How Golf Saved My Life

- Golf helped me persevere through the most difficult chapter of my life.
My passion for golf grew into an obsession, and I played frequently until I received a liver transplant in 2018. After recovering from my surgery, I began sharing course vlogs on UA-cam.
Geez, I thought you had the best golf channel on UA-cam before this video. This story makes it so much greater. I actually quit golf in my early 20s because I got very good at it but it became frustrating to me that there was a level I ultimately couldn’t achieve. My two sons have taken up golf in there late teens in the last year, my wife played on her high school team, and now I’m back into it and it’s been great to play as a family during this pandemic. I actually love golf again. I’ll probably never be back at the level I was when I was younger but I enjoy it so much more now. Your channel helps people to see you don’t have to have a perfect swing or hit the ball a mile to still play good or even great golf. It’s very encouraging. I look forward to watching many more of your rounds.
Thanks so much for the kind words. It's awesome that you're able to enjoy golf with your entire family - that's pretty rare and I'm sure you cherish it!
Indeed, golf also humbles us. It's great that you still love the game even if your lowest score may be behind you. Then again, sometimes those low scores pop up when you least expect them :D
So I'm too old to start with golf at my 40 😢
Legend of the Game
Takes one to know one playa 😎👍
Normally I say for me "music safes" ... but fill in the dot's and golf would be an understandable good one too. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
WADDAPLAYA!!!
Look in the mirror man! Love your vids!
Edit: Just subbed
Golf sidekick, thanks for the break 90 video. I’ve done it a few times , but not enough!!! I’m trying to put it all into one round, but keep 🤬ing it up. Waddaplaya⛳️👍
When you said your donor was a passionate golfer I got chills
Thanks, I certainly got chills when I read the note for the first time!!
Seriously. Full on chicken skin 🐓
I read this comment and thought "ok this is coming, it wont have that impact on me now that I know its coming" and it still had that impact on me.
I yelled “no way”!👍🏼❤️
so amazing man! love your channel and wish you nothing but the best! Golf 4 life! 4Fore!!!
Adam, this really struck a cord with me. Like you, golf was also a saving grace in my life. When i was 21 years old i struggled heavily with drugs and alcohol. For about 5 years all i cared about was the drink after work and the party on the weekend. It came to a point where i had to fess to my parents and loved ones and checked myself into rehab. The first few months were extremely rough and i knew i needed a find a hobby. I was an avid golfer in highschool so i figured why not pick it up again and here we are 16 months sober and i’m golfing as much as i possibly can. When i’m on that golf course there is seriously no better high ill ever get with any sort of substance. Your content is amazing and it is incredibly inspiring how many strokes you take off with a very clean short game. Keep up the good work my man and thank you for sharing your story.
Way to go Mike. I’d like to touch on something you said if that’s okay. Like you, I love golf. But also like you before you recovered from your addiction, I too am always thinking about and sometimes only care about Friday and getting to play the next round of golf, which is the “weekend party” for me. I know there’s more important less fun stuff to be done, but sometimes the thinking of golf encompasses you and everything else is ignored, even if it’s not the time to ignore something. That’s where my problem lies. What advice do you have for that?
Mike, this is an amazing story and I'm so happy that you shared it. You have a friend and supporter in me. Go low out there - all the best!
2 yrs into recovery myself and golf is a huge part of my success
Beautiful bro👊🏻
Wow. I’ve been following you for awhile now. Why? Because I can’t golf anymore. Arthritis in left ankle, left knee, spinabifada in lower back with arthritis around it. My wife got me a custom fitted set of golf clubs. I love her and my clubs.
Best I’ve ever shot is an 83. It was a great day.
Sadly I’ll be selling all my golf stuff this spring. I’m going to try to learn how to play the guitar. But I told my wife I will sell my clubs before I buy a guitar.
Love your 18 in (about) 8 minute videos. Reminds me of when I could play.🥺🥺
Keep posting videos please. I’ll keep watching. ❤️⛳️🏌🏻♂️
From one Canadian to another… thank you very very much. 🇨🇦😎
Awesome story! New subscriber...looking forward to catching up! :)
Second video I've watched on your channel, and now I'm subscribed. This had all the feels. I'm happy for you and looking forward to watching all your videos.
