song: Warrior of the Mind by Jorge Herrans - Фільми й анімація
okay but Odysseus high-fiving himself after being left hanging is so cute
2:32 it’s adorable
If you go for a high five and get left hanging, you have to. Thems the rules
In all the animation of this he never gets a high five back
@@037xD_not_sure He gets a high five in the one made by damia. It's very well done you should check it out.
@@037xD_not_sure There's actually an animatic I saw where Athena returns it! Its so cute!!!
This was phenomenal. I like the scene with Odysseus looking at his reflection. He doesn't recognize himself. Like Athena said, he's changing from how she designed him so it was fun to see her become that reflection to take him into the mind state. I like how you replicated ancient Greek art. Again with Athena towering over him, its to remind us shes a goddess thus larger than life. Amazing
Evillious :3
@@eclipseclckwrks3420 yep my friend :)
I love how massive all the gods are, honestly. Jay has said that he pictures them being around 9 or 10 feet tall, and their eyes have no pupils or irises, just the sclera, and they glow faintly white. I love that in his mind, the gods are not *trying* to pass for mortals, so they do nothing to hide their Otherness. 😊
It's insane how in a 3 mintue animation you can show the contrast from the carefree and hopeful, young Odysseus and then his older self already being more stiff and thoughtful. And I love how you showed how Athena changed too, even her being a goddess she seemed "happier" with young Odysseus., and almsot more friendly. I love your art and your portral of these characters!!
Well said! Both of them seem brighter here- it’s before he’s faced the worst of his journey (or even journeyed at all) and it’s cool to see the difference
Yes! And this translates perfectly into My Goodbye when Odysseus says how she's alone. She loved Odysseus when he was younger like a friend and they looked very close but of course her being a god they're relationship is different, when Odysseus says she's alone later it hits so much harder because how they were here
What I adore about it is that you still see glimmers of that friendship when they're older in this animatic.
Athena's expression at Odysseus when she talks about the magical boar "only the best could kill" feels very subtly like "I wonder who I could be referring to, eh Odysseus?"
And his smile back at her feels like "Yeah, I was pretty good back then."
The friendship is still there, it's mired under so much grief, anger, hopelessness and disappointment.
Athena was always kind of a hard ass in the myths to be honest
@@tumblingartistWhat're you talking about? Athena did not change, the attitude of the goddess to the hero reflects Athena's expectations: in the beginning she saw the potential, in the end the result
The lyrics to this implies that Athena sees Odysseus as less of a 'student' and more as her own property. Like, seriously, just listen to the opening, "I see you changing from how I *designed* you." "Have you forgotten your *purpose,* let me remind you." And honestly, that's a little bit terrifying...
It's also completely fair, because Greek gods aren't simply people whom are immensely powerful, but the very forces of nature given personalities. what Athena says is, when one considers what she truly is, not at all derogatory. In fact, being "designed" by the goddess of wisdom, why who would see that as anything but something to be proud of?
Agree with the guy above me, but yes. Mildly terrifying. Par for the course when playing god
That's a greek God for you
@tylermech66 my thoughts exactly lol
Like "Well welcome to Greek Gods" 😅
It could also implie that Athena doesn’t open up well to people especially when you hear in the song Goodbye it hurt when Odysseus called her out on being alone. I get the impression this Athena is all about business and she probably wasn’t ready to bound with Odysseus like that especially if she is not sure if he would last seeing is how her teachings would be very strict and he expectations would be high. But so far from what I’ve seen with this musical she was warming up to him and after there fight she’s still is going out of her way to help Odysseus by convincing the gods to release him. Even got mad and a little unhinged when Ares said that Odysseus was weak as his son and defends him and tells Ares to hold his tongue and that she considers his son her friend.
The self-high five makes me feel like he took it as if Athena was going to eventually accept him as a friend and that's why he so calmly let it pass, poor kid
AND SUCH AN AMAZING ANIMATIC IT'S BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I mean she said "we see where it ends" which indeed implies that she considers this a possibility in the future.
@@ShonicheckOoh, THIS MAKES HER SO INTERESTING
Okay but the way that Odysseus is the first one to do the “warrior of the mi-i-i-i-i-ind thing at 2:49 and Athena instantly adopts it next time they say warriors of the mind, and then in my good bye athena uses the same tune at the end when she says this is my goodbye hits me in the most snsjjsndbdb place like they were so close
I can hear it!
