Your right. For first time it happened to me and now I'm 1 yr 4 months living in a crappy hotel for 2400 a month. Jan 28th we had a fire so in 2 min in cold Mn winter my 3 sons and I list everything. My oldest was burned 48% of his body(2nd and 3rd degree) and about a week or 2 later covid hit. So now paying that much for a room and $900 in storage fees who can come up with damage deposit,1st months rent and u-haul or moving help at same time paying hotel, storage fees, food, gas etc? It's worse time of my life. I'm not in severe depression which is not good being a single mom who they depend on me( I have no family) both my parents were only children so I never had aunts, uncle's or cousins and now both my parents are gone so literally no family. I try to have hope and faith but it's soooo hard. I can tell you this I've never had depression until now and never had suicidal thoughts daily until now. There's so many more stories out here. People look down on ppl like me now and all from a fire.
Well done! Any of us, anywhere in the world, who still have job stability should feel SO lucky. I hope if you can help, you do. Greetings from Canada🇨🇦

You said that right. 14 months homeless in hotel from losing everything from fire 🔥. Then covid hit. They say there's help out there but noone has helped me and my 3 kids.
In California I’ve met homeless people who are employed and highly educated. It can happen because of lack of health insurance and medical bills, loss of transportation, divorce, and the high prices due to state taxes and regulations. I was lucky to rent a bedroom for $800.00 a month. In California you are not allowed to hand out food because of health and safety regulations. The panhandlers, however, raised red flags. They were too organized and way too aggressive.
Had a conversation with somebody about the homeless and how they were relieving themselves on the sidewalk. Looked them in the eye and said they likely didn’t have a choice. The folks who sieged the capitol building did and yet they took their feces and smeared it everywhere. It’s really hard for folks who end up homeless to get out of that situation. The video is informative although it was sad to see these young people in that situation.
He mentioned police and no compassion for homeless - when I was homeless with children there was no shelter vacancy and we had to carry our suitcases in a grocery basket. I was not smoking or drinking alcohol and did not have a gun and stopped ( during the day at a public park) to let my child age four sit in shade and rest after walking all day and eat a peanut butter sandwich. Police immediately arrived and told us we had to leave the park. ( They would not even let my child sit down.) Even if you were a shelter resident you were locked out of the shelter every day and only permitted entry for night shelter. I developed skin cancer.
I try so hard to not become homeless again but I know pretty soon I will be. My whole paycheck was garnished by the county for a property tax of a car that I don't have since 2014. Last December 29 my boss handed me a letter from the county for the same car in the amount of $2,663. It never ends.
Can you find a church to help you? At least they can find someone to give you advice, It has been 7 years since you had that car, why are they trying to get money from you now?