Golf, man. Awesome story. Glad you’re well and thanks for bringing us your unique content. When I can’t get out there and hack it up, I love to watch people enjoying and respecting the game. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing that,I bet your donor would be made up that a fellow golf nut got his liver!! Great story! I hated golf as a kid,my Dad loved it but all I could see was shitty knitwear and an old middle class elitist pastime,I couldn’t even admit it was a Sport. Fast forward to my 37 year old self…I’m finishing playing footie and know I need to have something competitive in my world, what to do? Luckily my Dad convinced me to give Golf a bash,it was 2005 and Tiger had changed the image of the game so I thought why not? With first sweetly struck shot on the range I was hooked, played my first round a few weeks later and never looked back,my only regret is being a stubborn little bastard and not listening to the old man years ago, could’ve been of scratch by now!!
Great video and really enjoying your channel! I grew up playing golf through my teenage years, then worked and studied a lot overseas and never had my clubs with me. I'm currently taking a break from work to figure out what I want to do next, and re-finding my passion for golf in my 30s has been amazing. As a younger golfer I was very hard on myself and would ruin entire rounds by being very negative and unable to forget bad shots. Now I try to channel mindfulness and a short memory and just enjoy the privilege of being outside on a beautiful piece of land for 4hrs. Keep up the amazing work!
Man, came across this instantly subscribed. Love the story man did u ever have anymore contact with the liver transplant's mother. I'm 36 started golfing a year ago I live pretty close to ya on Vancouver island. My wife started doing lady nights at a crappy par 3 and she enjoyed it so I decided to pick it up and I can't stop thinking about it now... I watch it, study it, dream about it. The majority of people o have met are just as excited about it as I love the Reddit community I can't believe I didn't start younger. Funny enough this all started after I had a liver resection, not a transplant, but they found a tumour and had to remove more than half my liver... after my recovery was when my wife and I started playing. I look forward to following your progress and enjoyment of the game
Cheers
Haven't watched this since after the first time we played together. Watching it now, looking forward to AZ, I am glad you made it.
Great story, great guy!Let me know if you come to NYC area. Definitely want to meet you and have a nice round in my club. Keep up the good work Adam!
Your a great example of strength. Great video and amazing story. God bless and thank you for sharing.
Touching story. I recently took up golf and started watching your videos. I too lived in the Bay and I lost a great friend to liver failure while living there. My swing is terrible too. Coincidence or a devine push to stick with golf?
Amazing story. This could easily be a segment on Good Morning America or something.
Great video. Thank you for sharing your story. My step dad and grandpa introduced me to the game when I was a teenager. I didn’t take it seriously until recently.
beautiful story. wishing you the best and if you'll allow it i'd love to keep you in my prayers. especially during easter, in a time of renewal and resurrection. cheers
Your story is very inspiring, thank you for sharing. Keep up the great content! New to the Chanel but you have a fan in me.
Thanks for making this video. Very inspirational, I might go play a round of golf right now
Thanks for sharing your story. Glad you reconnected to the golf course and that your procedure was successful.
Great story man. love watching your videos. Hope all is well on and off the links.
Great channel, great content and excellent story. I'm getting back into the game after 30 years and am hooked this time despite struggling on the course. Subscribed.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a UA-cam video with 1k+ likes and 0 dislikes. This is a tribute to you, the content you make and how much joy you bring to everyone who watches your content wherever it may be. You are as humble as you are inspirational. Fantastic story and look forward to many more videos from you in the years to come! Hope all is still well in your life brother 👌
5:00 as a part of your audience, I confirm that I care!
Amazing. Thank you for all the hard work I’m sure it takes to share with us
DOPE STUFF! LIFE CHANGING STUFF! GOD BLESS YOU BRO
This gave me goosebumps. Amazing story
I've been watching your channel for a while now but am just seeing this video for the first time and WOW, what an absolutely amazing story. I am just getting back into the game myself and your videos have been a huge inspiration to me. Looking forward to more great content for years to come!
