Nice review, nailed it. You get this car. Have had my FR-S for 3 years now and it still makes me smile every time I drive it. I like that it’s basic. Like a blank slate you make it what you want. I’ve added a unequal length header, cat back and tune . Just those simple mods really wake this car up! Still undecided on whether to super charge it or not. Kinda happy with the way it is now. Awesome keep it up!

Great review and enjoy your humor. I drive a 2013 BRZ and still enjoy my daily drive. Of note, my BRZ still feels and handles like new after 5 years & 47K miles.

47k on a Subaru is nothing. She ain't even broke in yet. I've got a `93 Subaru (Forester not BRZ) with over 260k on the clock. Still runs, and drives, flawlessly.
I bought my 2017 toyota 860 special edition last year, very similar to this one expect mine is pearl white. I installed aftermarket rims and sticky tires, Injen cold air intake, Tomei UEL header + over pipe + Invidia cat-back exhaust with a custom tune (OFT) for 94 Octane. I think the car feels amazing now, its quite a difference from stock and recommend it to anyone who buys this car. Header + tune is the way to go.....
Just underpowered was my only complaint when I owned mine. I had the BRZ, and even with an intake, catback, and tuner from COBB it was...ok. I should've just bought the Vortec Supercharger first, then went to the exhaust. But good quality car! I put 31,890 miles on it. No issues
First time I saw one of Sarah's reviews. I love the style, the little delays in speech pattern to emphasize or blinks/side to side looks etc. All in all, good job.

Highly Caffeinated - Sarah does a great job on her own channel too. She's goofy and fun and attractive, but surprisingly knowledgeable and very hands-on with cars. It's a refreshing style and I surprisingly like it a lot.

As a Subaru mechanic, we know there is little difference between the subie/toyota version. The two companies came together for this project.

TFL has a lot of female viewers people. Its not just a man's world when it comes to cars and performance, people. Sarah is a nice addition here.

I agree with you Sarah, if a computer is controlling what gear you’re in, and controlling the throttle to maintain speed, you’re not driving, you’re just steering.
People need to be taught how to drive. How to manage a throttle, how to operate a clutch, shift their own gears.

Do you know how to ride a horse? Or shoe one? Can you dig a well? What about grow your own food and hunt? I get your point, but things change. It's pretty much already over for the manual transmission. They'll stick around for fun, but functionally they are obsolete. No major supercar manufacturer uses three pedals anymore, save for a couple of specialty market vehicles.
Anyone's preference is fine...autos and dcts are unquestionably better but better doesnt mean always more appealing ..as long as there's a manual option Im fine

I couldn’t agree more about that paint color. It’s subtle but super eye catching at the same time. It reminds me of the non-metallic grey that came on the early Audi TT. These cars continue to be 50hp short of legendary but I still want one.
As for dudes commenting on the host’s looks; who do you imagine this is impressing? Some private thoughts are ok to leave out of the comments section.
Scion FR-S was the American branch. 86 was the official name here in Japan as it is the successor to the AE86. I don’t know why they didn’t give the USDM version the 86 name or the Toyota logo however.
In the engine description, it says FA20 Flat 4, but it’s actually a boxer 4. All boxer engines are flat engines, but not all flat engines are boxers. This has more to do with how the pistons operate.
I would also mention that the shifter is a short throw type.
I think this engine is perfect for this car’s intention of being a handling god and drifting legend. However it is perfectly capable of adopting more power.
My car is a JDM 2013 86, custom filter, Tomei UEL, and a tuned ECU. Everything else is stock for now.

Fujibo Heavy STFU....you sound like those people begging for every 90s sports car..like people that beg for the evo...man it's annoying and another thing, this car is crap...years of development and fine tuning and a partnership with another billion dollar car maker, and this is what toyota comes out with....a 200hp slow af engine with rear wheel drive and no real extra trim. I really call this the poor person's sports car. When people are not satisfied with what they have in power from the manufacturer, they have to put a turbo in it just to make a difference which is sad because it should be as fast from the start from all the marketing it did racing down a hill side like Steve McQueen was driving it ha ha...this is a real joke. Get a WRX STI if your looking into something relevant..and from what we are seeing in this I'm sure that new supra won't be the head turner that everyone is hoping for ha ha
im not begging for anything. I could care less. Plus I grew up in the 90's so anything involving cars, music etc, its gonna be simply what i grew up on. Plus I love poor mans car, im poor so is the rest of the world. You have to start at the bottom to rise to the top. Build a foundation. Not born into it. Then you have no appreciation or work ethic. People have to be happy with what they can afford, work hard for it, and be happy with what they got. Its not a competition, no one cares.

Got my 86 for 4 years now and I doubt you could find better seats in any car for the same price. Supports you well, doesn't tire or shake your spine. Friend with an Audi TT would crave to have them in his car. Well done Toyota and Subaru. But the ergonomics all together are great on this platform.
She is way more entertaining than anyone else on this channel. A perfect review, no. But she was funny and is obviously passionate about cars. Roman just seems to relish getting free flights to press events and brown nosing with manufacturer reps. I might actually watch this channel if you have Sarah back.

This is a classic sport car, not a turbo charged sport car, not a muscle car. It drives on RPM, not on power. With a 6sp, you can pull all it's power out for as long as you want it, and that's the fun part. With a turbocharged, DCT, you never run on full power, only on a drag strip

Best aftermarket parts.
1. Open Flash tablet. You can run a tune to get the most out of your ad ons or your stock car you can even run e-85. $500.
2 1 pice steel Grim speed strut tower brace. Improves ride and steering feel for $140
3. Takeda cold air intake . You do not need a tune to run this. Plug the factory sound tube use the factory exhaust it does the perfect imitation of an Acura RSX-S. It makes the car sound beautiful. Adds bottom end torque and top end power wile ever so slightly upping your fuel economy as long as you don't put your foot in it. Add on more bolt on with the stock tune and the car will run lean. $325
4. Drop in center arm rest $40 and up. A must.
Don't wast money on an aftermarket exhaust. I good one will cut some weight but none will fix the sonic flaws with the FA-20.
I have Michelin PS4s on my BRZ they ride far better than stock and you cant reach the limits on public roads wet or dry. If you are never going to the track hold on to your stock tires as long as possible they are way more fun.

My take on what year car to buy is that the first impressions make or break the cars viability to market, so the first ones are built more carefully, and towards the discontinuation of a model the rush to get one necessitates a rush to build them resulting in poorer build quality.
Not a fan of this reviewer. Quite a huge step down from the regular crew. Both the camera work and the presenting (delivery and content) are quite poor. Doesn’t look or feel like your other work - quite unprofessional. Take her under your care and teach her to do better.

Good review, this girl got some humor. She had nice insight on the car's power, it was made for the common folk who want to modify their car. The base car is awesome and it's definitely a driver's car.

She never answered the title's question. Is it better than a BRZ? I will say, "no" but I am biased. I own a 2013 BRZ. Also, those that say that this car is slow, it isn't. The car is a momentum car. It goes fast in the corners. Does it handle better than a Miata? Yes, and no. With the horrible stock tires, the Miata can out handle it. Upgrade the tires and it is a beast in the corners.

Nice to see sarah back again. I had a 2014 BRZ. Love it on smooth back roads, but too many compromises for my commuting. Highway noise and ride are harsh, and the center console is not designed to be comfortable.

There is no brembo option for the 86 in the US. I got mine with black wheels, brembo brakes, sachs dampers as standard package of the black edition in Europe. I guess the US market is a bit less demanding than UE.
