Yknow when I first thought about Mettaton in the genocide route, I really thought’d he would just be like “ahahaha! I will kill you and become a hero and get even more praise and attention! I don’t actually care about anyone but myself!” but his character is so much more than that and I love it. He’s really a caring, protective guy his ego just gets in the way and can definitely make him seem like a total jerk, when he’s really not.
The thing which i REALLY adore about the genocide route that it SHOWS everyone's character and even enhance some(Undyne,Mettaton,Sans). Toriel: Even if she is a protective mother, she despises you showing that she isn't just a stereotopical(yes ik i butchered this word but who cares lol)mother. Papyrus: It shows that he isn't just an ego filled person and and just want to be popular, no it shows that he is a very kind and forgiving monster and would never hurt a fly. Undyne: It emphasis how much of a True Hero she actually is to the point she will refuse death to kill you, and she now also overcomes the racial hate she had towards humans as now she is trying to protect everyone, even humans! Mettaton: He now isn't just a celebirity who only cares about himself and his ego, but now he will fight even putting his life for risk just for others to evacuate . Alphys: I really wanted Alphys to be something more y'know. The genocide route didn't affect her much but ig make her more confident? Idk Alphys imo could have been handled better but idk. Sans: YOU WANNA HAVE A BAD TIME?? In all seriousness tho, Sans character REALLY shines in genocide. He isn't just a normal skeleton who lives to make puns and be lazy(Sans neutral/pacifist), but now he will give all he has just to make you pay. He knows you're going to kill him eventually but he's going to make YOU WORK for it. He's a punisher and a judge.
"Real heroes never fear." "Real heroes laugh at death." "I will stand in your way" "Until my final breath." Robots don't breathe so thats going to take a while.
This song shows that Mettaton knows he can't win. He insists that he's a hero, even though he has no chance. But even so, that doesn't mean he's not a hero. Infact, he's more of a hero than anyone else. Because he doesn't care if he doesn't win, he just needs to buy everyone some more time. What really makes him a hero, is not that he defies death like Undyne, but that he looks at death and says "bring it!" Because, to quote Mettaton in the pacifist route, He's going to shine like a star, and then burn like one. But he's gonna take you with him. I find that more heroic than refusing to die.
Look, undyne gets takin down in a single hit, knowing what you will do, she cant just let that happen.she comes back from death to stop the genocide. She didnt come back because she feared death , she came back to fight and stop you. Shes not accepting her death because there is to much at steak, not because she doesnt want to die.she will lay down here life to stop you, shes doing what mettaton was trying to do but not giving up because she was defeated.so your point is kinda dumb. Also, sans. He is fully aware that killing you has no point. Bye fighting hes damning himself to a near endless hell just fighting and killing you.so he is just as heroic as undyne and mettaton
The lines "Will they all remember my face?" And "If is this the last time we meet" makes me emotional everytime i hear it. Mettaton knows that he will die, but even thought that, he still fight.
He knew he wouldn't win from the start, he says "until my final breath" meanwhile undyne said "as you take your last breath" Mettaton was only there to stall while undyne was there to kill.
True hero, really sad that one of the best opportunities for the character got descarted in geno route, at least the fans made It REALLY well, i'd consider canon If Undyne the undyning, Sans and mtt neo fight frisk at the same time they would die fr, of course no hit kill

Okay I did some thinking and here’s something to think about; what if mettaton AND alphys know about resets? I mean doctor alphys did do experiments about DT ( Determination ) and from what I know you need a lot of DT to have the ability to reset. I think while alphys was leaning about DT she discovered the power to reset. NOW how does mettaton fit into this? Well mettaton is a robot made by alphys and seems to support her no matter what ( when he’s not doing TV stuff anyways ) so I would assume that alphys would of told him about reset instead of keeping it to herself.

I kind of love how he references in the song that he KNOWS he's going to die. He's stalling, stalling so Alphys can evacuate the survivors. The last line of defense. I also love how he's gradually sounding winded and even a little desperate.

