- The wild stoats living in Ash Wood are mesmerising as they scale trees, scurry along paths and hunt animals twice their size. With the help of cameras hidden in this woodland I've captured their individual stories.

ABOUT THIS FILM
____________________
Stoats (Mustela erminea)
Known as short-tailed weasels in the US, stoats are common animals, but thanks to their secrecy and speed, they are difficult to spot. My hidden cameras offer a rare opportunity to follow their wild and secret lives.
Fearless
Although small in stature, stoats are fearless. Watch as the wild stoats in Ash Wood take on squirrels, rats, and even a buzzard! (For US readers this bird is similar to your hawk)
And playful
But although these animals are formidable hunters, they also have a playful side. Just watch as one scampers from tree to tree, just for the fun of it!
Stoats of Ash Wood
There are many stoats in Ash Wood, including an ermine (which has the capacity to turn white in winter), but I have identified two main characters: a dominant male and female - identifiable by the white spots around her nose. I'm hoping this means we get kits to follow this year!
Ash Wood
Ash wood is a wildlife habitat I developed specifically to attract wildlife. (Learn more: www.robertefuller.com/diary/t...)

I can't even comprehend how many cameras you must have established for this video alone. Keep up the good documenting. The mustelids are my favorites and you've got a bounty of adorable footage for the little guys.
Stoats have extremely cute buns !
That flipping and turning! The parkour champion of the woodland.
The stoat jump scaring the pheasant oh my word! 🤣
So cute I love stoats, he is certainly a cheeky chap and a few near misses catching prey and being the prey, he was pushing his luck with the buzzard.
Several close calls with the buzzard 😳 so thankful the little stoat found a new spot to feed . Wonderful Film , thank you 😊
Thank you too!
That was a “stoatally” awesome video…sorry I had to do it 😆
What great footage of them, I always look forward to seeing them on stream 😀
The pheasant's reaction to the stoat whizzing away at the end made me laugh out loud, such ridiculous birds :)
Totally ridiculous.
Oh that female is so pretty! Love her fur pattern.
The music choice was a nice touch
There"s always something to be observed and enjoyed when watching stoats. Looking forward to babies this spring. What fun that will be!
What a happy and brave little stoat. . Hope he and ms stoat get together. She'd be in for a fun time, like we were! Excellent video, Thanks Robert ☀️
Stoats are fierce! They go for much bigger prey than I expected.
I like how pheasant go"woah"
Baby season is upon us. Lots of baby bunnies and birds coming in to the rescue. Wonderful footage
Love stoats so glad you put up a feeding station HATS to see Mr Tough guy become food for someone else Nature or not❤
6:20 poor pheasant XD
Who knew such a cute, small mustelid would have such a bold outlook and personality in that tiny body. Looking forward to potential kits
They are full of mischief and fun
thank you for the letter robert!!!!!
No problem 😉
I’m going send another soon. 😄
I love the stoats! Badgers will always be my favorite, but stoats are a close second!
I love them both too, tho sometimes I feel like they are the bad guys because of RedWall 😅 how could they be?
@@lisaenglert3202 Flinky was a stoat, he left the vermin life, and tooks some mates with him to find a peaceful life.
These are my favorite vids. Both of my feral rescues returned and decided my house is theirs. Building them some cat houses now. Thanks for the motivation!
I DO LOVED STOATS !!!
Brillian adding in new feeding places on ground level. Let's hope the male and female join up soon. Always enjoy the streams and videos! I've spread the word about you here in the USA to family and friends. Thank you, Robert!
Awesome!!! Thank you
Watching that little male stoat was so much fun. Do you suppose he just might have some extra energy stored up inside. Those little guys are fast. I'm glad the stoats are making it out of extinction. That would be a terrible loss to the world.
Thank you so very much for this beautiful video. I loved every second.
A few close calls there! Brilliant video, thanks Robert for sharing your wonderful wildlife world with us all, I just LOVE IT! I’m currently on a mission to watch every SINGLE video you’ve ever uploaded because I’m learning so so much, with a 👍🏻 for every single one too of course 😊. Thank you for helping so much wildlife and teaching so many humans, we all appreciate it very much xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
One of the best videos!!!
Thank you so much - glad that you enjoyed it.
I LOVED watching the male fip, run, & twist!! He is quite the character! I'm going to watch the lives to see if I can see him. THANK you for putting up 2 feeding stations for him to protect him from becoming buzzard food!!😳😄💕💕💞💞
Glad you enjoyed it 😃
Him running with the bird 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So interesting to get a glimpse of a stoat's world and close up views of buzzard stunning!
Glad that you enjoyed watching my video
Stoats are my favourite animal and you're one of the only people who covers them so publicly and so well. Please never stop doing what you do
Thank you Robert for making such beautifull video's. I love them. Have an amazing day!
I love watching the Soats.
LOL’d at his little belly flop! Thanks for putting in feeding stations where he’ll be safer❣️
They are so interesting! A few years ago a video went around that showed a stoat on the back of a flying bird. People thought it was “cute”! I’m not sure how the encounter ended but I doubt that the bird thought it was cute!
The Pheasant is hilarious
Hang on ? That cute little thing wants to eat a squirrel? Oh lord my pure love for animals can’t handle the troubles of life in the wild, it’s not easy.💗
He might look cute but he is a fierce predator who has excellent hunting skills.
Event since I read Brian Jacques' Redwall series, I always wondered what stoats looked like. I didn't know how cute they were! What a wonderful channel! I finally get to see British wild animals!
Thanks 😊 stoats are amazing to study and film ! one of the most difficult though
It was an absolute pleasure to watch this fantastic video. There is so much going on outside our doors 😃 My personal highlight was the little owl (from 2:40) it was so impressive with the threatening gestures 😄 Still my favorite owl, they are so expressive 🤓 Thanks for sharing 👍
He is quite a rascal!
Always rewarding to see more closely into the action-packed world of stoats. Thank you for bringing us such a brilliantly rich diversity of wildlife to see and feast upon!

