I would say Cima is the best Gundam antagonist period. Half the antagonists in Gundam are just char knock offs anyway and even char is overrated. By the end char was just another genocidal mass murdering fanatic with delusions of grandeur. At least Cima was never delusional, she saw both zeon and the earth federation for the corrupt dystopias that they really were and called them both out. She was a murderer and a traitor but she was less hypocritical than char and most Gundam villians.
@@jakepel3117 While I VERY much am a Cima fan, she would likely end up number 2 on my list. But, it is a close second to Rustal Elion. While Cima is everything you described, Rustal is an utterly brilliant, ruthless and pragmatic commander. He even wins in the end, and all of this while never getting into a Mobile Suit.

I think anyone would become a maniac after being tricked into committing one of the worst war crimes in human history. She and her unit basically gassed an entire colony cylinder and murdered millions based on a lie that it was tear gas they were deploying.
Despite Kou being one of the worst Gundam protagonists, the way he kills Cima is just amazing. Almost made me like Kou. Also, Cima may have been a backstabber but Zeon stabber her in the back first.
