Thank you, happy to help. I have another video with spring balances if you havent finished already 👍 ua-cam.com/video/MwYnrVDDKzQ/v-deo.htmlsi=Y-k62ONzICRAluOd
I was getting ready to order that special tool or try to find it... When I looked in my toolbox and I had a little forage long orange screwdriver with a pic on the end of it curved... It worked. Perfect to touch in the rod and then put it in place and then get out of it. Didn't even have to buy the tool. :)
Great job. Have two balances that somehow released from the window and used your video to remove and potentially reuse. The tool is key to this repair/replacement. Tried with needle-nose pliers, dentist type pick and to no avail. Good, simple and to the point video...Thanks!
I especially like how you said to have patience, which I have none, so I had a few adult beverages first. That provided me enough patience to get through it, lol!
Thanks! A window shop should be able to get you some. Either that or remove old ones and buy new ones online. I think I got some thru Swisco online before
Nice. Never done it, didn't want to break anything. I understand the assembly and adjuster mechanism now. Remove to replace like for like. Good work on the video.
No sorry, each window is a little different and not all even allow you to remove bottom. Only in last 20ish years have those become a thing really. Search "how to remove bottom window sash" and see if can find a similar window. If it is a removable window it's a simple process usually pull up window holding button and tilt back
@@GaryH-k9u thanks, I'm not really too sure. That one may have needed to unscrew and take apart in pieces. I know a lot of newer ones nowadays you can take apart, they're all glued together. So you have to pry them apart and out
Do i have to replace these if my window wont stay up or down? I jeep seeing people mentioning a shoe that needs to be adjusted as a fix, but would that work with this style?
I have a video I need to release where I did exactly that. I heated up the glue around the glass pane with heat gun (could use small torch or hair dryer too) and pushed it out from inside. Then got replacement glass cut at local glass shop and put a bead of silicone around opening then placed glass on top of that. Then another bead around it and that was it 👍
Depends on window. Some the sliding part can be removed. Some not. If not or on fixed part you'll have to remove glass with it in wall. Use a heat gun to loosen glue or glazing and push out 👍

Sorry to hear about the finger. Hope it heals quickly and window gets fixed too 🙏

@@gandl2123Nice! That's awesome, glad you got it done and didn't have to get another tool 👍 I always enjoy making a tool too

You're welcome, happy I could help you out 👍 yeah that little tool is the only way to go with these things.

Lol awesome, that'll definitely help a bit! 🍻
Excellent video. The job looks easy. The problem is finding a place that sells a spiral window balance.

Online sells any type of balance you could ever imagine.

Best video on the topic out there!!
Thank you! Glad to help 🙌👍
That's awesome i didn't know you could change those 😀 we have a couple windows that need this done.
Yeah they're pretty cool how they work and relatively easy to change/service 👍
Thank you for this video! Do you have a video on how to remove the bottom half of the window? I need to replace the glass.

I like the video. I have a question. How do you remove the sash from that type of window. Thanks

what do you recommend for a balance shoe? Might as well replace everything if I'm doing it
Excellent video, thank you.
@@Leylandman1 Thanks! And you're very welcome, happy I could help 👍
How did you determine the old balance was broken as you were removing it? I wish I knew what is inside the tube. Is there a spring inside?
Most of them were all bent and damaged. It's a spiral piece of metal on these type ones that create the tension 👍
Very good channel! Can you tell me where I can get these Spiral window balance? Thank you very much!
I got them on Swisco . com 👍 take your time determining which ones you need. They're helpful with questions too
Thank you & have a nice weekend!@@JonnyDIY

@@Breeski1 if they're busted like mine were they need replacing. You can adjust tension as I showed by pulling down and winding them as I showed 👍

My top window panel won't saty up. I have to push it up to lock it in place so it won't fall down. How can I fix that
Depends on the kind of balances it uses. I have another video showing a different type here

@@pervezahsan1 thank you! 🙌👍
But my windows are so old replacement parts are no longer available. Isn't there a hack?
@@StevenLewis-u1j you should still be able to source parts no matter how old they are 👍the only hack I know is the stick propping up the window 😆

Put a piece of wood underneath to hold the window up! Red neck tip:232