Not sure if anyone noticed this, but in death by glamour, he sings 'The love of the fans is almost giving me wings' Then in power of NEO, he sings 'Raising my face to the sky, giving me wings and the power to fly' Implying that he's remembering that his fans have gone to heaven, and that he has to save all those who survive.
I like to imagine that through the entire song mettaton isn’t actually fighting; he’s putting on a performance. He’s stalling for as long as possible by distracting you with some flashy lights and blaring music, it fits the musical theme while also staying true to how the ‘fight’ goes in game.
I feel like he's putting on one last show while throwing some attacks in while the player just gose along and chases after mettaton to amuse him. And than mettaton relises and just keeps going
Danica Martin he knows he was gonna die, he wasn't fighting only to let alphys and the others to evacuate. he was trying to protect the king and the land, because he knew that they were all gonna die. like in this line, "I must try, even tho I may die to protect land a king.• sad man
Whether Toby meant to or not, he brought a certain realization to my mind when I thought about the Mettaton fight. Think about it: a TV star who is always the center of attention. It’s all about HIM. Yet, when the time comes, he doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice his life for those he loves. It then becomes about others, and not himself. He’s throwing away the spotlight and being selfless. That was really powerful to me.
I love the small touch in that the fans crying out "We love you, Mettaton!" turns into "Come on now, Mettaton!", and finally "Exploding Mettaton!" and it shows that as the battle rages on and Mettaton is showing more and more signs of defeat, the fans feel that way too, and all hope is lost for them. Amazing touch.
This song just shows how heroic Mettaton can be. He's not perfect, but there are people he wants to protect. He's doing what's right. Take a bow, humans. And smile. *It's closing night.*

I just noticed Mettaton gets less confident as the song goes on. In the beginning, he says, "Others failed to stop you but I know I can!" About halfway, he says, "I must try, even though I may die, to protect land and king." He is no longer confident that he can stop Frisk. At the end, he realizes that he only has a sliver of hope left: " The end of the world, I face it with pride if I have the slimmest chance to stop your cruel genocide." Dang. That's powerful.
Song confidence levels: 1:21 Super confident 1:52 slightly less confident 2:16 realizing the enormity of the situation but pressing on 2:24 lost a lot of confidence, but Still thinks He can defeat Frisk 2:37 losing confidence but still Believing in Himself 3:01 realizes that it's gonna be a long battle and he probably can't defeat them, but he is still trying as hard as he can 4:08 he's exhausted, and tired, and the player is still trying to kill them. he can only just continue, but he does. 4:16 he realizes It's near impossible to defeat them, and has lost almost all his confidence. 4:30 burst of DETERMINATION and realizes he's killing them or is gonna die trying. 5:15 he knows it's over, but he also knows he did all he could, even if it wasn't enough. 5:57 he dies trying
The same applies to the chanting of the (possibly deceased) fans as well. "We love you, Mettaton!" - Morale is high, they're already congratulating him in advance "Come on now, Mettaton!" - He's having some trouble, so they encourage him to ensure he can do it "Exploding Mettaton" - Morale has fallen, and they're forced to accept the inevitable
I must say, I sort of feel that Mettaton, at least in the genocide route, is more of a hero than Undyne. I know what you’re thinking, but hear me out. Yes, Undyne died jumping in front of your attack, saving Monster Kid, but she didn’t know she was going to die, nor did she know that she was going to become Undyne the Undying. And yes, she fights you until you inevitability kill her, but once again, she outright says that she _will_ defeat you and save monsterkind. Mettaton, on the other hand, knows that he _cannot_ win, but fights you anyway, with the mindset that even if you kill him in 10 seconds, that might just be enough to save at least one life.
I believe they are equally heroic, because undyne saying that she will defeat you is just part of her personality, she always acts like that. But most people don't recognize Mettaton as a hero because he dies without a actual fight, which is true but his intentions are heroic.
It hit me like a ton of bricks, the people may of heard of Undynes' death. but all the survivors, held up in Alphys's bunker. they're watching Mettaton fight you. They're cheering him on as he holds you off. hoping his death will allow a few more seconds of hope. And then they watch you, effortlessly slay him, and march on. that has to be devastating. Knowing that their strongest die just like that.

