad you enjoyed it, I love all the people who volunteer to preserve these old railways 👍😀

Thanks Jamie. I've been on steams before, but not this particular one. Definitely was worth riding on this after my earlier walk 👍

Sorry Patrick I got the wrong end of the stick, must be getting old 🤣🤣
You need to do more with steam trains Patrick. Yorkshire has good steam rail experiences.
I've been on lots of steam trains, but just not filmed them. I was on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway earlier this year with my partner and family 👍
nothing beats a ride on an old steam engine pat.
Thanks Ken, it was a great little steam ride 👍
