Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a perfect visual to show what human beings need to be functioning properly. While the bottom 4 needs, Physiological, Safety, Love & Belonging and Esteem needs, are all deficiency needs. This means they come from a persons want to be rid of their "deficiency" and get what they are lacking. The top level, Self-Actualization, is a growth need. This is a need that people use to better themselves and grow as a person which is my favorite need out of them!

Obviously the needs for survival are important wages can cover these, management can use raw dollars to motivate, but adding additional benefits to fit safety needs are also great motivators.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is one of the most famous theories of the content of motivation, based on the results of numerous psychological studies. Needs are viewed as a conscious absence of something, causing an incentive to act. Needs are subdivided into primary, characterizing a person as a biological organism, and cultural or higher, characterizing a person as a social being and personality. Hopefully we'll come back to this topic later this semester.

It was interesting to think about what needs are and are not met with certain jobs and positions. Self-Actualization is certainly harder to meet as it is on a higher level, but it makes me wonder the percentage of how many people feel like their self actualization need is being met.

MKT 101, Dr. Ma: I found this video very informational and simultaneously very easy to understand. One thing I found particularly interesting was that the only thing to be considered "growth needs" are self actualization needs, while the other four levels are all deficiency needs. I initially thought that at least esteem needs would be considered growth, since self esteem is something that can be grown within a person, but I now see how lacking esteem would translate to being a deficiency, and would subsequently become one's desire to grow their self esteem.

Sophia Masciarelli Marketing 101: This video taught me about the various levels in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs such as psychological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self actualization as well as the things we do in our everyday lives that fulfill these needs. I learned that these needs are categorized into two groups which are growth needs, which are needs that come from our drive to become a better person, and deficiency needs which come from our wanting for things we don't have while wanting to get rid of things that are deficient in our lives. I learned about Maslow's Hierarchy theory of needs in Prof. Ma's class this semester, and I wish we spent more time on it since it is an exciting way to explain and describe our motivation and drive to work. I feel that Maslow's theory helps us explain so much as to why we (as employees competing against each other) often put so much work, effort, and spirit into our jobs with the hopes of one day escalating higher up the corporate ladder. I loved how every level of the pyramid was explained in this video too, it was super easy to understand!
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a great way to motivate employees and all those in a workforce. The diagrams really helped with understanding the topic more considering I am more of a visual learner. I also believe that the timestamps were a great idea as they show when a new topic has begun.

I heard about maslow hierarchy in my marketing class with professor Ma. It explains our way of living and why we do things very much. Since i am very interested in the psychological aspect of business this theory is really interesting. This theory helps me understand human behavior in the business context. The different parts of the video make it very easy to understand this concept and how it is applied in real life.

Very Informative video. I learned about the 5 levels of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (Physiological, Safety, Love/Belonging, Esteem, Self-actualisation). It was interesting and beneficial to learn about how this hierarchy applies to the business world. This is valuable information for students as we will be looking to find jobs in the near future. Finding a position that satisfies this pyramid will lead to a happier employee, and allow them to achieve more success.
I was first introduced to Maslow in a psychology class. After learning about Maslow's Hierarchy of needs in professor Ma's class I was interested to learn how it can be used in the workplace to keep employees satisfied in the same way it applies to our everyday life.
Thanks to Professor Ma, I feel that I have learned so much more about how Maslow's heirarchy of needs can be essential and important to business and marketing strategies. I did find level four to be very interesting, as I believe it is important as a consumer to feel appreciated by a company that you are giving your money to.

The understanding of what humans need and what we strive for allows for a better understanding of how management can motivate employees. Obviously the needs for survival are important wages can cover these, management can use raw dollars to motivate, but adding additional benefits to fit safety needs are also great motivators.

I've heard of Maslow's pyramid before, but the video gave me more information. A. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is one of the most famous theories of the content of motivation, based on the results of numerous psychological studies. Needs are viewed as a conscious absence of something, causing an incentive to act. Needs are subdivided into primary, characterizing a person as a biological organism, and cultural or higher, characterizing a person as a social being and personality. Hopefully we'll come back to this topic later this semester.
This is a great topic to be talked about class, and it is very good to be able to understand this in the business world. This really taught a lot of new things and will really help me in the real world.
I love all of your videos because of how detailed they are and the integration of real world examples. They are incredibly easy to follow and understand, and I always feel like I go away with such much more easy to digest information than if I were to just read the textbook. I remember learning about Maslow's Hierarchy of needs in Behavioral Science class in high school. It’s interesting to see them applied to a business aspect. I really liked the specific examples in the video. They greatly help to visualize how the hierarchy applies to the daily life of most people, especially in their careers.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs has been taught to me before but it was broken down so excellently in this video. It was interesting to think about what needs are and are not met with certain jobs and positions. Self-Actualization is certainly harder to meet as it is on a higher level, but it makes me wonder the percentage of how many people feel like their self actualization need is being met.
This video showed me a new way to interpret Maslows Hierarchy of Needs, geared more towards the buisness world. The visuals and animations also help ilustrate the content being discussed well.
Psychological needs is probably the most important thing for people. Looking at how this goes up from psychological to security, and social needs. These are all great roots to a good life, I also believe this is the main reason a lot of people fall.
MKT 101, Dr. Ma: I found this video very informational and simultaneously very easy to understand. One thing I found particularly interesting was that the only thing to be considered "growth needs" are self actualization needs, while the other four levels are all deficiency needs. I initially thought that at least esteem needs would be considered growth, since self esteem is something that can be grown within a person, but I now see how lacking esteem would translate to being a deficiency, and would subsequently become one's desire to grow their self esteem.

Looking at how the hierarchy plays into my own life I can see why there is so much weight added to this model. Past things that I may not have been able to interpret correctly have taken on a new color with something such as this to look to in order to explain some human behavior. The simplification that this adds to actions taken by managers is mightily helpful and I will be using it going forward.

Understanding Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is a great tool to use when in helping build and retain employees. Having those conversations to figure out where they are in life and what they want to accomplish will help a company retain employees if they know how to help their employees succeed.

I feel as though I have learned about maslows hierarchy before but from this video it was in a slightly different perspective that was very useful for someone in a management position like myself.
Sophia Masciarelli Marketing 101: This video taught me about the various levels in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs such as psychological, safety, love and belonging, esteem, and self actualization as well as the things we do in our everyday lives that fulfill these needs. I learned that these needs are categorized into two groups which are growth needs, which are needs that come from our drive to become a better person, and deficiency needs which come from our wanting for things we don't have while wanting to get rid of things that are deficient in our lives. Learning how these needs can be applied in the business world is beneficial for me when I enter into future jobs and careers.

I really enjoyed the use of visual aids throughout this video that helped to provide a clear and in depth analysis of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs! I felt that I was able to gain great knowledge about each level of the pyramid. It also helped me gather a greater understanding of how this knowledge can be applied to the business and marketing world- in terms of understanding employees and consumers, and what motivates them.
