Please let it be CV! It's definitely my favorite RE game with some of the best atmosphere in the franchise and memorable boss fights. When Capcom released the survey a short while ago I definitely geeked out on reasons it should be remade. Hopefully someone there read what I said!

Wesker is so prominent in Code Veronica, and I would LOVE to see a proper RE Remake version of Wesker that actually interacts with all the main characters and present a potentially awesome boss battle.
CVX deserves it. I really hope it is. That and Outbreak. I remember playing CV on the Dreamcast when it came out. Great game for what they had available. They have the chance to really do justice for CV. It was supposed to be a main title but due to console issues it was released as a side game for DC. I really do see CV as the real RE 3 and Nemesis as a side title. But it is what it is.
Code Veronica X holds a special place in my heart. It was my first Resident Evil I ever played and the first I would speed run over and over. Even though it's not perfect it's one of my favorites. I love the music so much, the locations and the overall feel it gives me every time I go back to play it. I'm hoping they give the remake a lot of love like they did for RE4 remake. Please Capcom ♥️
Reamke overdose. Id like to see more RE spin offs or a new mainline entry. RE4 was meandering at the best of times and they did bullsh*t us with that DLC that was just removed content from the main game, lack of true to form outfits and other things. Why would CV need to suffer that?

I think they are going to play it safe and continue down the remake track. To be honest i think they arent getting the overall response they want from these things because they aint cheap to make.

