I actively laughed out loud seeing how you drew all of those ships and the finished product only shows a fraction of the work. That's some real dedication to getting everything to look right! I salute you!

0:36 crazy how one frame of Odysseus turns into a whole sequence of him walking to the front of the ship, it’s amazing!! The amount of care and time you put into these animatics is incredible

Oh hey, shimeji!! Those are Penlope and Odysseus, right?
But seriously, I really do love these looks into your thoughts. Having the 'right-hand' and 'left-hand' characters show up always to the right and left of Odysseus is an _awesome_ detail, artistically and narratively, and I wish I had realised it in the animatic itself! I also love the way you had him literally reach for home with his whole body - a lot of thought goes into the visual storytelling (or you're just subconsciously talented that way), and I love it all.
Also your friend might be having heart attacks but the smooth movements from moving the camera around are still worth it in the end, imo.

I think the sequence you did for “it’s what lies in between” is my favorite part of this animatic. I just love the way the images sync up with the lyrics, and the way it previews some of the major obstacles in Odysseus’s journey. I mean, I love the whole animatic but that section in particular is just… it really hits me 👌👌👌

I love how you drew polyties with glasses even though time period wise they wouldn't have those. Fun fact the Archers during that time would be those positions because they had the better sight to see them further away and shoot better.

SEE THIS IS WHAT I MEANT LAST TIME!! There's so much thought and effort put into these, and it just wonderful to see how you got to the final version. And the "hidden" details?! I kid you not, I went back to the "Polyphemus" and "Remember Them" animatics - especially at 2:08, I wanted to be 100% sure I got it right - just to see the scenes with this newfound information. It makes me emotional just watching them all over again. (THEY SWITCHED PLACES, I--)
I really hope you'll continue doing these behind the scene videos in the future, if you do more epic animations (or any other animatics for that matter)!

      @@WolfyTheWitch that's great, thanks!
There are already pretty good tutorials out there, but they usually show a combination or a drawing program and a video editing program
I'm just wondering, how different is the process in toonboom (I think that was what you use?), since it's an animation program, and just seeing your personal process would be very interesting
In case anyone is wondering, here are some of the tutorials I mentioned:
