I’m praying for you that this biopsy comes back negative for cancer although I know you highly suspect that it is. If it is, I pray that you can feel the love and support around you as you tackle this treatable diagnosis.
You are helping so many people like myself learn to accept this new reality. My anxiety issues unfortunately get the best of me from time to time especially before annual scans. I’ve been cancer free since March 2022 my last month of active treatment.

I have dense tissue and just contacted my pcp to send my script for my 6 month follow up mammogram because I have a small red mark and so I figured I need to be serious about these follow ups. Your videos are helping so many people including myself :)

I'm glad that your channel is providing an outlet to dump all the feels, both good and bad. I don't think it is ever easy to put cancer completely behind us, is it? It's always lurking in the dark corners waiting to jump out and scare the sh*t out of us all over again. How did you make it through all the publicity, podcasts, interviews? Well, #1 you're a woman, and that is just what we do. We carry on, don't we? I totally duplicate that feeling of wanting the just flip the switch, stop time (and the world) until we feel like we can log back into life. There probably isn't a perfect solution, but I think you are doing brilliantly! (that, or you're a good faker). Much love, many hugs, sincere wishes for healing again. xoxo ❤❤❤

I had stage 1 lobular Er+ in 2014 then in 2019 I had local recurrence this time it was Stage 3 now and in 2022 it metastasised to my ovaries, stomach and skin. My skin met was just a little pimple on my back but i noticed it was growing. So i had it checkout and in a space of 2 weeks I was diagnosed with all mets. Thanks again for the vlog and explaining everything to us.

When I got diagnosed in 2021, I looked everywhere for information and that search led me to your book -Breasr cancer. It became my Bible and it still is. In April this year 2023 I had a reoccurrence and I have just started radiotherapy.your story has moved me. For a long time I kept on thinking there must be something I did wrongly and I have had people who have subtly hinted that I have done something wrong to get a recurrence

Thanks for sharing your story, I just bought your book. My mom was just found to have breast cancer in her lymph nodes after 17 years of thinking she was clear. She just had loads of scans and we got the results 60-90 minutes after each one, but one is a bit unclear so we're kinda in a waiting game to find out more and get treatment started. Watching videos like yours bring me comfort and also help me be more alert and on guard with my own health.

I developed rash by my entire mastectomy, 10 week post op. Dermatologist said it was lymphodemia. Recommend lymphatic massages 2x per week. Surgeon checked rash. She said nothing to worry about.

I had breast cancer 10 years ago and despite being a reasonably well informed person I was never explicitly informed as to what and where I should be looking for a local reoccurrence or what the difference is, why aren’t we given this information ? Your blog will help save lives , Thank you .

How on earth is a breast cancer survivor meant to adequately perform a monthly breast self exam with any measure of accuracy or success, when all I can feel is scar tissue and lymphedema? If there is something sinister lurking there, how am I meant to feel it and recognize it as such?? This is what terrifies me. I would be so grateful for any advice. Thank you for your selfless sharing of your experience for our benefit. You are a truly beautiful human. 🙏🏼
It is hard. I get that. All you can do is get to used to how your breasts feel now - so scar tissue and swollen skin to help you pick up another cancer in the breast. The risk of that happening is much smaller with your other treatment and your yearly mammos aim to pick anyhting up well before you would notice anything
In this world that we live in today, our politicians, all the big corporations, people who are famous, the neighbor down the street people who have there heads in the clouds what I'm trying to say is the love for your fellow man has gone out the window life has been so dehumanized until one sees your video on cancer and under stands how human we relay are. Grateful for all you share from your truly unique perspective as surgeon and patient of this awful disease. I listen intently to your knowledge. Praying for your outcome on this occurrence. Truly hate you find yoursey going through this...again.. I was stage 3, grade 2 last year. On lettizole as usual but also abemaciclib due to high risk of recurrence. So I am trying to be vigilant on watching for changes. Your information today was very appreciated. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

hope this time the treatment will be completely effective. Thank you for your blog and for sharing with us your experience as a sick doctor. I came across it when one of my close friends fell ill in June this year with triple negative breast cancer with involvement of the axillary nodes. On the one hand, we doctors are stronger because we fully understand the essence of the disease. On the other hand, because of this knowledge, we are more aware and therefore more sensitive. I wish you to be healthy and happy 👩 ⚕️🤗

Thankyou Liz for being so upfront, very helpful and informative. I didn't know what to look out for with reoccurrence . After treatment you are just left really in the system with no regular checks or appointments, I'm 6 yrs post, and having a final yearly mammogram next week. I always feel anxious leading up to this. Thank you so much for sharing. I cannot imagine how you are dealing with this for the 3rd time. The spot you showed most people would not even notice it at all. I was diagnosed in 2017 and had surgery, chemo and radiotherapy and my heart sinks everytime I hear of someone with a reoccurrence. Why is breast cancer so common? Is there any research into that?

I too jumped ship from my day job, largely due to what I learned through my first breast cancer experience 20 years ago (life is short, do something you are passionate about!).

