You can also replace 1-2 of the whole eggs with egg yolks. This will make the custard richer, but will take longer to set.
Try the recipe: www.ketoconnect.net/keto-custard/
Yummy Recipe, gotta try. I recently made Panna Cotta, its custard like made with unflavored gelatin. Try it.
Preppy Kitchen on UA-cam has a recipe, I used coconut sugar.
Could you replace the heavy cream with full fat coconut milk or coconut cream?
@@TrishTruitt I did that today 1:1 coconut/heavy cream. It was good.
Hello! New to keto and loving your channel! Question: how do you think monk fruit sweetener might work with this recipe?
Little tip: put the ramekins into the oven and then pour in the water. No spills, no burns, better for your health ❤😊
Whisk the eggs prior to adding the cream.
The written recipe says to beat the eggs together with sweetener and vanilla before adding cream.
@@MamguSian makes sense!
But it worked perfectly the way she did it...🤷♀️
Yeah ho
I made this today and it was great, so good. Yummy. I used 1 cup of coconut cream, 1 cup heavy cream plus I added coconut flakes 😋😋😋. My husband loved it. This is a win and it was so easy.
That sounds absolutely perfect. I'm gonna do this! Looove coconut!
Did you do 30 mins in the oven? I was thinking less, I use to steam it instead of putting in the oven, it takes less time and comes out light and smooth
@@sdla690 I did more than 30mins. Maybe 40-50 mins depending on the container size then put it in the fridge. But it’s best the next day in the fridge
Did you add sugar?
@@simonamoldovan3715 I use monk fruit
I made this but used 2.5 c almond milk, 3 yolks, 2 whole eggs, vanilla, 5 T powdered swerve, 30 min, 300 degrees.
AMAZING!!!
thank you fort this, what is the carb count
@@sandrajohnson5624 I'm so glad you responded as I had lost this recipe! My almond milk is 1 carb per cup. The powdered Swerve is 9 carbs per Tablespoon. That's roughly 48 carbs for 4 servings or 12 carbs for 1 serving. However, Maria Emmerich never seems to worry about the carbs from Swerve if I am remembering correctly. But I thought we were supposed to count all carbs. Anyway, Im going to try reducing the Swerve to 4 T. That would change the total carbs to 9 grams.
did it come out in the right texture when u swapped heavy cream for almond milk? and also did u use 2 whole eggs and one yolk or is it 3 different yolks and 2 whole eggs? than you~
@@kiamsp9830 The texture was smooth. In 1 bowl I added 3 different egg yolks and 2 whole eggs. (Originally I used all egg yolks, maybe 6, but I decided to try something easier and it worked!) Whisk together. Add other ingredients. Now I think I poured it into a sauce pot and stirred while heating on stove (low heat) but not for very long. If almond milk comes to a boil it will separate. Don't boil! Then I poured into ramekins. I think it made 5? Gently set ramekins into 13x9 baking dish and fill half way or 2/3 up the side of the ramekins with water. Gently place in oven. Bake 20 min? They might be ready in 15. It's been a while. I also assume my oven temp was probably the same as the recipe that used cream.
Great recipe!! Whisked the eggs, sweetener, and vanilla first then added the heavy cream. I used half of the mixture and mixed the other half with 2 table spoons of unsweetened cocoa powder. Both came out great!
I was wondering about adding chocolate to the recipe. Glad it worked for you!
Great idea chocolate flavor
In England we have solid custard like that in a pie, with a little nutmeg sprinkled on top. Try it, it's a favourite of mine.
We made custard pie in the States too since the frontier days! I was making the pie with my grandma with nutmeg (allergic to cinnamon so we always used nutmeg) when I was a kid back in the 1960's. She said the recipe first came to the family from her great, great grandma, she still had the handwritten original recipe! I liked to add coconut flakes to the mixture also or mushed up bananas but since an adult I eliminate the crust and only make as custard, don't like unnecessary carbohydrate calories like pie crusts.
@@jaym8094 then you'd be making what we call a Manchester tart, which is custard with coconut and banana slices in a pastry. Delicious, but not really keto 😏🙂
I made one yesterday, it’s always nicer the following day 👍🏻
I’ve loved egg custard with nutmeg since I was young. So stinking yummy.