You know, it does make sense to add the vocal effects to Alex's voice. Not just because IKARUS's Power of NEO is electronic, but also because Mettaton NEO is a human annihilation machine, whereas EX is an entertainer robot and would sound a lot less robotic.
well maybe it's because Mettaton is finally taking action and is doing everything he can and that puts a lot of strain on his body thus making his voice like that
I love the fact that at the beginning of the song Mettaton says "curtains rise" and at the end he says "curtains fall". its little details like this that make these songs special.

Im sad because at first he was first deticated to stopping you and then realized he couldnt so then was dedicated to buying time for the rest of the monsters who werent evacuated yet. Truly a hero mettaton and a FABULOUS one too
Honestly, this might be the most heroic song in all of the Genocide Package. Sure, Undyne may have put her life at risk to kill the player, and Sans fought what he knew to be a losing battle just to hopefully a few lives, but Mettaton is different. Mettaton knows that he won't win, and he accepts it with grace, because he's not fighting to win, just to stall. He knows that he has no chance to win, and yet he still sacrifices himself so that everyone else has a chance to evacuate. As Mettaton says "every second I'm here, we've saved another life!"

After listening to this for awhile, I realized something I think. After hearing him talking about being a coward so much and repeating Undyne, I think the entire song is just him reassuring himself that he can do this. All the way down to the fake crowd implied to possibly be there. As the fight goes on, even his reassurance begins to fail him as the human begins to overwhelm him, so the song becomes more pessimistic. "Curtain rise, salvation I bring" In the beginning becomes "Curtain falls, salvation I bring." And he even goes so far to call it a ballad at the end. The song is literally Mettaton trying to stay strong and slowly crumpling under the pressure he has over him, even wondering if anyone will remember him when he's gone. And by the end of the song, all he has left is his confident facade to stay strong for the few monster left and the few who escaped as he is finished off by the human.
Of course no one could ever really forget Mettaton. I know I certainly won't. I just wish his heroism and character could have had a better genocide boss fight like Undyne
Never thought metaton neo (a boss with no fight) would get such an analysis as this. But I absolutely agree. He is really trying to stall you as long as he can fight and/or talk. After all this is his true final episode so why not go out with a bang
I love the implication that, canonically, he sang this heroic number while literally just standing there in front of Frisk, and they waited until he finished to deck him in one blow.

I love how in the vid it never shows Mettaton getting hit until the end. So he still dies in one hit, but he knows and just bombards you with attacks, so you don't get a chance to attack him.

Even then, just 90 ATK is pathetic if you're forcing yourself to have only 9 DEF, it's like a glass cannon character that doesn't work at all (pretty much adds it up to being a Non Effective Obstacle)

Logically speaking, he was built as a human eradication robot. He was made to swiftly kill any human. The fact that the human is surviving, with each passing minute, he gets less confident.
I'm extremely late, but I realized something. The chorus of fans in some parts. They sound really desperate, don't they? The monsters that evacuated are desperate for Mettaton to prevail and defeat the human before the human race gets murdered. Hes literally their only hope against the human's wrath. That's deep.

Something I noticed is here, the crowd's voices sound thin and strained, but in Death by Glamour, they are happy and loud. If most of MTT's crowd is dead or hiding, that would probably explain why they sound so quiet and strained.

If you listen at about 4:05. You notice Mettaton Neo's voice start to quiver and become weary. I absolutely love the fact that they take time to show that Mettaton is slowly losing hope and energy as the fight goes on.
I love how in the video it's actually a turning point in the battle in favour of NEO - he lands a solid cut on Friskchara, and he/she/they starts to slowly bleed out from that point. It's a pity it's too late.