Another exceptional show from Mr.
Fuller!!! Always enjoy every one! Very educational and always with the added touches!! 🙂
Loved this vid, Robert, you're a master of camera placement. I can't believe the footage you get.
Thanks I’ve had a lot of experience fitting cameras and making nests there are plenty of failures and fustians but when it comes together it’s worth it
Very beautiful
Stoats are such powerful little creatures, acting like animals five times their size.
So gorgeous!
This jump in the water was pretty funny xd
What a wonderful, nimble little animal it is! I congratulate you on the fantastic photographs that tell of these versatile encounters of the stoat. I enjoyed looking at them very much and send warm greetings from Germany!👍👍👍🌲🌲🌲

That male pheasant was beautiful.
These little stats are definitely frisky and full of mischief. Giving the squirrel a bit of a run. Bouncy. I never saw one like this on footage carrying on. 💞
I agree 100% they are fantastic to watch.
It's probably good you gave out food for the Stoat, that bird is really close to catching him.
Cheers Bob, yet another top video. You have taste. (Border terrier).👍

Probably one of my favourite videos this, I can't believe how agile and quick they are
I'm very happy to see such cute stoats.
Gotta love a stoat👍♥️
So acrobatic very cool to watch 💛
Amazing animals, aren't they?
00:28 Haha!! So funny!
Rob, I've been following stoats as well, but I've never seen one in real live, other than the two little furs that I have, and most videos and pictures don't show the real anatomy of their size, how big their mouths are, I first thought that their mouths were little slits in the front but after closer inspection of your videos which are the most detailed I get some anatomy of the little critters, their mouths sorta go behind their eye, their heads are sorta finger and 2/3rds fingerlenth width, measure from the tip of your middle finger to the middle of your forearm nose to tail. Thanks for posting, I'm trying real hard to learn about them and you're making it a little easier
They are fascinating animals to watch. I have raised a number of rescue kits so have been able to watch their behaviour as they grow.
Fantastic.
Absolutely adorable!
sou do Brasil, adoro seus vídeos. Quando me mudar para uma fazenda, no próximo ano, irei fazer gravações assim por aqui.
5:03----I wish I could move like that!
😂😂What an adorable video! Omgosh that was so fun to watch🥰 Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching and your kind support 😁
We also like squirrels. Any squirrel family in the neighborhood?
There are several grey squirrels but no red squirrels 🐿 in these parts
I just adore these furry little rascals! Stout Zoomies?! wow just amazing :D wish we has these in Canada to watch :)
Thank you for sharing all these incredible videos! I love them
Thanks for watching so please you enjoy my channel
Stoats are so bad ass. I'm glad to know they'll be around to repopulate the earth after we destroy ourselves, and evolve into bipedal Mustelidus Erectus. Jokes aside, fantastic BBC worthy photography and editing work, Robert.
2:40
Owlet: *dial-up noises*
Stoat: Understandable, have a nice day.
