I just finished a 1500 mile journey with a budget moving truck and a tow dolly. I would not recommend it because you cannot reverse at all with the tow dolly or you will damage your car. A 1500 mile journey without reversing is a big hassle. Also, make sure all steps in this video have been followed because budget people did not.

This video needs to be showed to everyone that works at a Budget Truck Rental, I spoke with the guy that was giving me the truck/dolly,
    1) He did not connect the chains/cable at the hitch...geeeeezz....
    2) The chains that are latched onto the car to hold the car on if it falls off, told me that they are to hold the trailer straight and to wrap them around the side bars...
Budget needs to show their works how to use tools like this or else someone can get killed.

Do Budget's dollies have surge brakes?

On a 4 wheel drive pick up do you have to remove the drive shaft or can you put the truck in neutral and the transfer case in neutral would that be sufficient?

Great video but why did you release the truck parking brake as the car is being off loaded?

What if the tow vehicle does not turn on . How do you get it off?

So, the car being towed on the car dolly should stay in "park", while being towed?

    • @johnrogan9420

I would say yes...plus the emergency brake fully engaged.

Why would you try towdolly a vehicle with the rear E-brake engaged???

@@clintonhill9992 all 4 wheels are on the dolly...setting the car brakes locks it down securely...if 2 wheels were rolling as on some trl ...u haul...then no rear brakes set...put in neutral...remove the driveline to save the transmission.

Can anyone tell me how much this tow dolly weighs? Not how much it can handle but how much the actual dolly weighs

The big problem--I'm disabled and I can't do this but they do not provide a person to put the car on the dolly for you. This means I would have to drive my car to the destination, fly back and then take the truck down. That's crap.

do not set the parking brake on the towed vehicle

Most of us watched the whole thing to see that they did say release the parking brake later. It was set until the straps were tightened down. then the brake released.

Setting the parking brake is not a good idea, instead you should put the seatbelt on the steering wheel

The ball is too high for the dolly. An adjustable height ball should have been used so the ramps of the dolly are not so close to the ground.
