    I’ve had a bmw 700 gs for 9 years and not a minute’s trouble out of it. I’m sure you gonna love it!

    I’m so interested in your future experience. I haven’t ever met a dissatisfied BMW owner, even though most have experienced ‘significant’ failures from their bikes and paid dearly for BMW to repair/resolve. Something about the brand strikes vehement loyalty into the owners’ hearts. I have now subscribed to follow your assessment of the new bike.

      So, BMWs break and expensive to repair?!?!
      Yeah, and maintenance isn't cheap either.
      So, let's see how many trips for repair and the impact on the wallet!

    Great bike, congratulations. I have a 2021 F850GSA since new with 50k miles on it. Flawless bike so far, it's been everywhere, including many 1000+ mile days. It'll tour, dirt roads,fire roads, you know it and brings back near or above 50 mpg around town.
    We should ride what we like and want and not what other people say we should!

    I've been torn between a GS1250 and a Triumph Tiger GT Explorer 1200. I've ridden both and the 900 on a Motorrad demo day at my dealership. I loved the BMW , but to me, The Triumph has a 3 year unlimited milage warranty and BMW is only 3 year 36,000 miles.
    The prices were $28k for the BMW and $24k for the Triumph. They both had same options and I had no issues with getting my phone to pair with either one.
    I also compared maintenance cost and the Triumph is much cheaper
    I then went to the Triumph dealer and they dropped the 23 Triumph Tiger GT Explorer 1200 to $16,999usd and I had to buy it. A $12,000usd savings.
    I don't plan on riding anything more than a dirt or gravel road and plan on just visiting family and possibly going to Nova Scotia and Eastern Canada. My family living in Maine on the border of New Brunswick. I love your bike and the reason you bought it.

    Nice bike. I had a 800 GS and liked it. I am now a Honda fan basically due to reliability. Keep the content coming

    Loved my 2021 BMW R1250RT, but a little too sport for my legs and too much forward lean, but what a sweet beast. I traded in for a 2023 Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer. Connection problems, yes, found out this is an iPhone issue and not my first because apple doesn't want to play well with other apps and software. Had enough of their control, so went with an android, problem solved.
    Also, hated riding 4hrs for service on the beemer. We now have a local Triumph dealer so that was another reason for the change. This Tiger is amazing, love the 30 litre tank and the new quick shifter is magic. At 5'6" I did a few mods to increase comfort, put the bars back to the rear position closer to me and added 20mm risers, installed weighted bar ends and a corbin seat. There is really good info on this bike on Craig Ripleys "Living off the Slab" channel.

    You know what they say about cats having nine lives; I wonder if that applies to Tigers too? 😁

    I think you have covered an important point which is, the evolution of one’s riding as the years creep up.
    I moved down to a smaller CB500X bike with the Rally Raid Level 2 to do some tougher terrain riding. The bike is easier to pick up although nothing like a Honda CRF450. But the CRF450 lacks some of the other features I need.
    I can see myself doing a similar upgrade to something a bit larger (engine) and heavier as I evolve to less difficult technical riding. I have some height limitations that would likely rule out a taller bike, although once the feet are on the pegs it hardly matters especially if I do less remote technical. Of course, a performance bike could make up for some of my skill deficits.
    No new bike under our Christmas tree this year. Oh well, I am still pleased with my ride and my envy level is fairly low but great to see your reveal and explanation.

    The BMW bikes seem to be the holy grail of adv . Truthfully, I'd get a Harley Pan America because its extremely capable and different.

    Good choice! I’m 75 and own a BMW 1200GS, Husqvarna 701 and RE Int 650. I find myself riding the Royal Enfield more mostly because of the low seat. I need to sell the BMW and get something lower and lighter.

    I’m all for people not being blindly and immutably brand loyal but find the fact you had two excellent experiences with Triumph and one no so positive put you off the brand curious.
    Especially as you got the last bike at over 10 years old then did a massive arduous trek on it with what I can only surmise appear to he kinds of issues you can have with any make and mod of comparable adv bike. It also appears your maintenance was less than stellar. The kicker here is if the actual reliability studies/surveys I’ve found rate BMW as LESS reliable than Triumph.
    Hey hope you enjoy the bike but I’ve gotta say I think you have had an unreasonable, baseless negative over reaction to Triumphs. I’ll also say my 2024 Tiger RP is performing outstandingly.

    How’s the wind protection at high speed?

    • @WayneKoufsWorldTour
      @WayneKoufsWorldTour  21 день тому +1

      It’s not bad. Very little buffeting. The wind screen has 2 positions and I usually ride with it in the up position. Mind you, I haven’t been on 500 km ride with it yet, so we’ll see how it fares over a long day in the saddle

    What no heated seats , BMW and triumph bikes are too expensive and crazy servicing costs, Triumph Tiger in GB give two years warranty,I like the Tigers 900 and 1200 and few BMW models,service cost is absolutely stupid money,for oil/ filter and kick the tyres 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

    Can’t go wrong with a BMW. 40k miles on my ‘22 GSA and not a single issue.

    BMW parts are too expensive, dealer service also expensive. Higher maintainence intervals., requires special tools. I prefer my Tiger 900 Rally Pro .

  • @rapidnetrick
    @rapidnetrick 21 день тому

    A BMW?
    Yeah, as long as it's covered by warranty.....
    However, not be.... even the parts of much more expensive. BMWs tend to be over engineered to make things more complex....
