Great stuff, Harry! Such a gusty effort. I did my first ever full distance triathlon in September this year in Sweden. The bike course had some nasty climbs at the start and end of the two lap bike course. I had moments where I felt like getting off and I kept telling myself “Harry would push on”. You’ve become my de facto training partner during this past year. I have a young family and training with a tri club just doesn’t fit with my family’s schedule so my “group” rides involve the trainer and watching your videos. Thanks for all the inspiration to keep us pushing on. Also, some of Lydia’s comedic material in this video made me laugh out loud, in particular about the sunglasses!
AG tip: For frame and helmet stickers, stick them to the non-adhesive side of painter's [making] tape. You can then stick them on your frame/helmet (having effective substituted the masking tape for the sticker adhesive) yet easily remove them w/o tearing or leaving residue.
Solid work on the race. Excellent result. I'm inspired by the seat post sticker trick. It even gave me a brainwave that you don't need to peel both sides of the sticker, just one! Mind blown over here.
Great job man! Thanks so much to your team (gf) for filming clips and letting us see some of race day! Great race and class attitude!! Mad respect for racing in the heat, onto the next!
Great job, Harry! Glad you powered through, it truly is about the process and continuing to learn not to quit, even when the body screams at you to do so. Results are great, but they aren't the end-all... Sticking out a hot day and tough conditions is definitely putting money in the bank for the inevitable future races with less than ideal conditions. You'll hit the next one knowing you have been there before and won't waste any energy fretting it. I think you're ramping up to make 2022 an awesome year!!
Thanks so much for this comment! Means so much and is definitely the way I’m thinking. These races are all about learning. Next year I’m going to be a completely different beast
Remember it’s the learning that counts and you know what, where and how to make the steps forward for next year. That bike course looked brutal. Super effort. Onwards to the next one.
Well done Harry. I can imagine how challenging it must have been running in that heat and that type of course. onwards and upwards!! All the best for your next race and thanks for the great content you're putting out!
Nice one Harry. You look gutted but like you said a learning experience and you get to go again in a few weeks. Hope the half pint of beer sorted you out. Best of luck with the next one!
Harry, I genuinely feel happiness from seeing you career flourishing in front of our eyes! Hope that everything goes for the best, and congratulations for the performance! As I said, need to tell us when you come to Portugal so that I can meet up with you in my home town!
Thanks so much for this comment mate! Means so much. I am flying over to Lisbon on the 19th and staying close ish to Cascais until the 29th. Be class to catch up
No way you're doing Portugal? I was going to do the full Ironman there. I've been deferred to next year now. Really looking forward to that video! Well done on Lanzarote! I was following you on the Ironman app. Onwards and upwards from here!
As Much as I enjoy the race week videos, just keep in mind the editing etc will take a toll on your resources. If i were you I'd focus on your recovery and getting to portugal race as fresh and hungry as you can.
Great result Harry By coincidence I was watching a podcast by Peter Attia on blood flow restriction and noticed the tightness of your sleeves and shorts and wondered if the slightest restriction impacted your endurance. Just a thought. Cheers Alan
Hi Harry. Can you give any recommendation for an age group participant: TT bike vs road bike with aerobars for this course? Would TT still be faster given all the climbs (FTP around 4 w/kg)?
Hmmmm, 7th great number, some like that one the best, now as for what you said, cant ask for more then giving it all I can, well, this I strongly disagree, you can ask to feel good, while racing, not like suffering, do believe it can be done, however if you try and go to fast, before you are ready, you take a wrong turn, and eventually, loose your breath and blow up, and not feel good, be careful what you train, my friend, if you train the huff puffy breath, you get really good at it, now if you train, not to loose your breath, then you get really good at that, then when we race, whoever is better trained at not loosing there breath wins, eventually, hence why I plan to win big hawii ironman:) a sprinter can break the rules, and beat the logic, but not a full distance iron man, rules of nature will be dominate,,,,

My sticker trick is ......wrap the seat post in clingfilm first
Great idea
Another seat post sticker hack is wrap one layer of cling film round the seat post then put the sticker on that
Ace idea luke