Hello and thank you for your truthful and frank talk. I was just diagnosed with 4th stage breast cancer. I feel fine, except for pain at night underneath my armpit, where the cancer has spread throughout my body. (bones, lungs) just a bit tired, but nothing to complain about. Looking at me you would never guess I have stage 4 breast cancer! The other day my Dr. gave me Letrozole tablets. I have an EKG next Monday and a bone density coming up, so I thought I'd wait on taking them until they have a baseline on my heart and bone health. If someone like my self decides to skip all these horrific side effects, and pills to combat the bad effect of pills, I wonder, what would my life be like if I just let cancer take it's course? Does anyone just refuse all of this, so they can enjoy the rest of their life, no matter how long or short? I am 67 yrs old and I am asking some heavy questions. Thank you for all that you are doing to empower us who have been diagnosed with cancer.
some poeple refuse to take them but you have to be able not to blame yourself if your cancer does come back

Thank you for making this video. I’m currently waiting for a call from radiation to start my planning session next week. I was diagnosed with IDC with a lymph node effected as well. Pathology after surgery showed it was mixed IDC and ILC with DCIS. My doctors don’t think this makes a difference but I feel it’s just because the mixed type hasn’t really been studied much. Do you have any insight?
IDC and ILC are treated the same when it comes to surgery and radiotherapy and hormone therapy
Despite all the medical profession's claims this disease, particularly of the breast, cannot be cured. Sorry. You seem like a good person. The NHS health care workers in Havring/Redbridge abused my mother who was already disabled. Nine years on after losing my Mum it hurts deeply how she suffered through chemotherapy, drugs, bone biopsy and how she tolerated the abuse on top of it. I wish you well.
We cure about 75% of all breast cancers but at the moment we can’t beat bad biology

Tumor 1.6 cen grew .8 close to chest wall removed tumor no lymph nodes involved. Won't do chemo I am 77 says I might not survive no radiation.
Not that I want any of it but I thought they should have done more then Anastrozle. My onco score 30. Stage 1 grade 2 tumor. Do you think this is enough? JUST CAUSE I AM 77 I am not ready to die
I'm sorry but I can't give personal medical advice. But Anastrazole works well in many women

just found you and you are a true treasure. so knowledgeable, to the point, genuine. My question is: what is AVERAGE amount of time for local recurrence? I am sure it varies quite a bit but if there's a "normal/average" time interval I'd like to know. You are now in my prayers "new friend".
There is no average time. It can happen after 6 months or 20 years x
I find your talks very useful. Im a retired military GP (not really retired, i had a career change, I'm a farmer these days😉). I have wonderful medical support but my family just seem to assume im immortal and can cope with anything, probably because i always have 🙄

I am going for my 4th chemo tomorrow very anxious as they are changing one of my chemo medication to EC, my pulse is very high since i started my chemo really scared if this will make it worse.
I wanted ask if there was anything I can do to help me minimise my side effects after chemo fpr 10 to 12 days i go though so much pain not being able to go to loo and if i do i lose blood, i have my skin peeling off, numbness in my legs and hands mouth blisters and blisters in my body.

Did it seem more like a skilled job performed as you moved onto your next patient
I realize no Doctor can take on another’s suffering but would appreciate your thoughts
I was a very empathetic doctor before my diagnosis. Becoming a patient only helped me realise what further information they needed
Best wishes doc you are so strong have u checked whether you have BRCA gene mutation ? Hope u recover soon! I have implant reconstruction too with nipple so I am also worried that a recurrence would cost my implant don’t want another surgery 😢 I am of Her2

Thanks for the detailed information .. I wanted to ask about receptors hr+ and her2 + or her2 - ? .. and now from the hindsight do you regret taking endocrine therapy and removing ovary ? Do you feel the didn't do the job they meant to do despite bearing the side effects ? Or you feel they maybe prevented a worse outcome?
Hormonal therapy delayed my cancer coming back. I don't regret it at all

As for a question, if you don’t mind, do you think it’s a good idea (ie reduces chance of a recurrence or new breast cancer) if, having had a mastectomy one side, one has the other breast removed? Currently living in fear that it will appear in remaining breast, as it did with my mother.
I get asked this a lot and cover it in my book ' The Complete Guide to Breast Cancer'. Removing a healthy breast will not stop your breast cancer coming back in your bones or organs, and the treatment you have had for your original breast cancer will also reduce the risk of you getting breast cancer in the other side

I had my first diagnosis in March, mastectomy on one side, another operation for several lymph nodes as my sentinel was cancerous as well. On Tamoxifen since then. A bit older than you but with several chronic diseases in tow and a 13 year old son. I am so afraid it might come back, my hubby does not really understand how it feels. None of my other diseases could kill me apart from the Addisons, but I have had it so long, I am good at avoiding a crisis.
The breast cancer thing is different, one you can‘t trust and my hubby simply is cooler than me. I thank you so much for telling us what we have to look for as I would have never thought the skin could be involved. I thought the side was safe with the breast gone. It is why I decided to have a mastectomy plus with CFS/ME in tow it was unthinkable to drive one hour to radiation, get it and drive back, so for me it was the only option.

I am at high for risk breast cancer recurrence. I am currently on tamoxifen and abemaciclib aldough I was having my periods before my diagnosis I am not offered zoladex . Anyone else? Thanks
