Stephen has to realize that Betty is gone forever as his wife. He should, by this point, accept his huge part in the ending of their marriage. I was hoping he would shake Rod's hand, kiss Betty on the cheek, give her Mr. Peyton's necklace, and wish them the best of luck. However, this is a soap opera and that would end all plots of revenge. Stephen and Susan Winter are quite a pair of devious people, each wanting to plot against someone they care about. Since Tom Winter knows that Susan is so unhappy with their marriage and since he knows that she has intimated that she would have an affair (and Tom knows that Stephen is in her vision), Tom should just let his unhappy marriage end.
And if Steven had taken Betty's advice and left that house, instead of trying to destroy Martin Peyton, they would still be together. Steven has no one to blame but himself.
Usually I find TV weddings tedious to sit through, the over-familiar ceremony, etc., but I guess the show's creators and/or the network sensed that viewers wanted to experience it emotionally. I assumed it was going to be shortened thru use of time-dissolves or maybe just implied, as they come out from the church & dodge the rice on the way to their car. Well, the series definitely is going in some new directions now. I'll miss Paul Langton for sure. I'm warming up to the Winters' cat & mouse repartee as per their tightrope-marriage. And I'd like for Jill to get back on camera---fast. I find her both intriguing & captivating.
"He was trying to ruin it for Betty". No one tries to understand how hurt Stephen is. All I can say of Betty and Rod is..."We're in the money, We're in the money! "
true but Betty did not marry Rod for the money. She has always loved him, but I think she also truly loved Steven. Steven drove her off unfortunately with his obsession. He knows it. His mother warned Betty Steven's obsession was stronger than his love for her. She really wanted her marriage to Steven to work. They never should have moved into the Peyton house.
@@davidcarder9950 Thank you! I have been saying this all along. The only one who broke up Steven and Betty's marriage was Steven. Adrienne was only the catalyst. She had long before grown tired of his insane jealousy and his obsession to destroy Martin Peyton. She begged him numerous times to move away from that house, but he refused. Well, now he has his precious house, but it's just a place to sleep.
Agree! Maybe the writers thought so also but the network signed on for another year. The majority of the original cast has left & it doesn’t feel the same.
And a black dress for a daytime wedding? I think that she & Eli would be lovely together. With his compassion & wisdom he could melt some of her hardness away. She can be very loving & has shown that side before.
Seems like the writers wanted the characters to have a simple second marriage. And Betty’s hair & dress reflect that & the late 60’s soft earthy look. But, Barbara Parkins did look tired from shooting this & the movie.

Marsha, Marsha, Marsha. She makes my skin crawl.
Me too!
Really poor Steven, Martin Peyton, the Harrington's, Betty, Hannah Cord really put him through a lot, way too much.

@@nisetsompumhirun5739 Who cares?! We're not watching that show.
@@nisetsompumhirun5739 Sorry, you are wrong. Steven drove Betty away with his jealousy and obsessions. He has no one to blame but himself.
How hurt Steven is?! OMGoodness! Life is full of hurts. You got to roll with the punches. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
Mrs. Russell reminds me of Betty's Mom, Julie....
This should have been the final episode of
Peyton Place in my opinion

Why does Leslie need another job. Didn't he save enough to retire?
He is only in his mid 40s, 50 at most. Why would he retire?
Poor Reverend
OMGoodness! I can't believe that the opening credits begin with Dorothy Malone! I thought she left the show. And Tim O'Connor left, too, but . . .
It takes the show a little while to update the opening.
Diana Hyland is beautiful. I can see why John Travolta was in love.
I'm sorry. Ada looks best in her 40s style gowns, not that quasi-mini skirt even if it wasn't a totally mod mini.
And a black dress for a daytime wedding? I think that she & Eli would be lovely together. With his compassion & wisdom he could melt some of her hardness away. She can be very loving & has shown that side before.
I feel so sorry for Steven, he really loves Betty 💔
Poor reverend how terrible
No, Steven. She is not yours. She used to be, but you ruined that. You'll never get her back.
Steven is an unfaithful person..
Faithful only to his obsessions.
Why is Betty’s dress so frumpy? She looks extra thin, unhappy/miserable, her hair is sort of odd. Unlike Betty’s character.
She looked pale as well.
She looked so radiant at her wedding with Steven
She could have dressed much better