@@jaym8094 could try a bit of coconut and/or banana extract for the flavors
Followed recipe, added a pinch of salt, it took me 55 minutes for it to be browned and firm. I added a keto caramel sauce to cooled custard, delicious! Gonna try adding cocoa powder next, and 3/4 cup swerve, I found it could have been sweeter. But super easy to make. I whisked the eggs first before adding other ingredients.
You can make it Creme Brulee by torching or broiling about a tsp of keto sweetener on top of the prepared and cooled custard.
I have not found that keto sweeteners “ brown “
@@ceregirl5852 I haven't tried it yet but, they say allulose is the closest.
@@ceregirl5852 monkfruit should work!
THere u go.
Nice !
Made this last night. Super easy and delicious! Who would have known eating healthy and staying this way was going to be so easy to do.
I have a product which gonna change your life , i tried it and it s amazing
Calm down..it was just ONE recipe..lol. And it's not easy eating Keto because you get bored easily if you like variety..which Keto doesn't offer beyond a certain point.
Put your pan in the oven first, then pour the water. Crack the oven door and it will cool there there just as easily as on the counter. Saves space, no burns.
I would add ground cardamom to this! I am OBSESSED with cardamom!
Cardamom with everything.
It,s a cool thing. I.have a jar of whole ones. No clue what.to.do. Ha!
@@Warmfireandtea Make chai flavoured everything
YUMMY! I make this exact recipe frequently and always top with fresh grated nutmeg before cooking. Sometimes I add a little cinnamon to the mix. I have made it with coconut cream as well which is SUPER DELICIOUS as Megha would say!
I've been following this recipe for over a year. I make it exactly as the video shows except that I add a tablespoon of rosewater to the mix. If you like Middle Eastern flavor you will love that add.
I’m loving this! Between the Pennsbury T-shirt and the mismatched ramekins, it’s just the authentic Megha I witnessed in my kitchen with Kelsey sooo many times. And yes, she is as terrific as you see her in these videos. Love you :)
😊
I graduated from Pennsbury in ‘98. 😁
I went to Pennsbury in the late 70s
I’ve love the combination of vanilla anise and cardamom...will definitely make!
Cassandra San, how much of those flavors do you put in?
@@ThingsILove2266 I would use 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp Anise and 1/2 tsp cardamom and go from there 😋
My mom used to make custard pie and just before serving, would grate some fresh nutmeg over it - wonderful.
I also was toying around with the idea of matcha flavor... the options are really endless.
I've been incorporating cardamon in a lot of my recipes. Great suggestion.
You can use coconut milk (the can kind, more rich) instead. It would taste like coconut flan.
I make it with coconut milk and a couple bananas. The texture is like pumpkin pie filling. You can omit sweetener, or include, it doesn't need more than a tablespoon or 2. Top w toasted coconut flakes. Nice for breakfast and also warmed up. I use smaller ramekins and get 8 servings...so it's still very low carb even with bananas (2 large or 3 small).
I was wondering about that because I don’t have dairy. Do you think that using just the fat would be good or should the fat and water be mixed together from the can? The kind I get always separates and I make ice cream out of it and only use the fat.
@@audrachristine5044 use the whole thing but blend well. It works just as well as dairy.
@@lisbethbird8268 not very low carb adding bananas. Kind of defeats the purpose.
@@stephbreezy011 well only 5/6 g the way it's portioned (@9 fl.oz). It's really filling. But you're right, I just started doing it this way to give enough sweetness without resorting to no calorie sweeteners, which I can't stand. And it even adds a little protein and fiber and potassium. I had recently been sick and couldn't eat at all, so I didn't worry about it.
Just made the recipe and it passed the wife test she loved it. I made it exactly as described and it was super easy and very good warm and I am sure it will be better tomorrow after it chills a firms up.
I made this today. I cooked it without the water for the first 15mins. Then realised my kettle was hot for a reason. I added the water and cooked for another 15 mins.
Absolutely beautiful! Yum Yum Yum.
Loooove the texture. I added cinnamon to the top 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Since I've been using whites only on my chaffels to cut the egg flavor, I need this recipe to use up my yolk. I love Custard. This is great.