I NEVER NOTICED THIS DETAIL
Goodbye makes me sob so hard 😭
my delulu brain is saying they’ll make up,,. right? RIGHT?
but only the first time... she uses it and then the second time she says "this is my goodbye" it's just the high note she held for the beginning of this song 😭
@@steveyouraveragehamster9383 They do in the original Odyssey, at least. At the very end when Odysseus and his family are going to be murdered by the father and men of the slain suitors, Athena shows up with Big Papa Zeus and protects Odysseus and his family. ^^
1:56 - That face
Like he's going "oh shit that worked"
FR XD
Me tho I would have died from the shock
OMG I just realised... She sings "well done, enlighten me what's your name" but I always thought she sang "well done, you lied to me, what's your name.... Please tell me I wasn't the only one hahaha
Your not
Wait what
Your not, it's definitely intentional
Same!
I did to😅
THAT WATER SCENE?! The one right after aswell with the tapestries, this is incredible
This!! Esp with the mirrored poses both being claustrophobic in a different way. In this vid, it's due to the framing, with Athena's pose being juuuuust cropped out causing it to feel like she's whispering the command in his ear. The very epitome of "gentle reminder(threat).
In "my goodbye", Athena's full body (upper torso, semantics) is hunching over Odysseus, a direct action to convey her condescension and disappointment towards his actions.
I personally see the differences in each pose as being reflective of Odysseus' view of Athena. More specifically, where the first pose is cropped, he's still in his "Athena is a friend". My Goodbye's mirrored pose is when Odysseus is disillusioned to their relationship and is fully seeing that Athena, a God, will never show him the empathy a friend would give his grief (and subsequent rash behavior).
THE LEG!!!!! It's the first time I see someone draw this song and reference to the scar Odysseus has on his leg bc of the fight with the boar!! The fact you even extended that detail to his leg giving out on him while he was talking to Athena later!!! And the fact Athena has the story registered in tapestry!!! And also this depicts maybe my favorite dynamic between them, with Athena being just as cheeky as him!!!
It's really cool to see the improvement since you started to animate to this musical, the angles and composition here are so neat
One very subtle detail I adore is the glance Athena and Odysseus share at "A magical boar only the best could kill". I love how Athena glances at Odysseus and gives him a look of like
"Wow, I wonder who I could be referring to when I say 'the best'."
And Odysseus gives her a slight smile back, sort of like
"Yeah, I was pretty good back then."
It's wonderful because its a subtle moment of teasing between two old friends, Athena trying to help build Odysseus back up by reminding him of his old glory, and finally it cements the overall theme of this song, the wonder and hope of Odysseus' early life under Athena's mentorship that's absent now.
I was looking if someone mentioned it! It’s such a powerful, bittersweet almost, moment, that made it feel almost like Athena was actively choosing not to show emotion, and Odysseus was inviting even that moment of a smile and how much it lightened his composure
Athena’s face being devoid of most detail, except eyes mouth and eyebrows, gives me the impression shes like a living statue, or that the form she presents to mortals isnt as important as her message/mission. If it was intentional than its a fantastic choice!
2:32 Love how in practically every animatic has Athena leaving Odysseus hanging on that high five (Also- Odysseus high fiving himself xD)
Out of all the warrior of the mind animatics I've watched, this one has the most detailed uhm cinematography shall i call it; it's like watching a movie. From beginning to end I'm so captivated by the angles, the expressions and the way of storytelling. And omg is that Eumeaus? See, you really put your heart into those characters and I can't help but be exited by the little details like Athena without her helmet or the my goodbye reference pose. Thank you for this!!
Autolycus and Laertes!
2:02 i like to think that she obviously didn't fell for it, but just went along since he is so smart and cunning 😂😊
I don't think it's that she "fell for it", more that she was actually questioning him and in doing so revealed herself. Like when someone tells you something so improbable and you can't help but argue, and in doing so reveal more information.
I literally just learnt that the lyric isn’t “Well done, you lied to me” it’s “Well done, enlighten me.”
My life is a lie
@@equinox4901 my life is also a lie
@@equinox4901same
The part where she talking about the magic boar is really cool it kinda reminds me of that one scene from the prince of Egypt.
YES!
I really like the fact that Athena can talk through Odysseus's reflection and can fly through window panes!! Also the glyphs just bring out a deeper(we see u did a lot of research!!) and impressive side of Greek mythology!! I love the fact that they're moving too, great job :D
Okay but at 0:56 when they're watching the beginning of the tapestry and remembering what started their journey together and for a moment they smile at each other. I'm crying
I love Odysseus’ expressions during the whole video. And that water transition was WILD. Very well done
OMG ATHENA FLYING THROUGH THE TAPESTRY THAT'S SO CREATIVE
THE HIEROGLYPHS SCENE??? The water/reflection transition??? I also noticed the “foreshadow”/parallel of Athena overlooking Odysseus’s shoulder at the end from your “My Goodbye” animatic. All in all, this entire animatic is so outstanding. I can so clearly see it being full blown animated. I’m losing my mind at how well the quality of your animatics are/are becoming. WELL DONE 👏👏👏
I agree. The art style of the hieroglyphs really reminds me of zero to hero from Hercules.
