    • @arunsreenivasan2074
      @arunsreenivasan2074 4 роки тому +9

      Harry Smith Completely agree. As an aspiring medic myself in the UK, during my work experience it was obvious they need to be paid more (during lunch breaks a lot of the time was spent complaining about wages 😂), although you can lead a comfortable life with the salary as a consultant. After a minimum of 14 years after med school a wage of 80k a year with it gradually increasing until its capped at 105k isn’t bad. Also you can get extra money applying to award programmes where you are banded and can make extra money (the best get a further 70k added). So the money isn’t too bad in the UK though it’s still no where near that of the USA!

      No that’s a load of rubbish...
      1) most football players don’t get those wages, on the best in the top leagues. Looking into the unknown leagues and the lower leagues and there on average wages.
      2) following on from that point, it’s like anything in life, you become the best at a certain job and you will get paid handsomely... the best doctors in the world are billionaires! Football players that are on 10K a week it’s because they really good as being a footballer... in fact the best doctors earn wayyy more than the best footballers player by miles. It’s called life. If a doctor wants to earn similar to a football player... become one of the best doctors like how the football players your comparing them to are one of the best.
      3) plus for a lot of football fans who have no family, they gain one from football believe it or not... it’s its own community which lots of people really do benefit off.

    Is a Junior Doctor the same as an intern? I've never heard of them as we don't have them where I live...if anybody has the answer to this it would be greatly appreciated🙂

    • @koisty01
      @koisty01 7 років тому +6

      I think an intern is not certified yet, but junior doctors are in the UK. So in terms of US vs UK terminology a junior doctor is probably closer to a resident, as they are fully qualified and registered, but still report to a more senior doctor. Then again, a first year junior doctor may be more equivalent to an intern competency wise?

      "Junior doctor" in the UK can be a bit of a tricky term to understand. In a way, any training grade hospital doctor who isn't a Consultant (similar to an Attending) is classified as "junior", but that can include fairly experienced doctors who are some ten years post-qualification.
      Having said this, these guys in this video are quite junior, probably pre-registration house officers (or the new term, Foundation Year 1 doctors). They are qualified doctors but not fully certified by the General Medical Council, and are in their first year of working in the profession. They are, essentially, the "green P" plate drivers of medicine (people in the UK will understand the difference between a red L sign denoting a learner driver who hasn't passed their driving test yet and a green P denoting someone who has just passed but not yet experienced).
      So actually, Foundation Year 1 doctors are roughly similar to Interns, yes.

      Nope that’s a foundation doctor, a junior doctor is a resident.

    • @Test-bi2qu
      @Test-bi2qu 6 років тому +3

      You can't become a jr doctor without a degree in medicine, which you are not qualified to apply for without sufficient A level grades and a decent UKCAT score

    • @user-xl9fx9ue6y
      @user-xl9fx9ue6y 6 років тому +3

      Hey, you can either take your A-levels and apply for medicine (undergraduate entry) or medicine with a foundation year. Or, you can otherwise do an undergraduate degree, doesn’t have to be limited to science but of course would be helpful if it was in the scientific field, and then apply for graduate entry medicine. The journey is long and tough, but if medicine is truly what you want, never give up! (I’m currently a medical student)

      e.p the beginning
      Of COURSE nurses are involved in cardiac arrests. Every single one I've ever seen. What do you even think a cardiac arrest is? Do you think we just stand there watching our patients die while we wait for a doctors to come from another place on site to do it for us? No babe. Nurses are 9/10 the first people doing compressions (and continue to do so throughout the whole arrest as well, we don't hurry right off once the doc shows up).
      And yes nurses do surgery too, including on feet I'm sure. You will be hard pressed to find a single surgery where a nurse is not required and there a plenty of nurse practitioners that perform surgical procedures independently.
      I am not taking away from the exceptional hard work that medical staff put in nor the great challenges that junior doctors face in their first few years. My point was merely that nurses have to make extremely similar sacrifices regarding sleep and their social lives for less play and less respect. Do doctors have greater anatomical knowledge? Absolutely, but there are by no means more skilled (it is embarrassing how poor some of their practical skills are given the great emphasis placed on their theoretical knowledge during their training).
      Talking about how dirty their job is? "feces, urine, blood, sputum, snot on a daily basis"...
      I have never met a doctor that took a sputum sample, a stool sample, a urine sample, etc themselves. Nurses catheterise patients more often than not. Nurses do wound care. Do they avoid getting their hands dirty completely? No, but I'd hazard a guess that except for surgical/emergency doctors they manage to avoid about 80% in not more comparative to nursing staff (and even if they come into contact with it, it's not like they have to stick around to clean it up).

      valiant Othello i know what a doctor and a nurse are. The issue i'm having is yall cal them junior doctors and they show them doing the same exact practices as nurses here and nurse practitioners. The title makes zero sense if they are actual doctors and a low level of experience gaining their knowledge through their entry level it is called a residency in the states. They are doctors like anyone else with the degree but are simply graduates going through their residency program. Literally everything they have shown is what nurses would typically do in a day working in the ER or trauma unit in the states.