Love flan. Been making keto flan for a year. I had to start portioning in ramekins like she does. If I make in one large glass dish, I would take it to the table...and eat way too much. Can't stop!!
Hi there, just tried a bit modified version:
600 g of 30% fat cream
4 full eggs
150 g erithritol
150 g chocolate flavoured pea protein.
Used 2 custard mugs + a larger pie form. The larger "pie" got a nice crust with soft inner part. Critical mass (aged from 4 to 12 yrs) just love it
Yum!!! Last week I was looking for a keto custard that uses whole eggs. I'm so excited to try it! Thanks!!!!
Alternative- I make this using a protein shake (I use the Costco Premier Protein), 3 eggs, and some cinnamon. Bake for 30 minutes. Yum.
Dawn, how much of the protein do u use? Trying to do more of this substitute lately, so am interested:)
@@catlikedat8705 A whole container which is 11 fl oz.
@@dawnknickerbocker7970 waitaminnit...I was envisioning the dry powder - “11 oz.” I’m thinking is one of their liquid canned drinks maybe? I appreciate your replies!
P.S. just remembered the PP comes in those little cartons:)
@@catlikedat8705 Yes, the liquid canned drinks because, if you use the powder, then it will be lumpy. The pre-mixed protein shakes are not grainy at all so it is nice and smooth.
I would be lost without your channel all my recipes come from here! Thanks keep up the good work! 😍
Lemon zest added would be delicious yum 😋
"Some Vanilla extract": *Adds 1/8 cup* Looks yummy! Thanks for sharing!
Awe now....I'm a pudding/custard loving person! Thank you ever so much.😃❤
Couple of suggestions. Beat thr eggs first then add in the cream. Set your tray and pan on the oven rack then add in the boiling water. One less chance of burning you or anyone else with hot water.
If you want to make this a full on creme caramel/flan, you can make a quick allulose caramel and swirl it around the ramekins before you pour the custard.
Recipe?
Gonna need to tinker with this with lemon extract and a meringue top!
I don't know how common this is in other parts of the world but lemon-myrtle custard would be amazing too. It's really fragrant.
Omg yas!! I wanna try lime. Ohhh I miss nice cold lime pie. 🤤
Omg.. you had me at lemon 🍋
So if your doing a omad can you have this for dessert? I’m wondering if I should wait till I’ve lost the amount of weight before adding in treats?
Ooooh that sounds awesome
I’ve always loved custard, it was one of my pregnancy cravings. Going to mix some up....
Can’t wait for raspberries to get back in season. Thanks for another great recipe!
For Christmas, I got a keto icecream flavored 4 pack. they are vanilla, chocolate, orange sorbet, and mint. I would love to make your custard and maybe try one of the flavors. Orange sounds nice, like a creamsicle flavored custard.
Tip for anyone trying this; open the oven, pull out the rack, place your baking pan on the rack, and then add the hot water
Had the same concern that she was going to pick up that screaming hot brownie pan...
@@rickanderson11 I definitely thought of that instead of carrying it over👍🏽
That's how I do with my cheesecake that cooks in a water bath.
Exactly what I was going to say.
Oven before water is the safest way to go.
WHOA ! Honey, you are REALLY heavy-handed with that vanilla !
Lovely to see you, love to the husband and dog and cat and baby. Glad to see you are enjoying your life.
I just don’t bother with the erythritol, still tastes great.
🤨
yeah, without stevia is doesn't taste like anything...
Honestly, I don't even have a taste for sweeteners on keto. On this diet, I can appreciate the natural flavors of foods more without needing everything to be sweet. Keto sweeteners just taste off-putting to me.
Ya, same here- the heavy cream, whole egg yolks & lots of vanilla & dash of cinnamon..SO delicious! I don't enjoy the sweeteners at all, since eating keto for so long!
Well dairy as it's own natural sugars. If really is the texture that you savour in this dessert
Three Ingredient Keto Custard. Step 1, have four ingredients.
All joking aside I know the vanilla is just flavoring, I actually think I may try this!
Thank you! Thank you ☺️ Creme Brûlée and Portuguese custard cups are my favorite desserts! Anything custard is a win for me! I now have a go to favorite besides peanut butter fudge 😀Subbed on site after seeing this 💕 Also, thank you to all the comment writers for the helpful ideas. Stay blessed and healthy everyone ☀️
Made it with 1/2 tsp of monk fruit extract powder, wowzers!! That stuff is amazing. Pinch of salt and butter too
I made this last week….It’s is bloody awesome. I did prefer it cold, though. Just delicious.
