RIP sakamoto ryuichi
1952-2023
Rest in peace Ryuichi Sakamoto
A legend who will never be forgotten. Such a great composer
This film and music has been in my life for nearly 40 years. It has been a quiet emotional and spiritual support in dark times. Such outstanding talents combining stunningly in a very moving and deeply evocative story. We lost Davis Bowie, and now Ryuichi Sakamoto. Blessings and rest in peace to both.. thank you so so much.
Well said!
May they rest in peace and be praise for giving us this masterpiece.
Me, too.......I never forgot it.
RIP, Ryuichi Sakamoto. Thank you for your music and your acting. You will be missed.
I'm still crying when I listen to this music and it comes to my mind how this movie affected me. A fundamental film, not for weak hearts.
My Gramdpa had a pacemaker and loved this film so...
One of my top 5 movies! Many people don't even get this film.
It is time to remember it once again.
@@deadvodka Yes...
This movie is always had a special place in my heart since I watched it at 17. David Bowie was an insanely talented and creative man. I think him and Ryuichi Sakamoto played off each other wonderfully. This will always be one of my favorite movies.
IVE ALWAYS ADMIRED JAPANESE CULTURE AND THE PEOPLE. THIS MOVIE WAS VERY WELL MADE AND THE IDEA OF CULTURE CLASH IS MORE THAN REALISTIC. I DIDNT KNOW ANY OF THIS BEFORE. UNLESS YOU WERE IN THE PRISONERS SHOES NO ONE ELSE KNEWEITHER.
@@melodefidler2084 Why are you shouting?
I just recalled this movie.....my brother always told we must see it and when it aired we were glued to the screen and it became a memorable movie both me and my late brother shared.
THIS MOVIE WAS MADE 39 YEARS AGO, BUT IT STILL HAS THE SAME EMOTIONAL ELEMENTS . ALL THESE YEARS LATER THE MUSIC REVERBETATES THROUGH YOU. AMAZING MOVIE
How old are you now?
I turned 40 in January. I am a huge BTS fan (Army), and it was through Yoongi a.k.a Suga of BTS that I learned anout Ryuichi Sakamoto! Now I am curious to know what this movie is about. 😢
RIP Ryuichi , thank you for the incredible music.
Film is a masterpiece. You will cry. Not so long after WWII. barely 38 years. Japan never spoke about the war. Lived there 10 years. Half nations men dead ~ more ~ children ~ how primitive are we still.~ look at Syria ~ look at Lebanon ~ millions of lives lost ~ even the words in the song of "Forbiden Colors". ~ still happening ~ Nothing learned. ⚰️🗡️😭 ~
People can't change, we are doomed to repeat history forever, until we wipe ourselves into extinction.
A fitting end to an imperfect species.
Huh. I came across the song in high school, immediately fell in love with it. Always thought it was just some obscure song dedicated to a beloved music teacher or something. Never realized it was a movie.
RIP Sakamoto Ryuichi 😢
Still rips my heart to pieces after 38 yrs
Thank you very much and rest in Peace Ryuichi Sakamoto San. Your musics have healed my soul.
A film witch made a great impression on me.
RIP David RIP Ryuichi.
Merry Christmas Mr Sakamoto and may you rest in peace, your contribution to humanity will live forever.
Really a sad time to Lose great actors and a great composer like Ryuichi Sakamoto we first lost David Bowie now him , his scores on Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and Last Emperor was an important part of my younger years especially with David Sylvian in Forbidden Colours, which is a song that i never grew tired of and always found it soothing but the best we can do is admire this masterpiece of a film and its music. Thank you for your passionate work Ryuichi Sakamoto-san
Always recognized the song but didn’t know about the movie. RIP Ryuichi
This movie was/is misunderstood by too many. The ethereal quality of the music mirrors the depth and complexity of the movie.
Rest in peace Ryuichi Sakamoto 💔
This is my favorite movie score….. it’s so hauntingly beautiful…. I could listen to it endlessly
RIP Mr. Sakamoto
"They were all honorable men, but oh what deeds could be done in the name of honor."
gave me chills
For many years, I would watch this movie... His music was haunting and beautiful! Thank you for everything Ryuichi... May you R.I.P... You will be very missed 💚🙏💐
I’m crying watching this trailer 😭
Rest in peace, Sakamoto and Bowie, and all the others who came to pass and colour the world of humanity😢
masterpiece, the most beautiful soundtrack I've ever heard Takeshi Kitano fantastic
R.I.P Ryuichi Sakamoto
Merry Christmas Mr.Sakamoto
A scathing criticism by a director of his own country’s history and culture. Not many people are willing do that. Especially in a country like Japan where the education system actively ignores atrocities and war crimes.
(´・ω・`)
sounds like the country i live in.
That melody is very touching and moving for whatever reason. It has a sad feel about it but also beautiful. I never heard of the movie.
Yes The Germans acknowledged their past ., The Japanese have national amnesia
Yes, because the West certainly has made up for its crimes, Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Vietnam, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan ++++ to name a few. Mankind will never move one inch forward as longs as it doesn’t move past hypocrisy and unprincipled moral judgement. And as we can observe it doesn’t.
You have to watch the film within the context of Laurens van Der Post's book, "The Seed and the Sower" to fully understand the motion picture.
Ryuichi Sakamoto & David Sylvian made the best soundtrack ever
R. I. P. Mr. Sakamoto
Safe travels, maestro Sakamoto

Forbidden Colors, the title theme song is the most enduring aspect of this film. The movie was good. David Bowie played his role well.
