I've been looking for a better replacement for my kit lens for a while. unfortunately I'm airways on a lower budget. I must say for the price, this lens is exceptional. For someone who does indoor event photography this lens is brilliant. Due to the f/2.8 aperture right through the zoom range. Thanks for your review.
The lens does not have any practical zoom creep in most situations, BUT it does in extreme scenarios. When hiking I carry my camera on a CaptureClip attached to my backpack strap, and with the lens pointed right downwards and bumping around, it does actually creep all the way unless I use the zoom lock.
That is the best review of this lens. Really highlights the pros and cons. As for my personal thoughts, for that kind of money there is no better and versatile lens to go for.
The zoom lock is there for storage, on and off the camera.. The Sigma AF system reminds me of the Nikon D series with their moving focus rings. I love Nikon D series lenses (some have better IQ than equivalent G series glass) ☺️.. Just remember to keep your fingers away from the ring when focusing and all will be well.
Thanks this video helped because I wasn't sure if this was the right lens but this was a really great review and it helped me make my decision to buy this lens (:
Hello! Could you please give me a piece of advice? )) I have a standard canon 18-55 lens, I want to change it to a more high-aperture one. I take pictures of my kid, she is always in motion, often at home, where the lighting is weak and I have to turn up the iso to freeze motion at a short shutter speed. As a result, the quality of the photo is awful. And I also like to take pictures of landscapes, but this happens from time to time. What lens would you advise to buy? Now I consider the canon 35 mm f2, it is not cheap, so I don’t want to regret it later. Is this fix lens suitable for portrait and landscape shooting, as well as for video? Or it's better to by sigma 17-50? Thanks a lot if anybody answers!
nice review! thank you! but I still have one question: would you recommend sigma 1750 when I do already have the pancake 24mm? have the 24mm pancake and I am thinking about more quality/sharpness in relation to get a bigger and heavy lense in contrast to 24mm pancake... I am using the 100d / rebel ... Hope u can give me a good advice
Ditch the d5100 altogether and get a Canon 700D... You can still use your nikon lens with an adapter and Canon lenses are generally cheaper than nikon lenses
I understand the focusing ring rotates when we do the autofocusing. But will touching the ring while it is focusing damage the internal AF mechanism? Like what reviews says of the competing models of 17-50 f2.8 from Tamron?
Good video! Could you spot the difference between Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 and Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8. Looking for a purchase between these two lenses for event photography. Your verdict on these two lenses. Thank you!
+Ameet Pawar The 17-70 basically sacrifices the constant F2.8 aperture for a little more range. You'd have to choose between constant F2.8 aperture vs better range. The 17-70 is also cheaper. Personally I'd still go for the 17-50.
Hey I just got mine but noticed there is a bit of a rattle sound and I am not really shaking the lens just moving it. Is that normal to hear a bit of a rattle in the inside of the lens? Hope to hear back from anyone of you! Thanks!
Not a canon user, but from my research into the Sigma. I believe their performance is very very similar, with people citing either-or to be slightly better. But the Sigma was way cheaper than the Canon for comparable quality.
I love this lens. It's on my 70D 90% of the time. Highly recommended!
I also have a 70d and I’m about to buy a use one for 225$. Do you think is a good deal this day? Doy you still recommended this Lens?
Dex Pyran my comment was for you. Sorry!

@@julyy2211001 can you tell me about it's autofocus when using video? Is it laggingvor hunting a lot?

Thanks. I will be purchasing this. Pairing it with a Canon 90d.
Thanks for pointing out that it mounts on the red dot. I just ordered one today and can't wait to use it!

Thanks for the review. I was going to buy this but I'm just going to pay a little more and buy a used sigma 18-35mm F1.8.
Will this work with Canon rebel T5i?
+spllitz yes.
Nice explanation, thanks
Can you do pls a VS review with the Sigma 17-50 2.8 vs the Kit lens 18-55mm II .... if its really worth the upgrade ... sharpness test etc :)
Could you please do a review on the good old canon 17-55 f2.8
I got it last week and broke it in on 2day festival. So far so good. I'm loving the quality and range on my crop sensor.
being honest , my sigma 17-50 f2.8 began creeping after 4 months so its more of wear and tear
Keep up the good work reviewing lenses.Thank you.
Should I get this instead of the Canon 18-135mm IS STM?
Going through the same dilemma 😢
Which one did u get
Thanks this video helped because I wasn't sure if this was the right lens but this was a really great review and it helped me make my decision to buy this lens (:
And your demo is with a full-frame (EOS 5D)?
Hey Bro. Would you please tell me if it is good for wide-angle or not? I want to buy that for wide-angle. Please suggest.
Only $289 on Amazon in 2019
Nicely done. Great video
GREAT INFORMATION
Have you noticed that it's quite stiff when you try to put the lens onto the camera? You have to put a lot of force to slide it into place
I'm considering this lens for concert, because I use a D5200 and can't afford FX lenses, would you recommend it?
is AF good during video? also how does it compare to the Canon 17-55 is usm?
Is this lens good with video ? Will be using it for working out and vlogs.
does it have compatibility issue with d3300? battery drain?

I’ve been trying to sell my lens like this but I can’t figure out what mount it is :/
Hello, do you think it will be that bad using this lens on a 5D mark II?
Would you recommend this lens for video shooting interviews? Would the focus motor be an issue?
How is this compared with sigma 17-70? If you can please make a video about it..
Great review! It's a great lens for the price!
Could you please review the Sigma 10-20 mm f3.5 for video makers?
Great video, I love this lens!
what is the purpose of OS?
i brought this sigma.
i found a lot of noise in my 7d markii body
when i reach iso 300 up!
Noise has nothing to do with the lens.
nice review!
thank you!
but I still have one question:

I am using the 100d / rebel ...
Hope u can give me a good advice

WHATS THE BEST LENS FOR THE NIKON D-5100 BECAUSE I HAVE THE AF-F NIKKOR 50MM 1.1.8 G
AND IM NOT A RICH GUY????????
Ditch the d5100 altogether and get a Canon 700D... You can still use your nikon lens with an adapter and Canon lenses are generally cheaper than nikon lenses

Yes it will damage it
good info!
You focus in the middle wide open, then you judge the sharpness of the corners? You should focus on the corners if you judge their sharpness.
Would appeeciate if u can do a review for sigma 30mm f1.4 art lens for canon. 😁
Good video! Could you spot the difference between Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 and Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8. Looking for a purchase between these two lenses for event photography. Your verdict on these two lenses. Thank you!

Thank you!
+Ameet Pawar The positive about the sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 is the macro function. Pretty useful :)
Thank you Mohd Ruhaifi
the sigma 17-70 Contemporary is better or worse option than this 17-50... please advise

Which would be better for eos 80D for general purpose ( indoors /events /portraits ?
canon 18-55 stm + 50mm OR
sigma 17-50 OS hsm
I'll be thankful
+Khlafo Kaiser I'll personally go for the Sigma 17-50.
Is is Parafucal?
This one or the Canon 17-55 2.8?
Not a canon user, but from my research into the Sigma. I believe their performance is very very similar, with people citing either-or to be slightly better. But the Sigma was way cheaper than the Canon for comparable quality.
Is it only mine or when you move your camera around you hear something moving inside the lens...
