Wow... that death scene gets me every time even when I know it’s coming. What gets me is the fact there is no sad background music like most shows would have at a point like that. Therefore it makes the scene more impactful and extremely hard to watch as every understands death when the world seems to stop yet outside the world continues on. Very well acted scene. And fantastic work by everyone behind the scene to get all viewers with a heart crying at that scene over 20 years after it was made.
My mom died when I was 19. I was the one who found her body. She had cancer and it got her. I remember being numb and thinking "How can this day seem so normal? The best mom ever is dead!" When buffy looked outside I lost it. It reminded me so much of myself
Mine died from cancer when I was 21, I lived in another city and was visiting. I was going to leave to drive back home because I worked the next day and my little sister begged me to stay the night one more night and leave early in the morning instead, so I did. I was woken up at 5am by a family friend and told it was time. I was in shock because I didn’t expect it, I remember me and my sisters sitting with her and talking to her and telling her it was ok to go and we loved her. We were crying, but everything still seemed so quiet. I’ll never forget after she took her last breath, my little sister just letting out the most gut wrenching screams. My brother had just missed her and arrived right after and I’ve never seen him so distraught. After that we waited for them to pick the body up and all kissed her goodbye for the last time. My brain took around 3 years to even process the fact that she was gone and start to accept it. I know that 18 is considered an adult, but you never expect to be completely on your own and without parents at that age, we all had to grow up on our own from that point. Grief is a rollercoaster, it can take years to go through before you can begin to mourn. We never get over it, but learn to live with it and it makes us a stronger and more understanding person. I always say that everything about me changed the day, how I look at things, how I live my life, it shifts your focus to what really matters in the world. Which is compassion and unconditional love.
I know what you mean. I felt like that when my dad died. He was in bed and looked like he was sleeping, he had had a massive heart attack in his sleep. I remember hearing people laughing as they walked past our house, and I thought how dare you laugh when my dad is dead!
I never watched Buffy, but I felt scene with my entire being, especially the way she kept saying Mom. How dare the world keep going when my loved one is gone.
My mom died looking in my eyes. There's something about watching your life givers light turn dark that stays with a person. For joyce...shell never have fruit punch again and I gotta change clothes again 🥰

My only objection would be Criminal Minds, I believe the episode where Hotches wife was killed, or the one where Morgan was captured and tortured had more heart breaking moments.

The Buffy seen was most definitely the most heartbreaking I’ve ever seen! They didn’t close the moment with music to distract, they focused on the actual scene, and what was happening and that made it so real! Buckets of tears!

Criminal Minds had some doozies for sure though. 100 (Haley making Hotch promise to tell Jack what love is and Jack, period) and 200 (JJ realizing the ambush made her miscarry) always mess me up but the moment in the very beginning of Nelson’s Sparrow when Penelope walks in and says are you sure? And I realized where they are and who’s under that sheet in the split second before Hotch said it’s Gideon.....I sobbed
That Veronica Mars one always gets me especially when it continues and Cassidy jumps, his exchange with Logan is sad. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer The Body episode is heartbreaking, the whole thing, but Anya's speech and confusion about death always makes me tear up no matter how many times I watch it. Her reaction always made me more emotional than Buffy or Dawn's weirdly enough. As for Criminal Minds I always thought the episode with Evan Peters was the saddest. How at the end the parents realize their son died the day before all the kids were rescued, it was heartbreaking, their realization that they were so close to getting him back. Evan did that scene so well. Also Morgan's backstory episode is sad too. He's such a rock so seeing him breakdown was hard.
I still cry when I watch the Star Trek: Next Generation episode Skin of Evil and Tasha Yar dies. It's her funeral that gets me the most, particularly what Data says to Picard near the end

She has lived my whole life regretting my birth. I'm a one night stand accident and resulting a marriage for damage control I later was told he is not my real father. You get the picture. She made me the mother I am today. The legacy of hate topped with me. I just hope my daughter will keep me in her mind and heart to go on. So buffy did make me realise how heartbreaking life can be. I loved the show.
That Cassidy scene hurt. Veronica trusted him, hell he made me trust him. I get he went through some shit, him and the others did, but killing a bus full of kids to keep what happened a secret and r*ping veronica to "feel like a man" or erase what happened to him was just not something i fucking expected.

I would add things like NCIS’s The dancing scene in the Medal of Honor episode and a few others scenes (Kate, Jenny, and Ziva). The phone call before Hope’s sacrifice on Legacies. The most heartbreaking scenes in some of my favourite TV shows are where Tara dies on Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 6 episode 19, where Prue dies on Charmed season 3 episode 22, where Fred dies in an episode of Angel must possibly be in season 5, the scene where Xander saves Willow from destroying the world on Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 6 episode 22, where Piper breaks down sobbing in grief when she sees Prue’s grave on Charmed season 4 episode 3 and when Faith is breaking down and having a meltdown after she gets into a fight with Angel on Angel season one episode 18. 😢
One thing I wish more people would do with this scene in particular when clipping it on UA-cam is show the beginning of the credits with the black screen and Buffy saying "mommy" one more time over the darkness.. so impactful, more so than cutting to the beginning of the next episode

One of the things i both hated and loved that they went there to show how death can affect us, especially the slayer. Is Joyce wasn't killed by a vampire or a demon or something Buffy could go fight or get revenge on... it was just a complication from the tumor, an aneurism if I remember right.... That show had some awesome acting over the years.
I love how Buffy's mom died in a normal way. It doesn't matter how kick but awesome you are. Normal everyday bad things can still happen to anyone.
On Bones Sweets and Vincent dying were way worse than Booth getting shot.

The Body was so real.. I was really moved when it first aired. Even so, it hits a lot harder since my parents have died.

One thing I wish more people would do with this scene in particular when clipping it on UA-cam is show the beginning of the credits with the black screen and Buffy saying "mommy" one more time over the darkness.. so impactful, more so than cutting to the beginning of the next episode

One of the things i both hated and loved that they went there to show how death can affect us, especially the slayer. Is Joyce wasn't killed by a vampire or a demon or something Buffy could go fight or get revenge on... it was just a complication from the tumor, an aneurism if I remember right.... That show had some awesome acting over the years.