I will never be able to get over how creative and amazing your animatic choices and designs are lol
They can appear so simple, yet be so effective ^ ^
Knowing basically nothing about Epic, there's something I noticed after listening to this song a few times.
At first, Athena things the 'warrior of the mind' line on a single pitch. When Odysseus joins in, he turns it into a run while she keeps it simple. Then, Athena actually copies *him* and makes it a run to match him as they sing it together. And the last time in the song, she continues the same way, even when she isn't matching him anymore.
I don't know, it was just striking to me. Since she's the emotionless god, it felt like a subtle way of showing that she was learning more emotion from Odysseus.
yeah! ive gotten pretty quickly addicted to Epic and have been listening to the soundtrack on loop
i noticed it just recently - she was the one supposed to mentor him, and sure, he learned to be more tactical and thoughtful from her, but she learned stuff from him about having fun and showing emotion
She doesnt immediately adopt his way of singing, but she adopts it the second time that they sing it in unison, once theyve had time to grow closer
in My Goodbye she tries to save face by acting like her only role in their interactions was that of a teacher, and that he was nothing more than a student even if he wanted to be friends, yet she actively demonstrates *against* that by continuing to use his tune of "mind" far outside of harmonising with him :D
Yeah, thats cause athena is not emotionless without reason, she got her own myths before odyseus. He is another hero to help, another burden. Yes, the gods play with them as toys. But you would cry if your favourite toy broke, would you not?
Have you listened to My Goodbye? That run contrast shows up there too!
dude the way you had athena staring at a tapestry, seeing as she's also a weaver and appreciates the arts... ugh the detail, it's amazing
I love how the scene at 0:50 - 1:00 is in the artstyle of those vase drawing and it's so fluid!!
Also I think it's funny that Athena is using a cloak as a disguise, as if she isn't like 7 ft tall (and the way she lifts him-)
This has to genuinely be one of the best warrior of the mind animatics I've ever seen
Jorge can say it's "Enlighten me" however many times he wants. I still hear it as "You lied to me"
Great job your a liar
Gods, young Odysseus is so precious
Oh! Anyone else notice how the way Athena bends over to speak into Odysseus's ear from behind mirrors her movements in My Goodbye when she bends in and tells him what a waste of him he was?
Every one gather round Wolfy has made another amazing work of art let’s give them and the video all our love ❤❤❤
My favorite things about this video:
1. The "Don't disappoint me" scene being a reflection of the one scene in My Goodbye video.
2. Odysseus's faces at 1:08 and 1:56. They make me laugh so much.
3. The water scene when Odysseus gets seemingly dragged in by his own reflection.
4. Young Odysseus. Look at him. He's a little baby man. I love it.
Oh I LOVE 0:55 when Athena and Odysseus give a lil smile to each other 😭
Also the choosing mural as the carrier of expression was marvellous. Great job Wolfy!!
The part 2:58 where Athena fly through the paintings and tapestries was such a talented idea😭😭 I'm crying for the last bit.
Absolutely incredible as always Wolfy. Odysseus meeting Athena for the first time seriously warmed my heart T-T You made it just as playful as I imagined. Also that self high five was hilarious
Amazing ❤ Using traditional Ancient Greek art was a super cool touch when Athena told the story of how she spotted Odyssesus' potential. And lol young Odyssesus high-fiving hinself was adorable 😂
For new Odyssey enjoyers- the scar he got from the boar ends up identifying him as the King of Ithaca after 20 years of being presumed dead
Wolfy, omg- this is amazing, the replica of the Ancient Greek art?! That was phenomenal, the scene of the reflection on the water, the entire mind scape?! The way little Odysseus was filled with hope? And how he is now tired?! Not recognising himself neither in the painting nor his reflection? ATHENA?! ATHENA WITH LITTLE ODYSSEUS?! THIS IS BEAUTIFUL-
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I can't even begin to explain everything I loved about it. The parallels between Odysseus in all the different stages of his life are incredible, and I loved the scene at the end where Odysseus was looking at his relfection. Athena going "don't dissapoint me" was CHILLING. incredible job as always
I like how your version of young Odysseus is more playfully and is full of that child like engery. It gives us a little glimpse of his childhood and he is like as a young boy. Instead of just him being a bit cocky that I usually see a lot. He even give himself a high five when Athena refuse to do so XD amazing work as ever!
This is so cool, I love your animatics and storytelling!
1:07 Yo, is that goddamn Autolycus? Because if he is I love the research that went into this, including the leg wound on Odysseus.
Baby Odysseus is so cute, he has not idea he will propose an oath that indirectly contribute to the Trojan war, have to fulfill his godsdamn oath that he couldn't get out of by pretending to go insane, spend like 10 years there, then another 10 years in a series of boats just to get back home
I can't stop looking at 0:52. The way you so accurately depicted black figure pottery art (while still keeping it UA-cam friendly lol) is beautiful. Love it!
That was awesome. Major prince of egypt vibes from the use of the ancient greek fresco at 0:30 !
I think that the reflection between “if you’re looking for a mentor […] best of friends” and in my goodbye the lines “you’re not looking for a mentor and I’m not looking for a friend” Is heartbreaking
I'm screaming over grandpa Autolycus taking care of Ody bxhdjdngnfj this is so sweet TT
And then Anticlea and Laertes welcome them back 🥺
Laertes crowning Ody and then they huuuug
😭😭😭❤️
Also, I love the tapestry(?) of Athena's past (at least that's what I assume it's showing, that particular part being about Odysseus)
Kid Ody with his cool new mentor 🥲 So young. So happy...
That running animation at the beginning tho🤌
Another masterpiece from you, as always ❤
something i don't think i've seen others mention is that odysseus cleverly manages to divert attention from his own name to athena's, even though she never even said it
he immediately latched onto a way to change the subject of the convo from him to athena (rising to her challenge by saying her name then talking about her rep), and i imagine the theatrics with his lil stick also helped to distract her, evident by the fact that she then changes the topic to mentoring him
odysseus managed to trick the goddess of wisdom and tactics TWICE in one conversation, what a guy
I dont know if it was intentional but Odysseus "protecting" his name from the get go nicely parallels protecting his name against the cyclops and I love it nonetheless!
Omg the young Odysseus is so cute. I laughed at him multiple times. Especially him giving himself a little high five. So adorable❤❤❤
It's such a small scene but when Athena takes off her hood and her helmet forms?? Obsessed ❤❤
THIS NEEDS WAY MUCH MORE ATTENTION!!
Athena's design, the expressions, the fricking amazing angles.. Oh god, I can't explain how much I love this.
Absolutely amazing work as always!
THE CONTRAST BETWEEN ALL THE ENERGY AND HOPE HE HAD AT THE BEGINNING WITH ATHENA WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER TO HOW BLEAK HE IS IN THE CURRENT TIME, I’M SO. AHHHHH- WONDERFUL WORK AS ALWAYS WOLFY?! :)
Odysseus: goddesssayswhat
Athena: what?
Odysseus: AHAH-
1:47 is my everything
Love the fact you went to the art style on early pottery to show the flashback before jumping inside of the memory. So creative!
And that owl through the tapestries to the back of the throne tho?? TASTY
We've waited for so long..now it's finaply here! Another great animatic, Wolfy!!
“Have you forgotten to turn off your heart?” Big feels…
I love how the frame at 3:22 works as a call back/pararell to your "My goodbye" animatic. Here, Athena says to Odysseus "Don't desapoint me". Meanwhile that same frame in "My goodbye" is when she got became dissapointed of him, "What a waste of effort spend" (1:54)
Oh my gosh! BABY ODY!!! Autolycus being a proud granddad who then carries injured grandson home??? And the hug between Laertes and Ody!!! 😭And Athena using tapestries as she's the goddes of weaving!! I love it so much!! This is incredibel thank you!
Definitely 10 year old me when I see a random owl watching me
Thank you so much!!! I always loved this song, but never really understood it until now! You're visual storytelling pairs perfectly with the music and makes the emotions, humour, and story so much stronger!!
Not apart of this fandom but I adore your art and the song :)
I don't feel like I've seen it anywhere, but I LOVE Athena's "reveal" when young Odysseus figures her out. It's such a cool transition from hooded woman to badass helmeted goddess
I love how you made Athena so much. She looks almost owl like and this animation just tells you so much about her personality. She can be friendly when she wants to but stern aswell. She also just seemed happier at the beginning
this animatic is so freaking good and him as a boy meeting athena is the cutest thing
Ok. I've completed the playlist. I think this is my fav. Young Odysseus feels so bubbly and energetic and... not traumatized yet. I love him!
guys. i watched the "my goodbye" one first. and am now watching this. im gonna cry
Ppl tend to forget that this is the same Athena in yhe muthos that cursed medusa to be a gorgon despite the the latter was violated by posidon in the goddess's very own temple. She doesn't see Odysseus as an equal nor a studet, but a pet to deliver her own whims in his stead
True. But technically speaking, Medusa's power did allow her to protect herself. And I heard the power seems to affect men only in some versions. Was Athena really cursing her ?
