The tulips you selected are great.
I hope you and your family and neighbors are all enjoying them.
I hope you have a great 2024 gardening season and these tulips sure are putting on a lovely show to start👏
Thanks Manny. I really appreciate your kind words. It really is a great start indeed. Have a great day and have a wonderful 2024!
Your tulips are beautiful! Great video. I can tell you love gardening.
P.S. English teacher here. If your last name is Williams with an "s", you add "es" to make it plural--Williamses. No apostrophe needed.
Hello Paula. Oh thank you! I've had that question for years. Thanks for your expertise. Yes, you can expect I will have an update soon. I love it when I learn new things from my viewing community. You're the best for taking time to explain. Have a great day! Hope you stop by again. :) Take care.
I see that Creekside Nursery cap! 🙌🏾💚 Love that nursery and channel. Greetings to you and your family from another avid gardener in NC. 🌷 I hate that tulips are annuals, but the spring show truly makes the effort worthwhile. Thanks for sharing your beautiful gardens with us.
Hello there Yvonne!! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet comment. Yes, you're right. That cap was a gift from my wife, just because. I love that channel too. I would love to visit them someday. Glad to know a fellow garden enthusiast like you. You're right, you can't beat that beautiful show in early spring! Have a great day and Happy Gardening!!
Good morning William . Good advice from your grandmother and she sees the beauty of your garden from above with Jesus . I also put the bulbs in the refrigerator . The tulips are amazing and so pretty in your garden, the two colors look beautiful together and i love these two color for Easter . Have a wonderful day .🌷
Awww, that is so sweet of you. Yes, she is! Such a comforting thought really. I'm glad you do the same. It's so worth it. They are so beautiful and there's nothing that rings in the spring like tulips! Have a great eve and happy gardening!
Love that your tulips are already up! Ours have about a month to go still.
Yes, we had a bunch of warm days before all our rain. They had a jump start. Can't wait for you to share yours once they start blooming. It seems like you were just taking about your bulb order, now you're only about a month away from blooms. Very cool.
@@williamsgardening this winter has flown by! Something we’re happy about here in the Nordics 😅
Beautiful! Thanks for the Color Blend tip!
You are so welcome! 🌿🌿🌿
Ahh yes, the atmospheric river. We planted ours into containers for our porch and actually covered all our containers with bulbs with plastic for most of the atmospheric river so they wouldn't rot. Your tulips look awesome!
Yep, that's exactly right. Normally, they do well in the planter, but all that rain really was too much. Great idea about your pots. I'm sure that protected them perfectly! Thanks for stopping by and also for your very kind comment. Take care.
Hello William..your tulip so beatiful..love it...
Thanks so much Nazman. Thanks for stopping by. Take care.
I love the red and the yellow combo! I did a pink blend of tulip bulbs this year from Sams Club, they are so fun! But yours is definitely a great POP of color! Nice job.
Oh thank you! I'm sure yours are beautiful. I really appreciate your kind comment. Yes, they really did pop this year. I remember when our Sam's would carry Tulips. In fact, that's where I would get them. Someone told me that they had to stop caring them locally because people complained that they wouldn't flower, not knowing that they had to pre-chill them. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.
My fav flower I love it!
You know what? Mine too! Happy Gardening BK!!
Beautiful! Just subbed, I'm glad to see another channel gardening in zone 10b. Have you tried digging them up after the season and chilling them again for the next?
Thanks so much for stopping by and also subbing! So glad to have you. I know what you mean, not too many gardening in our zone on UA-cam. Glad you found us. As for the tulips, yes, you could dig them and try chilling again, but most will not do well once pulled. I’ve had a very low success rate doing that. As most people say, it’s better to start fresh and think of them as an annual. It would be great if they were like daffodils. Unfortunately, they require more care and steps in order to be successful. Hope this helps. Have a great day!
What do you do after the blooms? Dig it up or leave it in the ground??? Can you do an update after the blooms?? They are so beautiful.. thank you…😊
After they bloom, I let them die back a bit and then I pull them. Yeah, it's hard to think of them as annuals, but around here, it's just a fact. I have some in my garden that come up every year, but never bloom. Without the cold winter it's not possible. Thanks so much for stopping by and also for your very kind comment. Happy gardening to you !
@@williamsgardeningI was wondering the same thing. I live in the northeast and we don’t have to pull our bulbs.
Just to let you know, in case you don’t already, you really should leave the bulbs in the ground until all the leaves die back because the leaves feed the bulb and get the bulbs ready for the next year. If the bulbs are pulled to soon (like right after they are “all” done blooming or at first sign that the leaves are starting to die) the bulbs won’t get the energy they need store to bloom again the following year and if they do bloom they will be very small or the plants may just have enough energy to put out leaves only in hopes of getting more energy for the next year. It’s also helpful to include bulb fertilizer in the holes as you plant them and that will also help the bulbs grow bigger for the next year, especially when you have a wet season. Here, we just top dress the bulbs.
So, what do you put in your tulip beds once you take out your bulbs?
@@CuriousinNYthere’s no need to let tulip bulbs die back completely in the south. They are annuals here, and no matter how much energy they store after blooming this current season, they won’t bloom the following year. Our winters are just too warm. Some people have tried pulling the tulip bulbs, storing them in a dry area, chilling and replanting in January, but there’s still a good chance that you’ll get more foliage than blooms. Purchasing fresh bulbs each fall guarantees southern gardens a higher rate of success. 🌷💚
Yes, that's exactly right. Always new bulbs here in the south.
How long do you leave the bulbs in the refrigerator before planting?
Hello. I leave them in the refrigerator for 6-8 weeks. That usually yields good results.
They look beautiful… too bad they don’t naturalize
Thanks much. You're so right. I wish they did. :)