Only makes you stronger! Anti-Fragility!
Golf sidekick said it best.
Thanks for sharing man ✌
After watching your UA-cam channel I’m determined to break 80 this year!
Love this. Enjoy the grind!
what a beautiful story ... Golf is a great Game of life...
I agree with Jboat571, I think you have just about the best golf channel on UA-cam. I do like Rick Shield's channel as well, not so much as he is a great golfer (he does have a beautiful swing though!), but I like the entertainment value: Rick's English accent and that he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously and is just having fun. You have that same energy and charisma Adam!
Plus, this particular video is just awesome. Thank you very much for sharing your story. I am now one of your almost 30K subscribers! I hope you make it over a million.
great story. i played golf obsessively until college. then around 2007, after college, the opiate epidemic sunk its teeth in to me and i stopped playing. 15 years later, i have a few clean years and i started playing again last year. i forgot how much i loved this game... the passion for golf and life is back. amazing stuff. keep it up!
Wow man. That's incredible. What a story. Now I understand your attitude on the golf course, or at least the reason for it. It's the funnest most frustrating game out there but at the end of the day it's just a game. Getting pissed over a bad shot only guarantees another bad shot and for me my good attitude on the course comes from realizing that I never practiced. Ever. I just played. So I had no right to ever get mad. Then I watch the pros hit bad shots every weekend and think man we have alot of nerve to be upset over missing fairways and greens.
Anyway, I enjoy your content. Love the talking through your thought process over each shot and that the videos are shorter than most put out. Most of these guys drop a 45 minutes 6 hole video that's loaded with extra junk I'm just not interested in. Gonna drop you a sub and wish you great health. Keep it on the short stuff.
Thanks for the kind words. Never knew my content would find an audience on YT and it's always nice to get feedback like this :)
Really great story man and nice video! Love your content.
Just seeing this now. Thank you so much for sharing!
May u always be passionate in your life it has served you well♥️
Liked, downloaded, saved. I’ve been watching your videos for awhile now and I had no idea of your health issues that you’ve overcame. Your story is amazing. Cheers
I got into golf in November (2022) and ran into your vlogs a few months ago. I would watch your vids because you seemed to swing just like me, as opposed to many of the other youtubers that claim to be average golfers but have the perfect swing Haha. Anyway, this was the first time I've seen this specific post about your story. It's very touching, and I am so happy for you. I'm still currently a 30 handicap, but very determined. I play 2-3x a week, hit in my backyard daily, so I'm hoping that I can slowly bring that handicap down. I've found golf to center me, as it does for you and many others. Keep up the great work, and continue posting your journey. I, myself, am now a fan of yours. Cheers brother.
That’s a really cool story. My path of loving golf was kind of like this in where golf somewhat saved me. While I am only 18 years old, throughout high school I had severe anxiety and was diagnosed with adhd from an early age. This lead to me becoming severely depressed and I became very clouded and isolated with the worst thoughts. I had always loved golf but I had stopped playing when I got to high school because I wasn’t good enough to make the team and I had other things I wanted to focus on. However, when my depression reached its worst, my friend texted and asked me if I wanted to play golf. I reluctantly said yes and we went and I felt happy for the first time in months. I started to get into it and now I am a happy person and I wouldn’t probably be here without golf. Your content is awesome and your story is inspiring to me, and I look forward to supporting your content in the future!
Nice comment mate, I suffer from BPD (personality disorder) and find golf very therapeutic.
@@waynel6310 me too!
@@Fluffy-ov1tp I'm so happy for you. It's touching to hear that we share this special relationship with golf. I hope it continues to deliver you joy for the rest of your life :)
@@NotAScratchGolfer you as well!
