In terms of utility and movement set, I find it extremely appalling to discover that Dragunov is so significantly weaker when compared to Paul Phoenix. both Paul and Dragunov have a strong wall carry, grab & tackle game. both have a below average low attacks
However, Paul has the following things dragunov doesn't have;
Safe DF2
Classic Hopkick
Magic 4
Multiple Power crush options
Effective Evasive movements
Guaranteed follow up damage on Counter Hit low (QCF 3 into D4,2, 1+2)
Above average wall damage.
Dragunov has his WR2 but this is no longer trackable on sidesteps.
I completely agree that Dragunov is a really cool character design and all, but how does JDCR even justify continue playing Dragunov if Paul is consistently the superior pick?
how does Bandai Namco even justify this kind of character balance?
JDCR mained dragunov for a long time and he has super vast knowledge of almost every situation. With that much knowledge, any charecter he picked would be a killing machine in his hands. End of the day, Rangchu won TWT with Panda, everything is strong in capable hands. If a charecter has more tools, they must have some tradeoffs (Paul's df/1 is i14 that is why). Every charecter has weakness, we are not in Leroy era for most part. Good luck.

@@sukalyanmajumdar1196 I mean i understand the whole concept of tier list being just a perceived level of strength and i m aware that he's been a drag main for a while now (since back when he was top tier). but still the level of difference between the two characters is ridiculous
@@tre-moon-dous6122 Paul is also considered more of a well rounded beginner's character than Dragunov. He gets more reward on his mixups than Dragunov does, but most of those mixups are a bit riskier. Dragunov is armed with a lot of safe pokes, but lacks in knockdowns, fast CH launchers, and is fairly linear. Low risk, but low reward.
