Absolutely love the rant he goes on 6 minutes in. Truly people can't understand the effort that goes into these events from the invisible staff and hardware in the background. Awesome content Doug, couldn't make it to NAB this year and loving your coverage.
This is too cool! Love that guys like this are pushing the envelope and raising the bar of what TV broadcasts can be. Can’t wait for NBA in 4k60 HLG. 💯
I have some that do, they are high end enterprise drives though. The important part is that they are SLC or MLC disks, TLC slows down considerably and QLC also never gets to interface speed since it has a small SLC buffer to absorb write slamming until the QLC can catch up. The history of the SSD and the throughout it can do is a fascinating one.
Amazing Truck! only thing I noticed is no replay servers, but I guess I'm just used to that coming from live sports production, not really needed for shows and concerts.
@@djp_video the chassis of truck/trailer and the custom interior is built by Gerling. HighendTV installs all there own equipment inside the truck which is what the owner is showing off! Both companies make great products.
Curios about the heat solution and patch points on the underside of the truck. What are the venue side comms like? Great video. Very inspiring. Lastly, the owner (who's name I have forgotten) seems like a very chill human for a tech that does real time video work....some can be a bit stress-y due to the nature of the job.
Dang! that is a lot of stuff and money in that truck! I was actually surprised on seeing Chris Tomlin on playback, I thought that was pretty neat. Labeling and making things neat especially with all those cables, I bet would take a looong time
VERY NICE. NEW System builds always look nice when they are first completed. If other facilities are like ours - it's only a matter of time until it turns into a disaster.
What a tour - he would have had to fetch security to get me out of there. Doug - I have one question that is not related to the truck, but noticed your lower third at the end was a little higher than what used to be conventional - now is this to accommodate subtitles? I'm trying to get inspiration as at the moment I take the top third and I don't like covering people's faces doing that. Sorry if I went off topic a bit, but I liked the idea of your graphic if it was for that.
After using the trailer for 3.5 years and more than 100 events, I've had a lot of time to think through most of those small details and address most of them
Very cool video! I was surprised to see that among the ultra high-end equipment they are using, they pepper it with Blackmagic gear and he even mentioned Pro Presenter multiple times for graphics, which is a pretty consumerish product. Most of this is just scalability, which is great to see - you don't need the six-figure Sony cameras to record a show; just take the bones of the idea and apply them to your own budget. I'm sure you gathered some useful ideas to implement in your own truck as well! Thank you for sharing.
you're right, but blackmagic is only used for non-critical purposes (switching camera returns, etc...). Hyperdecks are the exception I see... Missing some EVS machines to be honest. But they did not mention sports at all, so I guess they are not into it.
@@SportFlow My guess would be $1M for complete camera kits, $1M for the vision & audio mixers and $1M for everything else (plus another half for the truck).
They don't really focus on live streaming. Being able to stream is a nice plus, but the productions done in this truck are so much higher end than what online platforms can handle.
There is wiring behind one of those blank panels for an 8-in 2-out ____ which we could rent per show. Most entertainment shows do not require replay, but more importantly, EVS doesn't support 4k+HDR+24p... *Yet.

Theatre sound guy here, i love trucks, i love watching tech nerd geeks show off thier new toys :) thanks lads
14:32 - having an SSD that acts just like a floppy disk is probably the best thing I've ever seen.
Such a great team at High End TV. I took the NAB tour of their trucks as well and was impressed with everything! I want a production van one day.
It's a lot of work. It took me a year to design and a year to build mine.
I have a very base technical knowledge of what's in here but mad respect for the build and the talent exhibited. Very cool and awesome content Doug.
WOW this is unbelievable content. thank you so much for educating us how the big boys are doing it
Oh my gosh, this is amazeballs

This guy is battle proof.Good man
Thank you Doug for all your content. That was nice from you to stop and say hi each other. God bless you and God bless all your staff
I was looking up a Truck Tour of yours minutes ago and you upload this right after haha!
Very interesting video, thank you for the top notch coverage!
Wow! That was a juicy setup!
Thanks for sharing Doug!
10:00 look a cute little Mac M1. 🥰
SSDs at 6Gb SATA is 550MegaBytes per second not Megabits, common mistake but very important to distinguish.
And no drives actually can write sustained at that speed either.

Another amazing truck created by Gerling and Associates!
Was it by Gerling? From the way the owner talked, it really sounded like he and his own crew built this.

Unbelievable. Thanks a lot Doug
Nuts. Straight nuts. Advanced and I'm lost. 🤣 But thanks Doug #myhero
...and this is only a mid-tier truck :)
These guys are on god level. Top notch content very greatful
Amazing thanks for this

You'll have to reach out to HighEndTV to find out. Adam Mills is the name of the owner.
Very good content….I wish dat was born 40 years later…….good job
Great content.
Would build my truck in a few years, I'll come back to this 😁
Thanks
I’m going to be the “Low End TV Production…”
So inspirational what is possible now

Wow incredible!
Nice work!
Thanks for asking about the wiring tasks. 5 weeks to get it finished for wiring. That says a lot.

amazing OB track. Sure you got some interesting ideas for your trailer, @Doug ?
More of a "I wish I could afford" than anything else. My trailer really does about everything that it possibly can given its size and cost.
@@djp_video absolutely, but sometimes the good ideas are in the small details

He said they do concerts mostly
This is so cool,
Impressive
You should have shown the truck from the outside too.. or did I miss that somehwere.
It was parked in a rather tight space where I couldn't have gotten a good shot. Their website has a few pictures.
How many million?
I didn't ask
ProPresenter @11:48
Wow... Can only imagine how much money that cost to build with all that equipment in there.... Gotta be over a million?
The Sony camera chains and the GV vision mixer are BY FAR the most expensive equipment

@@philscott7949 I think the Sony 4k camera chains are more than 1M
Appropriately named company and somehow OBS still got a shout out.
That guy does video production for Chris Tomlin?
Pure porn! I love it.
All that broadcast tech in order for people to watch on Facebook live? On a shitty cell phone probably. Woo.
They don't really focus on live streaming. Being able to stream is a nice plus, but the productions done in this truck are so much higher end than what online platforms can handle.
Am I right that there was no evs? I guess they are not worried about this limiting the types of jobs they can take?
I didn't see one.
just what I thought. I cannot imagine an OB track this size without EVS or Kinos...
@@SportFlow These days SM are separate vans or trucks.

4k per monitor is cheap, only in media
