- This is one cute little buggy! And in good condition too. In this video I do what I consider to be an essential upgrade; swapping out the old FM Radio system to a more reliable 2.4ghz Radio. With the receivers only costing £4 from Hobbyking, I don't see any reason not to!

Morning Everybody! Since the editing of this video it has transpired that this car is a Reely Rex X Rather than the XTM X Terminator. Both cars are very similar though!

Hi there :) Thank you! I'm enjoying it again. Well, I was using Optifuel 25%. Now I'm using a new brand called "Hot Fire Buggy" 25% ... Smells lovely when it burns !

@@mariolooney70 Yeah that's what I've used for years, just wanted to see what else was around. I used to love Tornado Fuel, but then that no longer exists. Then I got to really like "Monster Green Nitro Juice" and then that disappeared too :(

Sounds healthy,if I've ever had a problem with a nitro car that's been stood it's been caused by perished rubber seals in the carb or end cap,but as you know,there isn't much too go wrong otherwise.✌👍
It does! I'm getting to like Force engines. Yes I find the fuel tank lid seal is often perished on an older nitro :)
I respect what you are doing. I have nitro cars that haven't run in well over 20 years. Any one of them will start right up. Put on a new air filter and fuel it up. Storing it with a clean tank is always smart. My big "secret" is to use a good after run oil, then I store the car wrapped in Saran Wrap after a full and proper cleaning. Never had a car that would not start right up. Every now and then an engine will get a bit stiff. Simply take the engine apart and clean/lube it well. You got a great deal . Nicely done video. Started right up! That car is good for a lot of future runs man.
I've never had one that hasn't started after storage either, this one started easier than some other cars I've had out of the box 😂 People seem to enjoy watching these kind of videos. Bashing videos of this one coming soon

TheRCBiker Haha, unfortunately that is an issue with older platforms, however I’m sure you can find compatible parts for it - the buggy platform hasn’t changed that much really as you said. Enjoy matey 🤝🔥⛽️🚀💥

Of course she started right up! That's a force .21 engine ..they had those in hpi, ofna, and a few other brands for years ...I run one in my Hpi Hellfire ...more mid-range power than most the cheap RTR .28 engines they put out now ...
Yeah I like Force engines... It's not a 21, it's a 25 :) Got a Force 36 going into my Ansmann Terrier !
Hey thanks for the reply and to answer your question it is blowing the flywheel inside the transmission that grabs or what not when the slipper clutch is engaged. And my main question is I've never been able to get it to tune right I almost always needed to run it with the low speed almost always closed is this because the clutch has probably almost always been bad. I did get it to do 33.24 mph tho.

I thought it was an XTM Xterminator. I had one a long time ago. It was my second favorite car next to my Hyper7. Car was a tank and handled very good. Memories lol. Good video keep em coming.
I thought it was when I first got it as well, but my UA-cam fans soon corrected me! There are some subtle differences but they look very similar
@@TheRCBiker they do look almost identical. Had me fooled. Id never heard of this one. Wonder if both cars were made at the same factory and juat rebadged. Happens alot in this hobby.
It will start if it has good compression fuel and good glow from glow plug

I use Bryon race fuel 20 it is very good with pull start and bump but I am not the biggest fan of pull start I am kinda a bump start
Great video. Did that start with no heat on the header started very easy.
Yes I didn't preheat this one. In fact, I very rarely pre heat them. Only time I preheat is during break in :)
@@TheRCBiker I've got a novarossi. 21 and everyone says you need to get a heater so easier to start and better on engine. It's my first nitro for 20 yrs! Your video have been very helpful, am about to try and start outside for the first time.
Yeah Novarossi are race spec/high quality engines so you'd be right to preheat it. But for these "bashing" engines it's not quite as necessary :) Have fun!
@@TheRCBiker well it started but was idling high, was just a start up to make sure everything works OK so happy. Do you think it's best to default needle setting to factory and start rich or tune engine as is? it's not new secondhand thinking once up to temp could just tune as I go.keep up the great work very informative 👍

Hey I would love some advice I have redcat nitro 3.5 and it has destroyed 2 transmissions and now the clutch has failed. The transmission is particularly throwning fly wheels so it won't shift to second or it jus strait revs and won't go what am I doing wrong cuz my cars idle fine
Hi Steven. In what way is it destroying the transmission? Is it stripping the gears?
@@TheRCBikerThank you so so much for the response. It is actually the fly wheel burning up. The little metal piece that is behind the slipper clutch that engages the 2 speed. That was 2 of them and now the clutch went like broke the spring. I actually have several videos of it running before the clutch went. Also I'd like to add that I could never get the car to tune right, and from the very start now when i think about it, it always made this screech like metal against metal for tenth of second out the box or 2-3 tanks in when I could drive it.
@@stevenlandis6847 Hi Steven, hmm sounds like a tricky one to diagnose online. It needs someone to take it apart and look at it really to see what's happening. I would take the gearbox out and then compare all the parts to the exploded diagram in your user manual to make sure none are missing. How old is the car? If it's new I would contact Redcat Racing as it is probably under warranty. As I say it's a difficult thing to say what's wrong without seeing it. In regards to the tuning, reset the tuning needles to their factory default settings and then go from there.
I have a nitro star savage 25 motor thats 15y old and still runs.

Hi Tyler, for the SH engine screw the HSN and LSN in until resistance is felt and turn 3 full turns out . Those are the default settings. Idle gap 1.5mm open :) I'd recommend the video I uploaded recently on starting a nitro engine after a long time to help
Just wondered how much you payed for it as I'm looking myself and something like that would be perfect for ..cool video that looks pretty clean for 10 years old lol .
