I know this is an older video, but I just started sewing and I absolutely lost it when she said “Don’t forget to put the pressure foot down, the machine really doesn’t like it….” I’m so glad that it’s not just a me thing 😂😂 like obviously this person has been sewing for a while and it’s still something she has to remind herself of 😂
I've been sewing on a machine since I was about 9 I reckon, and I still forget the stupid little things. My other favourite is forgetting that I've not even threaded up the machine till I reach the end of the *really tricky* seam 😂 It's worse when I'm filming because my mind is on what I'm going to do next, not on what I'm doing at the time, c x
I am making a bunch of these for a dog rescue group and this pattern is PERFECT! We use them for the dogs to wear at adoption events, in colours that match the sweatshirts that volunteers wear. Thanks heaps for a great explanation!
We foster dogs in Puerto Rico before they fly to NY, NJ, Maine, to be adopted. It's a beautiful experience. I already cut the different size patterns but don't know how long to make the ties for the different sizes
this is lovely - your instructions are so clear, your delivery is so soothing and the finished product is gorgeous. thank you for sharing your knowledge and process with us! ❤️
Love this! My 8 year old wanted to make dog bandanas to sell and this is by far the easiest tutorial I found for her to follow. The simple tips for newbies were really helpful to her as well (like not pulling on the fabric, and not sewing with your presser foot up). Thank you!
I made one of your bandanas and noticed you were using your scissors for the points and turning the straps. I use a chop stick, gets it done in seconds. The bandana is awesome.
Due to the evil covid19, I am making a mask for my friend's 22 yr old daughter who is mad about her dog. This doggie bandana will be a PERFECT complement to her mask She lives in Manhattan so definitely needs something to cheer her up. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this. I'm about to embark (pardon the pun) on making 50 of these for my local shelter in fluro yellow. ADOPT ME + shelter logo will then be printed on. This pattern is perfect and the straps look so classy. I use the pointy end of a chopstick to push through to get a precise "point".
Hi from Australia. I made a bear stuffing stick which makes a great strap turner from a wooden chopstick which I sharpened slightly with a pencil sharpener, but not pointy shap. I enjoyed your tutorial thank you
Thank you for a wonderfully informative tutorial! I'm new to sewing and I'm learning from my sister-in-law and now from your channel :) I purchased an easy to use Brother sewing machine but I'm still a bit intimated since I'm mostly a hand sewer. This is an easy project I think I could accomplish on my own. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Love that! Teenage Daughter use to fill my Cushions when she was young... can't get her to tidy her room now never mind 'turn out straps 😂. Very Good, Easy to follow Great tutorial Thanks
If you want an easy way to add the pompom trim, pin it to the right side of one fabric, with the pom part facing away from the edge. Baste it in place. Place the second piece of fabric right side together and pin in place, sew the bottoms of the triangle together. Leave the trim a bit short at the top so you can turn the edges in like in the tutorial. It may take some practice to do, sewing is like that. Happy sewing!
I have been watching bandana videos for hours and am so pleased to have come across yours! I love the idea of the extra straps, and with your great instructions I might give it a go myself!
I know this video is old but a suggestion is to use a pencil to help you get the point of your straps out when turning the pieces. It makes it so easy and quick
My dog really has no shame. He unabashedly sniffs peoples pockets (and crotches) in the hunt for treats. He also barks really loudly in my ear when I'm driving and we pass an interesting looking dog! c x
Thank you, this is great. Just a suggestion, I use chopsticks to point out my corners, they are more rounded than scissors so less likely to push through.
Thank you, glad you liked it. We wont reflim the video now but a pompom border is easily attached with a line of small running stitch. Simply pin the braid 5mm up from the hem and ensure you turn under about 1cm at the end of the trim to prevent it fraying, c x
Great video! Exactly what I needed for a custom order this week Amazed you said March and im watching 3yrs later in March 😅 Subscribed for sure! Thank you!
You sound like you've got a good singing voice; that ever-so-slightly husky quality singers often have. Although your accent is different from hers, when you speak you remind me of Sandy Denny.
This was such a great tutorial! Could you make a video on making a hair scarf and/or scrunchies? Would love to make a matching dog bandanna and owner accessories!
hi i loved your video what would the measurements be for a larger dog? and the ties? i made this one a it turned out great but i want to make one for my pit bull
I think your best bet would be to measure the circumference of your dog's neck (eg 60cm) make the diagonal side of the bandana half of this (eg 30cm, so the straight sides would be about 22cm) and then each tie half the circumference (eg 30cm). You want it comfortable without it flapping about too much, c x
It's tricky because I only have a medium sized dog to measure! You don't want the triangle too big, probably the long side being two thirds of the dog's neck circumference. The ties can be made a little longer to help the fit, c x
I always see it in video tutorials and I can't seem to do the same.... how can you sew until the edge of the fabric with the machine? It's around 2:04. Or are my eyes just fooling me? I'm a super beginner in using the sewing machine, by the way.
The bit you've referred to, I just line the edge of the fabric up with the right hand side of the foot and keep it straight as it sews. The grippy metal machine dogs under the foot should keep your fabric straight as you sew, if your fabric doesn't stay straight just check that the dogs haven't accidentally been put in the down position. There should be a lever under the machine bed, c x
You could, you would have to enlarge it so there's enough weight for it to drape without pointy bits sticking out at the sides. Alternatively I have done a chemo cap demo that you can see here - ua-cam.com/video/M_Lj0biKGMg/v-deo.html c x