Just a correction Bawk but CVX is absolutely available on Xbox series consoles, I played it last year. It's the hd version from 360 via backwards compatibility
The first RE game I completed on my own and still to this day my favourite. I just hope they do a full major remake. Now I still LOVE RE3R to this day, but imagine a RE4R quality on what was already a long game. Potentially excited
The idea of Alfred being a "crossdressing freak" could work perfectly to give his already creepy personality an even deeper disturbing factor. His entire love for Alexia is already borderline incestuous and they could easily either add onto that and make him actually romantically love his sister and go that freaky, creepy, jealous route with him exploding into a fit of rage the moment someone besides him speaks Alexia's name, or just make him otherwise completely loopy. I love in the S.D.Perry books that Alfred's need to crossdress was explained, because he was so fucking lonely that he needed SOMETHING to be a replacement for his sister and in this case, being a twin, it was just himself filling that role. If CVX gets a remake I'm sure they will nail Steve, no doubt, say what you want about RE3re but damn the characters were good. (With one exception, Nicholai felt a lot flatter than OG, but that might just be me.) Splitting the scenarios... wouldn't really work I think? Unless Chris' side is a NG+ kind of thing, due to his scenarios taking place in the "past" if you know what I mean? He is always like 2 steps behind until he finally catches up in the arctic base so being able to play his scenario from the start like Claire's would really fuck with the flow of the story. Maybe they will finally add spiders in this game since the spiders in CVX are a lot less hairy. LOL. The Sweeper (poison hunters) though should really not be in the game at all. Hunters are the pinnacle of Umbrella's B.O.W.s research, they are agile, incredibly tanky and efficient murdermachines. Sweeper on the other hand don't fulfill the same idea? This thing that is known to instantly kill people is now... poisoning them? For what? The entire idea of these incredibly agile creatures doing something slowly just makes absolutely no sense. So scrap them, or make only one and make it have the same idea like Yawn where getting hit means you have to get a special antidote. Anyway, sorry for the wall of text. Have a good (insert your time of day here).
I loved the back tracking and puzzles and the punishment and frustration is to make you better at the game. Im tired of hearing how bad CV is because people want easy, auto save , less puzzle, no fix angle, more ammo drops, and less bullet sponge enemies. I say keep the cross dressing freak line and have Alfred banter back with , i dont know, maybe somethin like "at least i know how to dress like a woman" or " Do i sense jealousy? Lol oh Claire, your such a little girl". But make it serious and not hammy. In fact dial back a lot of the hammy dialogue and show how mentally unstable Alfred is. It would bring a more disturbing perspective to him . With Alexia you can make her sinister with a child like complexity that was show cased in Darkside chronicles but dont retcon her killing her brother. Still make it as Alfred dying loyal to his sister and motivating her to lose her mind.
Curious if the recent CVX “leak” comes into fruition, especially with Steve potentially becoming a playable character… seemed very RE0-inspired, which also could do with some updating. Either way, fake or not, more RE is never a bad thing. Unless it’s Re:Verse, of course. Or Umbrella Corp. Or…
Man this game has one of the best soundtracks i have ever listened! I still remember the ''Not Steve'' and the hanging doll room osts and how amazing they were! Played through this game so much i still to this day remember the NTC0394 computer code from the beginning of the ashford castle. Fun times.
No matter what game we gonna get, I just want another good game from Capcom. Apart from RE3 Remake all the recent games have been amazing, and I hope they continue this way. If it's gonna be CVX, I'm super happy. If it's RE5, I'm also super happy. But CVX is really the top spot because the OG game is reeeeally frustrating for todays audience.
Plot twist: the unannounced major game was "Dino Crisis". But really, CVX deserves a remake before RE5. CVX would give more time to enjoy and flesh out the characters especially Chris and Wesker. For Dino Crisis, hopefully someday, Capcom would give us a proper remake. I know Dino' are not scary, if given the atmosphere and tension of the story made in RE engine, it would give thrill to the game. Imagine if Dino crisis have mercenary mode with tons of interaction in the environment to kill or temporarily stop Dino' for swarming.
The original's strategy was perfect. The harder the game, the better. Also, Resident Evil is all about back tracking, linear games like RE5 and RE6 just did not feel like resident evil. Also back tracking gives you an eerie feeling, when you survive area but later in the game explore it again which I love.
One thing I'd love to see make a return that was absent from RE3R, Village and RE4R is the detailed damage on the enemies. The way that the flesh would hang off the zomboes in RE2R if you were close to chopping or blowing a limb off was incredible detail and I feel like they spoiled us a bit with it.
The only thing i remember in Re2r that u can blow their heads same as Re4r, but In Re4r you can cut off Ganado's limbs wheres in Re2r you cannot do this bro
RE4R did have dismemberment you could parry enemy arms off, blow off their arms with shotgun or repeated pistol or tmp rounds. Shooting enemies in the leg or torso would blow chunks out of them and some enemies would be in half entirely from explosions.
If Code Veronica or even RE5 is remade, either one or both needs more Wesker. Wesker is loved by the entire community and he never was fleshed out enough. He was about the same type of a villain to the series as Umbrella was/is. Seen known of, but rarely utilized.
This is kind of a small thing that may point towards Capcom potentially considering this Remake for quite awhile. While watching though I realized it. In RE2 Remake Claire is wearing jeans (by default) unlike her original shorts. Same as in Code Veronica OG. 🤔
Maybe they'll move code Veronica to take place after RE4 somehow. Of course the entire context of how Claire gets to the island would be different in that case...
I'm probably in the minority when I say RE5 is my favorite and that I hope RE5 remake is good and that it comes first, I also hope that Wesker is dramatic like the original
Here’s the thing, though. Code Veronica gives more context on Wesker and Chris’ rivalry and builds Wesker up as a character. New fans of the series who have no prior knowledge to the original games might not even know who Wesker is. They were only introduced to him in RE4R. They don’t understand his significance. Introducing him (to new players) in RE4R only to kill him off in the next remake would be kind of a wasted opportunity.
Coming from someone who recently beat Code Veronica for the first time, it desperately needs a remake. I really do like the vibe and the idea behind it all, but wow was it a frustrating experience at times. Even with loosely following a walkthrough of the game, some parts were genuinely rage-inducing. Capcom is the master of remakes though, so I trust that they can bring it into the modern age and make it an amazing experience.
CV original and X is a spin-off, not canon, in the Resident Evil number entry. So it's not getting a remake on CV it's not Capcom choice. It's your selfish choice, so don't believe in leaks that are always accurate sometimes its a false rumor.
I'm confused because CVX is on modern consoles. Xbox 360 and PS3 got a widescreen HD remaster, with the Xbox 360 version working on Xbox One/Series. PS4 got the PS2 Classics treatment version of CVX. The HD port and the PS2 port can be played, respectively, on Xbox Series and PS5.
I think RE5 Remake is next (which i think will be a mix of RE5 and RE6) and that's all the remakes up to date, then we'll get RE9. I don't think capcom will jump back to events before RE4 then jump forward to RE5 - they so far have been releasing the remakes cronologically so i think it makes sense to wrap up the remakes in order. My guess is if they do jump back they will go all the way back to RE0/RE1 - I don't think Veronica and Revelations will get remade in favour of RE0 & RE1. An RE1 re remake using the new REX game engine would be a massive hit for capcom but that won't be for a few years with RE5 and possibly 6 - but i do suspect they may combine elements of both games together - to come, and RE9. We are talking 2027/8 at the earliest before we get RE0/RE1 or RE code Veronica.
9:00 Some people, like one person from the RE Podcast, don't like Capcom leaving the old canon out and us not progressing with the story and that is their gripe with remakes. I can see why. But yeah, sucks they changed some stuff/some stuff is not canon anymore, apparently (since Death Island seems to be canon, but Jill has her RE3R model there, IF that implies smth, btw). I for my part am with you and will just enjoy the ride and see what comes next. I just hope we get a CVX remake before 5 for that Wesker development and the Chris rivalry etc. And got the plushie finally a few weeks ago, but it costs a lot here in Germany, ugh. Dat shipping and other stuff was horrible. Not gonna get stuff on ownaj anymore, sadly and hope you do find a good new company ;)
Freeze rounds - you've mentioned so many complicated interactions that would need to be coded. That's likely why freeze rounds aren't a thing, because they won't put that much time into 1 round type and they know that doing a half-assed attempt would be met with community blowback. As for the Crossdressing Freak line, that won't make it. FF7R took the crossdressing element and made a whole tasteful thing of it. There's no way to use the words "crossdressing freak" and make it tasteful, so it'll be removed.
pLEASE don't give this game the RE3 treatment, I'm sorry but that remake was horrible. It was way too short and it deserved to be it's own game. CVX really deserves the limelight and upgrade.
Love seeing other fans of Code Veronica X! I want this so bad and out of all the games in the franchise it has always needed the most. It’ll make sense to release it before RE5R.
You brought up some interesting points here but you've got the wrong idea on what these remakes are supposed to be. Capcom have stated these remakes are meant to be their own games in their own timeline so it wouldn't make people see why CV was good or bring attention to it like what you said, it would give players a largely different experience with CV's story though it would have some changes or it might be more faithful like RE 4 but I don't think so.
I hope they see what they’ve done with RE4R separate ways and give Chris access to different parts of Rockfort Island like Ada had in comparison to Leon. I would want them to make Steve slightly older than the OG CVX version. I love the freeze rounds idea you have, Bawk
It's been a long time since I last played, but it really doesn't make sense to separate Claire and Chris into other scenarios. People had trouble with the character switch before? Actually do it better this time. Isn't that the point of a remake? Extending Chris's part just to make it as long as Claire's would probably feel more like padding than the game already has. It's not like he can interact with Wesker the whole time, because then it'll be too much like Sephiroth in FF7R. Capcom, forget remaking RE5, we can already play that right now, give games that actually need a remake like Outbreak.
@solidmage1720 yeah that would be sweet. I like the little things like being able to change the colour of the blood or something like that. I never played the n64 version. They have done it with metal gear so fingers crossed, it will get the treatment!!!