@Not A Scratch Golfer only got respect for you man, what a cool story. Like I said before, once COVID moves along, let’s get a round in. Keep on chasing the little white ball 🏌️♂️
Awesome story...just found ur channel....so I will share that I used to play with some frequency up to maybe 15+ years ago....more often than not, I'd play nine holes as i had 3 kids during much of that time. Fast forward to now the days of Covid….I was furloughed, then let go from my job and out of work for sixteen months….as a soon to be sixty year old, living alone, I was playing a lot of online chess but as spring arrived, I decided to golf again…I’d go to my favorite driving range which had a nine hole hokey course, but didn’t have confidence to go to a real course…I was golfing by myself as no one played that course at that range…then I upgraded to an executive course and again, this in May 2021….again, was playing by myself as the course wasn’t busy when I was going….and I started going a lot. 11 days in June, 19 in July, when I also found an 18 hole course that was cheap as well. I was playing more times than I ever had before and I have scores on an excel sheet that cover from say 1991-2003. When I got a job in August, I then had to switch to weekends. It’s now what I enjoy most and in Maryland here in January after the first weekend it got gold and for a month I was limited to driving range maybe on a weekend in 20 and 30 degree temps….yesterday I got out as it was fifty. During this time I’ve also practiced in my apartment, putting into empty Pringles cans, and I chip against my Grandpap’s Lazy Boy recliner from the 70s as it returns the ball back to me. I look forward to more of your video’s but thought I’d share this response. I am now less than 18 mos from age 62 and while I don’t see myself retiring per se, I can see myself maybe cutting back to part time. Oh, and a new job I have I just found out I have to work 2 Saturday’s month, which floored me…looks like I will be getting a new job as golf is more important to me.
I know this is an old video but , Golf saved my life too . I started having some pain in my clavicle while playing golf . I went to the doctor and it turned out to just be some inflammation. But X-rays showed what turned out to be cancer on my pancreas. They removed 1/3 of my pancreas. That was in 2020 and I’m still kicking.
Adam Hey - just stumbled on your channel yesterday with you playing Pasatiempo. I remember hearing the tv announcers talk about how Julie Inskster played there a lot and how Lauren Robert’s worked there at the half way snack bar selling Pimento sandwiches and how it was Alister Mackenzie’s master work and how it was Public ! - to boot. I started as a caddy when I was 15 and have played ever since - even won a few club tournaments. Anyway, I too am a transplant recipient. I got my first heart transplant in 1990 and my second in 2016. I was texting back and forth with Eric Compton back 2016 while I was waiting for a donor. Anyway, enjoy your health and of course the golf and keep the vids coming. ✌️✌️
Hello from New Zealand. Been following your channel for a few months now and am enjoying the content. What makes me love golf so much? I learnt to play golf from a golf pro/english teacher at Highschool. My Dad started playing at the same time and it was an awesome Father/Son sport. Of course he was better than me, but thanks to Handicap system we would always have great competitions. Dad passed away 27 years ago, and i now have two boys 11 and 13. Hoping they will both discover how awesome the game is too! Cheers, Tom Carr, Palmerston North, NZ.
Brother your a warrior!!!
If our paths ever cross I would love to tee it up with you my treat! ✊🏾 consider me your buddy in Hawaii! 🤙🏾😎
What an amazing and emotional story. I'm so happy for you, man. I love watching your channel while I eat and seeing you pull out great scores while also having more than enough stinker shots is quite inspirational. I returned to the sport this year, after not playing for the most part of my 20s. After i turned 30, me and my best friend (who I have met through golf youth when we were 10) decided to start again. Best decision of the year. After a few rounds, I'm playing between 87 (best) and 95 (worst) so far and hoping to break 85 this year.
Much love.
Very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Wow great story! I'm not sure why I like this game so much. My back is shot, I'm in pain after every round. I can't drive very far even tho I'm 6'6". I'm not even good, but somehow the challenge motivates me and brings me a joy I rarely find anymore. Besides PT, this is the only exercise I get anymore.. I play as much as my body and budget allows.
Amazing story. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Love it. Very inspiring. I would like to say you that the creator of the universe has big, beautiful plans for you. He saved you and wants you to know how much he loves you. See God in the beautiful scenery on the course. Call out to him to truly reveal himself to you. Once Jesus gets ahold of a beautiful spirit like you, you're going to make such a beautiful impact of the kingdom of God. Thanks for sharing your story. Check out The gospel of John and just let it wash over you... Or don't. I will be grateful and inspired by your story regardless, but Jesus in me is telling me to let you know how much He loves you. Keep it up. I really enjoy your content.