They way you put your pins in blew my mind for some ready so fast so easy
Haha, do I do it weirdly? c x
Chopsticks work real well for poking the corners out.
I am making a bunch of these for a dog rescue group and this pattern is PERFECT! We use them for the dogs to wear at adoption events, in colours that match the sweatshirts that volunteers wear. Thanks heaps for a great explanation!
So glad it helped Sharon. My beautiful dog is a rescue so all your help for your group is much appreciated, c x

Thank you, this is great. Just a suggestion, I use chopsticks to point out my corners, they are more rounded than scissors so less likely to push through.

You sound like you've got a good singing voice; that ever-so-slightly husky quality singers often have. Although your accent is different from hers, when you speak you remind me of Sandy Denny.
Ha ha, think it's ever so slightly husky because I talk too much! Do like a good old singalong in the car though! c x
LOVE the video...So easy to follow. THANKS
Great tutorial❤ thanks a lot😊
Very cute. 😊😊😊

Thanks Claudia. If you have a look over on Sewist Channel (round black and white logo) I've done a couple of scrunchie demos there, c x
The Crafts Channel Going to look now! 💗
Can you add a link to the sewist channel? I'm having trouble finding it. Great video!
Super❤thank you so much🎉
Thanks for this easy to understand tutorial! I was surprised at my own work! :D

Very nice, I love it 😀
I loved this. Could you please list fabric measurements for smaller and larger dogs?
It's tricky because I only have a medium sized dog to measure! You don't want the triangle too big, probably the long side being two thirds of the dog's neck circumference. The ties can be made a little longer to help the fit, c x
you could use a knitting needle to get the points crisp
Yes, as long as your fabric is a decent tight weave. I'm a bit enthusiastic and have a habit of pushing straight through with a knitting needle! c x
This can be so versatile and I made one for my dog and now I am making one for my friends cat😁
Magnifique 👏💖
thank you very much for share this video
What a great tutorial, thank you!
This is very cool thank you!!
I always see it in video tutorials and I can't seem to do the same.... how can you sew until the edge of the fabric with the machine? It's around 2:04. Or are my eyes just fooling me? I'm a super beginner in using the sewing machine, by the way.

How cute!! I’m doggy sitting and this will be perfect to make for them.
If the collar doesn't fit through, would a dog owner be happy buy a collar to fit in? I am making some of these but not sure on collar widths?
This type of bandana doesn't have the collar threaded through it. It is completely separate and ties at the back, c x
Great! Gonna do that for my project
Ha! I AM WATCHING IN MARCH!!!
See? I'm psychic!!! c x
Hello. So beautiful, how did you attach the blue facing on the colorful fabric. Thank you 🙏🏼
Do you mean the pompom trim? It was just oversewn by hand, c x
The Crafts Channel 👋🏼 hi. Yes, the pompón trim. Thank you 😊

Lindas bandanas!!! Amei, obrigada por compartilhar conosco😘
Could I use this same process to make head kerchief with tie ends? I have a guy friend with cancer. Thank you!
You could, you would have to enlarge it so there's enough weight for it to drape without pointy bits sticking out at the sides. Alternatively I have done a chemo cap demo that you can see here - ua-cam.com/video/M_Lj0biKGMg/v-deo.html c x
