Humble Dillon saying “hats off to myself”? Totally checks out 😂😂
Y’all are smokin’. I love this release. I think they finally nailed it compared to the two 10 years, though I prefer the more recent 10 year to last year’s release.
I appreciate the fact that you all are not afraid to have a different take than the bourbon drinking public, but you all are out of step with my bourbon group and the bourbon tubes on this one. Too tannic? Avoid drinking the oak water. I would not mention this in the same breath with EC18, but to each his own…
I only got a sample of this from a friend but I agree this is far from over oaked. I thought it was delicious. Oak wasn’t even the predominant note I got.
Good and fair review....I am not chasing it=)...Thx fellas
i was lucky to get one yesterday in WA state. Total Wine had a limited number. I think the 12 is amazing.
Do you guys find that tasting and nosing outdoors changes anything? For me I don’t like doing it outdoors seems more muted and harder to get things out of a drink. So I usually drink cheaper stuff outdoors. 🤷🏻♂️
Dillon: "Super Humble Dillon"
Also Dillon: "I speak for a very, very narrow demographic - probably 5 people in the world that just want good stuff."
Love it. I would just suggest throwing up the graphic of the initial scores even if you missed saying it.
Great stuff as always guys!
I need to ask cause I have no idea wtf it is, but what is a circle of self pleasure?
heh - that is Dillon's way of referring to whiskey influencer circles - one person hypes a bottle, everyone ends up hyping it, etc...
@@CuriosityPublic 💀💀💀💀
Great review guys.
Wow. We have opposite pallets! Yikes! This is a whiskey of the year for me. Imho, it’s a Coy hill Jr with much more finesse. Regardless, I always enjoy your banter. Thank You.
If you enjoyed the JD12, you need to track down a bottle of this years Michter's 10. Its a more delicious and refined version of the JD12.
@@LongOdds I am hunting that really hard, I don’t want to pay $350 for it though. I have a trip planned to Kentucky. I’m hoping I can do better there. If not, I’ll get a pour. Thanks!
The pours continue to be the best part of your vids.
Spotted it for $529 at a local specialty liquor store here in central Illinois....
Ok, I had to stop the video when I saw the disclaimer about the initial scores; came here to say.......Amateurs!
Back to the video.
La vacación tropicano ! Feliz feliz-o ! 👌👌
I’ll never agree with Dutch evaluating value based purely on stats vs enjoyment. Who cares if it’s 12 years. If it’s a 6 on drinkability and $90, then it’s not a 4.
14:27 My man Jules looks faded 😂
Maybe it was the outdoors but this bottle is a top tier winner maybe some bottle variance or something
I was lucky to pick up the Jack Daniel’s 10 Year, but have not seen the JD 12 Year, except on secondary. If I find it at a reasonable price, I will pick it up, but not chasing it. 🥃
Is aroma difficult to judge with the wind? At least for subtle aromas.
EC18 definitely isn't over oaked. Maybe the JD12 is for me.
Also, am I the only one who has no idea wtf Dillon is talking about when he brings the "circle of pleasure" into the conversation? Dillon seriously speaking his own improvised language over here.
There has been a lot of variance with the EC18 (single barrel obviously). Apparently more recent batches have been more tame with the oak.
@@CuriosityPublic Tastes like berries to me. 🤷
EC18 is easily one of the most over oak bottles out there
He’s talking about whiskey UA-camrs, since Dutch does Matt Madness with them. Not that deep haha.
Awesome video
19:27 👌🏼🤣💪🏼😂👍🏼
You guys should compare cimarron repo to Arette repo
I will probably buy this if I see it at MSRP.
This scored the same as the 10
Hawaiian music in Costa Rica? 😂
There's gotta be a few Hawaiians living in CR. Don Ho built a house in CR. (OK, I totally just made that up)
Just picked up the 10 for 80 in Chicago. Plan to crack it tonight. Great reviews gents
I do ❤ EC18 and I do like JD12. Great JD episodes gents.
Bought a couple of these just to flip in 20 years, and now I don't feel bad at all about it. Batch 1 only 36k bottles available going to be a collectors item. Meanwhile I'll enjoy the single barrel barrel proofs to fill my JD itch.
Thank you for the 10yr and 12yr reviews. I do have several Jack Daniel’s products in my bunker. Personally I wouldn’t spend over $100 MSRP for any Jack Daniel’s products. That’s just me thought. 😬
Is this Batch 1 or 2?
I agree with you guys most of the time but there is no way JD12 is anywhere near over Oakes! But I’ll forgive you. Cheers
Glad you killed it on value. My Dad never got over going from fifths of a gallon to 750 ml which was only a 7 ml reduction. He was convinced it was a communist plot out to get the drinking man. He would be rolling over in his grave at losing 50 ml! Fortunately he was never a JD fan. Our first major row over whiskey was when I called JD bourbon. You'd have thought I'd said FDR was a great president. Boom.
Based on your review I'll stick with the BP SiB JD. I can get them anywhere and they are usually great. By the way, the audio sucked.
I don’t believe that they are changing their mash bill it’s pretty much the same across the board with Daniels. Maybe a bad bottle on the ten or it got hot somewhere. But every bottle is the same mash bill.
Great review.
“Balance is bad, they screwed it up, 6”.
Bad is 3-4. Not 6. Lol
Completely disagree. But that’s the great thing about opinions, you’re never wrong! Ik that I agree with y’all with scotch, but not bourbon 9 times outta 10 haha.
Just throwing out an opinion. There are not enough high quality barrels produced to meet the high end needs of the explosion of bourbon drinkers. There are now way more buyers than actual bourbon drinkers. So sellers are cherry picking products to market with limited stock. Which will then never be reproduced at higher volumes of production. So that you can then sell your older not so great older barrels at a higher price point based on accurate (at that time) reviews like yours. Hopefully, there will be an increase in production from new distillers over time, but in the interim, there will be a decrease in quality at a higher price point. I doubt you will ever see a 10 and 12 year product at this MRSP again. Which was the play from the beginning.
This exactly
no front end, fruit from oak. also guys right. cant drink outdoors
Have to disagree with you guys on this one. JD12 is awesome. Im lucky I got 2 bottles at MSRP.
