Alec gives her great advice ie stopping her credit card, cancelling car payments, snatching stock, office equipment etc & asks Sally how much she has left from her £50,000 inheritance money & Sal says Just over £10,000 She also has funds from everything she put in to set up business with Greg Plus shes selling her undies stock in the market! They really should have got the legal,procedure correct when it came to the Children Act proceedings in the Sally & Kevin matter. They would not have got a final hearing so quickly, it can take months and a guardian would have been appointed and statements made. Also the children would have been at risk living with Greg as he was physically and verbally abusive toward Sally in the girls presence.
It simplifies script writing, so why wouldn't they do it? And this is 1999, when, artistically more than one way of looking at things and more than one approved set of opinions were allowed to be given expression. Now, there are so many areas writers can't go anywhere near, unless it's to illustrate what toxic bastards dissenters, or even questioners are. It's death to literature, art, theatre, TV and film, etc. Jane Austin becomes non binary, because 'they' didn't gender characters in their writing. Total BS, but who cares?