I have Prime 1 Nemesis and Jill, they look great together, it was worth the arm and leg. I'm looking forward to both a CVX remake and a nice Prime 1 statue from CVX too.
Something I would love to see with Wesker is an extended fight scene with Alexia. Another cool concept would be after their battle and separation, they both become roaming enemies in the mansion for a short time, with them both attacking your character AND each other if you run into them both. I like the idea of seperate playthroughs, they've also shown that they're able to handle new spaces in old areas (Seperate Ways did this very well in my opinion). Curious to see how they handle the knife as well. Every remake has done something different with it, and with its role in the OG, I wonder if they will introduce something like the RE3R dodge mechanic, but allow you to slice their knees or something similar following a dodge. Claire is much more experienced and mature by the time CVX rolls around, so I'm very very excited to see how they handle her new character! Totally agree on how they've done on making good characters with their last 5 entries. As for replayability, I agree that it needs to be addressed with the same love as what we saw with RE1R. Making sure its *all* ready at launch is big too. If I'm not mistaken, the Bonus modes/DLC of all the past 5 games have either been a while after the main game dropped, or delayed from launch at the start. Maybe this is the Remake where Capcom adds a true randomizer as a bonus feature *takes bong rip*. Anywho, good video!
I won't even play re5 remake, thats when the whole series went to trash. It sold well because it came on the heels of the greatest game of all time, not on its own merits. CVX remake is all thats left of this series for me, or a new 1 remake. Id rather they go back and just pretend 5 and 6 didnt happen, and do an entirely new re5 completely unrelated to the original.

It was the latest release of the game and was named that to differentiate it from the original on Dreamcast. It's also a more complete version of the game with more Wesker scenes in it.
I agree the point of separating routes, don't really agree with dividing it into chapters. The grenades stuff sounds really cool, I don't think it will be ever implemented. The other points are fine, wouldn't mind if they do them or not. But they definitely have to get rid of those egg laying moths or change them in a way there are less annoying
I'd love a CVX remake (have it on Dreamcast), they don't need to mess about with it too much, and shouldn't have the team that made RE3 Remake doing it. BUT for the love of god, they should make Steve better and more likeable. Also I agree, I like the idea of 2 separate scenarios for both Claire and Chris; a proper Redfield game instead of combined, could flesh Chris' out too. And more Wesker is never a bad thing. It's one of my favourite RE's, I remember it being it bit of a black sheep at the time but come one, that intro cutscene of action Claire never gets old.

