Damn. I adore this song. It makes me feel nostalgia. Not the joyful kind. Not the bittersweet kind. Solely the painful. The desperate longing to have things the way they were, even though you know you can never go back. The type of nostalgia that makes you feel like you want to go “home” even though you haven’t had a “home” in a long while. A part of you is missing and you don’t know if you’ll have to live with its absence or it may gracefully return someday. All that’s left is longing.
Man, this is so beautiful. By listening to this, i feel pretty nostalgic, recalling all the good memories with my family and friends. You're doing amazingly!
Around 2min is my favorite for the visuals, this video is more than excellent
for everyone wondering, with the middle finger in the 2nd fret of the 4th string, the ring finger in the 2nd fret of the 3rd and the pinky in the 3rd fret of the 2nd you can play it, you have to play some open strings ofc but those are the placements

This guitar version really encapsulates the feeling of limerence on a summers evening while viewing an unobstructed sunset. Just takes me back to a time anywhere around 2012-2014, before I had xbox live, when I was 7-9 years old, on summer break watching Markiplier's drunk minecraft and unknowingly enjoying the life of no responsibilities.

I've been on youtube since it began but never really participated in the comments because I believe if you dont have something valuable or original to say you should say nothing at all instead of adding to the noise.
But man I gotta sign in to comment here. All i can say is wow, this is tremendous , truly soul achingly beautiful. I guess I'm particularly struck because I was listening to instrumental versions of this song and slowed versions so it really got me in a wistful and pensive mood. Then I come across this varient which adds so much to the original chords that yves had written, and you did this just for some fun and mental exercise.
You've created something so peaceful, but also with a longing melancholy to it aswell. Really speaks to me. Thank you for sharing your talent and artistry Donnie.

I shared a brief moment in time with a guy I really liked and cared for, it was something that lasted just a couple of weeks. His life was a mess then, mine was okay. I sometimes remember that night when me made love and while I was inside him our eyes looked deeply into each other’s for a second that lasted centuries. “Promise me you’ll wait for me”… that’s what he said. And that’s what I did after he left. I realized he wasn’t coming back some months later. It’s been more than a year and sometimes I see he uploads something new to Instagram. I don’t love him anymore, but I wonder if he ever thinks of that night. And if he does, if that’s a memory he’ll cherish when he becomes an old old man.

The whole song is only two chords, going back and forth. There are lots of notes sprinkled in there, but if I had to give you the chords in a simple way I would say Dbmaj7 and Eb6.