I’ve got another batch in the oven right now, but I had to alter the recipe as I didn’t have enough cream, so I topped it up with unsweetened almond milk, and added an extra egg. I then sprinkled the top with powdered Natvia Gold brown sugar. (Keto friendly). 🤞
I hope it sets, I think it will.
Love this custard recipe….. thank you for sharing 💋💋💋💋💋
Edit: it set, and IMO, tasted better than the full cream version. Keeps well in the fridge for 2 days. It tastes like the custard in bread and butter pudding 😋😋😋
This was so delicious. I made 6 servings and it was perfect. Can’t wait to make variations of this recipe.
Glad you did this! One of my favorites as a kid. Now I can have a better simple version.

How about putting some sweetener on top and browning it for creme brulee.
Exactly what I was thinking!
Yes! I’ve done that before! Be careful using monk fruit though, it caught on fire 😳
Fake sweeteners just don't caramelize like real sugar does. Extremely bitter.
Yup. I put Swerve brown sugar on top of my pressure cooker keto cheesecake. After cooling, the brown sugar (erythritol) 1) leaves a sugary sauce on top like flan, but also 2) crystallizes on top into a crunchy layer. Game-changing addition. ;-)
The only keto sweetener that caramelizes is allulose, which is a sugar that humans can't digest. Because it is an actual sugar, it behaves like regular sugar during cooking.
We made this today after seeing this vedio, it came out very well
I love this recipe. I know they will keep in the fridge for a few days but they never last that long in my house. Delicious . 😊
Wow so glad I caught this recipe! Can't wait to make it!
FLAN! I love all diff types, cream cheese flan is my fave though 🤤
Hi Shirley! I too love flan, do you have a recipe for cream cheese version?
How do you make the cream cheese flan , it sounds wonderful !
So rich and delicious. I sometimes sprinkle a little nutmeg on top or drizzle a bit of sf maple syrup. Everyone loves this! Thank you. ♥️
Just made this and it’s delicious!! I added cinnamon, a little nutmeg and sprinkled unsweetened coconut yum 😋
I made it today as soon as i saw your video i decided to make it straight away. Waiting for it to cool down 😎cannot wait to try it 🙈🙈
Title: 3 Ingredient Keto Custard. Intro: “It is just 4 ingredients “
Because vanilla extract is optional.
Someone call the keto police!
You should try the recipe instead of playing detective
Really?
I have it on good authority that I "am the worst" for pointing out things like that.
I made these and decided after the first time to make 6 instead of 4. Filling and very delish! Thank you!!!
What 😳 I’m soooo sooooooooo sing this tonight thanks 🙏🏻
Just made this, OMG, it was sooooooo delicious. What a great recipe. 😁
Thanks for sharing. 😘💋
Next time take a n ote from Alton Brown. put the pan in the oven then add the hot water~ Or even add a tea towel on the bottom to help with it all
I would carefully pour in the boiling water after I put the pan in the oven on a rack that’s pulled out part way.
My husband says it’s very good.
Add some cauliflower rice for rice type pudding
Since I’m on Keto....this recipe hits the spot....I haven’t had custard for decades, of course that was made with sugar......but I use erythritol frequently and love it.....this was delicious! So easy to make...Thankyou !
Bocha Sweet works very well too!
You guys rock. I'm excited to try this.
I have 2 binders filled with your fabulous recipes and I LOVE my Curve membership! I'm SOOOO make this a FAV! (Currently your Butter Chicken Recipe is my fav!!). Blessings!
I counted 4 ingredients. Looks good
This recipe has a big problem..u cant stop eating it😍😍soooooo yummy
😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Just discovered this channel after watching your sweetener comparisons. Thanks for all the great content guys! My stomach can't seem to handle sweeteners very well but I'd still love to try this.
Hi there! Maybe you can try half the recipe without the sweetener or just a teaspoon or two to see if it doesn’t irritate your stomach? Personally I find heavy cream sweet as is, so it might work 🙂 just a suggestion. Best wishes!