Some people may disagree with me on this, but.............. Please, don't ever add the moths back. They were the worst part to get through in the entire game imo. I'd say that they are even the worst RE enemy type in the whole franchise that I can think of rn. Since I am not a god tier speedrunner, it was a pain trying to get an A rank in the game bc of the moths.
That is correct but it’s not the HD version of CVX, instead it’s the ps2 port which in terms of graphical appearance is some what inferior to the HD version.
One of the reasons I love CVX is the lack of scenarios. Hated being on the character selection screen knowing that I might not like the one I pick and then have to come back again or feeling like I’m obligated to have to repeat the game again even if that means repeating the same areas as before.
Capcom could create 3 scenários, 1 for claire a little bit short, 1 for chris longer and 1 for wesker, in this scenario in cutscenes ada will show up in healing process and deliver the G to him (not playable) also saying she is required for the future (RE5) and, make a scenário of him where we play with him attacking the ashford base, spreading the virus and doing other stuff while we cross paths with claire and chris to show the player 'what happened' to the island and 'how' it happened. His scenario finishes with him discovering the origins of the veronica virus the original prototype came from africa that marcus ashford discovered and started umbrella giving the origin of the company and finally closing the umbrella saga also he starts working with his 'sons and daughters' project to setup for RE6 with jake. Then he starts to work with tricel to find this plant in africa and yada yada yada. Also ada must appear in RE5 getting in the way of BSAA and chris giving him more reasons to hate her in RE6 remake.
I agree. I’m currently on my third playthrough of RE4R, and the game hasn’t even been out a year. As someone who usually replays games that I like years after playing them the first time, this is a big deal for me.

I agree with the back tracking portion but I also don’t want them to make it completely linear like they did RE3. If they make it more like RE2 where you can explore and keep progressing that would be amazing. Would like to see multiple endings based on decisions made, that’d be a heck of an addition. If they add a playable intro that led into Claire being captured, it’d be sick. Not to mention a nice little action packed beginning to set things up. -Daed
Yes, maybe he meant as a native port, because CVX on the Xbox Series/One is playable through the backwards compatibility(the 360 hd version), and on PS5/PS4 is just the ps2 version emulated.
I think they could change Alfred from crossdressing as Alexia to carrying a doll in her likeness and talking to (and for) it. It would probably better fit the dollhouse theme of the private residence anyway
They're just going to half ass it to get to RE5 remake. I don't doubt Capcom will make a good game, but I dont think it'll be great. Although, I enjoyed RE 3 remake, I was sad to see how much they cut from the original game. It felt like a completely different game.
Man, the idea of having freeze rounds destroying a bandersnaches arm and having their AI change because of it is SO clever, the dev team should hire you for ideas because honestly everything you've said here was spot on. In regards to the "cross dressing freaks" line, it would be so easy for capcom to rewrite any of the parts that would potentially cause outrage these days and if the remake does happen I'm sure capcom will do whatever they need to do to avoid any potential boycotting or whatever, anyone saying the game wouldn't get a remake because of it is clueless. Also Leyenda killed the editing on this one, it's on a whole new level.
I was having a conversation with a buddy of mine talking about wesker. RE4 Remake was like the 1st introduction to this character for a new audience. You can't show this new audience RE5 next...for reasons. You have to expand on their story which Code X does. Then when you realize what a bad mf this dood is... give them an origin story like in RE1. THEN finish the story with 5. Its a very far fetched idea that I don't think will ever happen but laying out the story on how they got basically super powers for a whole new generation of players and possibly changing what happens to them in the end... could be interesting. Code X > RE1 > RE5 (with an end credit WOAH scene)
Code Veronica is meant to be played on the Sega Dreamcast. It was originally supposed to be a Sega Dreamcast exclusive. It was designed to play on the Dreamcast.
just make it like re2 remake and im happy. dont rush it like re3 remake and stay truthful to the original like re2 remake. dont delete all the puzzles, areas, enemies! keep it classic and let us explore areas and solve puzzles, thank you!
Never played CVX due to the fact that I never had a Dreamcast back in the days. It's on the very top of my list for games I wanna play some day. So, yeah: I would absolutely love to dip my toe into the game (remake or original, I don't care at this point). Question remains though: If there's a remaster of the original on PC at some point, should I play that before the (possible) remake? Hard to say, I guess …
2:00 - Don't forget the fire extinguisher part and not getting the Magnum if one forgets it on the island :') But nonetheless; CVX is also my/one of my favorite RE('s). The puzzles, the environments, the different locations, the monster design, the creepiness (like the doctor stuff and the torture chamber), the Ashfords and their history and the general atmosphere and the vibe of it. Such a masterpiece that just wasn't as well executed, maybe. Ah, and the OST! That save theme is still among the best for some (RE0's also) :)
By “modern consoles”, do you only mean the Xbox Series S/X and the PS5? Cuz I consider the PS4 to be a modern console, just not a current-gen console, and CVX is available on the PS4 (not the HD remaster version though. Capcom ported the original version to the PS4 for some weird reason). It’s playable on the PS5 as well apparently (don’t know personally though), and the Xbox 360 version of CVX is playable on the Xbox Series X. I can confirm this cuz this was how I 100%ed it as well as unlocking the Infinite Rocket Launcher. What a pain in the ass that was lol.
Code Veronica is the only 'classic RE' that needed a remake. I was a huge fan of RE, but I could not stand CVX. Not prerendrring the backgrounds feels like a way worse quality game, I think this and the camera made me hate it. And the characters. Jill, Carlos and Nicholai were destroyed in RE3R. Removing the Alabama vibes in CVX, would destroy this too. But I really hope for a CVX remake

