The Patriots were some hard-headed people and of course, very patriotic. They were proud of being called a yankee! The British thought they were fools but the Patriots proved them wrong.

    And there was Gen'ral Washington,
    Upon a slapping stallion,
    A-giving orders to his men-
I guess there was a million.
(CHORUS) Yankee Doodle, keep it up,
    Yankee Doodle dandy,
Mind the music and the step,
And with the girls be handy.
A long war then was fought and won:
    The British were defeated,
And Yankee Doodle was the march
    To which their troops retreated.

Britian and the U.S. are and will be close for along time, regardless what happened in the revolution. It was unfortunate blood was spilt, but it was the last option. No matter how many epistles of peace were sent to the motherland they still wanted a one way deal, no meeting in the middle or compromise. What else do people expect the colonist to do? Britian had it coming. But look at us tday, were living side by side. We might live differently in some ways, and grasp concepts differently. But were still brothers.

suprememachinez It's to say when you're american, love the culture, I love the language, it's easier talk about freedom in american lands where you have people to think equally, try to come here in this damm ass country A.K.A Brasil. Talk about freedom. One day I will live in America, and in the 4th we'll sing the stars spangled banner together. " The land of the free, and the home of the brave".

I never said we were perfect as a country, we have a history of racial problems, slavery and genocide against indigenous people, I simply said you could at least be welcoming to someone who wants to immigrate. I'm 100 % Native American myself, specifically Cherokee, so i could tell you about the genocide of my people and the trail of tears.. No country is perfect and all have things in the past that make us cringe. Your comment had nothing to do with Natan's. He wants to come here and I welcomed him.
