      @@theaverageev that’s awesome if I recall you have solar power too? You should do a video on how solar and EVs complement each other.

    Thanks for the video. I've mostly been using the scheduling on my charger to manage when I charge but this seems more useful. Probably could be a separate video but, the myVW has some battery management/charge features as well. Although, I have twice set the Target Charge Level (because road trip) to 100% in the app and woke up to only 80% battery.

    For anyone watching this and still confused as to why you have a schedule and your car is still charging...
    I have solar and want to only charge my ID4 during peak solar producing hours. Despite my attempts to use the schedule I had to make a few tweaks.
    Set your schedule and preferred times then change your "direct to" charging setting to 0 and your "charge to" to your preferred setting. That should disable the car from charging during your off-charging times.

      Is this still working for you? After my first update I can’t seem to get preferred charging times to set or charge
      Direct setting I set to 50 percent should I change it back to zero?

      @@jenniferfletcher2023 I have to change it right before I get out every single time and it’s so annoying. But yes it works.

    Thanks for the informative video. Just got a certified pre owned 2021 id4 pro s. Familiarizing myself with the settings; currently software updated to 3.1.0. Issue I’m having is on my home charging screen it doesn’t display how many miles I charge each hour & the percentage of kilowatts in parenthesis. How can I get it to display that information like yours?!?
    Lastly I currently have my charge set to fill till 60% by default to preserve battery health over time instead of the typical 80% most ppl do; question I have is if having direct charging on to 50% will also negatively impact my battery. Is it worth having on or should I turn it off all together?? I’ll try to be mindful not to let my charge go down to 10% when charging; but will consistently try charging when battery reaches 20% to preserve longevity & health of my battery.

    Thanks for your videos! We have a ChargePoint home charger, and I have the ChargePoint app on my phone, to set the charging schedule. I am having trouble getting our VW ID 4 to charge correctly. I have set the ID 4 car schedule set to exactly match the ChargePoint charging schedule (both start and end times), which is as midnight. But the VW 4 is only charging 11 miles an hour, rather than 31, although we have a 40A ability on the ChargePoint. At one point, it was charging at 31 miles per hour, but now it's not. (We also have a Tesla, and I like to have both cars charge starting at midnight.)

      That is strange... If it is the car, I would just double check to make sure you don't have the reduced charging selected. Other than that I'm not too sure...

    When I got my Kona 2020 I hooked up my own electrical and a friend suggested to “future proof” with a 6/3 wire and 50Amp breaker I am glad I did. Since breaker should only go to 80% load that means I can charger at 40Amp/9.6kWh instead of 32Amp/7.62kWh I originally was planning since Kona could only handle that speed. If needed I can still throw in instead a 60Amp breaker but that would be overkill.
    And yes it’s working fine with a 100Amp panel I only charge at night and been so since 2020.

    Hi we've recently subscribed to your channel and we have this situation. We have an id4 and a godiag 32 amp charger, I'm running it from my 220v outlet. The charger comes on the green light is on at the receptacle on the car, but it reads 0 miles charging per hour. Do you know what I'm doin wrong?

    • @SuperConess
      @SuperConess Рік тому

      Only thing I can think of is what level is your battery and if you have some battery management setting preventing the charge? Not really helpful to you as I don't have your charger. I have the VW charger and will let you know if I run into the same issue when I get the 240v outlet installed.

    Thanks for the great video. Just took delivery on a 2023 ID4 Pro AWD, so I'm a noob. How would a schedule work for winter? I read somewhere that you should always have your car plugged in. Say your car is already at 80% and is plugged it, it wouldn't charge but is our car smart enough to warm the battery so we don't lose range? Hopefully this question makes sense.

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  Рік тому +1

      Great question! I don't know from experience because we have a garage. My understanding is that the ID.4 likes to do its best to keep the battery at an optimal temperature. However, I know if it is cold it severely affects charging performance. This winter I will do an experiment where I leave it out in the cold and test when plugged in and not to see how it affects the battery temperature.
      During winter you can set the climate to be at whatever temperature and have the car at whatever SOC you want. I am not really sure how this will affect range. However if you are on a road-trip in the winter and are charging regularly I would expect relatively normal charge sessions (except maybe the first one) unless the charger is derated. But obviously if it is beyond reasonably cold it could affect charging performance.
      In summary, I am not 100% positive is warms the battery when cold, but will test and make a video!!!

      My car will also be in a garage, but it gets cold here in MN. I'll post back here later in Winter. Immediate next steps for me are to get a 240v outlet 😮.

    Can you also share with me about reducing charging current limitation options? How many choices there are?

  • @byrnedes
    @byrnedes 8 місяців тому +1

    Thanks for the that. It’s not a very user friendly menu. For me, the break through learning was you need to use a schedule (even if not needed) to be able to have a preferred charge time.

    Hello Sir, I put my car on charging at night, but it gets disconnected automatically. It does not get fully charged. In the morning I come and remove the charger and plug it in again. Then it starts charging.

    • @theaverageev
      @theaverageev  7 місяців тому

      Does it charge at all, or does it fail immediately or pretty soon after? Assuming it's not charge settings, it may be that the charge isn't latching properly. Occasionally I'll plug in but it won't be latched properly. It should be a pretty healthy click sound. Let me know and I can think of some other solutions.