God has plans for you. Great channel and now I'm a new fan.
Recent subscriber. Love the content. Watching your content has helped bring down my handicap from 16 to 12, made me realise my strengths and focus on them. Really different to other stuff out there and loving it. Thanks for the effort keep up great work. You have inspired my game
Hey Adam, such an inspiring story man! I am happy for you having a turn around in your health. I believe its the one thing that money can`t buy. I myself was diagnosed with Addison`s desease in 1992, so on Cortizone for the rest of my live. I feel honoured sharing this disease with JFK. My love for golf started in 1983 when I was in the military. We used to get a pass on a Wednesday if you did sport.. Called it sport parade. So a mate of mine introduced me to golf and I`ve been hooked on it ever since... Also been a Hacker ever since 🤣Really love the contents of your video`s, keep up the great work. Of course the Subscriped button has been smashed !! 😅😅
Glad you made it through bud god bless your donor!!!
I got hepatitis a had to spend 9 days in the hospital I've suffered scarring on my liver I had to have 2 gallons fluid drained from my abdomen every couple weeks for 3 months I lost 140 pound in 6 months due to muscle waste and no being able to eat I had to use a Walker to get around I was a mid 80s golfer before with a solid 275 to 300 yard drive (I'm a big guy) to get my muscle back is started walking 9 holes at an exec course 2 years later I'm still only driving it about 200 yards but I'm straighter than ever and I'm still trying to break 100 again but I enjoy playing so much more than before and watching your videos gives me hope I can get my game back or learn how to get around the course without the long ball
Great story, happy your on the other side of this.👍👊
Love the channel. So happy to see you feeling well
Hi Adam, loved your channel after you did that joint video with Matt from Golf Sidekick. I would recommend the book, "Golf is not a game of perfect" by Dr. Bob Rotella to everyone here. I read that book and shot a personal best of 86, from the blue tees on my home course, the day after. I am a currently a 25 handicap, so that score meant a lot to me. I now know I have the potential to do better if I practice, apply course management and get my head in the right place on the course.
Adam I'm with Golfer's Journal. Shoot me a message plz. Thx.
Awesome story, very inspiring!
I started playing golf to be able to beat my dad! 4 years later I’m still playing because I still havnt beaten him. One day I will! Shot 90 the other day and now I’m addicted. Thanks for letting me binge your channel at work!
Adam, love your videos and this heart felt story, if your ever in Arkansas, I live in the mountains of Hot Springs Village. Let me know if you wanna visit and play one of our 8 championship courses.
Thank you for your story. Hearing your story has struck a chord in my life. My father has always been an avid golfer. To say that he would amaze people on the course, would be an understatement. All throughout my life I would hear from people, family and strangers noticing my last name, how great of a golfer he was. He cut his Arnold Palmer 7 Iron when I was little so that I could have a golf club to hit a ball around with (which I still have and keep in my golf bag). He bought me my first set of clubs when I was 10. We would talk golf all the time. One and a half years ago, his health was failing. This person who was active and a work horse, suddenly lost all his weight, couldn’t eat and couldn’t get out of bed. After many tests and doctors visits, as well as trips to the ER, he was told that he had cirrhosis of the liver. After many tests and months went by, they found him to have Primary biliary cholangitis as the culprit for his cirrhosis, an autoimmune disease that attacks his bile ducts in his liver. To say that the past two years have been a difficult struggle for him, would be a huge understatement. He still has difficulty maintaining his weight, difficulty maintaining tasks at home and one problem solved always led to another problem showing up. Thankfully, his health is progressing, but rather slowly. My dad hadn’t golfed since before his health suddenly spiraled. However, not too long ago, he was able to hit the course and played 9 holes. He called me right away and he was so excited and emotional. He joked that he’s now playing “bogey golf” and not hitting close to his previous 300 yard drives, but he felt some sense of normalcy while on the course. It was the first time in so long when he felt like he was in decent health and he can see all the progress he’s made along the way. His time playing on that course that day, was a feeling and emotion he’s never felt while playing golf before. He’s still working hard to improve his health so that he can fly here and we can play some golf. Thank you again for your story. You can see why that story struck so deeply within myself.