Code Veronica X holds a special place in my heart. It was my first Resident Evil I ever played and the first I would speed run over and over. Even though it's not perfect it's one of my favorites. I love the music so much, the locations and the overall feel it gives me every time I go back to play it. I'm hoping they give the remake a lot of love like they did for RE4 remake. Please Capcom ♥️
Reamke overdose. Id like to see more RE spin offs or a new mainline entry. RE4 was meandering at the best of times and they did bullsh*t us with that DLC that was just removed content from the main game, lack of true to form outfits and other things. Why would CV need to suffer that?

Just a correction Bawk but CVX is absolutely available on Xbox series consoles, I played it last year. It's the hd version from 360 via backwards compatibility
The first RE game I completed on my own and still to this day my favourite. I just hope they do a full major remake. Now I still LOVE RE3R to this day, but imagine a RE4R quality on what was already a long game. Potentially excited
The idea of Alfred being a "crossdressing freak" could work perfectly to give his already creepy personality an even deeper disturbing factor. His entire love for Alexia is already borderline incestuous and they could easily either add onto that and make him actually romantically love his sister and go that freaky, creepy, jealous route with him exploding into a fit of rage the moment someone besides him speaks Alexia's name, or just make him otherwise completely loopy. I love in the S.D.Perry books that Alfred's need to crossdress was explained, because he was so fucking lonely that he needed SOMETHING to be a replacement for his sister and in this case, being a twin, it was just himself filling that role.
If CVX gets a remake I'm sure they will nail Steve, no doubt, say what you want about RE3re but damn the characters were good. (With one exception, Nicholai felt a lot flatter than OG, but that might just be me.)
Splitting the scenarios... wouldn't really work I think? Unless Chris' side is a NG+ kind of thing, due to his scenarios taking place in the "past" if you know what I mean? He is always like 2 steps behind until he finally catches up in the arctic base so being able to play his scenario from the start like Claire's would really fuck with the flow of the story.
Maybe they will finally add spiders in this game since the spiders in CVX are a lot less hairy. LOL. The Sweeper (poison hunters) though should really not be in the game at all. Hunters are the pinnacle of Umbrella's B.O.W.s research, they are agile, incredibly tanky and efficient murdermachines. Sweeper on the other hand don't fulfill the same idea? This thing that is known to instantly kill people is now... poisoning them? For what? The entire idea of these incredibly agile creatures doing something slowly just makes absolutely no sense. So scrap them, or make only one and make it have the same idea like Yawn where getting hit means you have to get a special antidote.

Yeah, despite RE3 remake’s flaws, they absolutely nailed the characters, especially Carlos.
I loved the back tracking and puzzles and the punishment and frustration is to make you better at the game. Im tired of hearing how bad CV is because people want easy, auto save , less puzzle, no fix angle, more ammo drops, and less bullet sponge enemies. I say keep the cross dressing freak line and have Alfred banter back with , i dont know, maybe somethin like "at least i know how to dress like a woman" or " Do i sense jealousy? Lol oh Claire, your such a little girl". But make it serious and not hammy. In fact dial back a lot of the hammy dialogue and show how mentally unstable Alfred is. It would bring a more disturbing perspective to him . With Alexia you can make her sinister with a child like complexity that was show cased in Darkside chronicles but dont retcon her killing her brother. Still make it as Alfred dying loyal to his sister and motivating her to lose her mind.
Curious if the recent CVX “leak” comes into fruition, especially with Steve potentially becoming a playable character… seemed very RE0-inspired, which also could do with some updating. Either way, fake or not, more RE is never a bad thing. Unless it’s Re:Verse, of course. Or Umbrella Corp. Or…
Man this game has one of the best soundtracks i have ever listened! I still remember the ''Not Steve'' and the hanging doll room osts and how amazing they were! Played through this game so much i still to this day remember the NTC0394 computer code from the beginning of the ashford castle. Fun times.
No matter what game we gonna get, I just want another good game from Capcom. Apart from RE3 Remake all the recent games have been amazing, and I hope they continue this way.
If it's gonna be CVX, I'm super happy. If it's RE5, I'm also super happy. But CVX is really the top spot because the OG game is reeeeally frustrating for todays audience.