This one is just about perfect. That moment when Mettaton realizes he can't win (3:27) and he shifts from bold and even arrogant to prepared for a noble sacrifice (every second we're here we've saved another life). Doing whatever he can to buy the evacuation time and taking whatever slim chance he has at stopping you.
If you listen to the original IKARUS Remix (what this video uses) then theres more than that. Throughout most of the remix, Megalovania is heard lightly in the background. Sans is still alive at this point, and is next in line for a boss fight, so his track almost always being present makes sense. Spear of Justice can be heard. Undyne is a friend of Alphys, the previous hero that tried to stop the human, and Mettaton is trying to imitate Undyne’s determination anyway. thats why Power of NEO has the same beats as True Hero Spider Dance can be heard. it doesn’t make sense why though. it’s not even Ghost Fight/Dummy!, which would’ve actually made sense, considering who Mettaton used to be. Theres a large part where ASGORE is playing. Asgore is also still alive at this point.
The fact that he uses lines from the "spear of justice" and after talks about deceaced heroes givves me chills, I really love this 💖💖 we love you mettaton
Out of all the mettaton neo songs, this one seems to have the most effort put into it, how mettaton slowly realizes he is incapable of stopping 'the fallen child of man' and eventually only stalls for the others. He really is a hero
I can't be the only one who loves the artificial voice range extension. Like... You just KNOW that's something Mettaton would actually do. And it sounds so cool.
I like that it's more heavily altered than Mettaton in the neutral/pacifist songs. Kinda implies that this is going really all out for him (even though he dies immediately...)

Most people say that I'm refering to whenever you run out of hp, but I'm actually referring to the end of genocide where Chats deals lots of damage to you, and if you aren't hacking, you can't have that much hp. 2:18 I love this part of the lyrics. This shows how Mettaton really loves his fans. And a few seconds he talks about how he cares for the others safety.
As awesome as this is, it's sad it's basically Mettaton accepting he's most likely going to die in this fight. He knows his chances are slim, but he's going down fighting.
My favorite of all the Geoncide run Package. Not just because Mettaton ,but I just love how this balances the hopeless of the run with the sheer desparation of the monsters. Mettaton's lyrics and tone show how as the fight goes on, he truly realizes, he can't win. And if he's going to go down... he's going to at least delay you so Alphys can get away. It just encapsulates the Genocide run from the monster's perspective wonderfully. Amazing work Alex, amazing work all of you!
Mettaton, while most of the fan base won't give him the credit he deserves, is in my option the bravest of the Monsters in the entire Underground. Mettaton is always cocky. Who's to say he didn't go into this fight KNOWING he was going to die, but hid the fact behind his normal theatrics? If that is true, then he went in knowing he had no shot, but "Unleashed all the power" he could, to ensure that the survivors could get away. THAT is why MTT is a True Hero.
You know i recently realized something : mettaton sounds more robotic during this song compared to death by glamour and metal crusher. The reason why is because *neo was never completed thus the voice was never fully completed, which is* mettaton is literally fighting a dying battle and he knows but still like he says in the song, he would rather save the lives of his fans and people than be a lone survivor
That, or he just change it because having the entertainment voice as a killing machine wouldn’t very much fit the situation at hand, as well frisk wouldn’t take him seriously as he's trying to kill him with a voice like that....
I actually had something like this. My players were just killing everybody in sight, so I had a powerful sorcerer who was supposed to be the bad guy, be the world's savior.
The first time I played the genocide route, mettaton dying in 1 hit genuinely surprised me. I was expecting an epic battle like this. But at least there were other fights
The parts "We Love you Mettaton, Come on Mettaton!, and Exploding Mettaton!" Were all from the Death By Glamour Musical Number... showing on how Mettaton's fans would stick with him all the way even till death. Excellent execution MOTI Team. So much passion
"every second I'm here, we've saved another life" chills man, these lyrics are really powerful (I mean like all boss battles in the genocide package & in-game genocide give chills tbh),,, like this is why I love Undertale and this fan musical, the characters really do remind you of your sins and make you feel guilty; that your actions DO have consequences, that you can do better basically what I'm saying is; i almost cried to this fan song even tho I've listened to it so many times already, it's just SO well done