Truly inspiring brotha, glad I found your channel. Avid golfer here too!!!
Just started watching your channel. My first round was under the lights at a Pitch and Putt in Dubai while on a Naval Deployment to the Middle East. I only remember one good shot (about 15 feet from the hole). I started playing regularly upon returning to the states. Make it a great day!
What a great story! How I love the view of Vancouver, the city I would love to live in if I moved to Canada.
Great story here! Keep the videos coming just stumbled across your channel and I love the content. I’m
Also in the Vancouver area!
Amazing, thanks for sharing. A buddy from work played in a golf league and they became short a player, so asked me to play even though I’d never played before. It was a big struggle but being in the league forced me to go every week, and I got hooked on trying to improve and catch up to where my mates were. I give them a lot of credit for their patience!!
I live in NY and also have an autoimmune disease, I have IDB or Ulcerative Colitis. I started playing golf during COVID and much like you I started playing one day and just got hooked on it. I was invited to a tournament for vets that takes place by my friend who has PTSD and the guy the tournament is actually for and I just never stopped. Now I played at least once every weekend and sometimes 2-3 times a week. Your channel has been super informative to me and maybe one day I'll record myself playing golf too and put on UA-cam when I actually consider myself good enough to do it.
I have been watching your videos for a while. Love the commentary while watching you play cause, let's be honest, too many other people talk too much and I appreciate you commentate while playing vs talking so much before each shot. I like that you do on more difficult shots or shots that require so extra thought though. I have a toddler and am a full time stay home dad with him so when I have free time to watch videos, I fast forward a lot to see shots and I don't have to do that with your videos. I will have to get to Canada someday to play. If you ever come to northwest Ohio, I will.come play or watch you live in action! Love to see your chipping and putting in person. Glad your healthy. Keep making those videos!
You are blessed, sir. I enjoy your channel. I have a child who requires 24 hr assistance. She was born with a condition and I don’t get to play. But it’s my unfulfilled passion to play, vicariously I get to see and feel golf again through watching you.
Wow, this is incredible to hear. I'm really glad that I can help fulfill that for you. All the best to you and your family :)
the power of golf is undeniable. great story and big fan of the channel
Thanks, Danny!
I enjoy your videos man. This is awesome
Adam, I’ve recently stumbled onto your videos and I love how your game mirrors so many golfers out there, but you make it work for you.
This is my first season back after 2 major medical scares 11 months ago, and this video made me realize how easily the game I love so much could have been taken away from me. Instead of dwelling on it, I’m excited to be able to play again, and I plan on carrying a positive attitude into every round going forward! Thank you so much!
Great story .. playing golf on a more regular basis for about 2 years and loving it, play on an island 9 hole gem of a course in Ireland .. check it out Cruit Island Golf Course.
Incredible story and love your passion for the game. You will undoubtedly inspire people to get through tough times in their lives. By the way you are not as shit as me, you would need to play a lot worse than you currently do to be that bad 😂. I love the game though so will keep going and enjoying it. Keep going with the channel its great to watch 👍👍
Fantastic story, thanks for sharing. I'm glad you have found good health and your passion.
Awesome story and appreciate your openness to share with the world. New huge fan and subscriber!
If I was lucky to be reborn the one thing I would want in my new life again is golf - it’s given me so much fun and friends and great times - everything else wouldn’t be a mandatory reason to come back
It’s great for well being and health
All your videos make me want to golf with you more and more. Great energy. I'm intimidated by video editing, but it really is just an excuse. I should just record and post. Keep it up man!
I rarely comment about any YT videos, but..... all of us (not just those who play golf) should take a moment and reflect on what you offer. Your story is inspirational and many of us need an opportunity to focus (or re-focus) on what is important in life. We all should take a moment to back away from the day-to-day treadmill of life and pay attention to what really matters in life. Keep doing what you are doing!
