I had an issue where it would grind on cold start. People told me its the tensioner, i chaanged that and 5 minutes + 100EUR later its still the same. What ended the rattle at start was going back to ORIGINAL OIL and FILTER, not OEM, ORIGINAL in mercedes bottles. 5w30 has 270 000km runs just fine. So chains last very long.
@@DaringBeefcake ok no worries hope you get the chance one day to it your video are clear and steps well explained 😊 need to change mine cause this car got some noise issue with gearbox and oil need change
@@koookao Its the bearing set, they go bad. Took me a week to DIY and will all the proper tools from mercedes that my friend borowed me (frame holder, special engine lift bracket and a schema of the gearbox as well as the bearing insertion tool for 5 speed manuals). 200EUR in parts (120EUR are the orginal bearings the rest is oil i also put in original) Also by some gasoline to wash out the gears when you open the gearbox it will be full of shavings
Thanks!
For this engine (1.5) when do you need to change the timing chain?
Well do be honest as long as you keep the oil changes it should go for a long time..I dont think there is a schedule as such for replacing it..