Plot twist: the unannounced major game was "Dino Crisis". But really, CVX deserves a remake before RE5. CVX would give more time to enjoy and flesh out the characters especially Chris and Wesker.
For Dino Crisis, hopefully someday, Capcom would give us a proper remake. I know Dino' are not scary, if given the atmosphere and tension of the story made in RE engine, it would give thrill to the game. Imagine if Dino crisis have mercenary mode with tons of interaction in the environment to kill or temporarily stop Dino' for swarming.

The original's strategy was perfect. The harder the game, the better. Also, Resident Evil is all about back tracking, linear games like RE5 and RE6 just did not feel like resident evil. Also back tracking gives you an eerie feeling, when you survive area but later in the game explore it again which I love.
One thing I'd love to see make a return that was absent from RE3R, Village and RE4R is the detailed damage on the enemies. The way that the flesh would hang off the zomboes in RE2R if you were close to chopping or blowing a limb off was incredible detail and I feel like they spoiled us a bit with it.

The only thing i remember in Re2r that u can blow their heads same as Re4r, but In Re4r you can cut off Ganado's limbs wheres in Re2r you cannot do this bro
RE4R did have dismemberment you could parry enemy arms off, blow off their arms with shotgun or repeated pistol or tmp rounds. Shooting enemies in the leg or torso would blow chunks out of them and some enemies would be in half entirely from explosions.
If Code Veronica or even RE5 is remade, either one or both needs more Wesker. Wesker is loved by the entire community and he never was fleshed out enough. He was about the same type of a villain to the series as Umbrella was/is. Seen known of, but rarely utilized.
This is kind of a small thing that may point towards Capcom potentially considering this Remake for quite awhile. While watching though I realized it. In RE2 Remake Claire is wearing jeans (by default) unlike her original shorts. Same as in Code Veronica OG. 🤔
Maybe they'll move code Veronica to take place after RE4 somehow. Of course the entire context of how Claire gets to the island would be different in that case...
I'm probably in the minority when I say RE5 is my favorite and that I hope RE5 remake is good and that it comes first, I also hope that Wesker is dramatic like the original
Here’s the thing, though. Code Veronica gives more context on Wesker and Chris’ rivalry and builds Wesker up as a character. New fans of the series who have no prior knowledge to the original games might not even know who Wesker is. They were only introduced to him in RE4R. They don’t understand his significance. Introducing him (to new players) in RE4R only to kill him off in the next remake would be kind of a wasted opportunity.
Coming from someone who recently beat Code Veronica for the first time, it desperately needs a remake. I really do like the vibe and the idea behind it all, but wow was it a frustrating experience at times. Even with loosely following a walkthrough of the game, some parts were genuinely rage-inducing. Capcom is the master of remakes though, so I trust that they can bring it into the modern age and make it an amazing experience.
The CVX story is so important to the overall RE Cannon that they need to do it justice and remake it!
CV original and X is a spin-off, not canon, in the Resident Evil number entry. So it's not getting a remake on CV it's not Capcom choice. It's your selfish choice, so don't believe in leaks that are always accurate sometimes its a false rumor.

I'm confused because CVX is on modern consoles. Xbox 360 and PS3 got a widescreen HD remaster, with the Xbox 360 version working on Xbox One/Series. PS4 got the PS2 Classics treatment version of CVX. The HD port and the PS2 port can be played, respectively, on Xbox Series and PS5.
I think RE5 Remake is next (which i think will be a mix of RE5 and RE6) and that's all the remakes up to date, then we'll get RE9. I don't think capcom will jump back to events before RE4 then jump forward to RE5 - they so far have been releasing the remakes cronologically so i think it makes sense to wrap up the remakes in order. My guess is if they do jump back they will go all the way back to RE0/RE1 - I don't think Veronica and Revelations will get remade in favour of RE0 & RE1. An RE1 re remake using the new REX game engine would be a massive hit for capcom but that won't be for a few years with RE5 and possibly 6 - but i do suspect they may combine elements of both games together - to come, and RE9.
We are talking 2027/8 at the earliest before we get RE0/RE1 or RE code Veronica.