If you think about it, mettaton is just as much as a hero as undyne or sans in the genocide path. I mean he doesn't put up a fight but think about it, he still stands up to stop you, and maybe a reason why he stands up knowing fully well he can't stop you as he said in the beginning with alphys being the "only smart one." Buts let think about that for a second, a true hero doesn't have to put up a fight, a true hero has to stand up for others and what does mettaton do? He stands up for others and want i think even further solidifys him being a hero is him knowing he couldn't even stop you, sure undyne and sans may of had some hesitance but undyne was a trained warrior she didnt know she would become undying and sans had to of known he had the powers he uses in his fight no invisibility frames etc... metttaton though? He was just a star he didnt have any fancy weapons to try and stop you he didnt have powers like sans or was a trained warrior like undyne, he was just a celebrity. And another reason to prove he is even more of a hero it is quite easy to forget but, he changes from his box form (gonna call it box form) to his NEO form now this shows like with undyne he wants a fair fight he doesn't just want to try and cheat like sans he wants to try and stop you heroically. Now maybe another reason is he was fed up with what you had done and just wanted to protect those he cared about for example he dearly cared for Dr alphys as we get to see in the neutral route with him becoming king, building a statue of her and trying to look for her wishing he had treated her better. Maybe he just wanted to protect the people and alphys from you. Now I believe that he was such a pushover for 2 reasons one being, alphys just didn't finish his defenses or because well your not human, think about it he is a *human* eradication robot and well your not human now you have too much LV your a monster a heartless killer and maybe thats why he was so easy. All in all I love mettaton my favourite character in undertale and I just wanted to say how he was a hero as much as sans or undyne so yea bai bai :3.

Mettaton neo is so cool I tried to spare him too (also is it just me or every song I like in undertale I dont like but the ones I like in the musical but dont like in undertale ??)
On my first genocide, when I got to neo, I was so scared that he would be like undyne the undying that I stood up and quit the game. The next day, I fearfully moved my hand to the fight button and prepared for the worst. I was a bit angry when my eyes opened to a dead mettaton.
That’s the point. You’ve done a horrible thing by going down this path, and the game won’t reward you for it. You don’t deserve fun, you don’t get a cool fight, you get nothing.
Yknow when I first thought about Mettaton in the genocide route, I really thought’d he would just be like “ahahaha! I will kill you and become a hero and get even more praise and attention! I don’t actually care about anyone but myself!” but his character is so much more than that and I love it. He’s really a caring, protective guy his ego just gets in the way and can definitely make him seem like a total jerk, when he’s really not.

The thing which i REALLY adore about the genocide route that it SHOWS everyone's character and even enhance some(Undyne,Mettaton,Sans).
Toriel: Even if she is a protective mother, she despises you showing that she isn't just a stereotopical(yes ik i butchered this word but who cares lol)mother.
Papyrus: It shows that he isn't just an ego filled person and and just want to be popular, no it shows that he is a very kind and forgiving monster and would never hurt a fly.
Undyne: It emphasis how much of a True Hero she actually is to the point she will refuse death to kill you, and she now also overcomes the racial hate she had towards humans as now she is trying to protect everyone, even humans!
Mettaton: He now isn't just a celebirity who only cares about himself and his ego, but now he will fight even putting his life for risk just for others to evacuate .
Alphys: I really wanted Alphys to be something more y'know. The genocide route didn't affect her much but ig make her more confident? Idk Alphys imo could have been handled better but idk.
Sans: YOU WANNA HAVE A BAD TIME??
In all seriousness tho, Sans character REALLY shines in genocide. He isn't just a normal skeleton who lives to make puns and be lazy(Sans neutral/pacifist), but now he will give all he has just to make you pay. He knows you're going to kill him eventually but he's going to make YOU WORK for it. He's a punisher and a judge.

This song shows that Mettaton knows he can't win. He insists that he's a hero, even though he has no chance. But even so, that doesn't mean he's not a hero. Infact, he's more of a hero than anyone else. Because he doesn't care if he doesn't win, he just needs to buy everyone some more time. What really makes him a hero, is not that he defies death like Undyne, but that he looks at death and says "bring it!" Because, to quote Mettaton in the pacifist route, He's going to shine like a star, and then burn like one. But he's gonna take you with him. I find that more heroic than refusing to die.