In America i believe that there is enough money/wealth That no one should be without food,a home, and health insurance.these 3 things are the basic things someone needs to survive to live to be safe.If the people in power in washington have great paying jobs and live a high on the hog life style off tax payer dallors just like it cost what $200,000 for the president to fly on air force 1 then there is enough money resources for the goverment to provide a home health insurance and enough food for low income disabiled, elderly, children in this country. If they cant help give those things to the ones in this country that need it they need to stop sending the money to other countries to help them until they help there own.if you work or dont you still are a tax payer.Everything you buy you pay taxes on so everyone pays taxes regardless.I am just so fed up with our goverment that we vote into office to help and once they win they end up doing nothing for change where change is needed once elected they turn and put all there time and effort into all the wrong stuff. We need more being done to help pass laws and get more assistance money for housing, food etc.they give out big tax breaks to the rich and cant even give struggling americans more stimulus and help during covid the rebublicans want to claim there is no money to help struggling americans they say its not needed etc etc mean while they just pass laws to give to the rich at the expense of the midfle class and poor. These politicians give big tax breaks only to fill there own pockets because those are the ones who support them and give them big donations to help them get re-elected.The more wealthy you are the more wealth they want its an Addiction to wealth knowing they have way more money then they can even spend in there life and you cant take it with you when you die thats why i say no one should be without food a roof over there head and health insurance.the rich should soften there hearts and let the greed go and use some of there wealth to help the less fortunate. I would like to add that it does not help that the goverment has not raised federal minimum wage since what 2007 or 2009 but they raised there own pay senators back in 2007 made $165,200 today they make $174,000 a year.there pay has incresed every year our tax dallors go to pay these people and they lower raxes for the rich give them big tax breaks they dont worry about increses of minimum wages incresing to keep up with inflation cost of living for the poor that shows really what is top priority to the ones in power.Dont get me wrong there are a handful of good ones in the house and Senate but not enough to get whats important and moral and right to pass into law for there to be change in this country to many crooks out vote them.its so sad and i truely believe thats why war against our goverment is already happening the big one is near.the peoples voices are not being heard and we the people have been fed up and want change.
You are so right. The rich is in their own world and actually don't give a fuck about anyone but them. Laws are in their favor...and just like any addiction, they are addicted to money and power... I don't see it stopping until, just like the movie, " Bug's Life" the ants revolt against the grasshoppers, that keep them slaves. Until enough of us has had enough, nothing will change, sadly.
Depends on what experience you have, and a lot of companies won't hire the homeless because they know or find out that a person is homeless and they fire them.
I'm sure some people, depending on if they were self-employed or whatnot were out of work and out of money because of COVID. Some people might have been making $20-30 an hour, couldn't work, weren't eligible for unemployment, and not wanting to take a job that only pays $12 an hour. It's understandable on one level. Homeless because of COVID. However, most people I know who were out of work made enough on unemployment+ that they were financially no worse off, some even better. Crazy that there are more jobs than people looking for them, granted they're mediocre jobs. I think some people just won't take certain jobs if they are used to a different line of work. Not that taking a $14.00 an hour job in a fast food restaurant is going to get you back into a home once you've lost everything. When it all first started, some people who were out of work could have went to work in retail or grocery before they lost their homes, but they looked down on those jobs. Not saying that was this man's situation, but some people were complaining about being out of work, meanwhile I was working in a grocery store and never lost my home, plenty of open positions, but nobody wanted to apply for them. Or people would start and quit after two days. I've actually had people tell me they could never lower themselves to take the sort of job I'm doing, even though they were unemployed, they'd rather wait until they can get the kind of job they are accustomed to - because they have a college degree. As if I don't. Be humble enough to do the work that's available and not what you necessarily think is a job that's good enough for you. Like I said, I don't know this man's situation, or that taking a job once you're homeless will get you back on your feet, but there are people out-of-work who do look down on those who work in the service industry because they think it's beneath them. He said that he used to look down on people who were homeless, and it's good that this has humbled him. Could he have looked down on people who work in the service industry? Possibly.
Sad days we are leaving in. I saw in television that in USA you have the possibility for couponing. I'm from Europe, and I ask if it's not possibility for all the people who lost their home for couponing. Maybe that safe them from hunger. There are so many rich people in the USA and they are not capable or willing to build free homes for the people. I wish all those people all the best 😊
He admitted to his inability to adapt when the jobs he has worked was gone after covid-19 hit. People, there are thousands of jobs put there, programs to help homeless and assistance. A lot of homeless people have a history of poor coping skills and traumatic childhoods which has led them to addiction. Addiction is one reason why people stay homeless and they get caught in a cycle where they can't get out of their situation because of their addiction's. We need to help people find a way to cope without drugs and alcohol. Then we can help end homelessness. And some people actually choose to be homeless so we can't help all of them. I had a cousin who ran away from home because she didn't feel loved, some mental abuse but she ended up on skid row. Come from a wealthy family but her childhood trauma was too much and she ended up drug addicted and using alcohol to cope. She lived like that for about 12 years and finally got herself cleaned up and became an EMS, and had her own apartment. Sadly, she died of a heart attack a few years later from the stress of her choice's. It boils down to choice's for a majority of these people. I get depression, self loathing and isolation, but we can't stay in those states of mind. We need to take a chance on ourselves and believe we can make anything possible. A lot of these people actually turn down assistance because they know they won't be able to get their drugs or be able to drink their alcohol in the facilities or temporary housing. Again, a vicious cycle of self perpetrated destruction. Considering our population is almost 350 million people and just over half million are homeless, says a lot about our country. Poverty is a fact, but it's also a choice. Sometimes it's because of our loyalty to family and not wanting to try new things and expand our lives too. Family can be toxic, friends can be toxic and environments can be toxic. We need to get away from those people as soon as possible. Another big reason for addiction of any kind whether it be drugs, alcohol, food, consumerism etc is because of the people we are around. We think if our parents are addicted that it's hereditary or it's predisposed to be like our family, but we can choose to break those cycles and create any life we want, you just have to want it more than your loyalty to toxic people.
You are under the assumption human beings are capable of saving themselves from being lost in life. We can't. No one can. Especially if no one is in your corner. We are social creatures. We need communities, tribes, friends, mentors, family, and partners to survive in this world. You really don't seem to view these people as humans. Given your heartless judgements. Get off your high horse and attempt to hear their stories before you start making assumptions about who they are and why they are where they are.
Sucks that they currently connect race to this, unashamedly. Two totally different things, but it's "and" in current outcries--that give more political hurdles to overcome, with any attempt to bring this issue to a managed point.

