Different tools work for different people. While medication may help one person, it may not help the next person. We all have to find the tools that work for ourselves.

Exactly, it’s about what’s best for the person not one-size-fits all!!!

Michelle Steilen Michelle Steilen thank you so so much for this comment - it too came on a morning where I needed to feel better about myself and how my mental illness is affecting me (no more so than during these strange, strange COVID times). I’m really glad that hearing it came at the right time for you and that it made you feel freed by listening - I guess that’s what I wanted to get across. Skating frees me in every way possible, mentally, physically, LEGALLY at times when I’ve lost my rights to freedom. I’ll be forever grateful for discovering it and to all those who have helped me on my journey whether that be my skate crew nearby or the extended skate family around the world - whether they know it or not! Sometimes watching videos of you guys out in the US when it’s raining here in the UK and I maybe don’t have my freedom at that time, also makes me feel free! Thank you so much for this! 🙏 I want to use my journey to empower and inspire others. I hope that’s part of my purpose for surviving.

ive never self harmed but i can relate to massive amounts of the other stuff, im permanently signed off from work and on pip because of my mental health.
Your brave as fuck going into such depth about your personal fight in a public UA-cam video and i have huge respect for you for that!
i have found release in flying Fixed wing FPV rc planes and found flying to be massively therapeutic, especially when flying above the clouds or doing long range flights (all my UA-cam videos are flying :D) but as i mentioned in a comment in one of your other videos, have just started quad skating again and i cannot believe i waited 5 1/2 years to do so, i feel like im free again!
I skated twice a week before i split with my wife and loved it but couldn't face it after my split because it was a family activity but since i put my skates on again for the first time last week, ive been out almost every day and done no less than 10 miles on any given day and im absolutely hooked again!
Ive already bought new skates to replace my Bauer turbos and have been enjoying skating outside so much im looking to buy another new pair so i have can have separate outside and rink only skates when when this virus headache finally goes away.
This is a new start and im not gonna stop skating again till my body tells me im too old!!

Hi Ellie. I’m really glad you decided to post this video. I watched your skate progress video last night and when I saw this one today it was fantastic to be able to hear more about your journey. I’m 41 and have just purchased a pair of skates. I’m so excited for them to arrive. I’ve been watching a lot of skating videos recently and yours are definitely among the best. Thank you for being so open and taking us on your journey with you. You’ve definitely got a new subscriber in me 😊

I never comment on videos, but you are brilliant and SO inspiring! I am getting on a bit and I’m just starting to learn how to skate and I love it. Your story perfectly shows how learning something like skating can improve your mindset and change your life. Please make lots more videos as you seem so down to earth and genuine and showing your journey would no doubt help and inspire so many people. 💪🏼

What a lovely comment! Thank you so much! Skating has benefitted my life so much and I know it is the same for others too. I hope it can do the same for you! Keep at it - it comes to you quicker than you expect if you just keep practicing! :)

Thank you so much for being that open. I can relate so much because I also have those disorders. As soon as you talked about being bored super easily I thought "fellow borderliner" :D
It is so awesome that you are better now.

I'm not better now (there are other issues in my life beyond my control) and I'm actually quite unwell - however if I am in the right circumstances I do have more tools to manage it now

Thank you for sharing your story! I'm happy you've found skating as your outlet to keep you healthy. Very inspiring and i wish you all the best! I'm beginning a skate journey also, i'm trying to skate for 365 days but it's a challenge with mental illness. Take care!

Enby Eats it’s a challenge but also so much of a reward and I find skating very inspiring for recovery. I think you’ll find yourself drawing positive parallels with your MH recovery, I know I do! Best of luck!