Freeze rounds - you've mentioned so many complicated interactions that would need to be coded. That's likely why freeze rounds aren't a thing, because they won't put that much time into 1 round type and they know that doing a half-assed attempt would be met with community blowback.
As for the Crossdressing Freak line, that won't make it. FF7R took the crossdressing element and made a whole tasteful thing of it. There's no way to use the words "crossdressing freak" and make it tasteful, so it'll be removed.
pLEASE don't give this game the RE3 treatment, I'm sorry but that remake was horrible. It was way too short and it deserved to be it's own game. CVX really deserves the limelight and upgrade.
Love seeing other fans of Code Veronica X! I want this so bad and out of all the games in the franchise it has always needed the most. It’ll make sense to release it before RE5R.
You brought up some interesting points here but you've got the wrong idea on what these remakes are supposed to be. Capcom have stated these remakes are meant to be their own games in their own timeline so it wouldn't make people see why CV was good or bring attention to it like what you said, it would give players a largely different experience with CV's story though it would have some changes or it might be more faithful like RE 4 but I don't think so.
I hope they see what they’ve done with RE4R separate ways and give Chris access to different parts of Rockfort Island like Ada had in comparison to Leon. I would want them to make Steve slightly older than the OG CVX version. I love the freeze rounds idea you have, Bawk
It's been a long time since I last played, but it really doesn't make sense to separate Claire and Chris into other scenarios. People had trouble with the character switch before? Actually do it better this time. Isn't that the point of a remake? Extending Chris's part just to make it as long as Claire's would probably feel more like padding than the game already has. It's not like he can interact with Wesker the whole time, because then it'll be too much like Sephiroth in FF7R.
Capcom, forget remaking RE5, we can already play that right now, give games that actually need a remake like Outbreak.

Something I would love to see with Wesker is an extended fight scene with Alexia. Another cool concept would be after their battle and separation, they both become roaming enemies in the mansion for a short time, with them both attacking your character AND each other if you run into them both. I like the idea of seperate playthroughs, they've also shown that they're able to handle new spaces in old areas (Seperate Ways did this very well in my opinion). Curious to see how they handle the knife as well. Every remake has done something different with it, and with its role in the OG, I wonder if they will introduce something like the RE3R dodge mechanic, but allow you to slice their knees or something similar following a dodge. Claire is much more experienced and mature by the time CVX rolls around, so I'm very very excited to see how they handle her new character! Totally agree on how they've done on making good characters with their last 5 entries. As for replayability, I agree that it needs to be addressed with the same love as what we saw with RE1R. Making sure its *all* ready at launch is big too. If I'm not mistaken, the Bonus modes/DLC of all the past 5 games have either been a while after the main game dropped, or delayed from launch at the start. Maybe this is the Remake where Capcom adds a true randomizer as a bonus feature *takes bong rip*. Anywho, good video!

I won't even play re5 remake, thats when the whole series went to trash. It sold well because it came on the heels of the greatest game of all time, not on its own merits. CVX remake is all thats left of this series for me, or a new 1 remake. Id rather they go back and just pretend 5 and 6 didnt happen, and do an entirely new re5 completely unrelated to the original.

I agree the point of separating routes, don't really agree with dividing it into chapters. The grenades stuff sounds really cool, I don't think it will be ever implemented. The other points are fine, wouldn't mind if they do them or not. But they definitely have to get rid of those egg laying moths or change them in a way there are less annoying
The HD version of Code Veronica is backwards compatible on Series X.
I'd love a CVX remake (have it on Dreamcast), they don't need to mess about with it too much, and shouldn't have the team that made RE3 Remake doing it.
BUT for the love of god, they should make Steve better and more likeable.
Also I agree, I like the idea of 2 separate scenarios for both Claire and Chris; a proper Redfield game instead of combined, could flesh Chris' out too. And more Wesker is never a bad thing. It's one of my favourite RE's, I remember it being it bit of a black sheep at the time but come one, that intro cutscene of action Claire never gets old.
Would it include all the content is my only concern. We can already expect them to butcher everything else noble about it all considered.

Some people may disagree with me on this, but.............. Please, don't ever add the moths back. They were the worst part to get through in the entire game imo. I'd say that they are even the worst RE enemy type in the whole franchise that I can think of rn. Since I am not a god tier speedrunner, it was a pain trying to get an A rank in the game bc of the moths.

Just a comment on CVX not being on modern consoles, it is on PSN as a PS4 game and playable on PS5.
That is correct but it’s not the HD version of CVX, instead it’s the ps2 port which in terms of graphical appearance is some what inferior to the HD version.
I like how the last resident evil remakes adapted the game to be played with mouse.
I hope MGS 3 does something like that.
One of the reasons I love CVX is the lack of scenarios. Hated being on the character selection screen knowing that I might not like the one I pick and then have to come back again or feeling like I’m obligated to have to repeat the game again even if that means repeating the same areas as before.
Capcom could create 3 scenários, 1 for claire a little bit short, 1 for chris longer and 1 for wesker, in this scenario in cutscenes ada will show up in healing process and deliver the G to him (not playable) also saying she is required for the future (RE5) and, make a scenário of him where we play with him attacking the ashford base, spreading the virus and doing other stuff while we cross paths with claire and chris to show the player 'what happened' to the island and 'how' it happened. His scenario finishes with him discovering the origins of the veronica virus the original prototype came from africa that marcus ashford discovered and started umbrella giving the origin of the company and finally closing the umbrella saga also he starts working with his 'sons and daughters' project to setup for RE6 with jake. Then he starts to work with tricel to find this plant in africa and yada yada yada. Also ada must appear in RE5 getting in the way of BSAA and chris giving him more reasons to hate her in RE6 remake.