Adam, that's a great story. Golf does seem to have a therapeutic and spiritual element to it. I have some of that in my life. Wondering if this video has been used to endorse golf in the public eye. Here in California there's a move/bill to convert muny/public courses to other uses, citing golf as superfluous and for the elite smug. Most of us are "Not scratch golfers" or elites. Your story would support keeping golf present and available. Thanks for sharing your history.
Dude - what an inspiring story. Subscribed forever.
Grew up next to a pitch and putt eh? No wonder your short game is so on point. Super power backstory revealed
Your story is so damn incredible. I have also found golf to be therapeutic in more than one way. I have an autoimmune disease as well, and I work a desk job that’s slowly killing my health. Golf has inspired me to take better care of myself, and I’ve been improving slowly but surely. I played a lot of golf as a kid but I fell out of love with it until my early 30’s. Now I wish I could play all day every day lol. Thank you for doing what you do and inspiring us all.
How does a not a scratch golfer make you tear up ffs :) When something pulls in all walks of life there is nothing like it. Golf is one of the most frustrating and beautiful things you can do to pass time in an environment so beautiful with friends or just alone. There are not too many passions left out there for us to enjoy anymore. The fun police are out to destroy everything. An inspirational story and hope your channel grows.
While I do love golf, in my personal life the sport that changed me was mountain biking. I was at my lowest point in my life and happened to watch a video of people just messing around out on their local trails. It looked like so much fun and a real challenge. So later that week I thought to my self, "Hey I own a bike, this looks fun and I've ridden on roads since I was a kid, how hard could this be?" So I went for a ride at the local trail system, little did I know the bike I had was terrible for trail riding and I almost crashed several times. But that first ride changed me profoundly. The adrenaline and the feeling of accomplishment when you overcame a section of trail you didn't even think was possible is hard to describe. You also experience something similar to what you described with golf where all you are thinking about is the trail and not crashing but also pushing through the fatigue. If I hadn't found MTB my life may have ended because of how low that point was and I am thankful every day that I clicked on that video 5 years ago.
Thank you for sharing your story!
Thanks for sharing your story. I just found your channel today. My wife and I recently started playing golf to exercise, she is pre-transplant (lungs). Her condition has deteriorated to the point that she doesn't have the strength or energy to play, at this time I'm looking forward to her post transplant when we can play together. The local VA golf course offers free lessons for its members, where we were taking lessons before her decline. I will show her your video and hope it inspires her to continue with golf as rehab after the surgery. Thank you

I love this video and your story. Thank you for sharing it and inspiring me!
That’s a very very strong story. You sir, have to play golf. It’s literally part of you. I live near a par 3 course and driving range. I’m there most days. I need it to get away from the stresses of life and career. Exactly as you say ‘you don’t concentrate on anything other than that white ball’. To me there is no feeling like when that ball gets in the way of the club and you feel the ball being compressed. I’m constantly chasing that feeling. Even if it’s just a bucket of 45 per day. As long as I get that feeling, I’m happy. Unfortunately I can’t play often but am looking at joining a club to get some competitive golf under my belt. Having a young family means time and money is at a premium, but a bucket a day keeps the bad thoughts away!
Such a great story I’m very glad you are making videos now
Thanks, Harrison.
Just awesome!!! My Uncle taught me the game when I was 10. I became hooked, wanting to be a pro, playing & practice for hours daily. It really helped distract my mind from problems at home. I won tournaments in high school & received multiple scholarships to play, but I was acting up without a Father at home hanging out with the wrong group. Instead I dropped out of school at 17 wasting opportunities. I stopped playing as often due to finances while living in California I couldn’t afford the price to play at the time so I pretty much quit. Well, this year I moved to Midwest where you can afford to have hobbies such as golf again & have been playing 2-3 rounds a week past 2 months! I almost forget how much I need this game, it’s all I want to do & I’ve decided that I want to become a Golf Coach & help others enjoy this therapeutic yet frustrating game we love, GOLF! You are an inspiration my friend. Thank you for your time⛳️
Man.... that made me cry. Good luck on your continuing recovery. Enjoy the game. We love your content.