Okay I did some thinking and here’s something to think about; what if mettaton AND alphys know about resets? I mean doctor alphys did do experiments about DT ( Determination ) and from what I know you need a lot of DT to have the ability to reset. I think while alphys was leaning about DT she discovered the power to reset. NOW how does mettaton fit into this? Well mettaton is a robot made by alphys and seems to support her no matter what ( when he’s not doing TV stuff anyways ) so I would assume that alphys would of told him about reset instead of keeping it to herself.

I like to imagine that through the entire song mettaton isn’t actually fighting; he’s putting on a performance. He’s stalling for as long as possible by distracting you with some flashy lights and blaring music, it fits the musical theme while also staying true to how the ‘fight’ goes in game.
Right he's just distracting the character so Alphys can evaluate the remaining survivors.
I feel like he's putting on one last show while throwing some attacks in while the player just gose along and chases after mettaton to amuse him. And than mettaton relises and just keeps going

Whether Toby meant to or not, he brought a certain realization to my mind when I thought about the Mettaton fight. Think about it: a TV star who is always the center of attention. It’s all about HIM. Yet, when the time comes, he doesn’t hesitate to sacrifice his life for those he loves. It then becomes about others, and not himself. He’s throwing away the spotlight and being selfless. That was really powerful to me.

I just noticed Mettaton gets less confident as the song goes on. In the beginning, he says, "Others failed to stop you but I know I can!" About halfway, he says, "I must try, even though I may die, to protect land and king." He is no longer confident that he can stop Frisk. At the end, he realizes that he only has a sliver of hope left: " The end of the world, I face it with pride if I have the slimmest chance to stop your cruel genocide."

I must say, I sort of feel that Mettaton, at least in the genocide route, is more of a hero than Undyne. I know what you’re thinking, but hear me out. Yes, Undyne died jumping in front of your attack, saving Monster Kid, but she didn’t know she was going to die, nor did she know that she was going to become Undyne the Undying. And yes, she fights you until you inevitability kill her, but once again, she outright says that she _will_ defeat you and save monsterkind.
Mettaton, on the other hand, knows that he _cannot_ win, but fights you anyway, with the mindset that even if you kill him in 10 seconds, that might just be enough to save at least one life.

It hit me like a ton of bricks, the people may of heard of Undynes' death. but all the survivors, held up in Alphys's bunker. they're watching Mettaton fight you. Knowing that their strongest die just like that.

You know, it does make sense to add the vocal effects to Alex's voice. Not just because IKARUS's Power of NEO is electronic, but also because Mettaton NEO is a human annihilation machine, whereas EX is an entertainer robot and would sound a lot less robotic.

The biggest problem in the world
Honestly, this might be the most heroic song in all of the Genocide Package. Sure, Undyne may have put her life at risk to kill the player, and Sans fought what he knew to be a losing battle just to hopefully a few lives, but Mettaton is different. Mettaton knows that he won't win, and he accepts it with grace, because he's not fighting to win, just to stall. He knows that he has no chance to win, and yet he still sacrifices himself so that everyone else has a chance to evacuate. As Mettaton says "every second I'm here, we've saved another life!"

After listening to this for awhile, I realized something I think. After hearing him talking about being a coward so much and repeating Undyne, I think the entire song is just him reassuring himself that he can do this. All the way down to the fake crowd implied to possibly be there. As the fight goes on, even his reassurance begins to fail him as the human begins to overwhelm him, so the song becomes more pessimistic. "Curtain rise, salvation I bring" In the beginning becomes "Curtain falls, salvation I bring." And he even goes so far to call it a ballad at the end. The song is literally Mettaton trying to stay strong and slowly crumpling under the pressure he has over him, even wondering if anyone will remember him when he's gone. And by the end of the song, all he has left is his confident facade to stay strong for the few monster left and the few who escaped as he is finished off by the human.
Of course no one could ever really forget Mettaton. I know I certainly won't. I just wish his heroism and character could have had a better genocide boss fight like Undyne