Try placing the bake tray in the oven rack - THEN pouring the hot water... safer and easier
Just made this today. A life saver. Thankuou.
Yum! Keto Creme Brûlée! Thank you!
Great recipe and the best of best in it is u jsed whole egg thank u so much
This is yummy recipe! One thing that I changed is putting the pan In the oven, them adding the water.
We always sprinkle nutmeg on top before baking. Tastes great.
Just to point out the obvious - it's FOUR ingredients
1- cream
2- eggs
3- vanilla extract
4- erythritol sweetener
So misleading title. Recipe is good though :) Thank you for sharing
Omg these were truly amazing! Thanks for all the awesome recipes🥰
So early!!! Oooh banana flavoring with some keto cookies ketonaner pudding!
YES!!!! ☝️
I'm going to try doing mine in the instant pot
I made this this morning but I did 1 1/2 c cream then added a half cup of water. I thought it might lower the carbs a bit per serving. It was delicious. I now just have to not eat it all today. Thanks for sharing this. Take care.
There should be no carbs in heavy cream!
@@cici79 I always thought for some reason it was one for every two tablespoons. It went with the theory that they don’t have to list when it’s less than a carb but in large amounts it adds up.
@@cici79 There are 6 1/2 g total carbs in a cup of heavy cream with 1/3 g of sugar. That is why whipped cream tastes sweet.
Nutmeg. FRESHLY grated, of course. Like vanilla, you have to put in a stupid amount to have too much.
This sounds like my next Mission In the Kitchen. Thanks for a great video!
All the sweeteners with "- tol" ending endings have been known by keto clinicians etc. to stall some people's weight loss, stimulate carb craving and even influence insulin. If you're young with healthier metabolism I guess it wouldn't matter. Everyone is different. This custard looks tasty.
@Mikaela K, thx for this comment. I also remember something like this or at least a video of dr. Eric Berg on erythritol.
@@sandtx4913 In my next moment of weakness I will turn to this recipe! Sure beats sucrose desserts. :P
I was wondering whether it might have a long-term effect on an 18-month old’s gut flora.
@@mikaelak90 only xylitol influences insulin (not as bad as actual sugar but still raises blood sugar a bit)
Ruins your Gut biome as well! My Gastro told me NOTHING that ends in OL is good! I found PLAIN Monk Fruit online and bought four big bags and use it in my coffee - it is a powder that is caramel colored. Bulk Supplements online.
This looks great. I'm going to try it and sprinkle some cinnamon on top.
Add cauliflower rice for rice pudding
Glad you showed me how you boil water. ;-)
Yummy!! I will try it with a Keto caramel sauce!
I put some lemon zest in it too. Everything is better with lemon! :)
I really like allulose. It has no cool aftertaste. It tastes just like sugar.
Would be great if you wrote the ingridients in the description of the video..
Finally a channel that doesn't feel forced into sponsor with hard to get ingredients..
Just put it in the oven...children were very excited to help :)
I'm at 25 mins and it's as runny as I put it in...will give it another 10 mins
Every Christmas my Grandmother used to make fresh custard to go on her green and red jellies along with her fruitcake all made from scratch. It seems like every Christmas someone would always bring up the fact that my Dad loved the custard so much that he would actually drink it .
Yes, this is the kind of custard I had when I was a child as my mother was English - they like a custard that is thick but can be poured over fruit. What we see here is called a set custard. Soft custard is done on top of the stove, and set custard is baked.
@@barbarahvilivitzky1092
Yep , my Grandmother was also of English heritage.
Yum yum😋Baby wanted that 2nd bite lol
Made this tonight and it was DEEEELISH!! I added some allspice.

I tried this it was so good and easy to make!
Thank you for this awesome and EASY recipe!!! They are delicious and wrapped up the extras in the fridge for the week!
You guys have the best recipes. Thank you.
I love it when you say "delicious"
This recipe was so yummy and super easy to make!
I have been following you guys since you first started and this is my go to recipe anytime I want something good for my tummy with lots of protein
You should sprinkle some nutmeg on top of each one.
Those look amazing. Like creme brulee, but without the glazed top. If you can figure out a way to. Put a "sugar glaze" on top without it being sugar, that would be awesome.
I love nutmeg on top!