I like the part when Athena appears and he’s oh sheeeeeeeeeet
I loooooooooove your Athena, and the way you draw Athena and Odysseus interacting. (Baby Odysseus was so cute!!)
I love how you included that Odysseus got injured on the leg on the hunt for the boar.
I will cry.😢This is the top grade.Thank you for your creation
I love how Laertes looks like an older, broader Odysseus, and in later animatics Telemachus looks like a leaner Odysseus.
The scenes with the murals and tapestries were super cool. I haven’t read the odyssey so it's cool seeing flashes of Odysseus growing up. All the characters are so expressive. Teen Odysseus is adorable.
I love that you can see the bandage on Odysseus’ leg during his first meeting with Athena.
OMG I LOVE YOU ADDED THE DETAIL OF THE SCAR THAT ODYSSEUS GOT WHEN HE FOUGHT THE BOAR 😭✨️✨️✨️
So many amazing details. Like the paintings moving and everything.
was about to go to bed but the wolfy grind don't stop
OHHH THE REFLECTION BIT WAS SICK!!! I GASPED!!! And aawww, he was so tiny!! Reminds me I suppose of Telemachus in a bittersweet way. Ugh, this was all so shape, too. Excellent as always.
This is so so wonderful!! I especially love the whole tapestry part, that was such a create way of executing those lines... also, Odysseus high-fiving himself after Athena walks away 😭😭 beautiful!
Whats really awesome about your art here is how unhuman i feel Athena looks despite being human shaped. Her eyes being empty/full is a part of that but how you drew her and the movement make her seem so different. Your whole video great showcase of skill because i homestly feel like im watching a full 24/30 frame animation. The art is drawn in such a way that the movement are expressed and my imagination fill in whats left
the self high five omygods i love that you add modern mannerisms to Odysseus
The mosaic transition was so elegant! The Greek art was also incredibly impressive- thank you wolfy for the masterpiece :)
I like how the narrative of this song takes place after he has killed the boar. Most animatics I have seen have killing the boar be the central focus of the scene.
I’m absolutely obsessed with this. You capture years of history of their relationship so so well also all of the transitions in this are so clever and look so neat
This was the epitome of creativity. You took the song that I’ve been imagining how it’d be done in an actual musical and made literally fantastical. The looking glass, the accurate depiction of Greek wall and the motion of it. Absolutely incredible
I love in the end when Athena is leaning down towards Odysseus, it’s reminiscent of your ‘My Goodbye’ animatic. It’s such a cool detail!
Odysseus high fiving himself was amazing
my goodness, i absolutely love how athena and odysseus are portrayed together, they’re so full of banter and fun in the beginning but you can immediately feel the mood shift as the flashback ends and the older odysseus is with athena
Just got this on my notifications, OMG this whole animatic was phenomenal 👏 the transitions to each part, the flow each part went with the music, the simple yet well paced to tell the backstory, etc. I just can’t stop watching each scene in detail. Just love it to pieces
Nice that you added the scar scene here. Honestly knowing the placement of the scar according to the Odyssey this dude had yet another narrow escape. Even before the freaking war thia dude survives the impossible
Omg young Odysseus is adorable- and good job its amazing!
This is brilliant I absolutely adore Athena’s owl-like design and the hood is amazing, also young odysseus is so cute , i love their dynamic
I love it! Really nice scene transitions! Also love the incorporation of his family (like his father, grandfather, and so on). The cartoony expressions on Odysseus' face are great as well. I especially liked the scene where Athena caught him mid-fall, and Odysseus high-fiving himself.
AHH I LOVE THISSS I LOVE THEMM
I like how you show your characters are alive by making it where Odyssey when young passes out because he got injured on the leg. And was tired.
Why am I just discovering this amazing song
Athena leaning over Odyssius's shoulder to remind him, reflecting that sceje in My Goodbye....chef's KISS
Literally I do not have the words, time or energy to properly express how blown away I am by this animatic. The accuracy, beauty, fluidity, creativity, storyboarding, and overall embodiment of the story and song are only a few things that have brought this mythology fan, animation enthusiast, and college student in the middle of finals to tears.
This so so good!
Specially loved how the owl flew inside the paintings, really plays on how Other and always watching Athena was.
For some reason i never got the fact that this song switches between young Odysseus and older Odysseus 😂
This captures it perfectly! I love it so much
