I had this game on my Amiga 500 many years ago. Now, i have it on my PlayStation 2 in a compilation called TAITO LEGENDS. Me and my friend played it once completely. It's like OPERATION WOLF... Except one thing: In space, no one can hear you SCREAM! Excellent longplay! 😺👍🕹️
I remember playing this when I was in highschool. I'm still salty at a friend who misunderstood the final boss fight and unloaded all his missiles at the controls behind the boss, giving us a game over.
Geez, this is a creepy game. They really nailed all the worst aspects of hostile extraterrestrial activity, from the unsettling transformation of the environment to be repurposed for the aliens, to the eggs, to the human corpses littered about. But the worst thing to watch were the people running toward you that were already foregone and mutated into aliens themselves.
Also the cocoons in the alien hive... most of which just disintegrate once you shoot them, the people inside already too far gone. Worst for me (though you don't see it in this playthrough) is in the lab section - one enemy is a milky white jellified blob of (ex)human heads and tentacles
Man I wish I’d seen this in arcades. I definitely would’ve dropped a lot of quarters into it. There are so many great arcade machines that just never made it anywhere near where I lived, though!
@@Peter_Morris the gun's were quite large that was attached to the arcade machine, you could tell they was inspired by the pulse rifle from aliens and they had the grenade switch at the front-end side too.
One of my favorite light gun games. Cool how it has kind of a Dead Space vibe (or rather, Dead Space has a Space Gun vibe) to it with limb severing being more beneficial than headshots. I wonder EA borrowed from this or if it's just coincidence?
@@cyberpunkgamer5866 just entering an arcade and being able to detect this game from the sound's was a skill all by itself. The limb severing could have inspired someone in the industry with that idea that your enemy will keep on coming unless you break it apart.
A remastered version of this game need's to happen, i recall back in the 90s filling the arcade machine with pound coins and blocking it trying to play this.
As I recall, the wall boxes just contain ammo for the special weapons. You DO find varying numbers of hostages on the different routes through the levels.
Was about to ask about controlled movement. Read the video info first! Nice shooter and not too long, but i noticed that power-ups sometimes don't give ammo
In my playthrough those humanoid aliens are much more durable, shooting them nonstop and they don't even flinch and can still attack, even a T-800 in T2 arcade isn't that sturdy. And that final boss was just plain evil, a breakable control panel that automatically gives you the bad ending if you destroy it, forcing you to watch your shots (on a gun that only shoots auto and not single fire) while the boss constantly throws several projectiles that needs to be shot down I'd expect this kind of unfairness from SNK, but not Taito of all people
Fun to watch someone playing that really knows the game (shoulder shots to stun lock enemies, knowing when to back up etc). I wonder if it's possible to do a damage free run of the game (TAS or Human)...?

That guy can go to hell.
Ugh. You'd think he'd have gotten the hint once he got the warning about the danger of explode.
Don't know how many coins I spent on this game back in the days. Never got any good at it, but it was one of my absolute favs. Thanks for the upload.

One of my all time favourite arcade games. So many coins sunk into this baby.
Brought back some great times playing this awesome game with my kid brother when we were kids. Great video
I have made it to the end several times and never got the good ending...so this was nice to see. Thank you for this playthrough!

Played this in arcade in San Rafael totally immersive you didnt just play it you lived it

Taito’s answer to Aliens.
Some publications said that it compares to Aliens.
@@fransuke12 It was even mentioned in High Score Girl, when Haruo said it reminded him of that movie.
Just put this on my laptop it's still a fave of mine all these years later
Loved playing this game on taito legends on my ps2, when I was younger
Absolutely loved this game
I can't believe how much Aliens ripped off this game.
James Cameron is a hack he owes them like 50 million $$
😁

It's mostly more on elements of Aliens especially that sort of personnel carrier in 13:32
@@fransuke12 “Operation Wolf” meets “Aliens” pretty much.

Awesome stuff.

I wish they had made a sequal. I wonder if shooting off the limbs inspired necromorphs in dead space
Great job! Cutting it rather close in the final battle, though.
are you supposed to shoot certain walls/boxes to discover all the hostages? Or is it based on what direction you choose at certain points?
As I recall, the wall boxes just contain ammo for the special weapons. You DO find varying numbers of hostages on the different routes through the levels.
Great shooter, it was challenging using the foot pedals in the arcade version. It was a great touch and it definitely caught the Alien movie vibe.

I totally forgot about this game! I spent so many quarters on it growing up! I certainly didn't get as far as beating it!
I'm guessing this is a prequel to Space Invaders.
Minehead Butlins 1990s. Loved it!
I was always scared shirtless playing this game
So the saucers are presumably built and piloted by the clawing, predatory, nest building, egg laying xenos? Well done them.
Or the other way around...

The "real" ending is just as bad as not rescuing enough survivors.
I would like it to be like House of the Dead or Virtua Cop 2 that we can save the innocent even if it stresses us out.
ich hoffe davon kommt ein remake raus würde mich freuen

The shuttle is literally an R-Type ship :D
The original R-Type ship wasn't exactly an original creation either
Holy... That's only 16 years from now! Hop to it, Elon!
페달시스템이 있어 후진되는 게임이었나요???
Strike n blast off the true evil.
This could be Doom or Dead Space in the 1990s arcade.
How do you prevent them from hitting you?
I am baby in 1990
