Exploring The Hottest Place On Earth | Death Valley By E-Bike
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 бер 2022
- Whilst we were in Downieville we could not pass up the opportunity to visit the stunning Death Valley! Luckily when we visited in December, average temperatures were down in the 20's, but this arid landscape was incredible to explore. What better way to do so than by E-bike, taking in the geology and geography of this vast area using just 2 batteries.

For this adventure, we were riding the Cannondale Moterra, a 160mm travel E-MTB with the Bosch CX Performance Motor. Equipped with a 625 watt-hour battery, we would be using 2 of these for the ride, a task made easy by Cannondale's quick and simple battery cover plate.

Great video Steve Ghost Town Living is one of my fav UA-cam channels what a shame you didn't meet Brent Underwood the now owner of Cerro Gordo
I always wanted to go there and I think I just did. Great video and bit of history as well .
Thanks, Eddie! We're so glad that the video made you feel as if you were there! It's a spectacular place! 👊
This was an amazing video and felt like I was on the trip with you. I am on an EMTB trip now in Joshua Tree not far from you. Epic!!!
That's great to see! Cheers for the support! I means a lot to us!
Brill video. Amazing place and such a contrast to the Scottish Highlands!
Yeah, it's a world apart from Scotland! Thanks for the support, Kyle! It means a great deal to us!
Where was Brent? would of been great to see him talk about his town. Would of been cool to see what he thought about the E-Bikes and his UA-cam channel is awesome, its grown over 1mill subs in the last year
You reminded me of something when you grabbed the square nails. In early days when it was time to move, they would burn down their house to get the nails. Nails cost more than the lumber did.
EPIC series from the US guys! You're Welcome back anytime!
Amazing to see a signed book of all who visited the summit😁👍❤️hope you put our stamp on it💪🇬🇧👌
I love your passion and skill in delivering these amazing edits, Steve! I was just in death valley early Feb, hiking off trail near Mount Perry...so amazing
Cool, video! It combines my interest in mountain biking, e bikes, and mining.. it’s a great combination.
Top notch editing. I am infatuated with this stuff now that I'm in my 50s and building ebike conversions out of my wife and mine '96 Raleigh M80 and M60 bikes we bought new when we got married 26 years ago. I'm using bufang chinese mid drives, but we are on a budget and they work for recycling our old MTBs. I have the wife's 750w done and it is great. I gave it a 42 tooth crank and I forget what the cassette granny is, but it is very torquey. Enough for her anyhow. I am using the 1000w and will have that in this week just in time to go for our first ride together next weekend on the Eire canal in western NY. Anyhow...thanks for the great content. I look forward to binge watching the next few days!
Great video, really enjoyed this and shows the value of having an ebike in the stable.
What a place. The descent looks amazing!
It was such a cool descent. Also, the views were amazing! 👊
Omg I love it! I was hoping you were headed up too CG after seeing the Death Valley intro!
Thanks for the support, Bob!
I was NOT expecting that reference to that Welsh dub of Ross Kemp on Gangs. Lol’ed hard
Haha! What a throw back! 😂
What a beautiful but dry baron place on the planet Steve, plenty cream n water,, good luck my friend ❤️😁👍🇬🇧
It's such a beautiful part of the world! Cheers for the support!
Una figata!!!🤩💪💪💪💪
Great vlog!👍🏻
Great ride and some fantastic filming. Love to see you guys in New Zealand some time. You need to look up the Old Ghost road trail on the west coast of the South Island
when your youtube subscriptions collide! Great video
No battery required for the ride back down, what a great little vid Steve 👍👌👊
Now that looks like fun. Cerro Gordo is well up on my places to visit, not considered doing it on an EMTB.......new plans a foot - lol
Have to be there to see the real vastness of this area, its an incredible place to drive thru let alone ride a bike.
It was amazing when we were there, George! It's breathtaking!
Great show guys
Cheers, Chris!
Nice! I once tried to find a steamer that supposedly sunk full of Cerro Gordo bullion at the bottom of now dry Owens Lake only to get mired in quicksand... Good work highlighting the types of eMTB riding available in California and keeping it legal. What was your top speed during the descent?
Finally some Cannondale on your channel
Great film 👌👌👌👍👍👍
Thanks, Jay! Safe Riding!
Stunning landscape ! Riding there surely invokes the desire to strap a Winchester lever-action rifle to the frame of your bike. You know, just in case. 😉
Great video. Very jealous!
Thanks, John! Safe Riding!
Epic ! :)
Wow , you couldn't get more different to your Torridon adventure with Danny Mac .
Man, would have been cool if you’d featured Brent. Awesome video.
Hello, Nice video once again !
At 13'20''
I note the solution put by the cannondale monterra's owner to change the original ratio 34T:
A FSA spider directmount with a 36 teeth SRAM chain ring, that's is curious ...why not use the original chainring Sram X-Sync 2 Eagle Bosch 36T ?
Steel vs aluminium ?
cannondale uses this spider because of their custom "ai offset" technology
So did you do all your batteries ?? Also what was your back pack, interested in double battery capacity
Excellent video
Thanks for the support, Benjamin!
Amazing video
Thanks, Vinny! 👊
Out fricking standing.
Thanks!! 🙌
What no Brent he could have towed you up with the motorbike 🏍 💨💨💨🤣🤣🤣
Looks like foldable solar panels could come in handy at a place like this.
395 is a sweet drive steve
What’s the square top nail thing?
Enjoy this format 😉
What would have been interesting would have been a Bosch battery report pre and post ride, to see battery temperatures, min/max voltages for instance. Lithium (NMC) like all batteries don’t like high temperatures.
Also motor efficiency reduces with heat. Just geeky stuff I like to measure and know…
The critical cell temperature is 60 ° C, from this on the cells start to suffer. Under 60 ° it should be fine, Tesla for example can preheat the battery to 50 ° to increase charging rate (the cooling system will prevent it from getting hotter during fast charging).
Too bad you didnt talk to the owner of Cero on camera. He's a very interesting man with an even more interesting story as to why he bought it. He's doing great things in Cero trying to bring it back to some kind of life.
Chance of 5mm of rain, should of worn the wellies 🤭
XXLnt !
You were just miles away from Mammoth and my home. Why didn’t you call?
Hey come on over we got Saguaro cacti to break your fall.
Bro I have a BUILT $80,000 Lexus GX & it barely makes it out each time I take it to Death Valley. I have no ducking idea how the fuck you do it with an ebike 🤣 I’m impressed
1 word .....VAST....
SO VAST! It looks amazing though!
At 20 degrees you didn't really test the bike in the heat.
"Rawhide " music and your butt??? .Nice Adventure thanks Steve
missed oportunity: you didnt play "spiel mir das lied vom tod"
No thanks. It's in the mid to high seventies outside right now and I'm debating whether to go out or not. I really really dislike hot conditions. I much rather have it cold and layer my clothing.
