It’s amazing how marketing is so powerful! Just the fact I’m writing it shows how Flo has built a narrative to value what sells the most… It seems that people forgot all achievements that Meregali has had over the years under Mario Reis before moving to New Wave, such as the 3 titles he has as world champion. I’m not saying that John isn’t an awesome coach, probably, but arguably, the best nowadays. However we cannot forget Meregali’s achievements before. Just because Meregali’s won Panams under John’s guidance he is the KING of Gi? It does not make sense! People all of a sudden forgot Roger Gracie (10x World Champion), Buchecha (13x World Champion), Leandro Lo (8x World Champion), Rafael Mendes, Gui Mendes, Cobrinha and the list goes on… Yeah, he is one of the most entertaining fighters in the Gi scenario nowadays, but still has much to prove to be considered the King of Gi. I think that moving to New Wave has been one of the best choices Meregali’s made to his career, not because of a technical gap on his training in Brazil, but because it sells on America! It’ll put money in his pocket and probably in few years he’ll be one of the most well paid athletes in the Gi, mainly because training under Danaher has this appeal in America… Is it wrong? No it is what it is!
yeah flo is always trying to do that. they wanted to get rid of pedro marinho and they were hyping giancarlo like crazy But i dont blame them. They need money, and the best way to make money in the sports arena is to create stories and narratives. Thats how you can capture people's attention . The sport is growing and we kinda need that if the athletes are going to get payed.
not just the money part, you can clearly see the massive improvement he had compared to last year's Worlds. Every single match felt like a flow with little resistance, just speaks how good and elegant his already polished jiu-jitsu has become. It's almost like how gordon's every match looks in no-gi. The best example is his Absolute final with Munis. Last time it was just an advantage, this time it's absolute domination where munis seemed like pretty much stuck.
@@bonsuer1 but the primary reason for this was the fact that last time he had a rib injury, this time he was healthy. He still won despite the injury so this time he was obviously much more confident as well. I also think last time he had an arrangement with munis because it was worlds, this time neither of them really cared so much so they fought for real.
I remember when Meregali became a World Champion and was still under Reis. He had a youtube channel documenting his battle against anxiety and the fact that his mental state was his first obstacle in attaining greatness. He obviously has the mind (and the ability) of a champion now, and has been able to become one with himself, but this whole talk about saving this "effing" Sport and people hating him because he is the best is a complete 180 degree to how he spoke before. In fact, it sounds like he has been hanging out with Gordon Ryan a little too much. Case in point, as opposed to the latter, I have never heard one person say they hate Meregali (whether online or otherwise). This whole thing sounds excessive and unnecessary.
(Under the Tutelage of John Danaher)... Nicholas Merengali could Well Become the Gi Equivalent of Gordon Ryan... John Started w. Gordon Early in His Career...While Nicholas was a More Polished Practicioner when He began w. John Last Year...and Nicholas has Tightened His Game and Improved Astronomically in a Short Time... The LCD (Lowest Common Denominator) is John Danaher...The "Dream Team" He Assembled in the "Danaher Death Squad" is Revolutionary... This will be a Big Year for Nicholas and could Breathe Life back into Gi Competitions... TY and God Bless
People can’t handle the character he’s playing to build hype for the gi again.. they get feelings about it and take it personally just like they have with Gordon…. It’s just a tool to sell the matches and make income… even the split of the dds to create two teams that are against each other was all about creating hype about matches and rivalries and more income for all involved.. social media is just a giant psy op for the most part haha 😂
guy is good but he also has the physical attributes advantage against the rest of the competitors. Jiu jitsu is a young man's sport and the more athletic and younger person will always win over the rest
"here to save the sport" ???????????????? wtf he talking about lol may be talking about to save GI being relevant in the mainstream... NO gi is thrusting bjj into the mainstream

Only Meregali could make me watch a 20 minute Flo production.
that's cute
Don't lie to yourself and to others. They produce great content and some bad ones. There's no shame in enjoying some.
I love this ultra calm and focused way of Nicholas and Gordon on the mat
I love his energy! And, he is definitely the KING of the Gi!
Meregali showed incredible calmness and skill to get out of tough situations. Really impressive.
Man, this dude is fun to watch. Great job, Meregali!
This was an amazing showcase! I was sooooo pumped to be in the Press Pool for this.
Great edit guys ! Great Merega matches as well

Does anyone know what Gi Brand Meregali wears here during Pans 2023? I love the clean look to it.

It's exactly what i think regarding he being the so called " king" . he has a long road yet.

Totally agree
Maybe not here in the US but Alemaõ is hated in Brasil for his confidence and cockiness
Danaher is such a scientist..
Einstein of Jiu Jitsu
A hybrid of Roger Gracie and Gordon Ryan you get Nicholas meregali 2.0
You think he is as good as either of those you mentioned?
He’s a hybrid of Michael Langhi and Rafa Mendes except the big.
@@TheHitman- not as dominant but he's the top gi guy right now i think. Tainan might be better p4p...might

Amazing etc. I still want to see more elite judoka vs elite bjj players in gi. So much talent on each side.
Can someone please explain why Nicholas gets so much hate? The dude is an absolute weapon on the mats👑
Maybe because he is getting as arrogant as GR

How many years have we been watching Flo interviews that suck because they don't mic the person asking questions?
Love to see him fight against Duarte again. K D was impressive at Euro too.

Absolute beast.
Meregali sobrou ! 👏👏