Addiction to wealth knowing they have way more money then they can even spend in there life and you cant take it with you when you die thats why i say no one should be without food a roof over there head and health insurance.the rich should soften there hearts and let the greed go and use some of there wealth to help the less fortunate.
Left = right
You are so right.
Great job John!
This guy is amazingly articulate and intelligent...I say he run 🏃♂️ for President 4real!!!!
He can work yes but I know its so hard 😫 to catch up when u lose your job through no fault of your own.
I lost my job BC of covid...but I was able to find 3 jobs...and chose the one I want. I don't understand how people aren't able to find ANY work.
And I live in Northern Virginia BTW...right outside of DC
Depends on what experience you have, and a lot of companies won't hire the homeless because they know or find out that a person is homeless and they fire them.
If you live on the street and have no address that's one reason.
@@fresh87best94 come on you cant use a friends address or lie how are they gonna know I've done it for different reasons
Wow you can get your laundry done for you and take showers, get free food and name brand clothing in DC!
I'm sure there are so many hidden homeless 🙄 feeling so like a failure, and they did everything right. They worked and never where able to catch up.
He is for real
Oh i would be so scared if i was a 🏡 less 👩! At 🌃.. Out with the creepy, disrespectful sexual demons!
Who is this guy,!? What's his name??! Heon point!
Sucks that they currently connect race to this, unashamedly. Two totally different things, but it's "and" in current outcries--that give more political hurdles to overcome, with any attempt to bring this issue to a managed point.
You should do it again
Never give up kids.. as long as were alive there 's a hope.. believe in god... he is merceful.. just be careful out there.. with your wife if kids if any..
A great interview. I hope in one small way you can help the homeless people to make a difference. They can only do enough. The more suffering we have the more we see the meaning of life.
Brenda?
Damn and during this covid homeless have increased. I looked 23 year old girl in ER that homeless and thought that could be me but i work 2 jobs just to keep up
START BUYING A VEHICLE/CAMPER!! & CAMP GROUNDS !!
He mentioned incarceration corruption. I was incarcerated due to spouse tried to kill my child- age ten. He also assaulted me and result I was in a wheelchair for a year. I divorced abusive spouse. With a felony I could not get work for seven years. He mentioned private prisons. Mafia paid them to detain me and I was abused/starved for two months. All I could do was crawl I was so starved by the prison.
No one should be homeless in America.
It's so cliché to write this, but we are millions and millions to be one paycheck away from homelessness.
The guy is ranting and raving!
(💎/💎) CAPTIVATING! Thank you both for sharing your time and deductive reasoning. 👏 🌹 🏆
We are lucky in the UK. Lose your job and you get housing benefit and money every two weeks to live in. That's if you have a home that is.
I would love to her
I would like to her
I would like to 🤗 her
yes you are. But only the english people can get that benefits now, not the immigrants from other countries because of the BREXIT
@@nicspa1 Why should an immigrant get something they've never paid into? They can always go home 😉
And to think there's no homelessness in North Korea... Ouch! Who would've thought?
The North Koreans are starving - hust ask a person who was able to escape that hell whole!
@@sierrachoco5271 That is perpetuated lie. For decades children like you have believed and repeated that mantra. I suppose Ghaddafi was the devil himself right? When in fact Libyans when Ghaddafi had a better life than most Americans. North Koreans are not starving. In fact they are much better nurtured than Americans. Ask any Californian who was able to escape it about that hell whole...

Very good interview. The masks are bothersome - not your fault. I refuse to wear one because it's laying down freedom I don't want to give up. I like to breathe!!
Factual info but make sure to say more than that or you'll be labeled a snowflake by the snowflakes... mention how the twats with their megayachts are telling us we will own nothing and eat bugs by 2030.. and be happy -World economic forum
My life partner went through all of Covid never wearing a mask. He is 100% representing freedom.
Not true New York has so much shelters and help for homeless that's not true I think you want to be homeless you could get a job there are jobs
A lot of shelters and soup kitchens were closed down during Covid, could have been why he wasn't finding any.
Let's say ,,, people in general don't give a shit
I think Alex is comfortable with his homelessness, if not "content". I would have liked to hear expressions of gratitude for all the resources to support the life style, and his plans and vision to again be a contributing member of society.
Why not go home to his parents instead of risking it on the street?
Maybe his parents are dead. Maybe their a*sholes.
My parents live in a retirement community, 55 and older only allowed to live there, and their place is small. Not everyone has rich parents with big empty houses.
Shame on the us for allowing this to happen

You can tell this guy is new to the street. People on the street rip you off, steal your stuff take advantage of you. I don't call that a sense of community...like to see this guy's take after a couple more years on the street...👎
clean jacket, clear skin, good haircut
Shame this went political, it was a good interview before that.
WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS TO TAKE CARE OF ALL THE PEOPLES, NOT JUST THE SAME POLITICAL FOOTBALL OF THE BLACKS PEOPLES THAT MATTER, WHAT ABOUT ALL, THE 191 OTHER NATIONALITIES EVERY WHERE IN OUR LAND, AND AROUND OUR ONE WORLD,WE ALL CAME FROM OUR SAME PARENTS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF OUR TIME
The Republicans got us here and you fools would still vote for Tump-Black comment...NULL!
You couldn’t share some of that food with other homeless people? What about this doesn’t make sense to me ?
This guy is definitely not telling the truth. In just 10 mins he’s contracted himself somewhat@ least 6 times and his math and logistics just don’t add up. Didn’t catch it ? Listen to him again . More going on here then he’s letting on . I don’t personally believe he’s homeless but acts the part to obtain donations and whatever $ they are lucky enough to be given while banking their own$. I bet at the end of the day he slinks back home and has a nice chuckle with his “wife” . The interviewer however is awesome. I liked him . Keep up the good work sir .
