Huge congratulations Harry. I’ve been following you since your win at Bowood. All that hard work and application is paying off. Good luck for the rest of the season.👍😊
Great round up, really enjoy the detail you go into and how you feel during the race. For what it’s worth I have thought for a while you should focus on 70.3’s and build into full distance in time, no need to rush the process. Hard to get your head around the paces you race at… inspiring stuff 🎉
Congrats mate 👏 been having the same stomach issues with fuelling - insightful to know the reduction in carbs. Sounds like a jam packed season ahead, best of luck 👍📈
Sounds crazy but I also had gut/stomach issues in May last year in a race. Did a 72hr fast (water, electrolytes, black coffee only) and changed to a lower carb diet after (still gels in racing and hard sessions) with 16:8 intermittent fasting and I haven't had a problem since. I'd definitely look into doing a fast to reset your gut & immune system as it helped me!
Congrats! Great to earn and win and clear had it coming. If you back yourself more, I think more wins will come. Many of your race tactics and choices sounds like a man who's swimming, riding and running scared ("I kept it to kind 3:15/km pace because things are gonna get hard with these hills"......err that's a 1:08 half marathon, aint that your fresh HM pace?). Especially in an ironman, it just matters where you place over the finish line, no sense chasing the front. Play it smart in the paceline of course. My two cents from a guy who's battled from back on the swim in every race ever, just got to believe they'll come back to you and they will. On the up from here!
Savage going! Great to see they fixed the sh*tshow of a bike course from when I raced in 2022 also. Looks like the transition has moved from where it was?
Obviously nowhere near your level, but I had a very similar experience to your regarding carb intake. Did around 60g/hr and drunk to thirst (instead of downing litres of fluid) in my last race. Went from stomach trouble to my best result in a 70.3 ever. Felt incredible. I'm not convinced everyone is built to consume 100g/hr
Great recap. Love the detail. By the way, I'm sure you know of Dan Plews. Have you seen what he has to say about gut absorption of carbs? He doesn't believe the gut actually absorbs carbs in high quantity in a meaningful way.
Bruh those racing gels are almost pure maltodextrin, really bad for your stomach. Might be a cause of your issues, especially if you're using the caffeine ones.
I was worried there wouldn't be any moaning... Mind put to rest in the first 30 seconds 😂👍🤘😎 God I've been following u since the old days, monumental!!! 😄
HUGE KUDOS Harry - and going 3, 2, W!!! We're proud to be on your team

Hey Harry, could you check why the discount code for swissside wheels doesn't work? want to buy myself a fresh set of wheels :))
🎉 BOOOM HARD WORK PAYS OFF
Good shout….think you’ll do well for the time being over the middle distance.
However, think you seriously need some help and luck on the hair cut..😂
Course record next time!
FYI Harry, I dont think there is a pro field in Barcelona

I hope this gives you self confidence and makes you stop making excuses