I think they did a lot better with replayability with Re4R. Chasing the S+ and what not has kept me playing all year, as a casual player.
I agree. I’m currently on my third playthrough of RE4R, and the game hasn’t even been out a year. As someone who usually replays games that I like years after playing them the first time, this is a big deal for me.

But I think you’re spot on for all your points. I agree with the back tracking portion but I also don’t want them to make it completely linear like they did RE3. If they make it more like RE2 where you can explore and keep progressing that would be amazing.
Would like to see multiple endings based on decisions made, that’d be a heck of an addition.
If they add a playable intro that led into Claire being captured, it’d be sick. Not to mention a nice little action packed beginning to set things up.

I think they could change Alfred from crossdressing as Alexia to carrying a doll in her likeness and talking to (and for) it. It would probably better fit the dollhouse theme of the private residence anyway

They're just going to half ass it to get to RE5 remake. I don't doubt Capcom will make a good game, but I dont think it'll be great. Although, I enjoyed RE 3 remake, I was sad to see how much they cut from the original game. It felt like a completely different game.

Man, the idea of having freeze rounds destroying a bandersnaches arm and having their AI change because of it is SO clever, the dev team should hire you for ideas because honestly everything you've said here was spot on. In regards to the "cross dressing freaks" line, it would be so easy for capcom to rewrite any of the parts that would potentially cause outrage these days and if the remake does happen I'm sure capcom will do whatever they need to do to avoid any potential boycotting or whatever, anyone saying the game wouldn't get a remake because of it is clueless.

I was having a conversation with a buddy of mine talking about wesker. RE4 Remake was like the 1st introduction to this character for a new audience. You can't show this new audience RE5 next...for reasons. You have to expand on their story which Code X does. Then when you realize what a bad mf this dood is... give them an origin story like in RE1. THEN finish the story with 5. Its a very far fetched idea that I don't think will ever happen but laying out the story on how they got basically super powers for a whole new generation of players and possibly changing what happens to them in the end... could be interesting. Code X > RE1 > RE5 (with an end credit WOAH scene)

Code Veronica is meant to be played on the Sega Dreamcast. It was originally supposed to be a Sega Dreamcast exclusive. It was designed to play on the Dreamcast.

Never played CVX due to the fact that I never had a Dreamcast back in the days. It's on the very top of my list for games I wanna play some day. So, yeah: I would absolutely love to dip my toe into the game (remake or original, I don't care at this point). Question remains though: If there's a remaster of the original on PC at some point, should I play that before the (possible) remake? Hard to say, I guess …
2:00 - Don't forget the fire extinguisher part and not getting the Magnum if one forgets it on the island :') But nonetheless; CVX is also my/one of my favorite RE('s). The puzzles, the environments, the different locations, the monster design, the creepiness (like the doctor stuff and the torture chamber), the Ashfords and their history and the general atmosphere and the vibe of it. Such a masterpiece that just wasn't as well executed, maybe. Ah, and the OST! That save theme is still among the best for some (RE0's also) :)
By “modern consoles”, do you only mean the Xbox Series S/X and the PS5? Cuz I consider the PS4 to be a modern console, just not a current-gen console, and CVX is available on the PS4 (not the HD remaster version though. Capcom ported the original version to the PS4 for some weird reason). It’s playable on the PS5 as well apparently (don’t know personally though), and the Xbox 360 version of CVX is playable on the Xbox Series X. I can confirm this cuz this was how I 100%ed it as well as unlocking the Infinite Rocket Launcher. What a pain in the ass that was lol.
Code Veronica is the only 'classic RE' that needed a remake. I was a huge fan of RE, but I could not stand CVX. Not prerendrring the backgrounds feels like a way worse quality game, I think this and the camera made me hate it.
And the characters. Jill, Carlos and Nicholai were destroyed in RE3R. Removing the Alabama vibes in CVX, would destroy this too.

I'm tired of the over-the-shoulder titles.RE1 remake remains the best Resi game bar none and the fixed angles are just perfection. I have to say, I thought Village was bloody awful by far the worst game in the series. I was disappointed with Kendo in RE2 Remake, I would've LOVED it, if they'd made him an Alex Jones styule conspiracy theorist. Again, I'd take a dozen OG Steves over one of those terrible Village characters.
