Bernard Herrmann - the greatest, multi-everything composer ever. This "Main Theme" showcases his absolute command of writing for any instrument (in contrast to, say, the String Orchestral "Psycho, Main Theme", which is still untouched in its rhythmic ferocity AND balance...plus, the Pizzicato composition/work, BRAVO!).
As a Percussionist obviously into rhythm theory, I may be a bit biased in swapping Herrmann and Bernstein #1 & #2, but can it be helped?
Highly recommend listening (or a tribute here!) to his final "intact" score of Larry Cohen's "It's Alive", 1974 (though, still uncertain about the use of electric Bass and a Synthesizer🤔). Based on several factors, it sounds as if little money was allotted for the absolute best playing talent, but the score is a pure, undistilled walk through Herrmann's (and our own) emotional depths, and the film is passionately acted by John P. Ryan and Sharon Farrell, with Cohen writing/directing a script that was filled with important social/emotional commentary. WB botched the initial release, but, after reorganization, the film was re-released with effective marketing and became a hit. The sequels and remake of the original were horrible aside from Laurie Johnson's excellent Conducting/reworking/additions to Herrmann's original score for "It Lives Again", which, interestingly, was recorded in Quad.
Thank You, HD Film Tributes! Tip soon.

MAGNIFIQUE ! GRANDIOSE !

This was very inspired by Jean Sibelius’ symphony #1.

That’s interesting. Do you mean „hard inspiration“ like in some cases of James Horner’s works in the 80ies and 90ies or „soft inspiration“ just in tone, orchestration and compositional style? I just rushed through a youtube video of Jean Sibelius‘ „Symphony No. 1“ and could not find any similar melodies, but I really was rushing. Could you please be so kind and add any further hints? I’d appreciate it. One thing I’d like to add: IMHO we could call ourselves lucky if we’d spot any kind of inspiration on this level of expertise in today’s mainstream movie production. Sorry, on year too late.
