I met Jimi one night Thursday when he had just finished his studio and my dad pointed him walking by at TWA walking down a ramp to go out and my grandmother came in from Ohio soon.. I called out "Jimi" I was 14 years old. It was 1968. He had completed --- Axis Bold as Love . He put his arm around my neck ad we talked just for 10 minutes and I told him how much i loved his work. I was the boy he mentioned in his lyrics Gypsy Eyes :You know little boy I could love you..." I will forget how kind and soft spoken he was. He wore his black hat and Paisley shirt with bell bottoms with rivets and boots. I floated saying bye after few minutes, Mitch Mitchel and one press agent helped get his attention when i called out to him down the ramp. He played loud and probably lost some hearing. Anyway I taught myself a lot on guitar from his work and especially Little Wing. I remember in the Band of Gypsies album how he was frustrated, I came through in his comments about "jelly fish floating around..." The Black Panthers put pressure on him about playing with Black artists which i thought was unfair to him, It was not his spirit to care about that issue loving all as people as he did not caring about race differences. When he died I cried quietly in my bedroom but kept on playing his stuff and kicked ass at battle of the bands concerts on Long island. I knew I had something others did not I had a lings blessing on my work and in my life for music. I was a violinist from Julliard and picked up guitar. He and the Beatles inspired me to explore pop music beyond the classics. I will always remember Jimi. He had a hard life but gave all he had to make it worth it like the sweetest wine for all of us. His howling guitar crying out about the pain in his and others lives life always inspires me on how to let it all out when you play a solo and never hold back blessing your audience the special connection gift from teh spiritual world, of music.

You blew past that quick mentioning, of the utterly remarkable acoustic jam that Jimi did with Mitch, on 2 Feb 1970. Of course, it has never been officially released, but has been around for years on the collector circuit. Jimi displays awesome virtuosity on his Martin acoustic guitar, further exploring ideas he presented during that Woodstock "Improvisation" workout...It is a rare gem, as Hendrix on acoustic guitar was seldom captured. He exhibits quick bits of Flamenco guitar, subtle Blues stylings, etc. This recording, done on Jimi's good quality tape recorder, needs to be given more attention.