That moment when Mettaton realizes he can't win (3:27) and he shifts from bold and even arrogant to prepared for a noble sacrifice (every second we're here we've saved another life). Doing whatever he can to buy the evacuation time and taking whatever slim chance he has at stopping you.
I love how the Bonetrousle lemotif was included, it shows the connection between Mettaton and his audience/fans, Papyrus being one of his biggest.
If you listen to the original IKARUS Remix (what this video uses) then theres more than that.
Throughout most of the remix, Megalovania is heard lightly in the background. Sans is still alive at this point, and is next in line for a boss fight, so his track almost always being present makes sense.
Spear of Justice can be heard. Undyne is a friend of Alphys, the previous hero that tried to stop the human, and Mettaton is trying to imitate Undyne’s determination anyway. thats why Power of NEO has the same beats as True Hero
Spider Dance can be heard. it doesn’t make sense why though. it’s not even Ghost Fight/Dummy!, which would’ve actually made sense, considering who Mettaton used to be.

As awesome as this is, it's sad it's basically Mettaton accepting he's most likely going to die in this fight. He knows his chances are slim, but he's going down fighting.
My favorite of all the Geoncide run Package. Not just because Mettaton ,but I just love how this balances the hopeless of the run with the sheer desparation of the monsters. Mettaton's lyrics and tone show how as the fight goes on, he truly realizes, he can't win. And if he's going to go down... he's going to at least delay you so Alphys can get away. It just encapsulates the Genocide run from the monster's perspective wonderfully. Amazing work Alex, amazing work all of you!
Mettaton, while most of the fan base won't give him the credit he deserves, is in my option the bravest of the Monsters in the entire Underground. Mettaton is always cocky. Who's to say he didn't go into this fight KNOWING he was going to die, but hid the fact behind his normal theatrics? If that is true, then he went in knowing he had no shot, but "Unleashed all the power" he could, to ensure that the survivors could get away. THAT is why MTT is a True Hero.

You know i recently realized something : mettaton sounds more robotic during this song compared to death by glamour and metal crusher. The reason why is because *neo was never completed thus the voice was never fully completed, which is* mettaton is literally fighting a dying battle and he knows but still like he says in the song, he would rather save the lives of his fans and people than be a lone survivor

If you think about it, mettaton is just as much as a hero as undyne or sans in the genocide path. I mean he doesn't put up a fight but think about it, he still stands up to stop you, and maybe a reason why he stands up knowing fully well he can't stop you as he said in the beginning with alphys being the "only smart one." Buts let think about that for a second, a true hero doesn't have to put up a fight, a true hero has to stand up for others and what does mettaton do? He stands up for others and want i think even further solidifys him being a hero is him knowing he couldn't even stop you, sure undyne and sans may of had some hesitance but undyne was a trained warrior she didnt know she would become undying and sans had to of known he had the powers he uses in his fight no invisibility frames etc... metttaton though? He was just a star he didnt have any fancy weapons to try and stop you he didnt have powers like sans or was a trained warrior like undyne, he was just a celebrity. And another reason to prove he is even more of a hero it is quite easy to forget but, he changes from his box form (gonna call it box form) to his NEO form now this shows like with undyne he wants a fair fight he doesn't just want to try and cheat like sans he wants to try and stop you heroically. Now maybe another reason is he was fed up with what you had done and just wanted to protect those he cared about for example he dearly cared for Dr alphys as we get to see in the neutral route with him becoming king, building a statue of her and trying to look for her wishing he had treated her better. Maybe he just wanted to protect the people and alphys from you.
Now I believe that he was such a pushover for 2 reasons one being, alphys just didn't finish his defenses or because well your not human, think about it he is a *human* eradication robot and well your not human now you have too much LV your a monster a heartless killer and maybe thats why he was so easy.
All in all I love mettaton my favourite character in undertale and I just wanted to say how he was a hero as much as sans or undyne so yea bai bai :3.

On my first genocide, when I got to neo, I was so scared that he would be like undyne the undying that I stood up and quit the game. The next day, I fearfully moved my hand to the fight button and prepared for the worst. I was a bit angry when my eyes opened to a dead mettaton.
Tbh when I did my first genocide I just went with it. I laughed when he died in one hit
That’s the point. You’ve done a horrible thing by going down this path, and the game won’t reward you for it. You don’t deserve fun, you don’t get a cool fight, you get nothing.
