The one with the black rods is the latest starter set one (which still has a trimmed down outside motion) . AFAIK the only ones that definitely came with full valvegear are the green one from the KPEV set and the one that was sold separately (with red running plate sides). Both of these are fairly recent ones judging by the motor, very early ones have sheetmetal covers instead of a a PCB
Hi Ivo , thank you for sharing that information . I do believe I have one Black / Red with full valve gear , and the remaining two that I have are the trimmed down outside motion . Thanks , Regards, Anthony
I have one of these, and it's a pretty solid locomotive. Has a surprising amount of weight to it and is surprisingly smooth running for its age. Should last you a long time as long as you don't do anything too stupid to it.
Hi Steve, Totally agree .. well built , with good quality materials ... I keep servicing them and running them .. and they keep going and going ... Pleasure to run on the layout ...
Hi, nice video and I like how you explain, some times you need put the camera just a little far to ensure the focus, but general is to well, have a question, how you clean the weels 'cause my loco has black , can I clean with a rubber? Thanks a lot

I permanently shorted out a Piko Br55 by oiling the bearings and gears. 😞
what kind of oil did you use ? was it conductive ? even then , you would short out your power supply , not the motor . Could it be something else ?
where are you from ?
Hi David , I'm from Toronto , Ontario , Canada.
Looking for rewire diesel loco model 4273 Fleischmann ho
